My twin boys have been attending Learning Springs Academy for 5 mornings a week for almost 2 years. We found LSA by chance (just driving by) after negative experience in Creative Minds Preschool (Rose Room for youngest kids). After reading the mixed yelp reviews we decided that it is always better to see the new preschool in person. During the tour of LSA we were surprised with the friendly attitude of the staff, large classrooms, spacious playground and extensive parent involvement. We also had the chance to speak with the teacher of the Yellow Room, which was most important for us. Our boys were about 2.5 years old at that time and in process of potty training. The staff of the LSA Yellow Room helped us significantly by using fixed potty regime for the whole class. The school also provided us with daily communication report about the activities of the day, mood of the child, activities that our boys enjoyed and weekly homework. If there was a behavioral issue, it was quickly resolved and the teachers always found time and spoke with us privately. The kids were bringing home tons of art projects and both of them were happy. Everything was basically the opposite to what we suffered through in Creative Minds. LSA accommodated our request and tried the twins in separate and in the same classroom just to know what works the best for our boys. The school also organizes monthly Parents Nights Out, parties for Valentine's, Easter, Halloween, Christmas and other occasions, professional picture days twice a year... My boys are now in the Red and the Blue Rooms, getting ready for kindergarten next year. The teachers are wonderful, patient and try to do what is in the best interest of the kids. We as parents could not wish for a better school for our boys. read more

My 3 old toddler had a very unpleasant first time daycare experience while she was at Learning Springs for 7 days. She was hit by a child while having 3 adults in the same classroom "supervising" her. There was no exact explanation as to why they didn't witness the incident. My child had an "accident" and I always provided an extra pair of clothes as expected, but my child was left with her dirty clothes throughout the day. The hours state they are available for business at 7am and for me this was expressed how important it was to be their on time. The staff would walk in right at 7am and by the time I walked out from checking her in and everything else that needed to be done, i was 10 minutes behind schedule. I expressed thus to the director and we couldn't continue allowing more incidents occur and decided to not continue having our child be here. We requested our 2 weeks of daycares money that we had paid in advance to be refunded and they refused and said their policy stated we needed to give a months notice stating we were removing our child. We were furious to hear how the wanted us to leave our child there to have more incidents occur. A refund wAs not given back to us and were un-sympathetic. Bad experience from day one. read more

I'm not really sure what we would have done if we didn't find Learning Springs. Our son Benjamin was 2 1/2 when we discovered he had a speech delay, we got him into speech through our insurance and when that ran out we were told to get him into preschool. So the search began. We looked at many preschools. We were in tears that we might have to send him to a preschool our gut feeling was telling us not to. Then we found Learning Springs! WOW WOW WOW!! It was just the right fit for our son and for us. The teachers at learning Springs are so caring and educated. My son blossomed at school making so many first friends. His speech improved almost instantly! When it was time to send our daughter Skylar (2 1/2) to preschool it was a NO brainer. She would be going to LSA. She too was having speech problems (so we thought at least). But hers turned out to be more than just speech. I asked Lucia to keep an eye on her and let me know what she thinks. She took me aside a few weeks later and very kind heartily told me there was some red flags and I should start getting her assessed. Not something any parent wants to hear. But coming from Lucia made it much easier because I know how much she cares for the kids and families who attend her school. She talked to me about how important early assessments are. I called our District and got the ball rolling. When she turned 3 years old the Distric school physiologist came to LSA and did their assessments on her in class. Everyone at LSA was very cooperative and had Skylar's best interest in mind. After the assessment, Lucia went with us to the District office for support and her input. Skylar was diagnosed with nonverbal severe autism. I was in tears fearing I did something wrong. Somehow this had to be my fault! Lucia hugged me and reassured me I did nothing wrong and everything will be ok. And a new journey began. It's crazy that we as parents have to fight for the education our kiddos are by law entitled to. Our daughter wouldn't be getting the education she deserves if it wasn't for Lucia teaching me and training me on how to fight for my daughters rights! I'm now a beast when it comes to IEP meetings and our new District knows it. Benjamin is now 11 and Skylar is 9 1/2 and both thriving in school. Skylar is doing so well in school. Now she is one of the more higher functioning kids in class and no longer considered nonverbal but limited speech. She will be mainstreamed in a typical 4th grade class for a few hours with aid support come 2017. I can never thank Lucia and the teacher at LSA for their constant compassion for what they do. In our family life we have gone through so much from deaths, marriage troubles, adolescent teens and autism. LSA had always been there for us through it all! Never have they asked for any compensation for going far and beyond what a preschool should do. I still keep in touch with Lucia, and her first thing is, how are the kids? Send me pictures. I enrolled my son (almost 3) here about a month ago and we love it so far. He loves going to "school" and looks forward to it. His teachers are very nice and I've seen them do fun activities with the kids. He comes home singing songs and telling me about what he did that day. The teachers give detailed daily reports about the activities, too. Throughout the enrollment process, Myla (the assistant director) was so helpful answering all my questions, and she and the office manager, Marianne, are very friendly! The school also sends out email reminders for upcoming dates, which is helpful for busy parents. I had looked at many daycares and preschools, and I'm glad we chose this one. read more

