New to Stamford, I was looking to replace a 25+ year old roof that was beginning to fail on a house I had moved into a few months prior. I called a couple of roofers with good reviews on Google, but was immediately put off by their lack of professionalism. As a business person myself, if a vendor fails to get back to me within 72 hours and/or doesn't keep an appointment without any notification, I immediately scratch them off my list. I take this kind of behavior as a very bad sign, and at best, indications of a poorly run business. Based on excellent reviews on YELP, I contacted Luis Clavijos, owner of Lecla Home Improvements, and I'm so glad that I did! Luis and crew are the epitome of professionalism and fantastic to work with. Luis arrived on time to review the work I was looking to get done (new roof, gutters, shutters and revitalized portico with columns). I mentioned that I was considering beefing-up the look of my windows by adding thicker trim to the exterior frames. Luis advised against it, explaining that adding additional trim would require cutting into the cedar siding, which would compromise its integrity. He assured me that the new shutters would give the windows the "oomph" I was looking for. Luis was right, but what struck me was his desire to do the right thing. Here was an opportunity to add an extra couple of thousand dollars to the job, but being a man of integrity, Luis put ethics above the potential to earn extra money. I immediately realized that I was dealing with an honest man. That night, Luis followed-up with an itemized estimate, plus proof of insurance and licensing info., which I hadn't even asked for yet (more positive signs speaking to his commitment to professionalism). The price was fair and reasonable. I signed the contract, Luis dropped off a sample book and we set a date to begin the work. A few days before the work was scheduled to begin, Val called to explain that rain was in the forecast. Val filled me in on when the materials would deliver and what the revised start date would be, based on if/when the rain arrived. Once again, I was impressed with the proactive organization and continuous communication via phone and follow-up email. - truly excellent and not very common in business today. Luis and crew worked tirelessly and carefully, and checked-in with me periodically to make sure I was pleased with my selections and the work (Luis knew I was second-guessing one of my choices for the fascia for the portico). You could see the look of pride in the men's faces when I was looking at their work. The portico came out exactly as I had hoped, as did the roof, which looks fantastic. The work was performed very carefully (netting is installed prior to the roof work to ensure that debris doesn't damage landscaping), and the new gutters look great. The men were very professional, worked very hard and took great care in their work, including the clean-up. I can't say say enough great things about Luis Clavijo and Lecla Home Improvements. I'll be calling this Spring to install new doors and to do some additional work. I'm very happy (and relieved) to have found a talented and trustworthy home improvement team. I am extremely pleased with Lecla Home Improvements. When I discovered a leak in my roof I called them and Scott came out right away to evaluate the situation. It turned out that I needed a heckuva lot more than just a leak repair. I had an enormous amount of rot under the shingles of my roof, as well as around a large basement window, front door, and porch steps. An estimate was provided within 24 hours, contract and financing within another 24 hours (with no stress or pain, I should add) and the Lecla Team came shortly after that...and during our first cold snap of the season. Despite the cold, the finished up everything within 3 days (did I mention fixing the rot and putting a new roof on my garage as well?). After looking over the construction, Scott, the Project Manager, discovered a section that he was not pleased with. Scott called me and let know that he is sending his crew back to rectify it. I hadn't noticed it myself and I am very impressed with the extra attention Lecla provides to ensure the work meets their standards. My roof no longer leaks and drafts associated with the basement window and front door have also ceased. I have nice new steps on a newly extended porch landing and they rehung my storm door better than I had done! My wife and I are very happy and we've already recommended them to friends and neighbors and will certainly continue to do so. Cedar Siding and trim removed, vinyl siding and trim installed, roofing removed and replaced, and new gutters. After doing business with owner Luis Clavijo it is easy to understand how he has built a very successful business. He has old fashioned values that are very hard to find now a days. He was fairly priced, he did what he said he would do / when he said he would do it, and he and his team do quality work that they take pride in. He was recommended to me by a friend who's house he roofed. The friend gave Luis a glowing review. I received bids from others but none of them instilled me with the confidence that he gave me. Just a feeling that turned out to be correct. You will always deal with Luis the owner. When you call him, he either answers or calls right back. His company is just the right size. Large enough to get the job done quickly but small enough to eliminate price inflating overhead such as salesmen who never swung a hammer. I do most work myself because I am frugal and have high standards that few of today's professionals meet. This job was just WAY too big. I was a pain in the butt but Luis and his team were always responsive and accommodating. My yard looked better when they were done than when they started. read more

