Another Utahan here, driving over the border to stock up on what I can't get in my alcohol-deprived state to the east. Actually, that's not what I drove here for, but while I was in town for other debauchery, I stopped by. This store is massive-with aisles and aisles of every liquor you can imagine. There's a great variety at any price point. I found bottles of wine for as little as $2.99 on up to $99-and everywhere in between. If you don't know what you're looking for, you might get a little overwhelmed. I don't think this is the type of place that will concierge your experience, but rather a warehouse feel jam packed with booze-and you'd better just know what you want or plan to wander a bit. As I was wandering (see above for those who don't know what they want), I noticed several empty boxes or other packing material tossed about haphazardly, as if liquor-crazed customers ran amuck, savagely opening cases of their favorite drinks, leaving behind a cardboard aftermath. The display left a little to be desired, but the variety of options made up for that. The "manager" at the West Wendover Lees location needs customer service classes. A manager needs to learn to de-escalate situations not make things worse! What example are showing your team? There was an issue with their system and somehow it was our problem??? What a joke!!! This place never disappoints! We stopped in for a bottle of the Metallica Whiskey Blackened. So glad we found it. It has this delicious butterscotch under tone to it. Also stumbled onto some Megadeth beer. Thank you for caring some different collector items for us rockers at heart. This is basically a boozy wonderland, a veritable smorgasbord of alcoholic delights. The store is huge, like HUGE huge, and though I felt they could have devoted a lot more space to beer (I didn't wander through the whole store - it's possible they have and I just didn't notice), what was there was quite impressive, very impressive indeed. This is easily the best liquor store within a hundred mile radius for sure, but I'd probably extend that to 200 miles. Maybe even more than that. Prices, at least for the beers I was after, were rather on the high side, but as I don't plan on drinking them more than once, this was a concession I decided to live with. I think they're more interested in selling other stuff, though I did see a number of other beers are a far more moderate and reasonable price, so YMMV on that stuff. As Vida mentioned, it is quite clean and pretty well laid-out, with very solid aisle space. The checkout counters are done a bit oddly, but overall, this is definitely top tier and probably in my top 5 of liquor stores I've wandered into...and I should mention why I wandered in, besides trying to find some specific beers that Utah can't be bothered to put in their own liquor stores. That is their very crafty advertising. I noticed billboards in Elko and Wells and I thought, huh, Elko is much larger than Wendover, why oh why are they advertising in Elko for a place a hundred miles, give or take, east. So, naturally, I then had to find out. So, kudos to them for their very clever and crafty advertising, which I found quite amusing. read more

What you will encounter (besides multiple Utah plates in the parking lot) is a variety of alcohol not easily found anywhere in Utah. Prices are much better since a "sin tax" isn't added to it. Kind of silly that it makes sense to go to NV and smuggle booze back to UT. The store was very clean with friendly employees. read more

It's a mega store of booze. What could be better than that?? Let me tell you. Situated in West Wendover (not to be confused with the politically repressed Utah side), Lee's paved the way for all the locals and visitors to imbibe like grown ups and at a very, very reasonable price. I found some great deals on beers that aren't available inside the Zion curtain nor in my normal haunts in Wyoming. They were cheap, fresh, and even chilled which made it great to take back to my room and have a beer immediately. Also picked up some wine for the local Wino that lives with me and it was nearly 1/2 the price we pay at home. Lots of spirits, lots of beers, lots of mixes. The only real thing missing would be the "accessories" that go along with a party like solo cups, openers, etc. They have a small accessory rack but it almost feels like an after thought. read more

With Coronavirus making our town have a forced mask mandate, this company has staff walking around with masks pulled down. In a city where shutting down again will hurt everyone, they really don't care at all about their customers. I just left there and there was a girl on cash, a man walking around both wearing Lee's shirts, both not wearing their masks on their actual faces, as well as several customers and they just don't give a shit. They don't care about us, so why should we care about them? I'll be going to Smiths instead now. read more