Wrote a review in 2011 about my now 9 year old son who attended Learning Springs for 3 years from 2008-2011. He was speech delayed when he started, and only said a few words in a language he had created--he could not be understood by his teachers and peers. Lucia, the director, and the teachers worked with him daily, and Lucia gave my husband and I "homework" with drills and activities designed to help our son with his delay. By the time he was in his third pre-K year, he had improved his expressive and receptive language delay tremendously, and was giving short oral presentations in class. He had also made many friends. Now in June 2015 my very spirited 3 year old twin boys are almost done with their first year at Learning Springs, and attend five half days. Thankfully, they are not speech delayed, but they are very challenging and love to test the teachers often. Lucia, and the Yellow Room teachers work on daily positive behavior strategies, and the twins' behavior is improving. There is daily communication between myself, the wonderful teachers, and Lucia, the director. I know that my twins will be as prepared as my older son was when he graduated and began kindergarten--he was strong in reading, math and science! read more

My Daughter has attended Learning Springs since January. She started off in the yellow room and is now in the blue room. I am soo happy with the amount of growth I have seen from her in these past 9 months. I would recommend parents to tour during circle time so you can see how interactive the teachers are with the students. My favorite part of Learning Springs was being involved in all of the activities they had for the parents. It really made me feel part of the school. read more

Livewire, dashing, dynamic Exec Director Lucia, Fun Classes, variety of activities, weekly email updates, regular photo updates on things done, parents welcome anytime, listening to parents input, transparency at its best. This would be a great place for your high functioning kids to go to. The academics for the typical child may not be the tops, but the overall experience here would make it one of the best places around. Highly recommended. Where do I begin... My son has been in LS for only 2 months, and I can already say with 100% confidence that this is the best thing that has happened to him. And I am not exaggerating. I had to pull out my son from another preschool, as he was treated horribly with no respect at all. His self esteem was deeply wounded. My son liked the place from the start, but it took him a couple of weeks until he felt completely at home. The teacher and the teacher's aide, handled everything so well, with dignity, respect, humor, and a lot of positive energy. They are wonderful. My son is now part of the group, enjoys participating in all the activities, and he loves going to school. For us it means the world. It wasn't like that for him at all before. The people are wonderful, and so is the program. They have so many fun special events and activities, and they also teach them many important skills. For example, my son had a problem using the proper pencil grasp, and the teachers are working with him on that daily. He has almost mastered the skill now. My son comes back every day with stories of what they did, and what everybody said (again, a huge change. At the previous place he would not tell me a thing even when I asked him). And a few words about Lucia, the director. She cares. She cares about the kids, and she goes above and beyond to make sure each kid gets what they need to be successful. She even volunteered to come with me to my school district to talk on our behalf and she has been a huge help. I still can not fully comprehend how a busy director is offering and is willing to do something like that for us. Our son's future is looking bright, and it's all thanks to Learning Springs. It is with a heavy heart that I write this review of Learning Springs Academy. My two sons attended this school from November 2015 through May 2016. One is 2 and the other is 5 and had been diagnosed with mild high functioning autism in September 2015. We came to this school because it was an inclusion model and his prior school was not able to meet his special education needs. I would first like to start off my pointing out the positives at this school. The teachers are great. My sons have learned a tremendous amount from them and we appreciate their kindness. Our older son had made some great progress while he was there both academically and socially. My son has behavior issues, which is why we turned to this school. I should have been clued into this would not be a good fit for us anymore when they explained to me that I needed to sign a physical restraint protocol. I was explained that restraints were used in situations where a child posed a serious bodily risk to themselves or others. At the time we agreed to this request because frankly we had no idea where else our son could go for school. In the beginning our son had several trips to the office a day or in a week. After Christmas he had a rough time adjusting to the routine and we were required by the school to provide a 24-hour behavior aide for our son due to his aggressive behavior. Fortunately, we did see a positive change in the number of trips to the office, however we did notice there was an increase in the number of restraints used. The cost of utilizing the school aide was too much and so we contracted an outside vendor to provide services. When they arrived they observed my son being placed in an inappropriate restraint without going through the school's aggression protocols steps (which the school swears they did in a follow up meeting). On May 9th, I pulled my sons out of Learning Springs Academy. My older son did not sleep well and refused to clean up in class that day. He was hitting a teacher's foot and so had to go the office. He wouldn't go on his own. So his arms were pulled behind his back and when in the office he was held in a hold in the office in someone's lap. I was livid and decided to pull them out right then and there. We ended up reporting the school to Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing. As a result of the investigation from Community Care Licensing, it is my understanding that the school will no longer be allowed to use restraints to handle aggressive behavior. My daughter attended LSA last year and while it wasn't all bad, I am really glad she is moving to another preschool for the 2011-2012 year. I was looking for a school where we could both develop relationships, and she could meet some girls would might live in our neighborhood to do playdates with. There were only two other girls in her class, and their parents didn't speak English. That wasn't so much LSA's fault, but it was a big disappointment. I felt misled about the "extracurricular activities" which I was told included dance, Spanish, soccer, and cooking. I was led to believe these were either standard parts of the curriculum and occurred during school hours. I had to wait a month before their "fair" explaining it all. There was no cooking or Spanish offered, the dance class was over $100 a month and all classes started at 3pm, when I have to pick up my son from kindergarten. I wanted her to be able to enjoy these classes during school hours. Our previous school had a class called Little Movers which was $38 month and during school hours. I tried to get LSA to get in touch with Little Movers, and I know Little Movers approached them at my behest, but they wouldn't get Little Movers. Maybe my first tip off was the back to school BBQ, which promised a bounce house. It was the $300 Little Tikes version that doesn't even hold 5 kids, except there were about 50 kids all trying to get in, it was tipping over and collapsing. Finally someone went in and monitored the kids. i also had an opportunity to buy my LSA t-shirt so my daughter could show her "spirit" on spirit days. Screw that! I am not paying you more money for buy some spirit! I forgot to save my receipts for a few months and asked for reprints. I was informed that each receipt (a freakin' print out from QuickBooks) would cost $5, and to combine them onto one page would be $25. This is basic customer service. I was so shocked they would charge for this. The biggest issue I had was arriving to pick up my daughter and seeing four 3 year olds unattended in the yard. One of them asked me, a stranger, to open his juice box. I waited until a teacher came out, one I didn't know, and asked why these children were unattended. She said "they're not mine, they're not my responsibility!" I was furious. If you work here, you are ALL responsible for the safety of every child!!! Had she said "Oh no, I don't know where the teacher went, I assure you this was a temporary accident and I will supervise them and ensure the director knows what happened" I might not have been so inclined to write the director a scathing email. She accepted responsibility but also assigned blame to my daughter's teacher. The incident was never self-reported and it should have been. If I were more spiteful I could have reported it and had their license yanked. When I was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year they were accommodating about letting random friends pick my daughter up since I spent most of spring and summer in the hospital. I had informed them verbally in March that she would not be returning the next year, but while I was in the hospital getting a bone marrow transplant I neglected to write them a 30 days termination notice. Later I realized that was required to get my $250 deposit back. I asked them if they might make a special consideration for my circumstances and the fact that they had plenty of notice. The director wouldn't even take the time to respond to my emails about it, or didn't have the balls to say no so she just ignored me. When I needed a copy of the last receipt, I asked her if I could pay by pay pal since I couldn't go to the school and she actually waived the fee this time, but still refused to discuss the deposit, which I've written off by now. Her new school has just offered me free extra child care so I can pick my daughter up late on the days that I have doctor's appointments. LSA charged me $16/hour for that and I highly doubt they would consider a freebie. I am excited to be treated like a human at the new school and excited that my daughter's curriculum includes Spanish, sports, and sign language. I was reluctant to make her change again, but I know it will be a better experience. read more

