I ordered 2 beef pad thai for takeout a couple days ago. When I opened both containers at home, both were barely half full. Really disappointing as I haven't had this issue with Lee's before. One of the pad thai also tasted like it had gone off, might have been the beef. Not sure if I'll go back. The waitress who served me could have better communication skills especially since she's dealing with the public on a continuous basis; try being friendly and improve your grammar, try responding with actual words instead of "uh huh." A smile would go a long way as well. Quite rude. Don't know what happened to the other waitresses as they were great, always friendly. read more

We ordered ramen , beef broccoli and padthai. Its our first time in the restaurant and the server ask us after ordering pad thai if we want beef chicken or shrimp. We tought its a selection of the meat you want with the pad thai. When they serve the food, theres no pad thai but theres a fried rice that we didnt order. We tried to ask the server to confirm if its the pad thai and they said its fried rice. We just wanted to know if the server misheard it from pad thai to fried rice but their server tried to insist that we ordered the fried rice. We are just disappointed about what happened, that she insisted that shes right and we are wrong. read more

We sat down to eat and the first thing we were asked is if we would like to leave a review for a free drink. we ordered and the food came fairly quickly. i ordered the pad thai and it was very spicy and heavily seasoned with black pepper, it was overpowering. my mother ordered the beef bulgogi, the rice was undercooked but the flavours were good. the customer service was good. When we let them know we did not care for the phase thai they were very accommodating and took it off our bill. read more

Came here twice during my week of work in Penticton. From the outside, the restaurant looks shabby but I was tempted to give this place a chance based on yelp reviews and cravings for Japanese food. The first time I went, I ordered the bulgogi (Korean bbq'd beef on rice) which happened to be the current special. I was surprised more than anything to find that they would be serving such a Korean dish (I suspect the restaurant is run by Koreans). It came as a fairly large portion with marinated beef and shitake mushrooms on top of rice with some thinly cut lettuce on the side. It tasted pretty good. I also decided to order the super dynamite roll (tempura shrimp, tempura yam). This wasn't all that special. My bill came to $20 after everything. I was kind of irked that they charged me $0.75 for green tea but they give you a full pot so I guess it isn't total highway robbery. The second time I went was right before heading to the airport to return home. I ordered the pad thai with beef after seeing another table have it on my previous visit. Presentation-wise, it looks delicious: large bowl, nice portion of noodles, wedge of lime. Taste-wise, it was a little too saucy for my taste. It was good but this slight adjustment in the flavor would have made it so much better. I would recommend this place to others who are looking for a good Asian fix. They have sushi, fried rice and other choices that Asian people would actually eat (none of that Westernized crap). Finding decent Asian fare that's not a buffet has been a challenge! Based on reviews I picked this place. While this is my first time trying it, the in-laws said it was pretty good. I ordered pad Thai , chicken teriyaki rice bowl and sushi. The overall experience was just okay and the food was ok tasting . Nothing really stood out except for the pad Thai which was that it was the most sweetest tasting - almost like the pink stuff in a futomaki roll - I have ever experienced! That was left untouched and even the 3 year old who loves shrimp spit out the shrimp- that's saying something! The teriyaki chicken was bizarre as the pieces were round and flat and pretty dry too - not like the usual teriyaki chicken I've had. Luckily the rice it was on was good and my son ate that! As for the sushi rolls , I've had better. The chopped scallop's saving grace was the toasted black sesame seeds! The tastiest thing was the pickled ginger. read more

When we moved to the small city of Penticton back in mid 1990's, we were delighted to find Lee's. Especially my wife who was a big sushi and Asian food fan. It was fast, remarkably fresh so far from traditional seafood markets and friendly. Over the years we've recommended this place to our friends, notably those who had recently moved from big cities and needed a fix of urban originality. Lee's does more than just sushi and Japanese food. They offer a few a la carte 'Chinese' dishes and a fresh grill bar similar to a Mongolian or Korean grill. We still go there and have our favourites. But lately we've noticed that the place isn't as kept up as well as it can be. Dirty floors and poorly wiped tables seem to be a regular occurrence. The service is routinely absent-minded and their timing never seems to be on. That said, we love the ginger beef, various sushi rolls and sashimi, tempuras and nigiri. The prices are fair, too, if you consider (again) distance from commercial fresh markets and a lack of serious competition - until lately. The fact of the matter is: there are restaurants doing it better than Lee's now in the neighbourhood. They've basically come into Lee's schoolyard and they're taking their lunch money. Where we formerly said, "You MUST go to Lee's" we're probably now saying, "You could try Lee's -" and then we qualify the remark. read more

Let's not kid ourselves... Cash only in 2012? Unacceptable. ATM beside cash register charging $2 to withdraw money and pay your bill is offensive. Food is good, Sunomono salad is good as are the Salad rolls. Yam tempura is excellent. But that cash only thing just pisses me off. You'd think that a block away from the Canada Revenue Agency Building would be a deterrent, but I guess not... Cash only it still is. read more

I was disappointed after reading the many good reviews here on Yelp. I likes Sushi and during a business trip to Penticton, I thought I would indulge. My general impression of the resteraunt is that it appears to be clean. It does not have much of an atmosphere though. The first thing I saw that turned me off was a staff member sneezing into her hands and then carrying on with her job - no hand washing. This is concerning especially as much of the food is served raw. This brings me to my second point. I ordered some Nigiri, the Ebi was dry and the Tuna was partly frozen. The last thing that let the experience down was that of the 3 items I ordered, I only received 2. This is obviously a popular spot with the locals, the staff seamed to know many of them very well. If you are looking for high quality sushi, I would keep looking. read more

This is probably one of the best dining experiences I have had in the 2.5 years I have lived in Penticton. I wish I knew this place existed before now. Arrived and it was quiet, much to the surprise of the staff and myself. Things did pickup shortly after though. Interesting menu, with a little of this and that. I miss my days of living in Vancouver and getting really good traditional and western style Chinese food. These guys do the western style justice. With a smaller menu than I'm accustomed to, I was a little concerned until I dug in. Everything is cooked to order and the kitchen is relatively open. Always a good sign. The dishes were piping hot and portions were just right. There were 3 of us and we ordered 4 dishes. Took home about a plate full of food. The staff seemed to really enjoy themselves. There was plenty of laughter and lots of smiles from everyone. Service was prompt and friendly. This place really dispels all the stereotypes of Asian restaurants. Great service. Great food. Clean and affordable. I don't think you can ask for much more. read more

This place was amazing! I really didn't expect it to be so good. The sushi was great and well priced; really nice fish. My party also had the Yaki Udon and Pad Thai, everyone enjoyed their food.
