Moka's location makes it the perfect spot to drive through for your coffee fix on Madison's East Side. The service is friendly and the coffee is hot! They offer a small list milk alternatives. Seriously delicious lattes! I am obsessed with this place. They have so many good flavors. It reminds me of a WAY better Dunkin'.

Service is ok except they did not listen to my order and gave me a espresso drink when I told them decaf 3 times. I have a heart disorder and ended up having a panic attack sitting in the hospital. I have been a loyal member since they opened. I called and they seem to not care much. We will see what the general manager does. I feel completely horrible at this point. Makes me never want to return. The inside is very small and limited seating. There is some outside seating as well. I'm disappointed in the service after today. read more

A bit out of the city, but a nice stop on the way to the airport. I got a matcha latte with oat milk and a pesto, egg, provolone English muffin for breakfast right before my flight. The cashier was friendly and the food came out quickly. The English muffin was kinda sad and the matcha latte was alright, nothing really special about the cafe. read more

Stopped here before taking my son to the airport. Immediately met w a very nice and cheerful lady that came outside to the car to take our order since they do not have a order option before getting to the window. That was greatly appreciated since we didn't have to wait just to get to the window to order then wait some more. My son had a shake and I had a coffee. We both enjoyed our drinks very much. The lacking star is for the sandwiches. He had the pesto and I had the turkey. The sandwiches could be equated to frozen microwavable sandwiches but with even more gross "meat". Both were just the breading and patties. We didn't bother w the sandwiches. I'm not even sure who thought these would be an option to feed to people, but please tell me that you only ran out and had to get backups this day. Came to Madison on a lovely fall day and was looking for a little afternoon coffee on our way back out of town. We found Moka on Yelp, were impressed with the reviews, and decided to give it a whirl. They're a small, drive thru coffee joint. They have a full menu of espresso beverages, blended espresso beverages, tea, cold brew, smoothies, and shakes. They also have a seasonal menu of deliciousness to choose from (currently offering a smoked black cherry white mocha, black sugar latte, and a french toast latte). I opted for their black & white mocha (tantalizing blend of white and dark chocolate, milk--for me, almond milk--, and espresso). It was a delight! Their drive thru was busy with a bit of a line but they moved us through pretty quickly. Our barista was super friendly and efficient. Looking for coffee on the go? This is your spot. Love this neighborhood (although they have multiple locations) coffee drive through. Their staff are friendly, and I find pricing to be fair. You must try both their veggie breakfast burrito, and their Jamaican blend coffee. They do have a small indoor area, but I wouldn't recommend it for hanging out. I can't stand by a four star review anymore. The tiniest flaw in their mochas can't overshadow the beyond amazing staff. They know my regular all the time even after I switch it up. I love the variety every season. There's always at least one gem in the mix that I'm a freak for. They have great low calorie options. A not bad selection of sugar free syrups and great low calorie milk like coconut, soy, and almond. Their largest size is perfect for a road trip! They ecstatically refill growlers with coldbrew if you ask! Anything you need, they will figure it out for you. Tired of your normal? They will help you figure out another. Have an issue with a coffee? They will fix it. On top of that, they're very fast. Two lanes and people will come out to take your order if the line is too long. They have it down to a science. Was my favorite coffee shop for many years. Perfect place to drive through and get coffee before work. However, they now sell food and the wait is ridiculous. They must make one food item at a time. Most drive through fast food restaurants will have you pull ahead but not here. You wait a significant amount of time for just a cup of coffee. Unfortunately I will be going to a different coffee shop for coffee. Very disappointing. read more

Popped in for a much needed drink after a 2.5 hour drive from Chicago that started at 6 in the morning! Great customer service - there was just a tiny bit of a queue for the drive through and a girl stepped up to the car to get my order even at 32F. Since it was my first time here, I said I didn't know what I wanted yet and she happily went back in and got me a menu as well - wow! I got the Chai Tea Latte and it was super - much better than Starbucks or other cafe's serving Chai Tea Latte. And the prices a bit reasonable too in comparison. Each time I roll up to this location early in the morning I have a little panic attack I'm going to be late because of all the cars ahead of me. And each time I am proven wrong because boy howdy do they move that line through. Friendly staff. Consistently hot coffee. I've never had an "off" drink from here. Sure, the prices are about 50-75 cents more than a drink from one of the big chains in town but the line moves faster, the staff is friendlier, and the drinks are consistent. Easy choice. read more

I think the trick with Moka is to try new things once in awhile and if you don't like a particular drink don't write them off because they definitely have some thing for you!! The key for me was ordering specialty drinks 1/2 sweet, I love their iced sportea, it's caffeine free while being energizing and sugar free but with a touch of natural sweetness. It really gets me though my day! The staff at this location is knowledgeable, fun and friendly. I love supporting this local chain, I stop here at least three times a week and most of the baristas know me and remember my order. read more

This place needs work. Went through the drive through on a rainy day. While waiting in line a gal came out and took our order and credit card for payment. Got to the window and she had no record of our order. Had to wait longer and they wanted payment again. They figured it out but then the coffee wasn't hot! I love everything about this place except for...the coffee :( Over the past few weeks I have tried their house hot coffee, their jamaican hot coffee, their cold brew, and today I got a triple mocha, and not one of these tasted like *coffee* to me. They tasted watered-down and over-flavored. I think their beverages must be geared towards people who don't like the taste of espresso/strong coffee. And there's no shame in that, but I'm sad they don't seem to be self-aware enough to advertise this more clearly, and that they don't offer any drinks for coffee lovers. :/ read more