I'd like to start my review by stating that my husband and I did receive lots of assistance and guidance from Lucia and the LSA team getting in, but because we were not one of the families making huge donations through the year, we ended up with no support at all for my son with his transition into the public education system. My son (with ASD) attended LSA since March 2015 until June 2016. He was in the Green Room. Most of the kids in this classroom have behavioral issues and/or special needs, and in my humble opinion, the Green Room is a Special Day Class. My son started here with some behavioral problems including hitting others. His first teacher, Karina M., was amazing and very experienced. She and her team helped him tremendously and within 4 weeks he was not hitting anymore. With his behavior under control, they were able to focused in other areas: academics, socialization and communication. He finished the 2014 - 2015 school year with an extraordinary improvement!. My husband and I were more than pleased with LSA and we decided to re-enroll him for another year. He also did 4 weeks of summer camp in July 2015 with no behavior at all. We started having problems with the new school year, 2015 - 2016. The Green Room had a new teacher (since Karina M. has left LSA) but the new teacher quit after only 2 weeks. Also, the Behavioral Specialist and some classroom Assistants were quitting. The Green Room classroom went through four different lead teachers in only two months! October and November 2015, were very difficult months for my son and for most children in his classroom due to so many changes and transitions. For my boy, all the old behaviors were back and he even picked up so many new behaviors, including swearing!. In February 2016, we were offered a Behavior Intervention Plan but their prices were outrageous, around $2500 just to start the plan, and there was not warranty that it will work (it says so on the contract). We declined the BIP and after this things went south! The communication wasn't the same: Lucia did not reply to our emails, and usually there was no one available at the office to answer any questions or concern. The Admin Assistance will take a message but Lucia will not call us back. Towards the end on the school year, May 2016, we were preparing an IEP for my son to go back to a public school and they did not co-operate in the process. They were not willing to attend the IEP meeting or even do teleconference, they also refused to fill out one page form (the Teacher Input). His teacher only provided little information over the phone but it was not enough to establish a baseline and new goals for my son. We couldn't have an IEP meeting because LSA refused to provided written information about my son's progress and challenges at school or his progress on his current goals. read more

