I booked an event here for a school group and generally was happy with everything, but there could be some improvements. The booking process was easy, and the staff are very responsive through email. They use a portal for the payment, contract, and waivers which is very convenient. When I arrived, the staff were very helpful and gave me the wristbands and vouchers for hot chocolate right away. They explained the bags for storage were an additional cost, even for large groups, but they were nice and gave me additional bags I needed after purchasing two for our group of 40 people. The lines were EXTREMELY long and slow for general admission which is disappointing when the sessions are limited to 1.5 hours. By the time you purchase tickets and get your skates, part of the session is over. Our session didn't end right at the session end time; they seem to give an additional 10-15 minutes after the end time. I wouldn't recommend getting the $2 chocolate add-on for large groups. Students said the hot chocolate wasn't hot and also didn't taste good at all. This was disappointing given the additional cost. Overall, I would recommend this rink but hope they can provide quicker service at the ticket counter as well as at the skate rental. read more

Good ol' LeFrak Center. So many memories. I had a birthday party here in middle school so this place has been around in Prospect Park forever. It's a fun time and there's been improvements throughout the years. Better sound system and tunes, better food and beverage options, better skates, etc. It's an awesome place to go ice skating in the colder months. There are two rinks and on weekends it can get a bit crowded. In the summer there's roller skating rink and kiddie splash pad. So pretty much, any season there's some fun to be had. read more

Time has changed since the last time I went was in 2016 and decided to revisit this place on December 2024. I've brought my own ice skates and needed to purchased admission which was about $15. I didn't get the full 1.5 hour session since I arrived after 1:30pm. So I ice skated about half the session. They asked if I would like to ice skated the half indoor or outdoor rink. I chose outdoor rink. Back then, it could be both, but that happened during a 2016 school trip. There is some improvements and I see there are small and big lockers rentals to store for $5 or $10 at a 2-hour limit. There was also an electronic waiver to sign. read more

Multi use event center which I have been to many times. I've attended race events here when it's used as HQ for number and gear pickup. I've walked around here eating and drinking when wine and food expos have used this spot. Large bathrooms to use on site. During winter season it's also used as an ice skating rink. This was the first time I have been to this ice rink. I held a Girl Scout ice skating event and the staff was very nice and helpful. They were able to provide all our girls skates and hot chocolate for $16 per person. We asked for the rink under the roofing. All the girls had a fun time and enjoyed their hot coco after skating. That said...does it have to be so crazy expensive? $75 for 2 tickets, 1 skate rental (I have my own skates) and a skate aid? And if it does, could they at least refill the soap in the bathrooms and mop once in a while and maybe even replace the toilet seats so you don't slide off them and knick yourself in the *ss? And possibly consider staggering the covered/uncovered rink skating windows so the line isn't long/slow af every 90 minutes? Please? read more

Ice skating rink review only. My friends and I came to LeFrak Center for some ice skating. The ice is better maintained than some rinks in Manhattan (i.e. Bryant Park/Pier 17) and we all had a great time at the rink. They have both open-air and a covered rink meaning it is much less crowded here even on a weekend. My group unfortunately didn't know beforehand that the session was constrained to a specific 90 minute block. Make sure to get there early and on time to optimize on your skate time. Their pricing for rink admission and rental skates are very reasonable, but if you have your own skates, you still need to pay for rink admission. (You do not need to pay to watch people skate on the side of the rink.) They have both small (3$) and some spacious large (8$) lockers for rent with a 2 hour limit. Overall a solid choice for ice-skating if you are willing to trek over to Prospect Park! read more