Finally made it out here. I've been to a couple of others in Las Vegas. This one is indeed very large. It's amazing that a few thousand people in Wendover can support something this big. I can't imagine people from Utah taking alcohol from here back to Utah since that would be illegal. Any comments I make involve alcohol I must have consumed in Nevada since I'm a law abiding citizen. There's no reason to drag things out. There's a lot of good prices. Don't expect a wine expert to help you out if you are in the wine section. Finally, realize this is indeed a store that caters to it's core demographic. That's a person from Salt Lake City getting standard level alcohol cheaper. It's not a person looking for fine wine, not high end alcohol. Yes, there are a handful of goodies. They match what you'd see at the neighborhood UDABC store. This is not going to have the types of things in the Downtown wine stores. The high end wine is $50. There's no Scotch section over $150. You may say -- so what -- that's not me. However, it permeates other areas. OK, the Rum section is huge. There's lots of Rums. However, there isn't a single demerara Rum, there no Rhum agricole. These are entire categories of Rum needed for Tiki drinks. Try finding the Mescal section. Not there. So, it's missing a lot of things that are not the most common expressions of the alcohol, but still not expensive. However, they probably have 10 more types of spiced Rum I don't care about. This is not like the store in Summerlin that has that breadth and nicer items. Within that confine, it's a great resource to have. read more

Are you looking for good deals on liquor? Are you looking for something a little more special and expensive? This Lee's covers both. I've frequented the Lee's in Henderson a lot and didn't expect anything less at this location. The square footage of this location is beyond belief. Pretty much any thing you could possibly be looking for is placed somewhere among the aisles of liquor and wine. Usually wine selection is pretty wide, but higher proof alcohols dominate the shelves. There is a pretty standard assortment of wine. Single bottles of domestic and imported, boxed, and liter sized as well. Fancy, vintage specific wines are probably not going to be at this location. Just a warning. The beer selection is larger but still a little limited. If you're looking for a 30 rack of major brands look no more. As for the alcohol, I was able to find some really expensive and pretty uncommon liquors on the shelves. Some were average priced and some were a lot better than what I could find elsewhere. They had a wide selection of mixers and flavorings for cocktails. This was the part I was most impressed by. The staff was busy doing work but when I asked for help they all were so, so helpful. They look unapproachable but don't let that fool you. They were quite the opposite! Would I come back? Yes, yes I would. You can find pretty much everything for stocking your bar. Let me start by saying that I have lived in Utah for the past 3 years. And I moved to Utah from Texas, where many things really ARE bigger. Like liquor stores. It was horrifying for me to see the sad State Liquor Stores in Utah and realize my life would never be the same again. ENTER LEE'S! Wendover is a great time, and it's just a quick trip from SLC. My husband and I came across Lee's after a night of poker and we were SO EXCITED! Not only was it a giant liquor store, but it was extremely cheap! For example, we got a giant bottle of Bombay Dry gin for around $25. A much smaller bottle would've cost $30 in Texas, so I was really happy with this price. Don't like Bombay? Don't like gin? Want a specific brand of sake? Fancy tequila? No worries! At Lee's, the options are endless. If all of my dreams came true, Lee's would also have a selection of salamis, cheeses, and olives. But in the meantime, I will be very happy with this giant, cheap alcohol heaven just the way it is. read more

When you compare Lee's to previous liquor stores that Wendover had in the past, it is by far a huge improvement. The selection is very large, especially in the wine area. They have chilled beer, which seems like a no brainer, but when you live in Utah--as I do--then it's just really refreshing to see beverages stored in a way that the consumer could pick them up and take them directly to a party or a gathering and have the beverages at the correct temperature. The liquor selection was also fairly good, though not amazingly noteworthy. Still, it's a step above what Wendover had previously. The staff were neither exceptionally well versed in good customer service, neither were they noticeably lacking in their customer service skills. It was middle of the road. The bathrooms were clean and functional, though the toilet paper holder in the stall I used was broken, which I don't think bodes well if parts of the store are already falling apart and not being repaired when they haven't really been open all that long. In general, Lee's is still far better than what Wendover had previously and also is better than any liquor store in Utah. read more

