However, since I had moved to Irwin, I decided...well, life goes on! I first heard about Dr. Szekely because I was a working as a Family Resource Specialist for a Headstart / Daycare program and came across his business. They have a program in which they give children without dental coverage free cleanings. So, I thought this was nice and, since he was close by, I thought I'd check him out. I started seeing Dr. Szekely a little over four years ago. Since the beginning, the dentist and his staff have always treated me well. They are all friendly and, in fact, treat you more like a friend than a patient. Thank goodness, I've had the need for minimal dental work, but here's my breakdown of what I have had done: Cleaning / X-Rays: Typical, no issues Bonding: Done well, no issues Teeth Whitening: Reasonably priced, great results!

She talked me in to the x-ray because I was a new patient. she said now we're gonna have to do a cleaning, and I told her I didn't want a cleaning because of a bad experience. She left the room and,the doctor came in. The Doctor said I don't want your business, and walk out in a hissy fit, Before I could even explain to him that I had my teeth cleaned, and I had sensitivity to hot and cold for six months, and tooth pain. The doctor showed me no respect! I felt like I was discriminated against because he didn't even try to accommodate my needs of being a elderly patient. The visit was a total waste of time. I asked the receptionist if I could purchase the x-rays, and, I take it her silence means a no. I just had to get this off my chest!

The admin staff here is efficient and warm. My hygienist is super nice and affable. I came here mid-year for an emergency visit for some soreness/pain at the back of my mouth. They scheduled a quick lunch appt, wrote me a prescription and made sure it was covered by my insurance. I even won their holiday prize drawing for a huge good gift basket! The only thing to note here is that they don't have Friday appts. If they ever do, I will recommend my hubs to go here as well.

One of the worst situations happened when I went in to have a painful tooth looked at and was told I urgently needed a root canal on my molar. I was already in the chair, in severe pain and literally in tears, while Dr. McNeil spent about 45 minutes discussing the situation before eventually telling me she could not perform the procedure because it was the end of the day. It was a Friday, and despite calling it an emergency, the earliest they could get me back in was the following week. Thankfully, another dentist was able to squeeze me in the very next day and completed the root canal without issue. What has been even more upsetting is what I later discovered about the crowns I had done there. I'm young, have always maintained excellent dental hygiene, and noticed that ever since getting two upper crowns done, both sides of my mouth would bleed heavily. I brought up my concerns and was repeatedly told everything looked normal on X-rays. A year later, I saw a new dentist who immediately identified major problems with the crown work. I was told there were gaps around the crowns that allowed bacteria and infection to form underneath. I now have two infected crowns and have been informed that every crown done at this office needs to be redone -- only about a year after having them placed. I specifically invested in getting extensive dental work completed while I had good insurance because I believed this office was reputable. Looking back now, I feel extremely let down by the level of care, attention, and quality of work I received.