Cool rink but they make you pay $25 for the walker. Thats extremely unreasonable and it preys on inexperienced people/kids. I've been hearing about the roller skate themed parties on Friday nights here for years but never attended until recently. My friend Paige let me know about the Beyonce Roller Skating Night and we had to buy tickets. The tickets were $25 each (with taxes and fees) which seem a bit pricey but I enjoyed myself. The fee includes entrance and the rental of skates. There is a bar close to the roller rink and a food station on the other side. I tried the grilled cheese and tater tots. Both were reasonably priced and yummy. We are after a good hour of skating. I'm glad they had the food court area because you surely will work up an appetite. You can skate to the food area but it's a bit bumpy so I suggest going back to your locker and getting your shoes to go eat. The roller rink is a good size and there are tons of professional skaters that work for the rink (dressed in noticeable pink shirts) looking out and helping those who fall. If someone falls while skating someone reaches them instantly. I felt safe, I had a blast. I was really happy with the DJ and the fact that he actually played Beyonce songs all night as promised. I was happy to see an ice skating - "Let's Skate" event hosted at LeFrak Center at Prospect Park for only $16.00 each via Eventbrite. It was a first for my son and I, but the third time for my 13 year old daughter. The event started at 12:30pm per the ticket, but I failed to read the fine print "Meet at the front at 1pm for VIP tickets. That was my mistake, what occurred next wasn't. I gave my phone to the cashier and she immediately said, "OOPS" of course I said, "OH BOY!" she called over a manager and explained the ticket bar code was not working. I explained I was there for "Let's Skate" and it was coordinated through Eventbrite. She immediately looked up the event on her sheet but didn't see "Let's Skate" I found the email from the coordinator and it was known as Island something or the other. The manager located their name, but asked if I could call her to ask where my ticket was. Anyone who uses eventbrite know you don't usually have that kind of information. The other manager, Mike Schulman was called over and I write this as a reflection on him and not the other employees. He's a nasty manager, I mean down right UNPROFESSIONAL and rude. Everyone else that helped me were kind, patient and helpful, but him - NOT a NICE BONE in his bearded body. He would scream on his walkie talkie radio, "WE ARE NOT HOSTING A FOUR HOUR EVENT AND I DIDN'T AUTHORIZE THIS NOR DID SHE GET THIS FROM OUR WEBSITE!". That was a lie on his part, I did get it from their website. I plan on calling LeFrak to advise of how he acted while my kids and I were sorting this out. May I say I finally had enough of him raising his voice at me in front of his staff and my kids. I told him to please refrain from speaking to me as such or I will contact their corporate office to file a formal complaint against him. He immediately calmed down, but the damage was done. My son was crying and my daughter was really upset. I pulled them aside to console them. When I came out of the office location I was approached by the eventbrite coordinator that explained she told them the instructions to pass along to people like me who purchased ticket under "Let's Skate" that came inside for help. After all was cleared up we ice skated and enjoyed 3 hours of laughs and fun. The trainers on ice are very patient. Even the people at the cafe are kind. Also, my son fell and got lip bleed and the nurse, Jessica was so kind and professional. She gave us a ice bag and instructions on what to do. Let me break it down.... This review is mainly for the Splash Pad section at LeFrak Center. I first heard of Splash Pad when my son was in preschool 4 years ago. They used to take the kids here and my son loved it! Today was my first time coming. We came for one of his classmates birthday. We got here late so I'm not sure what they did for the party festivities. There were small slices of pizza that didn't taste bad. The kids loved it. There were several tables with umbrellas that were used for the parties. When there is no party, anyone can sit there on a first come first serve. As for the Splash Pad itself, I thought it'd be more. It's just a large circular area for the kids to run around in with ¼" of water to run around in. There were maybe 7 or 8 of the sprinklers on at low-very low power. A lot of the kids were taking the water from the floor to fill up their water shooters and spraying each other with that dirty water. A few had buckets to fill up to load the shooters with- and most of those would hog up the few sprinklers that were working. Regardless, the kids all had a great time. There is also a skating rink available which you could see from the Splash Pad area. Roller skates in the summer and ice skates in the winter. I came ice skating briefly with my son this winter but didn't stay long. He did not enjoy falling AT ALL!!! Lol! He had a hard time even with the penguin guide ( an actual plastic penguin with handles you pay extra for that's Supposed to help you balance). And I was of NO use because I haven't skated in over 20 years! I was scared to death myself, but having a good time trying not to kill myself on the ice. They do have instructors for a fee but I didn't have the money for that. We might try roller skating at some point this summer. If so, I'll let ya know how that goes... read more

