Recently visited the Lee's Famous Recipe place near me and was confused when I got home and opened the box. The side of baked beans looked like someone had already eaten half of it. I thought I was given someone else's plate. An average side dish has 4 Tablespoons of beans but this contained only 3 teaspoons. So I was mistaken 3/4ths of the beans were not there. I would have been embarrassed to serve this to my customer. Need better quality control going out the kitchen!!! But because I love their Chicken I will probably try again and see if things get better. Wish me luck... read more

Came for my bday meal. This place has gone downhill. The chicken I ordered was cold. The sides also cold. The muffin the shoved into my mashed potatoes in the to go box and the potatoes wedges weren't cooked all the way through. I'm glad it was free because I would have asked for a refund at first bite. I think this has the worst fried chicken of all the other places on the fort. Def won't come back. read more

I spent 72.00 on the family strip meal. The strips were undercooked and the sides were incorrect and barely warm. I contacted the restaurant and got no response. I'll be going to KFC from now on. At least they try to keep their customers happy read more

Love this place! Way better than KFC and consistently good, quality chicken (unlike some of their competitors). We go here probably once or twice per month and some of my favorites are the fried chicken combo, chicken strips (some of the best in town), the cole slaw and chicken and noodles. I found the history of Lee's Chicken interesting. Lee Cummings, the nephew of Colonel Sanders (founder of KFC), began traveling with Sanders in 1952, selling their own special blend of spices along with their famous pressure cookers, which later became part of KFC's "Secret Recipe". In three years, Cummings and Sanders opened over 800 KFC restaurants. After the sale of KFC in 1962, Cummings began developing his recipe, later to be known as "Famous Recipe." In 1966, Cummings, along with Harold Omer, started "Harold's Take-Home" in Lima, Ohio where Cummings first introduced his Famous Recipe Chicken. I went here last night with my mom and my grand daughter. We were immediately greeted by 3 different people upon entering. We ordered and went to our seat. The restaurant was clean and everyone was friendly. The food was really, really good. We got a chicken and noodle dinner, a chicken strip dinner and a kids meal. I think the best value was the kids meal. A huge piece of chicken on the sandwich, applesauce, green beans and a drink. I think that would be enough for anyone for lunch. The chicken was hot and moist, the noodles were good. The green beans were good - the rolls - well you get the idea. EVERYTHING was really good. We will be back! read more

First! WTH? So we remembered the Lee's opened on the other side of Walmart. We all ordered dinners there and there was a 12 minute wait for the chicken, it was really good and huge in size. The sides were old and cold. The dining area was very nice and completely clean . It was an average chicken shop. I would say it's a quick and cheap lunch place. read more

My family has always been big fans of Lee's, especially over KFC, and the food is a pretty good deal when you use coupons. However, one experience in particular has driven me away from this location, and led me to tell everyone I know how horrible it is! After coming from a particularly painful Dr.'s appointment where I had my eyes dilated (which always results in a vicious headache and some resulting nausea for me), my Mom took me to dinner at Lee's. My appointment had run extremely late, well into the dinner hour, and we were intending to be home by then, but hadn't made it. She knew i was in no condition to cook (barely being able to see), and she didn't have anything prepared, so we stopped in at the newest Lee's location to check it out. She sent me in to order our food while she parked, and she handed me a senior coupon to use for her food (because she's a senior). The order taker accused me of trying to scam the system and tried to charge me full price, even after I EXPLAINED THAT ONE OF THE TWO MEALS I WAS ORDERING WAS FOR MY MOM, WHO IS A SENIOR, and my Mom came in and was standing next to me (gray hair and reading glasses and all) before the transaction was complete). Then, we had to ask three different times for cups for our drinks. Three.times.for.cups. Seriously? Do they not realize that KFC takes competitor's coupons, and will honor ten of those Senior Meal coupons in one transaction, whether or not a senior is actually present? Perhaps, Lee's needs to be a little less legalistic and a little more grateful for the support they're getting as a local business. But, that was actually not the low point of the meal. After eating most of my food, the post eye-dilation headache hit me with a vengeance, accompanied by a sudden and overwhelming wave of nausea. I ran to the bathroom and made it just in time, and got sick in the toilet. (No commentary on the food. This happens even after I eat homecooked food when I've had this procedure done. That isn't my complaint here.) I flushed and washed my hands and face a bit, and made sure I'd left the bathroom clean and tidy as I'd found it, and then walked back to the table and sat with my Mom until I felt better. A few minutes later, as I ventured to sip some of my drink, I heard two of the presumably teenage girl employees gossiping cattily behind my back. One of them commented about how someone would have to go clean up after me. (She obviously hadn't even been IN the ladies' room, because I didn't leave a mess at all.) The other one said, "Bulimic people are so disgusting. They shouldn't be allowed to eat here." I'm so offended, I will never return to this Lee's, and I plan to tell everyone I know about this bad experience. In general, regarding other Lee's locations, our family's favorite items are the crispy spicy thighs and breasts, the potato wedges, the coleslaw, and the mashed potatoes and gravy. The service and food at the East State location are reliably much better, so go there if the distance is all the same to you! read more

As I walk in any fast-food restaurant, I don't expect a top-notch customer service, but my minimum expectation would be them handling my food nice and gently; they serve foods, right? I've been visiting this location for a while; by the number of times, presumably 6-7 times would be correct estimation. The definite description of the impression on this location would be constantly decaying quality of customer service. Today, I decided to write this review because I witnessed one of employee (could be a manager) throwing foods over the counter. Literally, my chicken box was flying over the counter. I might visit this location once in a while since this is the best fried chicken franchise that I've visited so far and their 10 pc box for $10 promotion is the best deal, but the review has written as a kind reminder for the future customers and the owner who might care about the reputation of the restaurant. So after the first mess up and unsatisfactory handling of the mistake we gave them another shot. Again they messed up the sides shorting us. This time the lady said she will send us 10.00 off our next order. She never did. I still went back a third time, because it is right next to my gym. The 3rd time the spicy crispy was gritty and only seemed to have a single coating on it. I did not even complain this time, because they never took care of the second complaint. If you want good Lees you have to go to the one down south or state street. I have never had a problem from them. read more

Pretty average fast food chicken joint. The chicken here is comparable to KFC. The sides are kind of small and they forgot one of mine. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. read more