My son went here for less than 6 months and we changed him to a different preschool. The Director, Lucia, is very nice and has a good background, which is the primary reason we enrolled our son here. Learning Springs is going throug ha lot of changes (i.e. increasing enrollment, turnover in teachers and administration) where it just seemed like the level of support our son was not being met due to all of these changes. Add to that the fact that Learning Springs tried charging us for different services where it felt like they were trying to make as much money as possible and we decided that this was not the right fit for us. I would not recommend Learning Springs at this time with all of the changes. read more

My son started going here back in July. He is 6yrs old. When he started he had many issues including hyper activity and sensory issues. After he had been there for 3 weeks he started to trust the staff and learned how to calm down. He has been a totally different child ever since! Lucia the director is amazing and all the staff has been so patient in understanding his needs. It is really hard to put into words how wonderful they are. I highly recommend them for a private school and for after school care. When I pick my son up at night he is so happy he doesn't want to go home, he would rather stay and play. read more

Pre k was great. Ashely and andres are great. Green room this year for K was not. Very small class with 4 out of 7 on the spectrum. Amy-- hmm not the greatest. Many with an aide. Day one my daughter was hit and it continued. She became scared of one boy who was hitting her. Well if that kid has such a major hitting issue then he should be shadowed. Lucia blew it off. Then my daughter started acting out and hitting and showing signs of regression. I have a pile of incident reports but she denies she saw any behavioral issues there. My daughters therapist called many times concerned and NEVER got a reply from Lucia or her teacher. NEVER. Unacceptable. They also lied and said my daughter never had a potty accident. I have proof on the log and from speaking to a teacher that she did several times. Her teacher couldn't manage to have my daughter wear her glasses on her dad days so for three days a week she wouldn't unless I stopped by to do it. Unacceptable. I must of gotten on Lucia's bad side when they didn't want me stopping in to drop things off or check on my daughter and her glasses. Now I come to find out that Lucia completely lied about me and threw me under the bus to the courts. That's why she was avoiding me (as she does to many people). Lied about my ex and I not being able to do a conference together because of our hostility. BS We had conferences together and it was due to fear and domestic violence! Yes fear of my ex Teachers reports were useless as they sugar coat everything. Many parents have said this as well. All about image ! She claims she told me things that she never did. As her school you ARE involved and it's your job to be honest and forthcoming with truthful information. Relaying information that may not be kind about your ex doing something that is causing major upset in your child is not bad mouthing. It's reality and isn't that helping the teacher understand why she's crying or angry etc which she was for several months. Snacks are gummies, pretzels, tortilla chips, cheese its, and often candy. Yeah I'm so glad someone has already filed a complaint about this place. They need a review done. She's as two faced as they come and that's why kids are leaving left and right and parents going years back have complaints about her. Heard she's a nightmare to work for, this the turnover. Wish I had known. So happy we left! Thinking my ex must of made a big donation or something cuz he's suddenly her best buddy and I'm a bad parent! Wow!!! Yup let the truth be told!!! read more

My four year old son has been here for about a year and he has learned and experienced things that have benefited his development academically and socially. We noticed an immediate impact with my son after he was potty trained within a month of starting and half a year of attempting at home. The whole family admires the Learning Springs so much that we'll soon be enrolling our second son. Our baby is very familiar with the academy since he sometimes goes to drop off and pick up his older brother. The baby loves being in the classrooms and playground and is already comfortable with the teachers and environment. I'm not sure if other schools or child care centers provide communication logs, but the ones I receive from Learning Springs are very helpful in letting us know what the lesson was for the day, how my son participated and even how he ate and slept for the day. On additional plus is the parents night out that the academy provides. We've only benefited from this once, due to scheduling, but we hope to take advantage more. Both boys enjoyed their one experience at LSA while mommy and daddy had their night out. Can't imagine what my son's growth would be like without LSA. read more

I like this afterschool. We use it for afterschool but since it is for kindergarten it is a long day from 11.30 to 6pm. My daughter is really happy here- she made so many friends from age 8 to age 4 (she is 5). The teachers are kind, loving and very calm, and there is great kid - staff ratio. Also they have plenty of space moving from one classroom to another, having big back yard to play in (and yes they get dirty, but they are kids, and are free to do whatever they want outside). It is not high end in any way, and snacks are pretty basic and not that great, but you can always send your own snacks. However the price is also affordable. And for all of you in Cambrian, Union school district - THEY PICK UP from other schools. So if you do not get into your local school aftercare - you have a solution. I like it better than Champions and am considering keeping her here. read more

