They wouldn't stand by their work and instead offered to charge us for something they should've fixed at the time. Matthew from ACE Plumbing looked at the floor, identified the problem, and pointed out other (now obvious) issues leading that were leading to the feeling that the home was kinda falling apart. We initially asked for just the floor to be fixed, and other contractors only quoted us for the band aid solutions we thought we needed. However, Matt dug deeper and discovered rot in the siding, a leaking roof, and deteriorating walls, among other challenges. We chose Matt and ACE Plumbing over four other contractors because he was communicative, always available to answer questions, and proactive in giving advice that would save us trouble in the long run. Since we don't live in the home, Matt and his crew kept us up to date with photos and phone calls. As issues came up, he informed us of the process needed to resolve them. Throughout the entire process, we felt we were in the hands of professionals. Matt was able to describe the problems with our beautiful but old house, outline our options for a fix, and provide a timeline that worked for us. Another benefit was that Matt didn't just contract out the work we paid him good money for. He was on-site, getting dirty with his crew and taking videos to answer our questions. Replaced it at no charge. But today when they came to check out why my toilet sometimes backed up, they recommended replacing the old low-flush model with a newer toilet. I asked for a quote to include all parts and labor, and was given one. They pulled the toilet, snaked the line, and installed the new toilet. Then when I went to pay the invoice, they increased the amount by $70! He said he needed to install a new flange which raised the cost. I watched the process and understand that he needed a new flange to bring the level up to the tile level. But he never indicated this would cost an additional $70! I specifically asked for the total cost. And would have appreciated him telling me during the process that he was adding another 12% to the cost. Now I feel like he took advantage of us. These plumbers pulled our toilet to clear the clog, then put a camera in the system and found that we have a collapsed pipe. Heidler put a camera in but said it was too dark to see. The current plumber said it was too dark because the clog had not been removed. He also said that we are their second client this week where they were called because Heidler failed to correct the issue. When we called Heidler and told them that the toilet was backing up again, we were told that their work is not guarenteed. After seeing this review Heilder contacted us and refunded our payment.
