I took my vehicle here because my ac wasn't working properly. 400 dollars later they said they replaced a hose. Not even a week later the ac completely goes out. I called to ask them about it since I had asked them to completely check out every ac component when I brought it in. All he did was get angry and defensive and hung up on me. Where can I start with this shop? I guess only from the beginning. They advertise AC as one of their specialties so I took my car to them as the AC was blowing warm air. After diagnosing the system it was declared operational with no vacuum leaks and they added freon to proper levels. The system was working fine when leaving the shop but after using the AC for a couple of days it again started to blow warm air. I returned to the shop. They said they would put dye in the freon to help identify the leak. Again...after pressure testing and another needed visit to the shop there again was no visual presence of a leak with the dye. The shop as they could not find a vacuum leak at the 3rd visit declared the compressor as the malfunctioning unit with NO EVIDENCE what so ever. No visible leak in the compressor so how could they declare this as the problem? Just an easy way out. Anyways theyre the experts so I went along and they quoted me a high price so I asked if I could provide them with a new compressor and if they would install it to save a few bucks. The bills were adding up !!!! They agreed so I bought a new compressor from a reputable store and as agreed the shop did the installation. After installing a new compressor and paying in excess of $800 for both again within a few days the AC was blowing warm. I brought the car back only to pay another two hours of labor to see if they could identify the problem. Nope.......the vacuum test showed no leak. So the system with the old and now the new compressor was showing the same results. A new compressor OBVIOUSLY was NOT needed and the problem MISDIAGNOSED. More not needed expenses !!! This all proved most frustrating as all the labor and parts dollars were really adding up. They again put dye into the system after installation of the new compressor to see if they could identify the problem and again the vacuum test found nothing wrong. How is this possible? I personally went on an automobile forum online with my situation and the posters asked if the evaporator was tested. The forum presented me with the correct way to vacuum test which included a two hour test and then a probe into the evaporator to see if a leak could be detected. I forwarded this information to the shop and what do you know. HERE IS WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS ALL ALONG !! A leaky evaporator. A CUSTOMER had to tell them how to diagnose the system. This would be quite humorous if it wasnt for such big, not needed expenses and countless trips to the shop. Now with all the testing, new parts and labor I paid for totaling $1200+ youd think the shop would stand by their work and try to work out a suitable resolution with me...right? Wrong.....they now wanted nothing to do with me or repairing what was one of their specialties, repairing AC units. They advised me to find another shop with NO compensation what so ever. Real class act. I called a REPUTABLE shop and received an immediate quote. Easy job. All of this took place over a span of two years. This is mainly because I am not a full time resident and when here in Florida its during the winter months when AC is not needed. The vehicle is also a convertible so the only time AC is needed is during a rain storm when the vehicle is closed up. And the return visits were countless causing mass frustration!! The shop will try to use this time frame as a way to weasel out of their responsibilities. Sad. Good luck in using this shop and wish you the best. The worst auto repair related experience I've ever had. I'm a retired certified mechanic that just moved here. I brought my wife's F150 in for a spark plug replacement which I would have done but my arm was in a sling. They made all kinds of excuses why they didn't want to change them and after screwing around with it they called her back while I was at the doctor and unavailable saying it was the engine management computer. $2700 later it still didn't run right and STILL needed the plugs changed. They really raped me for that too. An additional $484...which I would have happily paid in the first place had they not try to do something I didn't ask! Honest? They still insist the computer was faulty so we had it tested it at our expense and it's good. They still won't refund for their error. We're taking them to court but if you don't want to be a victim, I would suggest avoiding them at all costs. I found out the good reviews in this site are from when the business was being run by the former owner who just retired recently. read more