I'm guessing COVID has taken its toll at this location. Many of the shelves are so empty it looks like they're going out of business. Most of the items on my shopping list were sold out in the 1.75 liter size. Might be because the nearby Casinos were closed for awhile. One glaring omission is they carry NO High West Whiskey. The Lee's website says they do have it but......not. I wouldn't call it all "Discount unless it's on sale. Prices are pretty average. They do have a great inventory of everything compared to Utah State Stores......when the shelves are stocked. Oh, I'll go back but store need restocking. One consideration is people are buying record amounts of liquor across the country so there's some hoarding going on like toilet paper early days of COVID. People are buying cases leaving nothing for those who follow. read more

There was a few items that were sold out when I stopped by, however that was probably because it was the Monday after their grand opening. I'm sure that on a normal day their beer cooler would be fuller. And they definitely had plenty of the most popular items. OK, I'm a loyal customer of Lee's in Mesquite, NV. Since the store in West Wendover is only 2 hours from me, I decided to check it out. I usually buy in case-lot for cellar restocking and send an e-mail with my order for pick-up. Did not do it this time, as it was the first visit. It may be my last, and here's why. From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed to be less than willing to help us out. The impression was that we were a "distraction" to them. The wine was 85% organized by type, but some was scattered in other, non-variety racks. When we indicated that there were some cases we wanted to by, we were told that what was on the floor was all they had (nothing in the back?). Since we bought about 3 dozen bottles, we discovered at checkout that they had no boxes with dividers in them to load the bottles into. Only one wine we bought came in a case. Overall, the general attitude was not welcoming. One employee that my wife was talking to and asking why there was no cases in the back and the inventory was not well organized, the employee said "we've only been open for 6 months". Really?? They can't get their act together in 6 months??! Also, the pricing on some items was not particularly great. Friends that were with us went to checkout and were treated well by the cashier, but our cashier was not very friendly. In fact, he had the credit card terminal facing him so I could not see the items as they rang up. In fact, he took my card, put it in the terminal, and only turned it toward me when I was signing for the purchase (not good). In the end, we spent $500+ and went away feeling like we were imposing on them. I suppose I'll give them one more shot and call in my order for pickup. If that doesn't turn out better, it's back to Mesquite for my business. read more

Stopped here as I saw the building from the highway. I'm glad I did! Talk about a selection!!! This is the largest liquor store I've ever visited (I may lead a sheltered life). The selections were nicely marked in each isle. From beer to the hard stuff, if it's made, they probably have it. Staff was assisting other customers but from what I heard, they seemed very helpful. Prices seemed reasonable and I left the building with more than I had planned to purchase. The store is not far from the main highway and very easy to get to. They take credit cards and they had several empty boxes at the register that you can take with you. It made it easier to carry out my more than a handful of bottles. read more

Anything but discount! They had EH Taylor Single Barrel on the shelf for $59.99. When they rang up the bottle, it was shown at $170!!!!! The lady argued with me saying this is a "Jr" and I explained all EH Taylor are "Jr". She then argued that this bottle that is $59.99 is a 100 proof single barrel. I then pointed to the bottle that Th is was that same bottle. She told me this is not right and this should be in the case! There were 5 other bottles on the shelf! The past two visits have produced wines that have not been kept properly. After having the 2016 Chalk Hill Chardonnay from a Utah state store, I indulged in a case buy at Lees. But for the label, the two wines are not recognizable, The Lees crop has dry corks and is "off." The last visit I bought La Cremates Arroyo Seco (another favorites of my wife's) and the corks on the two bottles we bought both broke off. The color and taste are way off.'' It appears that the staff does not know how to store or keep wine. Regardless of the price, wasted wine does not help me. No more trips to Wendover. read more