Went with friends for a celebratory 51st birthday roller skating outing. The set up is wonderful and the COVID protocol very amenable. It's outdoors but doesn't feel like it. The scenery great. And from renting your skates to skating to returning your skates, very streamline and very seamless and orderly. I'd go again. As a child of the 80's, I'm used to roller skating rinks being hard wood and your entry fee allowing for hours of skating. But the new normal of a few hours (and harder, yet still smooth roller skating surface), a fun safe time can be had here for people of all ages and skating ability. Yesterday I came here with my students. The skating rink is near the the lake where you can paddle boat. The bathrooms and the locker rooms were very clean. However, I'm reviewing for the food. They have a variety of food options for all type of eaters from quinoa salads to angus burgers. I had the angus burger with cheddar cheese, avocado and bacon on brioche bun. It was delicious. This place is so fun in the winter time to come and skate! As a former figure skater, I like going skating on the hockey rink's public session since the ice sheet is larger, there's less people during the weekdays, and it's not super expensive. Even if you have your own skates, you have to pay to skate which is standard for the city (except Bryant Park). It's again a very neighborhood feel as it's in Prospect park, but an easy walk from the subways or if you live in the area. Fun place for wintertime activities for sure! read more

DO NOT GO ROLLING SKATING HERE! Was there for less than hour for my bachelorette party. My group and I got up to go skate and on the way from the tables to the rink, (didn't even get on the rink) I went down and broke my wrist with my fall. My wrist was in the opposite direction and It was immediately painful. Bj from security was very sweet and took great care of me and called the ambulance. I understand we signed waivers on our way in and we're skating at our own risks but My biggest issue was when picking up our skates NOONE asked us about helmets or wrist guards which I would have happily paid for. NOONE Offered any sort of tips about skating safely. On arrival at the hospital, the nurse said to me "it must be Friday. we're you are that skating rink? That place is a death trap." In addition three other patients I saw during my time there came from the rink. I was there till 3:30am. My wrist is broken and I will most likely have to wear a sling on my wedding day. I'm devastated. Again completely understand we signed up at our own risk, but clearly there is an issue of safety here and Just the sole fact that no one offered us safety gear could have made a huge difference. We didn't get to enjoy our table for more than half an hour. Some of my groups didn't even make it to the rink. They went immediately to meet me at the hospital. No one from the rink has apologized. read more

This skating rink is so much fun to visit especially on nights where Lola Star Dreamland events are being held. The facility is so clean , and the staff are all really friendly and have great spirits . Asides from the great people that are currently employed here , this rink has clean rest rooms , a plethora of sitting areas and a massive rink . There are also many options of skates to choose from if you don't have your own pain . There are no half size skates so you may have to choose a half size up or down depending on your foot size. Also , another thing to keep in mind if you can skate is to be careful. Before entering I was asked to sign a disclosure that pretty much said the rink wasn't responsible for any injuries that I may get while skating . And I understood why this document was necessary because many people fell and hurt themselves . Atleast five people out of maybe a hundred or more fell and hurt themselves . Luckily the LeFrak team are fast acting and took care each injured person immediately . EMTs were called immediately and each person was escorted out of the rink in a wheel chair and then placed on a stretcher. To be honest I had the pleasure of slipping and falling in the skating ring , and it was unlike any pain I ever felt in my life . The rink is marble instead of wood so it's much more slippery than I am accustomed to . I learned to skate on wood floor so marble was a big change for me . After falling once the pain encouraged me to never fall again ! I'm serious I made sure my butt never hit the floor again. Nonetheless this rink is great and I will definitely return to skate again . read more

