I wanted to wait a couple months before writing this review to give this acupuncture business an accurate assessment based on the outcomes I've obtained. I have rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and have taken the holistic approach to treating my disease. I decided to try acupuncture to see if it could assist with my inflammation and pain. I did my research and decided to try Lee Acupuncture based on all the positive reviews. There were even a few reviews coming from arthritis patients who had obtained good results. They're located in a small business plaza that borders Costa Mesa & Newport Beach. The big "Melton Int'l Tackle" sign is a good landmark. They are located all the way down the alley on the right. Free parking is available. The office itself is rather small with 3-4 patient rooms and a small waiting area that's comfortably furnished with 2 chairs, a sofa and some snacks & water. I was pleased to learn that my insurance covered the first 6 sessions (per year) at $40 co-pay per session. After that the rate goes up, but you can buy a package that offers lower rates. The very 1st session was interesting, as they hooked me up to a machine to determine how balanced my energy was flowing internally. It highlighted key areas of improvement. The belief is that the more balanced I am, the less inflammation I will have. Each session is about 1/2 an hour. I started going twice a week, and now I go once a week. I was assigned to Dr. Kim who thoroughly explained everything to me prior to starting, and continues to remain helpful and caring. He inserts the needles in various areas, primarily my hands, feet and head. Sometimes it hurts a little when the needles go in, and a couple times I've bled after the needles came out, but that's probably because it hit a vein. I lay on the table for 1/2 hour and feel very relaxed afterwards. In addition to the acupuncture, I take herbs that I purchase from them for $90 for 1 weeks worth. They said it's very important to keep taking the herbs as it assists with the healing process. I had also read about this online. I take the herbs 2x a day (AM & PM) with food. I mix the herbs with a little water and drink it like a tea. After approximately two months of acupuncture and drinking herbs, I can positively say that my inflammation has gone down significantly. I took a photo of my inflammation on my hands & feet prior to starting, and there has been a big improvement! I will definitely continue seeing Dr. Kim, and I'm so happy I discovered Lee Acupuncture. read more

I want to preface this by saying: if you're doing IVF and looking to schedule acupuncture support, go elsewhere. They will cancel on you last minute and add unnecessary stress during an already emotional process. I booked with Lee Acupuncture weeks in advance for my embryo transfer and spoke with their office manager by the name of Donna. I clearly provided the date and transfer time when booking and was under the impression that everything was confirmed until Donna called me today to say they couldn't accommodate the in-clinic visit after all because I "didn't confirm a time", which is untrue. This was confusing and frustrating because I had given a time and booked early to avoid exactly this problem. Donna then explained they were short-staffed and offered for me to come into their office instead, which completely defeated the purpose of arranging pre- and post-transfer acupuncture at the clinic. To make matters worse, I received a cancellation email showing my appointment was indeed scheduled for the date and time I booked -- clear proof that an appointment existed before it was cancelled without warning. When I asked why other patients were still confirmed, Donna gave no clear explanation and spoke to us in a very unpleasant, dismissive tone, offering no helpful resolution. The whole experience felt disorganized and unfair. It left me feeling like certain patients were prioritized over others, and the lack of accountability was extremely disappointing. If you value honesty, compassion, and professionalism, look elsewhere for your pre and post transfer acupuncture care. As for Dr. Lee, it's very disappointing that you have someone like her as an office manager that clearly has no compassion or care for fertility patients like myself. With fertility treatments such as IVF time is of an essence and to cancel last-mintute like that is unprofessional that shows a lack of compassion for the unique stress and urgency faced by fertility patients. Your office manager Donna seems to not understand and respect the critical nature of these appointments. I would never recommend your establishment to anyone that is doing fertility treatments. read more

I came here expecting a thorough traditional acupuncture consultation, especially since I have fertility-related improvement request. The day before my appointment, I spent over 90 minutes completing a very detailed intake questionnaire about my medical history and symptoms. I assumed this information would be carefully reviewed and discussed during my visit. Instead, I was first asked to do an "Acugraph" test, which showed everything as green/normal. Shortly after, the doctor came in and quickly suggested acupuncture -- without a detailed discussion of my intake form and without a proper pulse diagnosis or individualized assessment. When I asked whether my questionnaire had been reviewed, the responses were very general (stress, digestion, etc.), things that anyone could say without actually evaluating my case. It did not feel personalized or thorough. For fertility support, I believe treatment should be carefully assessed and tailored. Acupuncture should not be recommended without proper diagnosis. I ultimately declined treatment and proceeded with consultation only. Unfortunately, the visit did not feel worth the $70 consultation fee. It felt more like a push toward acupuncture treatment rather than a true medical consultation. read more
