Last time I was in Culebra my brother in law came back to the villa we were sharing with delicious lechón. It was so tasty and the skin was so crispy. This time we took our kid to the playground across from the Escuela Ecológica after breakfast. We noticed the food truck and had to order. It didn't matter we had just eaten breakfast. We ordered to take back to the villa for lunch. It was just as delicious as the first time I had it. I highly recommend trying it.

I was walking on Calle Escudero from town towards Flamenco Beach and was so lucky to see the truck pull up on Friday morning 10am. The roast pig looked amazing so I had to stop! After the two friendly staff members set up the truck, I got a box to go with perfect crispy pig skin, rice and a green banana. The nice guy who was cutting the pork also have me a few pieces of the skin to try lol. Everything was so well flavored and worth the $10. Some of the pork was a bit dry, but all of it was flavorful. (Tip: I was here in mid-March so not sure where they usually park, but I found them on Escudero a few blocks north from the shop La Cava. Ask a local. Also they're only open Friday and weekends)

This review is intended for non-locals…read more I have an app on my iPhone to record the noise level and after five visits (their "siete potencias" fish soup is out of this world good) can tell you they keep the music level at an average of 98.3 dB. If you worked at the airport and stood next to a revving jet engine, that would be about 100dB. Not surprisingly, you will need a megaphone to be heard while you are placing your orders. Also, bring some constructions red flags to wave uncontrollably in order for you to get the attention of the servers at no other than the ordering spot on the counter. To say the service is slow would be an understatement. Based on five visits I would estimate there is a 99% probability they will get something wrong with your order. Stray dogs (and chickens) roam the dinning area (I wish it wasn't so), if you need to use the bathrooms there is a 100% probability it hasn't been cleaned on that day and there will not be any paper towel (that is pretty much guaranteed). The trash cans in the dinning area will always be overfilled with trash. You may be tempted to empty their trash cans, in an act of random kindness, in the dumpster adjacent to the restaurant but I will discourage you from getting within 50 feet of that dumpster. The "view" along with the stench will likely have you running to your car and you will not be able to run away fast enough. I saved the best for last. This passed Friday I stopped there, yet again. Why, you may ask? Because I am telling you, their fish soup keeps me coming back to it. The experience was the same as the other four times except this time there was no queue to order (it still took about ten minutes to order) and a "chinchorreo bus" pulled up right behind us with about 50 people! After getting our lunch (for three people) and the mandatory fish soup, I stood there trying to pay for about 15-20 minutes. It did not matter what I did to try to get their attention (and I was right there at the counter), they either ignored me or could not see or hear me, which would not be surprising. And so I did what I had never done in my life: I walked away, got in my car and went home (without paying). I do not recommend you do the same but my frustration level was at the highest it has ever been, mostly because the workers kept ignoring me regardless of what I did to get their attention. I kept waiving my debit card in hand, lunch on the counter and my two daughters behind me asking "what is wrong with them?" Every two minutes or so. Two things will happen now: I will offer to pay for that lunch on the next visit (I am telling you, I am addicted to that darn fish soup!), or they will contact me after reading this review, at which time I will pay them with 100% premium for not doing it when I should have. I still will not leave a tip... In summary, their fish soup is to die for, their service is so bad there isn't a scale to measure it, the music is so loud you should consider it as dangerous to your hearing, you should bring a megaphone to be heard placing your order or asking for the bill, and you will wonder how on earth this place stays in business. And the answer to that last question is, because people like me May complain and warn others about the health hazards of coming to this place, yet we still come back for that darn fish soup...

The line is always long here but it moves at a good pace, and totally worth it. Don't be intimidated by the people who work here, they aren't very friendly at all. I am Mexican and Puerto Rican, so my Spanish is a mix of both. When i placed my order there was something I said wrong and the girl taking my order laughed a irritated laugh and corrected me. I thought that was pretty rude, and her demeanor was just not it. However, i will say at the end of our encounter she was nice to me, because i treated her with kindness and didnt let it get to me. Im on vacation and i wasn't going to let her bad attitude affect me. The food was amazing and I would go back again in a heartbeat. We ordered a half chicken grilled. Arroz con gandules, longaniza de pollo, tostones. ALL FIRE. TRUST ME! EAT HERE. IF YOU CAN MORE THAN ONCE.

Our group was pretty desperate for some lunch so we were relieved to see that Tiki's Grill was open, though for takeout only. They have a menu on the door with names of the dishes only. When asked about prices, the waitress only said that dishes were "mostly over $10" and that add ons were "a couple dollars." It was a bit annoying but we were hungry and willing to pay. It turned out that each dish was about $11 to $12 and add-ons like sweet plantains were about $1. We waited a really long time but I didn't mind too much since it seemed like each dish was being freshly made/fried. I personally got a fried fish taco bowl. The fried fish was pretty good. It seemed fresh and was covered in an avocado/guacamole sauce. The base ingredients were average (just some lettuce and tomato). Overall Tiki's Grill got the job done. Just be aware that things on Culebra work on island time, even more so than the main island. Also we didn't come to Culebra for the cuisine after all so I wasn't too bothered.

The waitress was incredibly rude to us, answering our questions about the price of the food (not on…read morethe menu) and what is in the food (also not on the menu). She refused to answer our question about how much the food costs. She also told us it would be ready in 20 minutes and when we went back in 20 she was like well it's fresh fish to be fried come back in a couple minutes, but it ended up being an hour long wait. The fish was also incredibly salty and the taco bowls only had lettuce and tomatoes in it. Would not recommend.