Despite the timed ticketing, there is no social distancing here, nor any enforcement of mask wearing. They sell way too many tickets it appears. It was super crowded (just as much as usual preCOVID) no space to sit to put the skates on, no possible way to keep 6feet apart, on and off the ice. Did not feel safe despite being outdoors. Not serious or professional for an establishment of their size and in such a public setting. Very concerning. PS: also their phone voicemail is not updated. It states 2018 season dates and hours, mentions nothing about COVID timed tickets or procedures, and you cannot ever get to someone live. Today was the opening for the bumper cars however the bumper cars are not on the ice! They are located on the side of the rink in a location that is smaller than my backyard. My preteen grandson and teenage daughter, niece, and grandniece were so disappointed!!! The manager was not helpful as I explained that there is no advertising for this and the website takes you to pics of the ice rink. There is no way that this activity is for people older than 7. This is very deceptive. My family was so dissatisfied that I had to wait to buy them tickets to the ice skating rink, something we've done many times and I was going to treat them to come Saturday for the Harry x Taylor Disco Concert, but I spent way too much money here as I had to get them food while we waited for the ice rink to finish and be cleaned which was over an hour an half. The staff was not rude except for the manager Mike Schulman who was dismissive and rude. Never acknowledged that there was no clear advertising of the space or signs definitively directing you where to go. His response is that it's new, well, duh that is why we wanted to go!!! On a whim, my family and I went ice-skating for the first time. Well, correction...they hit the ice while I volunteered to sit this one out to spare myself the embarrassment and bruises lol. It was a bit chilly outside but it's the weekend and this activity was popular among the locals. The line for skate rentals was a tad long but moved relatively quickly once people realized that there were actually three associates. Offerings include indoor vs outdoor rink, child/adult-size skates, skate helpers, and lockers. Great to see staffers on hand in case of a wipeout on the ice, but without their uniform jacket they were difficult to identify. If you're skating with inexperienced children, avoid the second trip and just spring for the aid to help them stand upright and balance on the ice. It was a little annoying that I had to switch lines because it was not designated for skate helper rentals smh. I wish there were adult-size aids, which reminded me a lot of walkers then maybe I'd go for a spin. We had a great time, even me while I stood on the sidelines and hosted a one-woman karaoke show lol. It was hard to resist singing and dancing along to the fast tempo music. Crossing the bridge into Manhattan to go ice skating? Fuggedaboutit! We're staying right here in Brooklyn. read more

Unfortunately, have to echo what so many other reviewers are saying. It is CROWDED. Like, uncomfortably crowded, even by pre-Covid standards. Social distancing is impossible and not even encouraged; the locker area is filled with people piling on top of each other, and once your session ends- don't bother trying to get any refreshments from the cafe, as that is another massive clusterfuck. Although I am local to the area, I will continue to visit Central Park, which is much more comfortable and enforces regulations. read more

I LOVE the actual skating rink! It's in a beautiful location and the Dreamland Roller Disco is one of my favorite events in the city. However I'm disappointed in the way the management is handling the timed tickets rule. There is basically no information about the new system on their website. The hours are still listed as 11 am - 7 pm with no mention of time slots or limits. It's also impossible to call the rink and speak directly to an attendant for a quick confirmation. You really have to hunt to find information that should be easily accessible. As a community service, I'll share that the weekday time slots: 11 am - 12:30 pm 1 pm - 2:30 pm 3 pm - 4:30 pm 5 pm - 7 pm The weekend times are not listed anywhere on their site at the moment. When I last visited, I was told that tickets go on sale 15 minutes before the session begins. The Roller Disco is from 7 pm - 10 pm on Friday nights. Lastly, I hope they reconsider the time slots all together. If it was done with social distancing in mind, it actually has the opposite effect. Instead of a slow and steady stream of skaters throughout the day, they are now forcing all guests into narrow windows of time. Had a wonderful time roller skating on admission free Sunday (as part of the parks summer series), I've roller blade and ice skated when I was a teenager, but haven't done much since. The indoor rink is pretty, with natural light coming in from the park. There are about three staff members on the floor making sure all skaters are following the rules and safe. I needed time to reacquaint myself with roller skating so I held onto the side rail most of the time, and Alexis M. guided me along the way. Pop music in the background made it fun for the pros to show some roller talent. Kids and adults alike can just play and roller skates their heart out with lots of laughing with each falls. Highly recommend this as a great way to spend a day at the park and enjoy the fun. Free skate Sunday last till early September so head on out. read more

