My daughter has been attending this after school program for at least 5 years. About 1 year ago, new owners acquired the school and made some great and much needed changes to the facility. I love the teachers here. They are very caring and really takes good care of my kids. Sometimes people ask so much about curriculum but these are little kids!!! All I want is a safe, caring, and encouraging environment for them to grow up happy. They have been also super careful with covid which I really greatly appreciated :) The teachers are also very reachable and responsive. You can get direct access to teachers through the app... and the teachers will respond. You don't have to "call the office" and then the office would "take a message" type of black hole nonsense which of course calls never get returned. read more

This review is for both their bilingual Montessori preschool and bilingual after school/summer camp program. Both my 4 year old and my 8 year old daughters attend J&R Learning Center. My 4 year old attends the preschool and my 8 year old attends the summer camp program. We truly enjoy the program and feel very safe to bring our kids there during the pandemic. All the teachers are amazing and truly care about the kids. They are very knowledgeable and they all have been teaching for many years. The pandemic definitely has made everything very tough, but my husband and I feel very safe to send our kids there because the teachers and the director are always following proper protocol and ensuring that the kids are healthy and safe. The teachers wear masks all the time and they check everyone's temperature before entering into the school. At the same time, all the teachers have worked very hard to make sure that the kids are happy and comfortable at the school and understand the concept of the pandemic and how to keep good hygiene. Mrs. Li, the director, is very passionate about her program and always makes sure that all kids learn under a very safe and organized environment. Both of my daughters are very happy at the school and learn a lot there. They are both eager to to attend school and actually look forward to going every morning! Great school! read more

Mrs Renee and Mrs Amie are such amazing and caring teachers. I am so happy that my children have and had them as teachers. My daughter has been with Mrs Renee since she was 2 and not speaking any English at all, and now she just started kindergarten and she is doing so well, being so well prepared. My son was previously in a toddler class at another pre-school and he was starting to dislike it. Since he moved to J&R he is so happy to go to school every morning. They have so many activities and learn so much, all while having fun. Also, they worked so diligently during the shelter in place to keep working with the children and keep them in a state of normality, and later, when they returned, to keep them safe. I couldn't be happier and more appreciative for all the love and care. Without any doubt, this is and has been the best school we could have hoped for for our my kids. read more

Our daughter has attended J&R since Oct 2019, and we are really glad we chose this place. They practice a true Montessori program (instead of like most preschools in the area, which are Montessori in name only). We aren't deeply invested in the Montessori philosphy per se, but we are glad that they are authentic in their advertising and practice. The teachers and staff are very responsive and obviously care deeply about the children. Our daughter enjoys the teachers and we like the small group environment of a one room schoolhouse. read more

If you're looking for a safe, educational, and loving school J&R is the best place to go. My son has been going here for 2 years. Unlike other daycares/schools J&R has gone above and beyond when taking care of my child. I know as a mom we want the best for our children. We want to make sure that they are safe and have as many opportunities in life. J&R has shown that in many ways. From caring teachers like Ms. Amie and Ms. Rene to an awesome director Ms. Li their main focus is always the children. Even through this pandemic they have been a source of comfort, and enjoyment. All the teachers there are wonderful with the children. I know this place is so good because my son would rather go to school on the weekends then stay home because he has so much fun here. I love their teaching methods and curriculums. Each week the parents are sent the weekly curriculum for that week which is awesome. They also have an app that they use to check in and out your children. They send photos and announcements through this app if anyone is like me I get loads of email and sometimes can drown out school emails, no worries because this school is wonderful on communication with parents not only do they send an email they also post on the app. If you have older kids, J&R is perfect as well since they have an after-school program. Once our son is in grade school he will be going to that program as well. Overall this school is wonderful and it is a hidden gem. read more

I learned about J&R Learning Center through my friend whose neighbor's 3 girls all went to J&R for preschool and after school programs. After a thorough comparison with all the bilingual (mandarin & English) preschools near our house, we concluded J&R was the most suitable preschool for our daughter for the following reasons: - Large facility: preschool facility is very spacious with different rooms for study and play. They also have a fairly large open outside playground that separates classrooms for older kids and preschoolers - More flexible hours from 7:30am to 7pm. - Healthy snack and food choices - Extra enrichment classes to sign up for (with additional cost) so we don't have to drive kids around outside the preschool. - Diaper training: I don't recall my daughter ever having any diaper rash when she was on diapers at J&R. Ms. Michele was the one who notified us when my daughter was ready for diaper training. She initiated the training by asking us to bring extra underwear, pants and shoes to school. We truly appreciated it as Ms. Michele made the process easy and smooth. - Experienced and attentive teachers, who set J&R apart from the rest of the preschools. They are so proactive and experienced, and even able to guide us through parenting as first time parents. My daughter was about 24 months old when she first joined J&R. We were so concerned if she could follow the school curriculum. Ms. Michelle, preschool Director there, made sure that our daughter felt comfortable. She made sure that our daughter was a part of play group during play time, so she felt connected. Throughout the years, I have noticed Ms. Michele took the same approach to all the newly enrolled kids and is supper attentive by always strategically standing in the middle of the room/playground to make sure kids are behaved properly and everyone is nice to each other. Ms. Michele also communicates with us very well in terms of our daughter's recent developments. Even when my daughter got into trouble, she would tell us what happened and what they did to handle the issue. She never made us feel bad at any given time when our daughter wasn't behaving properly. I personally always go to Ms. Michele for advice when facing challenges as part of my daughter's childhood development. The other main teacher, Ms. Yiwen, was also extremely helpful and proactive. Post diaper training, she always remembered to remind my daughter to go potty knowing she might purposely be holding it. I noticed she would put sunscreen on all the kids before recess time outside under the sun. All the rest of the teachers are all well trained and responsible. With the flexible hours and attentive and experienced teachers, I highly recommend J&R to preschoolers and after school programs. read more

My son is 6.5 years old, I always wanted to put him in a Bilingual school to learn Chinese. We tried to put him in 2 other Chinese schools, both has found him too active to stay in their schools. Most Bilingual schools that we visited prefers to have kids that would sit still and listen. But the director in this school is awesome, she was able to build relationship with my boy, the class is more interesting and fun, plus she gives the kids lots of outdoor time instead of 15 mins all day in previous school. Both my 6-year-old and my 3-year-old are now in J&R, after school Chinese class and preschool respectively. They love the school and the teacher. read more

J&r is a perfect School. My son has been attending the school for 2 years. Every time my son sees the building he gets super excited. The teachers build wonderful relationships with students. I love the communication they have with the parents. The curriculum is awesome as well. It is hard to find a daycare / school that you feel comfortable with but don't worry because the staff will take care of those fears. Not only are the teachers amazing but the directors of the school are out of this world. How much work and time they put in to my child throughout these past two years amazes me. Education aside, what makes the school great is that they also teach life lessons that the children can carry with them and apply everywhere else. They are like family. This school is wonderful .My 4 yr old little boy wants to go right when he wakes up. The teachers know the students and create their own learning plan. Each week a schedule of lesson plans and activities are emailed out. This gives me questions to ask and support his learning. They are highly recommended. read more