My daughter attended Learning Springs for 2 years and the overall experience was nothing short of great. I was very happy with everything the school had to offer as well as the staff and teachers. This was my first exposure to a preschool and I searched high and low until I found a school that I felt comfortable leaving my daughter for the first time. All of these factors made for a very easy transition for us: -safe, nurturing environment -daily communication logs so I knew if my daughter finished her lunch, how long she napped for, what her overall mood was, and always a personalized note about something special my daughter did that day -emails from the teachers on a weekly basis explaining the upcoming events and what was happening in the classroom. I always knew what was going on. -open door policy. I could always walk in to the office at any time and speak to the director Lucia or assistant director, Karina to discuss anything and they were always happy to help out. The classrooms are large, appealing, clean, organized, and well equipped. The playground large with multiple play structures. They also have a great curriculum which had my daughter coming home excited about all the things they were learning each day. She still sings alot of the songs she learned almost 2.5 years ago. I also appreciated the assessments they did twice a year so I could see my daughter progress. I have to say, one of the biggest things I appreciated was their flexibility. Our first year, I wasn't working so I sent my daughter only in the mornings. In the middle of her second year, I went back to work part time and Lucia was very flexible and accomodating and worked out a schedule that best suited my needs. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better first preschool experience, I highly recommend them, and I look forward to sending my younger daughter there later this year. read more

I could not have asked for a better preschool to send my kids! Between my two children we have now been at Learning Springs going on 4 years. The school, as a whole, does an excellent job at fostering a love for learning. The school has 4 different classrooms based on age of child and the child's Kindergarten start date. It provides a full spectrum of education starting with the basics (alphabets, numbers, colors, shapes, etc) to specialized areas (phonics, reading, science, cooking, math, etc). Learning Springs provides a good balance between structured educational time and free play/learning time. My children are so excited about the new things that they learn. I enjoy listening to what my kids have to share about the things they've learned in school. As if the preschool program wasn't good enough, Learning Springs has an excellent after school program! My child goes to Learning Springs after his day at Kindergarten is over. Going back to Learning Springs after his Kindergarten time made for such a smooth transition into Kindergarten. My child's anxiety of starting new at Kindergarten was completely diminished knowing that he would still be able to enjoy the second half of his day with the teachers and friends that he was so familiar with. The after school program gives the kids a chance to unwind, but there is also time allotted for the kids to do their homework. Often times homework will be completed and reviewed during the after school program, which means the parents don't have to battle out homework with the kids after a long day =). All of the teachers and staff are wonderful. They are all nurturing and caring in their interactions with the children. Everyone is easily accessible either through phone or email. My favorite thing about the school, if I had to pick one, is that the school is so flexible and tries its best to accommodate my requests for my child. For example, my son has a strong desire to read and/or be read to. To encourage his love for reading, the teacher takes extra time to spend with him to read, he was also paired up with an older after school student to read together. The staff is great at pinpointing strengths and weaknesses in each child and working on how to foster further development in areas as needed. read more

We had researched and tried out some other day care centers and preschools for our son with little success, and gave Learning Springs Academy a shot,even though it was fairly far away from our home, all the way on the other side of San Jose (we live at the Milpitas border). We felt a good connection right away with the director, and when we discussed our son's needs with her, she said, without hesitation, that the school could accommodate him. We were completely and happily surprised with how well the staff were willing to work with us and our son, and the care and concern they showed to him even when he was not having a good day. Everyone, from the teachers to the asst. director and the director was very involved and communicated with us very regularly about how our son was doing, and what they felt would be the appropriate next steps to ensure his success and continued learning. He has grown so much, and now that he is attending kindergarten, he is WAY ahead of his peers, to the point that his teachers need to get homework from the 1st grade teachers to keep him interested. I have to credit LSA for all the gains he has made, both academically and socially. There are special events every month, and our older son also enjoys going to the fairs, even though he is in fourth grade now. LSA really fosters a sense of community among all the families that have children there; all you need to do is show up, and you will feel it, too. We feel so blessed to have found Learning Springs, and we continue to send each other updates. Even though our son has 'graduated' from LSA, we thought of them first when considering where to have him stay while his regular school is on winter break, and they graciously agreed to have him come back. His teachers are still there, and he was so happy to see her, as well as seeing his other playground friends from last year. read more