Get everything in writing! George literally just lied to me, backpedaled, and was not true to his word. There was a problem with my car and they replaced a strut that was not broken to begin with. It turns out it was the sway bar and links but they first fixed the front left strut. Then I still heard the noise. After another conversation george tells me "well we normally fix both struts at the same time but the mechanic didn't tell me till after he already fixed the left strut." I said well let's wait and see if you can fix the problem first before we go and replace the right strut. To which George replied "well there was nothing wrong with the left strut, we can put the old left strut back on." I then asked, why don't we go ahead and do the right strut that way they're both done instead of your mechanic wasting time on taking off the new strut on the left and putting on the old (not broken strut) and then I'll just pay for the part and you pay for the labor; to which he agreed. Again, my fault for not getting this in writing. He told me to bring the car in today and that it will take three hours to do the right strut and the sway bar. 45 minutes later he asked me to go for a ride, they fixed the sway bar (stabilizer bar and links) and it turns out that was the problem all along. He tells me while we're driving, while he's driving my car, "well we fixed the stabilizer and I told you we would make it right so we're not gonna charge you for that." I asked what about the right strut, and he goes into all of this doublespeak giving me examples of other customers and how he saves them money by not doing repairs unnecessarily, etc. I explain that I'm unpset that he's going back on his word he says "well I'm upset too." He actually argues with me, and we pull back up into his service station and I say you're really willing to lose a customer over this and he doesn't seem to care. Finally instead of arguing with him I just said I'm done and left. It was clearly cheaper for them to replace the stabilizer and links then it would've been for them to replace the right strut with labor. So he doesn't charge me for this but meanwhile I've already paid for the left strut to the tune of almost $350, unnecessarily. If you're thinking of using the service I would move on to your next option. And if you do decide to use the service get every single word he tells you in writing. I thought I could trust him and he proved me wrong and I'm extremely unhappy about the whole situation; if you're thinking of using the service I would move on to your next option. And if you do decide to use the service get EVERY SINGLE WORD he tells you in writing!!! read more

Do not take your vehicle here. George was told at least three times why my car was there and didn't listen to any of it. Told me I needed a new instrument cluster since the rpm gauge wasn't working, but he didn't even know if the gauge was digital or had a needle. Put everything off on the mechanics. He hadn't looked at it at all. Took the car to have a radiator replaced because it was running hot and told him this. He told me in our first conversation that if the radiator was the problem it would cost this much. He would check and make sure that was the problem. He takes the radiator out before he finds out if he can even get the correct radiator for the car. He finds out he can't. They're obsolete. I get on the computer and find several. Needless to say, I wasn't happy when I picked up the car. You've been warned! read more

We started bringing our vehicles there over 10 years ago after having disappointing experiences at other repair shops and finding AAA Auto South recommended them. They are honest and do great work. They don't over charge and they will let you know whether you really need something done or whether there is a cheaper alternative. They always remember to put things back together right, unlike our experiences at some other shops. That's why we've gone there for so long and will continue to go as long as they're around. We even have our cars towed from over 50 miles away to them if they break down. Our kids will bring their cars to them as well. read more

Please read this to avoid the terrible ordeal I just went through... After taking my vehicle there for service (because I read their 5 star feedback) I had one the worst experiences of my life. They could not fix my car after taking it there 4x. The sign says there work is warranted but they supposedly found something different wrong with it each time. Fortunately I asked for all the parts back they said they replaced (by law you can if you suspect fraud). After they refused to fix it and over $3000 later I took it to the Ford dealership who analyzed the problem, tested my old parts and they were good so I had them reinstalled. Leesburg auto also wrote on the service bill that they installed genuine Ford Motorcraft parts. The Ford dealership pulled aftermarket Chinese parts out and this time actually did use Ford parts. After denying my request to settle, I took them to small claims court. THEY HIRED A LAWYER TO SQUIRM OUT OF SETTLING because apparently they were too afraid to face me! Well long story short the judgement was against them and I finally got my money back. It came out after talking to their lawyer after it was over, that the original owner retired and the new manager was now calling the shots. All the 5 star ratings are dated before the fox appears to have raided the henhouse so to speak. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. The anxiety and several days off work to straighten this out just weren't worth it... If you have a Ford we were treated very fairly and reasonably at Prestige Ford in Mt Dora.