Wow! I must say this fairly priced ice skating rink that sits on the lake in Prospect Park has made an amazing renovation. The ice rink is modern and the service has improved from your local teenager giving you a pair of rundown skates that you had to trade in several times to get the right pair to an odor free, gently used pair of skates that you will lace up and have the time of your life in. There are lockers to store your items. There is a nice eating area that can get crowded. The food here is pretty good and made to order. There is not a crappy hot chocolate powder mix with hot water but a cool expresso machine served by a smiling staff member. The music system is clear and plays tunes to further amuse your skating experience. The one thing that would make this experience perfect would be heat lamps or heat curtain. I was fuhreezing. but meh it's NYC and it's winter, just fugheaboutit! read more

I attended a roller disco party here one summer night in July and have to say, with the exception of my buddy breaking his wrist, we had a very fun time! The place itself is nice. We were on the covered rink and it's really well designed and nice to look at. The skate pickup and locker situation was very orderly when I was there but it wasn't too crowded. The skating area was clean and well maintained and the people who were working to maintain order with the skaters did a good job. Music was phenomenal and it was nice to be able to sit and have a drink in the bar outside the rink and watch the action. The service at the bar was super slow as one of the guys didn't know how to work the POS system but it wasn't a tragedy or anything. Very friendly, sparkly and fun crowd for this particular roller disco event. I'd go back! read more

Came here in March right before they closed off the ice skating for the season. It wasn't as crowded for a Saturday night as I thought it was going to be. Total for entrance and rentals came to be about $17. You can leave your shoes off to the side or you can rent a locker as well. The lockers are pretty small so are best for shoes and maybe a backpack. I like how they have a inside rink area and an outside rink area. It's twice the space! And also blocks some wind if you stay in the inside area. The outside area has lights and both are speakers around playing music. Food wise, they have a little cafe area with drinks and food so you're not left the dry. Great place to kill an hour or so, especially if you're with a group or have kids. Also a great place for a date if you're looking to go ice skating in the winter! Saw the reviews said that you can go rollerblading in the summer so I'm pretty excited to check that out as it start getting warmer. read more

Booked two tickets for me and my daughter (5 yrs old) to go visit the LeFrak ice skating center. The price were quite high in my point of view and did not see option for kids pricing for online purchase. Also reserved the bundle for knee pads, elbow pads and most importantly helmet. On arrival, received what are very old looking ice skates for both myself and my adults. The smelled very bad and the shoe strings were torn and tethered. The attendant also told me there were no more helmets and we should just purchase our own. I asked him why the system allows for it to be reserved and pay for it but not be available. The service and rental area is poorly kept. Once we finally get settled, we were able to ice skate and it was not crowded because of time slots for ticketing. Rink was nice for kids and adults. My first visit over from the UK. I have been looking forward to skating here for so long. Seen it advertised in so many places and was so excited to try it out. Rink itself were amazing. Skates on the other hand were absolutely awful. They were that blunt you could barely go in a straight line. I skate weekly normally so I have a fair bit of experience and I struggled to even move forwards. I ended up falling quite badly nearly dislocating my shoulder. When I spoke to a member of staff about this and how they shouldn't be giving out such dangerously blunt skates he told me to go get another pair. I did so, however, they werent much better. Such a shame about this because it would have been a great memory I'd have never forgotten and for $25 you'd expect to at least get a decent pair of skates. read more