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place and all the staff too! Everyone here is amazing! We've been coming here for almost a year now. My daughter attends the preschool program and my son is there for their after school, school-age program. Both of my kids are excited about going to school here. They love their teachers, and are always excited to show me the things they have learned. My son loves doing his science projects in the after school program and loves to learn new words in Spanish. My daughter loves her teacher in the red room and loves all the cool and exciting programs they work on. They have a lot of different activities throughout the year for the kids to do, like going to the pumpkin patch, having an Easter egg hunt, visits from people with reptiles, visits from police and firefighters, etc. They are always learning so much. They are learning words in Spanish, cooking in the classroom (and they somehow even managed to get my picky eater to try new foods too!). They offered group activities to learn social skills with other kids and they offer baseball and soccer, all at an extra cost if you are interested in those programs too. We had lots of opportunities to meet other parents at school events and if you are willing to put yourself out there to meet other families, you can make a lot of new friends for yourself too... even from the other classrooms! The women behind the scenes in the front office, Karina and Lucia, are so very friendly and extremely helpful. They keep things running smoothly, communicate with families regularly and are more than willing to work with you if something comes up. Just keep the communication lines open so they know what is going on. Every night we receive a communication log from the teachers that comes home with the kids. These logs let us know what was happening during the day. I need to say that I have really appreciated these. If you are looking for a fun place with great staff and a fantastic learning environment in multiple age groups, then this is the place for you and your kids!! Learning Springs is a fantastic preschool! We currently have 2 children attending, and my husband and I couldn't be happier with the school, its Director and the teachers. The Director's philosophy is that if children have a great first experience with school, it will foster a lifelong love of learning, and children will really enjoy school for the duration of their education. We believe she is right on track with this philosophy, and our children are off to a great start - they certainly enjoy school at Learning Springs! Our children have improved by leaps and bounds in so many areas such as academics, fine motor skills and social interaction since they started school at Learning Springs. The teachers are very well qualified and very enthusiastic about teaching, and they make learning a lot of fun for the kids. They seem to genuinely care about the kids. The curriculum is well planned in both academics and electives such as Spanish and cooking. The school prepares the children for kindergarten and beyond. Learning Springs also offers a lot of fun activities for the parents, too. In addition to participating in school events with the children, parents are offered monthly Parents Night Out, where the teachers stay late with the kids and offer them pizza and a movie while the parents are free to have a date night. Also, parents are offered monthly educational seminars on such topics as child development, CPR, and positive discipline. We have found these parent seminars to be extremely helpful. When deciding where to put my two young boys in school at a young age was very difficult for me. I went to a number of places before finding Learning Springs Academy, and knew once I left there, that that's where my boys would be going to school. The teachers are amazing and the best is seeing how happy my boys are and how much fun they have during the day. My 2 kids attended the after school/preschool program. It looks clean & the staff attempt to care. However, there is a lot more going on. I witnessed the younger teachers yelling at a child. I seen 1 child acting out yelling, slamming his head against the wall & throwing things & the teachers sat there doing nothing. They told me my daughter had lice to come pick her up. When I got home I seen nothing in her hair. I made an appt. w/ her MD who said she did not have lice. I got a call saying to pick my son up he was throwing up & they didn't know why. Later I was getting him ready for bed I noticed he has a big black bruise on his chin when I asked him what happened he said one of the kids pushed him & since he did not have a fever or any other symptoms it was not mentioned by the preschool. Looking into it we found out him & another child were playing & he was pushed into a cement corner. No apology was made. Had the fall been more serious the outcome could have turned out differently. My family & I have been sick every week w/everything from pink eye, strep throat, scarlet fever, continuous cold & flus & in speaking to the other parents who were, they were also missing many days of work due to the same problems. This preschool has gone through many staff changes since we have been there in the last 11 months. Our son is very cautious about who he is close too & as soon as he gets attached to a teacher, she is gone. They said my son, who was 2 at the time needed to be evaluated for speech therapy. I left work many days to apply w/ the school district, to attend the evaluation process, to take my son to two testing days & to go back for the results only for them to tell me why was he referred? He's two young to see if there is a communication problem. There were also several times when we would pick up the kids & my sons pull up was full & leaking through his clothes or he was in feces. We would change him ourselves on the premises. The last couple months were the hardest. We fell behind & were grateful that LSA worked w/ us. My fiancé was let go & upon finding another position we received notice that we had to move. We slept on someone's floor for 4 weeks (me, my fiancé and 3 children) before finding another home. When we did it was 600 more a month. We asked LSA if we could take a 4 week hiatus so we had to come up w/ the 4,000 to move. LSA agreed. Upon returning to LSA my fiancé was laid off yet again. We discussed it & agreed that it was better for our family to take the kids out of LSA. I notified them the following Tuesday that I was removing the kids from the program because I did not want an add 'l balance & I to credit the deposit that I paid for both children which was $720 to what I owed. Thursday at 2:00 pm I received an email from Karina in the office that I owed $1452 and that it was due by the next day and they could not credit my deposit since they did not receive a 30 notice prior to removing the children. By Friday at 8:00 pm I had gotten an email from Lucia stating that she was disappointed that she did not get payment and she was hoping the situation could be handled in an amicable way or it would be turned over to her attorney. I emailed her and let her know that I was sorry that I had not contacted her on Friday and I suggested a payment option I could make and if that was not acceptable to contact me and let me know so we could work something out. I received another email from Lucia about 12:45 on Tuesday and she said that she had turned everything over to the attorney. My kids have been in several preschool/after school programs & never experienced what we did at this school. I would seriously consider sending your kids here due to the staff changes, them being sick all the time and especially after not getting the deposit credited. It would be one thing if we just pulled them out and took them to another center...it's another to be sick, have or death in the family or to be laid off. The $720 deposit is more than half of what I make every two weeks and to not get it credited after everything we had already experienced was a kick while we were down. We hadn't even filled out the "withdrawal" paperwork that was emailed to me from the day before and were already getting told that the account was already sent to her attorney. Read the other reviews and make your own decision but tread carefully. Update: After paying off my balance I received yet another bill from Lucia stating that I now owed my ex-husband's portion of the bill even though the billing was done separately & because they had not gotten the required paperwork from him in order to collect. Even knowing that he was required by the court to pay half all daycare expenses & there was a current restraining order refraining him from seeing the children & myself. She took me to court & sued me for his balance. read more