MOKA looks super cute especially in comparison to the Taco Bell next door, but I was unimpressed. Drive through coffee did sound fun... I ordered an iced soy mocha. They advertise that they use Ghiradelli chocolate, but that's only a plus when the ratio among everything else is ideal. Like some other places that make these kinds of drinks, the espresso is not strong enough to overpower the ridiculous amount of soy milk and ice in the drink. Also, they charge $0.75 for soy, so that's usually a turn off. I give it three stars for convenience. They're kind of slow for a drive through place though. read more

MOKA is an excellent place for all things beverage! While I am not a coffee drinker, I live for chai tea. Having tried chai all over Madison, I can confidently say that MOKA's is the best, hands down. They have all options for milk, including almond and coconut, and nearly everything can be hot, iced, or blended for frostiness. They also have fabulous seasonal specialty drinks! They are always the nicest people to encounter in the morning or afternoon and they remember their repeat customers by name and order. They can get busy in a minute and other times they have a lull, but plan for at a 5 minute wait and you shouldn't have to wait much more because they are efficient. I'm not from the area but this is obviously a local chain. Nice little sit down/drive thru coffee shop. Good location and staff was friendly and the place was clean. Coffee itself was sub par at best. We tried two different drinks, a latte with a little vanilla and an americano. Not sure if the barista's skill was lacking or if the espresso beans they were using was the issue, but both drinks did not meet our expectations. To me this shop is more like a "Big Chain" coffee shop. Not geared to highlighting the espresso itself but geared to producing overly sweet drinks that mask the taste of the coffee. Just not what I'm looking for in a specialty coffee shop. read more

I was looking for an alternative to getting my iced coffee from Dunkin. First of all, because I prefer to support local, and second of all because there is no Dunkin near my house. Multiple friends suggested I try Moka. I drove through and got REALLY INTIMIDATED by all the options, flavors, additives, etc. It took me forever to figure out my order and even then I pretty much ended up just getting what the guy recommended. I honestly dont remember what it was-- whatever blend they recommended with whatever flavors they recommended plus cream and sugar. I would need to spend some time studying the menu and trying different options before it could be my regular iced coffee. And now it's winter. It was definitely pricier and smaller than a similar iced coffee at Dunkin. I think this place is for coffee experts, not novices like me! But I'll give them another shot when it gets warm again. read more

My absolute favorite go to Madison Coffee shop. I used to be a Starbucks girl until I stumbled upon Moka. I even drive an extra 15 mins out of the way each morning just to come here. Quick drive through service. HUGE selection of sugar free syrups. (Starbucks has only TWO). And their employees are stellar. I was there this morning and forgot my wallet. So embarrassed. The barista told me not to worry about it, to pay next time. Then she even offered to borrow me money for lunch so I didn't have to go hungry. I declined because I have a work credit card I can put it on that I keep in my desk, but the thought was so moving. What a great place. read more

As someone else mentioned, MOKA has hands down the best Chai Latte around (and even none of the 20 chai lattes I had in New York City topped this one). I literally don't know why or how they are so good but they are the best flavored and they always offer whipped cream and spices (cinnamon and nutmeg I believe) on top! I come here frequently to get my caffeine dose before/during work. Aside from the amazing drinks, the service here is always friendly. Every time I go, the people working there go out of their way to ask about your day or make friendly conversation. I should disclose that I went for their Gilmore Girls Luke's Diner pop-up, so it was a bit of a unique experience. More on that later, but I'll keep my rating to the drink and everyday part of the experience. In lieu of the free coffee being offered for the promotion, I asked if I could purchase a hot chocolate, as I cannot have caffeine so the coffee was a no-go. Gratefully, the answer was yes. The cashier was kind and considerate, and service was pretty quick once I got my order in - under five minutes from placing my order to having it in my hand. Not bad with a line out the door and a line of cars in the drive-thru. The cup was nice and sturdy and Moka has the thickest anti-splash stickers I've ever seen. No sloshing here! My hot chocolate itself was mediocre. It wasn't particularly creamy, nor did it have much chocolate flavor. It wasn't terrible, and definitely better than Swiss Miss, but if I was told I could never have one of their hot chocolates again I'd meet the news with a shrug. Thus, my three-star rating. I'd go back if someone else wanted to, but I'll need to do a deeper dive into their menu to see if anything else catches my eye before heading back on my own. On a GG side note: the cashier that day was a man who was a great sport about wearing flannel and a backwards cap and standing in as Luke. As mentioned above he was kind and considerate in the way that he was undaunted by the stream of fangirls (I only spotted one man in line on my way out and he looked bewildered, leading me to believe he had no idea why there was a line out the door) and was asking everyone if they wanted their drink in a separate cup from their "collectible" Gilmore Girls cardboard cup & Luke's Diner coffee sleeve. For the curious, the diner pop-up was only a cardboard cutout of the Luke's sign and the no cell phones sign. read more

As a coffee-crowned Madison royal, it feels sort of strange to rate MOKA this high - 4 stars...ONLY because of my perception of the venue way back when it first opened. I don't visit often because it's drive-thru and walk-in only, but over time, MOKA has sweetened its way into my caffeinated rolodex. If the drive-thru is busy, backed-up, a staffer comes outside, even in the middle of a brutal Wisconsin winter(!), to take rolling orders, so your beverages are ready upon payment - this is fantastic! Prices are a-ok and staff is very, very friendly and helpful. They are quite chatty, asking about your day, commenting on the weather, current events, etc. While it's not on my way to work, especially because I don't own a vehicle, I would happily stop at MOKA again and again! read more
