They cam e quickly and fixed the problems and it took until 10 pm/ It was long day for the tech and he was always upbeat and pleasant. So I then had them replace my old toilets and they were fast and did try to clean up afterwards after one of the toilet leaked on my stone foyer. They mopped it up. We had recently remodeled our master bathroom. We have floor to ceiling tiles that are 4' x 2'. We noticed evidence of water leakage on the sheet rock ceilings from below the bathroom. Howard sent the A team. They were able to identify the source of the leak with selected holes in the sheetrock that allowed them to spot the problem. They contacted the faucet supplier and had the repair parts sent at no charge. The team returned and made the repair. This project had the potential to be much larger with a lot of collateral damage. We have used Howard Plumbing on three occasions. All were executed professionally in a timely manner. The first was to repair of a leak in the pipe from out well to the house in the front yard. Patrick came out himself and hand dug the area around the leak, repaired the leak (a broken elbow), and filled the hole back in. He initially separated the grass and later placed it back over the area when he was done. The area looked like it had before the dig. The second time we used Howard Plumbing was for another well to house leak but due to the original plastic pipe cracking. Patrick diagnosed the problem and left his crew with direction on where to dig. They expertly removed the top layer of grass and dug the trench required to make the repair. Patrick came back and replaced the cracked section. His crew then filled in the hole and made it look like it had never been there. It still looks good now, three years later. Our third and most recent use of Howard Plumbing was to replace an aging electric hot water heater. Patrick did the job quickly and professionally at a competitive price. Howard Plumbing did a such a great job for us that I was compelled to write this review because they more than earned it. Our 16-year-old gas hot water heater gave out and flooded our basement. After the initial stress and chaos with mitigating the water damage and contacting our insurance company, we started calling plumbers for help. We prioritized plumbing companies by how helpful and authentic their reviews appeared to be. We called a few but none could come out for days. Then we called Howard Plumbing. Tim & Michelle were great communicators: they listened, asked clarifying questions, checked for understanding and clearly outlined everything, including a quote that was in line or better than the others. Best of all they scheduled an appointment for the next morning! The Howard Plumbing crew was on time, efficient, courteous, professional, polite and more. A master plumber was on site to ensure all pipes and connections were in good order because we use gas. Good thing too, because at my request, he inspected our lines and discovered a gas leak which was promptly repaired. The crew installed a great new water heater (much more modern and a bit larger capacity than the old one), cleaned up, packed up and hauled our old water heater away, all in less time than I had anticipated. When all was said and done, the quoted price was the price we paid, we had a wonderful new gas heater installed, and we had the comfort of knowing our gas lines were in good order now. DO NO US THIS PLUMBING SERVICE! I have been looking for a plumbing service to do some drain work and new water heater in my basement and actually considered using Howard Plumbing. As luck would have it, I was driving down Ritchie Highway today (July 30, 2019 @ 4:55p) and I could see a white truck swerving in and out of traffic and speeding on open stretches in my rearview mirror. I didn't think anything of it until this truck came up behind me, twitched lanes, moved erratically to the passenger side of my truck and then abruptly moved in front of me. I had to slam on my brakes and cut my steering wheel to the left in order to avoid hitting this Howard Plumbing truck. The plumbing truck stayed in my lane for about 5 seconds then moved back into the lane to the right of me. I witnessed this careless driving behavior all the way down Ritchie Highway while vehicles in rush hour traffic were slamming on their brakes and honking their horn at this idiot driver. My point is, why would I ever hire anyone from this plumbing service who puts other people's safety and lives in jeopardy? There is absolutely NO plumbing emergency that is worth any type of vehicular injury caused by someone who was driving so carelessly. I am sure anyone, especially someone who has had a family member killed in a car accident understands that this type of behavior should not be tolerated. Especially from a company who uses this quote on their website: "As a family-owned and operated company, we strive to meet your family's needs on your schedule". A family-owned business would not jeopardize the possible destruction of a family with careless driving that could result in an accident and the loss of a parent or child. I belong to many parent groups in the neighborhood and my children's school and I am going to make it a point to inform these groups of my experience and make sure these families chose other plumbing companies for their needs. read more

