This place gave me New York coffee shop vibe, but in the snooty way. Is their coffee good, yes. Was the wait long, yes. Were the staff friendly...not really. This place is giving, no nonsense, here's your coffee - get it and go with a premium price. I would say their location is prime - being the only coffee shop inside garver feed mill, so they will always have a steady stream of people, plus orders online, which added to the wait. Love to check out Ledger Coffee Roasters whenever I am in Madison. Great local spot to grab some exceptional coffee that is expertly roasted and a real job to drink. I sat in the lounge area just outside of Ledger and fired up my laptop to do some work while enjoying the coffee and it was great. The donut from a local donut joint was a perfect addition to the cup of coffee and would certainly bring me back time and time again. Their coffee is so good, I have ordered beans to be shipped back to my house, as well! The only complaint that I have about the place is that an 8AM opening for any coffee shop is simply far too late in my book. Aside from that, awesome spot and highly recommend it. read more

You can grab coffee and go explore (the grow greenhouse is fun because there are plants all over the place) My lavender latte was good and my husband enjoyed his drip coffee. This place is a hidden gem! They roast their beans locally & consistently make the best coffee I've had in Madison. Highly recommend trying one of their coffee drinks and/or buying a bag of one of their beans (they'll grind them according to how you like to brew, ie, for French press or pour over or drip). Even their decaf (Rally Cry) is amazing - rich & flavorful! I can also recommend their matcha lattes which are consistently very good -- smooth and luscious. Ledger has incredible coffee. I had a half caf iced americano and it was delicious. They roast their beans in house. They had friendly baristas and a really great outdoor patio. Great coffee if you're in Monona but make sure to be there early. I stopped for an afternoon pick me up and all the food was gone, I was really bummed. I love the vegan donuts they carry and was really looking forward to getting one.. oh well, next time! I did get the espresso tonic with grapefruit bitters and oh my goodness it was refreshing. The coffee is excellent. I'm from the northwest and very used to the style of coffee in the PNW. Ledger is definitely on par with that level of quality, and it's one of my favorite coffee spots in Madison. Highlights: - Locally roasted beans - Nice foam quality (even w/ alt milk) - Simple & tasty options for added flavor(s) - Multiple options for coffee bean type if you are purchasing a bag of beans (I typically opt for the Super Capacity espresso whole bean blend to use in my espresso machine at home, but I hear the Cold Brew blend is very popular as well!) Highly recommend coffee lovers check this place out! It's quite a drive if you live on the West side, but you can check out other shops at the Garver Mill while you're there. In the same building you can find an Ian's pizza, as well as a cocktail lounge. Also, in the winter there is a lovely winter market which is fun to peruse on a chilly day. Last thing I'll say- if you're trying Ledger for the first time, be aware that Ledger does not have as many drink/flavor options as coffee chains like Starbucks. The strong suit of Ledger is the quality of the coffee. read more

Maybe shooting myself in the foot giving this place 5 stars. Ledger is great and their donuts are phenomenal. The special donuts are almost always worth grabbing, but their regular vanilla glazed are seriously great, and somehow do it while being vegan! Only possible gripes I can find with this place is that you gotta get your order in at 8am on the weekends to get donuts because they sell out in no time flat. That, and it's real easy to order an $8 coffee because each option costs $1 or more. read more

Ordered a dozen and the 5 of us ate almost all of them. There's a unique range of flavors and they are light and fluffy. They're also vegan but you would never know. They were delicious. Wonderful staff, very friendly and they know what they are doing. A small coffee shop but inside it's very welcoming. With a lot of seating outside and inside the other part of the building. I ordered a cortado and it exceeded my expectations. It was smooth and creamy with the settle taste of espresso. All three components made it great. The coffee was not burnt at all. Coffee is a passion of mine and the two girls that served me that day were patient with my questions about their roast profiles. I was convinced to try the Anaerobic columbian which was amazing. I was on a trip from Chicago to MN and my wife suggested we stop. I've had other anaerobic coffees that were too pungent for my palate. This was soooooooo good!! I bought two bags of their Ethiopian! Hot chocolate with cardamon enjoyed today with a friend. There is not much in the way of seating in their space but you are welcome to sit in the atrium and we were served there. The atrium is the huge sunlit event space at Garver Feed Mill. It has the open, peaceful, uplifting feel of a Gothic cathedral that settles a body down. Their coffee is SO delicious. I ordered a iced vanilla latte with oat milk. They used vanilla bean which made it extra tasty. We also ordered a cardamom mocha which was delectable and unique.
