Kind of like the bad Amazon reviews about items being damaged in transit. They are largely insignificant because they don't indicate the value and quality of the product. The quality and efficacy of the instructors, curriculum, and processes are high. My six year old attends and I am already seeing a difference in his attitude and confidence. My son is a newbie to the classes. I'm disappointed at the way they run their business. They held an event called Ninja night on a Friday night. They advertise it during the classes verbally (not very clear to hear all the details. They also gave us a paper to attend the event. I decided to take my son to it. We got there about 30 minutes after the event has started and we were declined participating. We were told that we had to preorder and purchase it at least a day ahead because of ordering for pizza. I understand that but I was unaware of this. I was willing to pay the $20 so my son can participate and have him sit out eating pizza but that was not possible. Instead I was totally denied and had to take home a sad child who was so excited to attend the event. NOWHERE ON THE FLYER DOES IT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT PURCHASING ANYTHING AHEAD OF TIME. It's been well over a year since we started going to Lee's and I have to up my star rating to five. The people here have really become people we are excited to see, and it is largely their enthusiasm that makes us want to come back. Not impressed at all. Matter a fact disappointed in not only the school but he entire ata organization. We have attended different schools in the state and even schools in other states, and every school is different. Different philosophy and different disciplines. The school in Laveen seems to be more worried about increasing their number of students then actually teaching the art of taekwondo. My son has been doing taekwondo for over four years, wtf and ata. I sit and watch kids graduating to a higher rank that can't do the simple kicks and punches. Classes are way to big! No good instructions and it seems that the instructors have no control of the classes. It felt like they were running a martial arts factory. Very impersonal and crowded! They didn't seem to care if the kids did the moves correctly, just that we paid. Lesson times are during most people's work hours and Saturday lessons are often cancelled for events. I think this place would be better with less customers so the instructors would have more 1:1 time. They have good intentions and they are kind, but bit off more than they can chew so to speak. read more

Not only was I able to arrange 1:1 time for my son so that he could get some extra coaching, but the owner wrote to me to assure me that they are expanding the facility in order to accomodate the large classes. We bought a 16 class trial per say off of Groupon. Hands down best groupon purchase ever. We got our son into it to help him build confidence and help more with manners. So far he has attended about 7 classes and has caught on so well. He even tells us yes ma'am and yes sir at home from time to time and that's because of what he has learned. His teacher is very good with his class and our son actually pays attention. Overall all the kids seem to have a great time and when we are early its neat seeing the older kids practicing their moves, they definitely have been taught well. read more

I signed up my son for a two week trial of the Tiger class (3-6 years old)to gauge if my son liked the classes. The instructor was great with him during the two week trial. When we came to the class, we never had anyone welcome us at any point, but I kept getting calls to go over my two weeks trial although he had not attended any classes at this point. I made an appointment to signed up my son for classes, but since he did not want to go back to martial arts, we decided not to proceed with signing him up. Unfortunately, we forgot to call to cancel our appointment. When I was contacted to know if I would be signing him up and I informed the person I would not, they became rude and stated I should have called to cancel the appointment. There was no need for the person to be rude and impolite solely because I decided to not sign up my son for classes. read more

I have 2 children that have been enrolled in Lee's ATA at Laveen, AZ, over 4 months now. The only problem I have is, I don't like the way instructor Mr. Martinez speaks to and treats my children. I have had to address him about it before and it has come to a point that I have to address him again. The other instructors treats everyone equally, however, I will not have Mr. Martinez speaking to my children in the annoying voice tones that he uses towards them. I paid for them (in cash- not monthly) the same as other parents have done. My children are respectful and hard working when they go to classes 3 times per week and I will not tolerate him treating them that way. There are days I regret taking them to class when we get there and he's their instructor instead of another instructor teaching their class. read more

Great idea and concept, but to money oriented, and mislead contract. Classes are out of control in size and focus. There are about 25-30 kids per instructor, and some parents often take over with laud conversations,and direct martial arts instructions to their kids, as if they are the experts. Try to cancel your contract ahead of time for whatever reason, and the invasion of privacy and lack of professionalism becomes evident with management. Let's be realistic, we are talking about kids! iIt makes absolut no sense to lock your clients in a 7month contract, period! If company believes in their vision, it would be unnecessary to force stay their clientele. read more

I am proud to belong to this ATA and currently attend the teen / adult classes. I appreciate the skills I have acquired at the hands of these Fierce instructors! They know what they're doing and they have their hands full with a full class. However, this does not really alter the dynamic of hands-on and personal instruction I believe that I have received. You get what you put in--like all things in life. I have attended one tournament and one belt graduation thus far, and I am very satisfied with my experience at Laveen ATA. This organisation really strives to encourage students, build self-esteem, support increased participation in ATA events, and motivate you to push yourself to your best! Plus, you will get one "mean" workout LOL, relieve stress, and have more energy...Not to mention incredible discipline, strength, and skills to defend yourself for safety. What's better than that?! My kids have been going to the Lee's ATA for a little over a year now and I'm absolutely happy about my decision to sign them up there. I was a little put off by by some of the reviews I've seen in general but found a different positive perspective than that of others. After just a couple of months I expressed my son needed some 1 on 1 time. The instructors immediately obliged with a free 15 minute lesson twice (which was more like 20 & 30 minutes). I then purchased 5 30 minute sessions and this helped my son with confidence, form and respect for the instructor. I was not an overnight change but after a few lessons I could see my son's confidence go up. I've spent a great amount of time at this PV location and absolutely enjoy speaking and working with the instructors here. In fact that after a year I finally decided to join myself since I'm there so much I figured I might as well get some exercise. I started with the newly added Krav Maga which Mr. Jonas is certified in and added the Taekwondo. These instructors are great with the kids, they do try to provide encouragement and discipline. Yes it gets packed especially during graduation but they are very flexible in the classes your child/children can attend. They have become a part of our family and we absolutely enjoy this place! Some Saturday's are cancelled because there are tournaments going on that the kids are attending and it's maybe once a month, some times less. All in all this place is awesome for any kid or adult. read more

I have two of my kids enrolled in the estrella mountain academy with Master Benson teaching the class. I got to say that hes a nice guy but Master Mark Lee was a MILLION times better instructor. Master Benson is NOT tough enough with teaching kids discipline, respect, and self control. The attention to kids falling behind not learning the moves and the school can no longer hold more kids in the class yet they keep adding new students with no sight of expanding for more room. I hope that I can find out what school Master Mark Lee is teaching so I can move my kids to his school. read more