Howard Plumbing was very professional and courteous. My wife called in for a clogged drain and broken faucet, and scheduled a time that worked out for us. HP called the day that was scheduled and actually asked if we'd be ok with him arriving an hour earlier than planned - no problem with us! Within 30 minutes, HP had identified the problem, and cleaned our drain. I don't know what he saw and he never told - thank you, good sir. I'm relatively new to the area, and a very new homeowner in the area. Therefore, I look to Yelp, especially when finding a specialized trade. My wife and i bought an old Colonial in Catonsville. The 90% efficient gas furnace in the attic has a condensate line that runs outside from the attic to the ground. Shockingly, when it got cold...the water in the line froze outside, which lead to a backup inside. Water freezes? Who knew? How the previous owners dealt with this I don't know. Nevertheless, HVAC companies wouldn't touch it, and recommended having a plumber move the condensate line indoors. In comes Howard Plumbing via Yelp. Patrick came to my home and took the time to really check things out, including squeezing himself over the furnace in the attic to get eyes on the layout of the potential fix. He came up with a great idea for the fix, which was really non-invasive since much of our home is plaster. He also agreed to snake the basement drain line when doing the larger project. The work was done this Tuesday. I believe the two gentlemen who did the job were Rob and Caleb. They did a great job, dealt with a few hiccups on the drain snaking, and did the best cleanup job of any contractor I've had in any home I've lived in. All with their shoes off - I didn't even have to request that. In summary, the price was great for the jobs; Patrick, Rob, & Caleb were all so responsive, professional, and easy to work with; and I can leave my heat on when it drops below freezing without worrying. UPDATE: The company called back and delivered great customer service. They apologized for the misunderstanding. We were supposed to only be charged the service fee of $75 (completely reasonable), not the $160 hourly rate. I appreciate them reaching back out. If we need the work done after all, we will definitely consider hiring them for the job. It takes a lot to admit to a mistake and I commend them for taking action. ORIGINAL: I called them due to a plumbing emergency to see what was wrong. At first they were great, sending someone ASAP to check it out (much appreciated). And the tech they sent was very helpful. My husband wanted to be able to see the problem for himself before deciding to spend $385 to fix it as that's a large sum to drop unexpectedly. So we were going to call them back after he had a chance to inspect and we could talk about the options. But the tech's boss told him to charge me the full $160 (hourly rate) for a visit that lasted less than 5 minutes. I've never had an encounter like this. And we decided we won't be having them back to fix the problem. I appreciate their timeliness, but no one told me what (or even if) I would be charged for the service visit until after the tech inspected the problem. $160 is a large sum for 2 minutes when a previous plumber came out for a different issue and charged only $75. read more

I had this company come out to our home to fix a plumbing stoppage. They never discussed pricing upfront....just went to work. Well 2.5 hours later Mike tells me he has bad news. He wasn't able to unclog my plumbing. He said he would schedule a time to come out and run a camera into the line to see if it was cracked and needed replaced. All good at this point. THEN FOR THE SHOCKING PART. HE TELLS ME I NEEDED TO PAY HIM. MY RESPONSE WAS I'LL PAY YOU WHEN THE JOB IS COMPLETED. HE SAID IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY. HE CHARGED ME $515.00 FOR 2.5 HOURS WORTH OF TRYING. I'm sorry......if you don't get the job done you shouldn't get paid. What is this the NFL? I'd be okay with $100 or $200....but $515 for 2 and 1/2 hours and nothing accomplished? So I hired another plumber. He came out the next day. He said before he ran the camera he wanted to see if he could unclog the pipe. No luck. Take a wild guess what he told me? YOU DON'T OWE ME ANYTHING SINCE I COULDN'T RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