I heard about Lecla from a friend of mine who does remodeling. They came out in mid-December and spent an hour or two on the steep roof of my colonial house, checking everything. They called a day or 2 later with the price, which was less than I was expecting and less than other quotes I had received. That concerned me but my friend reassured me that they do excellent work. He was right!! They showed up at 7AM on a day with the temperature in the upper 30's and got to work, covering everything (deck, plantings, porches) with tarps and then got to work. By the end of the day, they had completely stripped the old roof, replaced 10 sheets of sheathing that had rotted out, removed and replaced the flashing on my chimney, covered the first several feet of roofing with ice dam material, covered the rest of the roof with another material, put down the new shingles on the main roof and 3 porches, cleaned up and left. The next day, a team of 2 showed up to reshingle my garage roof. They were done by noon. My yard and property were clean and undisturbed by everything that went on, which was amazing to me. My house was hit by a large tree in the Nor'easter storm in March. I had two holes in my roof with the tree inside my attic and rain water cascading down into my house. I called three companies and Luis was the only person that called me back. He was at my house and on my roof nailing down tarps in the rain and wind in less than an hour. When I received bids from two different roofing companies his bid was the best one, and the most accurate. They replaced my entire roof in ONE DAY and were back the next day to do the gutters. The workers were professional and polite and cleaned up the entire work area so well you would never know that they had been there. I work from home and was onsite to take pictures and will be posting them. I can't say enough good things about Luis and his company and staff. You will not find a better roofing or gutter company, although if you go with someone else I am sure you will PAY a whole lot more for the same work. read more

This is my second review of Lecla I cant write another one on google so ill go to wherever I need to tell the world this is literally THE BEST COMPANY for any home improvements that you need! They originally put a new roof on my house and had to take the old one off and replace some panels. All of this they got done in ONE DAY! I've never seen employees work so hard it brought tears to my eyes lol. I then had Lecla paint the exterior of my home. Eric the manager and Freddy the head of the crew are amazing! super responsive and their work is meticulous and timely! From the beginning, Lecla's response was quick, professional and informative. We needed a complete new roof from plywood on up including flashing on two chimneys. Luis's quoted price was complete including clean up and removing of all debris and was the best around. He came to our home twice to discuss the project to answer our questions. The job was done quickly when his team 'swarmed' over the roof removing 2 layers of shingles, plywood etc and hammering in the new wood and shingles. The clean up was thorough and he was sure to check in on the job to confirm that all was moving smoothly and efficiently. The new roof was done in a day! Everything from the estimate to the final cleanup was easy and very professional. Luis is a rare commodity who cares about the work he and his workers do. He was available for questions at any time. His crew was punctual and worked very hard. It was brutally hot and they worked through these conditions and finished the roof in 2 days. Luis was here both days to check on the work. Luis dispatched Manny (his foreman), and another worker, to address a major roof/chimney leak I had in Darien. They arrived early, immediately ascertained the problem (when another contractor didn't) and replaced the rotted sheathing with new shingles, siding and flashing. After one week, and a heavy storm, the repair succeeded. All completed in one day! I highly recommend this company, and plan to use them when it's time to reprint the exterior of my home. read more

He arranged a person to come within an hour to look at my issue. I appreciate this customer service very much. Then I got a free quote for my roof and within 2 weeks, my roof was all complete.