At first it was awesome til my stepson was always dirty when I would pick him up I would have to change him. Then I came and one girl said he threw up and slept a lot at home he had the biggest black bruise on his chin. First thought my baby got hurt and you guys said nothing and let him sleep... They change teachers more than they will change you kids... The director only wants your money she literally stole from my family under the premise of well we worked with you.. Right doesn't wrong anyone and these people are wrong... Lost my job lost our home and she kicked my kids out stole 800$ and sued us to steal more and left out money we payed her... Stay away unless you don't mind rotating teachers... Well students so she pays then cheap so they leave I stayed in contact with a couple so listen up... At a time I loved it but it was so sour and evil at the end.. They do it to everyone.... Its not Stratford!!!!! read more

I was not happy with this school because my son ate an poop from the bunny they keep in the classroom. The teacher never know what happen until I took him home and ask. When I call the director, her first reaction is "this is impossible, it never happen in our school" well, in preschool, everything will happen. They have no any concern and apologize for that. And trying to push it away. I ask them to move the bunny out of the classroom, they refuse. And another thing they have TV in the classroom. They sometimes use TV to babysit kids in the afternoon. Maybe some parents think it is ok. But for a parent limit TV at home and want the kids more social with others is NOT OK.I know some elementary school has one,but this is preschool.Do we need pay money to let TV babysit them?I ask the director and tell her i am not accept the TV. Her attitude is very bad. Never stand on parents side to think about education. And I feel my son is not safe in the school. I want to take him home right away. She said you can go find a school without TV and no Bunny. I said OK please give me back my $500 deposit. She refuse. I have to stay one more month. :( What a bad school. Let parents not feel comfortable to sent kids to.And I register this school because they have spots. No wonder all the nearby school all full and this one still have spots. read more

Both of my sons attended LSA when they were in preschool. I loved it and they loved it. They loved it so much that they still ask to go to Parents' Night Out even though they are now in elementary school. Parents' Night Out is held once per month from 6 to 9pm to allow parents to go out for dinner. The kids come in their pajamas, eat pizza, do crafts and have lots of fun for an extremely reasonable price, much less than what a babysitter would cost. When my sons were in preschool at LSA, they both received extremely personalized care. The director noticed that my older son exhibited some characteristics of a child with Asperger's and after I had him assessed, he was diagnosed as Asperger's. He has been getting pragmatic speech therapy and social training since he was four years old. He received such great training at LSA to help with his social issues. He went on to a regular classroom in public elementary school where he is on the honor roll. I am positive that had it not been for the extra attention and care he received at LSA he would not be doing as well today. My younger son also received great individual attention. He was a very active guy, and they had great strategies for helping him join circle time and being calm when it was time to learn. I was really impressed that all the teachers had bachelors degrees, the director has two masters degrees (in special ed and psychology), and the communication with parents is amazing. There are daily communication logs that go home and the teachers and directors send individualized emails on a regular basis. LSA provided a great balance between academic achievement and play time to help children grow socially and academically. My boys loved it! Finding a good preschool is very difficult so I feel very lucky that we found LSA. read more

I was recommended to Learning Springs by a friend, and since then my overall experience with them has been great! My daughter has been attending preschool here going on 5 months now and looks forward to going everyday. The classroom is very welcoming and organized, equipped with books, toys, round tables, cubbies, and crafts, and they also have a huge playground in the back where the kids get to have recess. The staff is very friendly, and the teachers do a great job of keeping you updated daily on your child's progress. They also have a great curriculum for the kids where each week has a new theme that incorporates new letters, numbers, shapes, people, places, etc. to learn. It's really an amazing feeling to hear my daughter come home singing the songs she's learned in school and telling me about all the things she's learning. The schedules are flexible, prices are very reasonable. Overall, Learning Springs is a great school and I highly recommend them for any parents looking for a preschool. read more

Both my kids have been attending LS since the beginning of March. I've noticed improvement in my son's reading and writing abilities. The only complaint he has it that he is asked to lay down and rest at nap time. Parents received a communication log everyday that tells you what kid of work your child worked on, if they ate snack and lunch, bathroom use, etc. The teachers always write a little something to give you a peek into your child's day. I love this school. I first brought my son in 4 years ago and now my daughter. My son came into pre-k from another school not knowing anything and after the one year he was able to read, write his name , some addition and learn to read the clock My daughter is only 3 and she is loving her teacher and learning new things each day. The director is always planning special events for the students and takes parents concerns seriously. This school always goes above and beyond and I appreciate it very much. Both my children have gone through Learning Springs over the course of the past 3 years. The school is great for pre-school aged children because it is small enough that the children do not feel overwhelmed yet large enough that the children can progress though different learning stages. My daughter entered kindergarten this past fall and was extremely well prepared for school. Lucia has a strong educational background and is very dedicated to seeing each child succeed. She faces challenges as all small businesses do such as some staff turnover and trying to keep costs down, but she is always supportive and has the children's best interest in mind. Both my girls attended Learning Springs for about 2.5 years back in 2007-8 timeframe, and most recently in afterschool program. It has been a safe, positive learning experience, fun indoors and outdoors, and great headstart for our children. The reading and activity skills they developed at LS carried to elementary school that their scores are at advanced level in STAR testing. They also picked up good manners and habits taught at LS that helped them quickly adapt and bring appropriate social skills to the public school environment. Lucia and her staff have done a spectacular job in starting, running and bringing the pre-school to this level over so many years. We found the pricing less expensive than the pre-school option at other private schools such as Challenger, and very conveniently located in our neighborhood. read more

I was recommended to Learning Springs by one of my son's school friends's mom.My son just started Kindergarten at Oster Elementary and I had very few options for his after school care. I had initially signed up for his after school clubhouse which is located inside the school but just two days after staying there, my son did not want to go there anymore.Thats when I was recommended Learning Springs. Ms Karina was gracious enough to bring me the registration packet at Oster elementary where I met her at Kindergarten pick up time saving me a trip to LSA. So now after his class is over at 11:25, LSA picks him up from Oster and then he has lunch there after which they have tons of stuff to do. My son just loves LSA...he is really happy there...They do lots of stuff like science experiments, drawing, cooking etc, They also have soccer play every Wednesdays at 3 at the campus so that way I dont have to take him to classes after work All in all...I think it is one of the best After school options available in the area... I had started my doughter in this preschool and havent had a good experience.I have to say its only been 2 weeks and my doughter is very unhappy to go there..so as of today ill quit taking her there.The first day i stayed in class to see how is everything with my doughter and see the activities that they do..its was a very unplesant experience:(.the kids were using potty words trough the whole one and half hour that i was there.the teacher would tell them to stop but not on a profesional way and not a follow trough with the situation..i thought that would change but when my doughter comes home she tells me that the kids use POTTY WORDS all day..this is not an inviroment that i want my kids to grow on.Also when we take her in the class in the morning the class is dirty..probbly they dont clean daily but it ispretty filthy there.when i was there the first day the teacher just put the cd on and gave the kids a book and thats a story time...some kids didnt even know how to keep the book the wright way..some where upside down,some on the wrong page and the kids just doing their own thing ..the teacher was sitting on top pf the table not on a chair around the kids..Very unprofessional.The director her name is Lucia she is a very nice person ,i liked the way she talked to me when i first started ,very clear and very proffesional.Add to that the fact that Learning Springs tried charging us for different services where it felt like they were trying to make as much money as possible and we decided that this was not the right fit for us.I was on th eout side taling to one of the other parents and i walked in they said its a charge 1$ a min..maybe they should pay me 10$ a min that my doughter spends listening the potty words!! I am very happy to have our daughter at Learning Springs. The staff and I have wonderful communication this year, and she has made so much progress in the red room. The staff and her teacher are doing an excellent job preparing her for Kindergarten next Fall. She has friends, is learning to share, and recognizes letters and numbers and is currently learning SITE words. Last year at Learnings Springs she was very clinging to mom, and shy. She is the complete opposite and has come so far. I am so proud of my daughter, my "Student of the Month" at Learning Springs. read more

My two children age 5 and 3 attend Learning Springs Academy and have been there for almost two years. My youngest started in the two year old room (yellow), and oldest started in the 3 year old room (blue). I have now experienced all 4 rooms (yellow, blue, red and green) I cannot say enough good things about this school. Ms. Lucia (the director) and all the teachers are so welcoming, PATIENT, caring and loving. My daughter was very shy, reserved and pretty nervous about any kind of changes, and the staff have turned her into a blossoming outgoing fun girl! My youngest (son) is the opposite, he is rambunctious, attention loving,silly and a bit wild, and they too have helped him with his sometimes wild behavior. I noticed the recent review from a parent regarding restraint on her son and I want to share my story as a parent who's children attended during her two sons time at LSA. Very sweet family, and both my kids had her sons in class with them. My daughter was with her oldest son who had multiple aggressive acts. She would share a few stories about him, and her underlying "unsureness" of him and what he may do next. I had a few incident reports I had to sign from aggressive acts from her son being done to my children. One being a chair thrown at my napping son, and the other being my daughter slapped when she was helping the teacher clear stations. I also observed him being brought to office by Ms Lucia one time, and he was a handful and appeared very difficult to manage. I sympathized for the staff and for his mom. All our kids can act up, but he did seem more difficult and aggressive then others. From what I know about EVERYONE at LSA whatever reactions they had to this situation were done out of love and care for him and for all the students enrolled in LSA, as well to help maintain a safe environment for all. They had to make tough decisions I am sure, I just want to do my part to help those looking for a great school to not let the other review scare you away. I drive 40 minutes opposite my way home from work to keep my kids at this school....I looked for a new school last year when we purchased a home out of the area, and I could not find anywhere that had staff and a facility like LSA. They go out of their way to make parents and students feel special, they have fun events like mothers day tea, fathers day donuts, hop a thon at Easter, Santa comes to visit kids, school holiday performance, a year book, daily communication logs and the list goes on and on. Thanks LSA for all your hard work, it does not go unnoticed, and frankly anyone who devotes their life to helping children deserves respect and gratitude. read more
