    The beautiful view

Came to Brooklyn Pier 2 Skating Ring for a Birthday party. I didn't know you could rent the venue for a few hours. We had a rewarding time. The kids where so exciting and happy while Skating. The view was breathtaking. Staff was attentive and very helpful. We had an assign staff member who help with the party venue and making sure all the kids had their wrist band, skates on and proper gear.

The race expo for the Brooklyn Half Marathon has been the only thing that has brought me out here. From what I've seen, there's a promenade around the perimeter of the pier which is used by runners and walkers to get in their exercise. There's also a covered roller rink, several handball courts, and 3 uncovered basketball courts. At the end of the pier, there's a field with artificial turf. I think it's a very good use of the space from its original purpose.

I recommend everyone check out this spot. It's children friendly & lots to do for everyone. It has basketball courts, ratchet ball courts, swings, space to just work out on grass. Oh & my favorite a Skating Rink for all ages. It's in a safe neighborhood. Pier 2 in Bklyn was built only 10yrs prior so it's still pretty new to the Promenade area. So, is the Boat Ferry to Manhattan only $4.00 one way if u don't want to take the train. Oh, by the way u must sign a Waiver to skate & u must have ur wrist guards or take the chance of wearing their nasty stink, itchy wrist guard. My friend said theirs were itchy & smelly. I had my own everything even skates & knee pads. I'm a germ a phobe. Staff, don't monitor entrance well enough they let ppl linger & pile up there. It's sometimes hard to exit. I'm surprised, that's not a fire hazard to constantly, block entrance/exit. A very good Skate Instructor is : Ramirez (201) 870-0696 he teaches kids & adults. Great personality & he'll meet u in Bklyn, Manhattan, Queens etc maybe Jersey.

We love this rink!! Came for a visit from New Orleans and really enjoyed this experience! Every skater should experience a place like this outdoors on the river. I wish we could skate here more often!

Warning- SKATE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I'm not too crazy about this place, although I can say I had a bit of fun. First of all the floor covering they use to cover up what seems like an old ice hockey rink is all wrong. In some places it's unstable and if you're not careful you can really hurt yourself and that's what happened to my daughter. She had the safety walker and all and still managed to hurt her ankle. She will be ok, she's young and it wasn't that bad. That's not the point the point is they make the adults sign this waiver where you are responsible for your own safety and on this waiver even suggested that if you don't have insurance you shouldn't skate. They are not taking any responsibility for anything. I did read that if you see anything odd it's your responsibility to make them aware. I made them aware about the area on the rink that someone could get hurt and they seem to already know about it but still continue to let people skate. No warning in that area! They even put up cones but not where it should have been. It's not cool at all to continue to take people's money knowing you have this problem. How about you warn us about that and then let us sign a waiver. After what happened my youngest daughter just gave up! She was over it. My brother said he didn't like the floor at all, and after about 30 to 45 mins of being there everyone was ready to go. Even though it was free to skate, it still can add up to be a bit pricey. It was $7 to rent skates, $11 for the walkers, .25 per locker and once you open it, that's it unless you have another quarter so don't forget anything once you put your items in. So overall I wouldn't mind coming back, but only on a free skating day, during the hours that it's free, because then they change the offer to something else, ex. Adult Night then you have to pay for everything and I don't feel like it's worth it. My daughter that got hurt said she would come back to, she's no quitter, as for my baby she's still over it!

I came here for a skate date and had a relatively good time. On Saturdays, the cost of admission for adults is $11 and an additional $7 for skate rentals. You must wear wrist guards, and fortunately, these are free. I would advise renting a locker for 25 cents if you have any loose items. Beware, some lockers were not so clean. So make sure you check before use. The skates are not in the best condition and are men's sizes. The rink can be best described as a giant blue mat with bumps and dips. I have a bit of PTSD after falling flat on my a** skating over one of these bumps once. Since then, I make sure to proceed with caution. I prefer the wooden rinks as they offer a smoother ride. There are some pros: the music and views of the Manhattan Skyline were the mains for me. It's not the worst skating rink and not the best either.

Review for Roller skating $9 admission, $8 skate rental 1 quarter for the lockers. They recycle the wrist guards so if you come early, they won't be sweaty yet. Shoes were really comfortable and run slightly larger. We came on Friday at 7pm for 80s night and there was surprisingly no wait at all. Better yet, there wasn't anyone on the floor either so for a beginner like me it was perfect for practicing with less stress. The earlier you come the longer you can skate for.

My family and I had a fantastic time here in May. The view! Omg! Amazing backdrop of the NYC skyline and the Statue of Liberty! The rink was a little crowded but it dies down quick. It was a bit chilly the night we went. Staff was ok. The music playlist could've used some attention. We were there about 2-3 hours, and managed to hear a few songs played multiple times. We will definitely go back again in the fall! Really puts the roller rinks in the Los Angeles area to shame. That being said, the rink floor could use a touch up. Good times tho!

The view of downtown Manhattan is magnificent.

Wonderful views of downtown Manhattan, Staten Island Ferry, and the Statue of Liberty. Today children and adults were roller skating at the outdoor roller rink to a artful mix of family friendly Top 40 music by a live Deejay. Benches are everywhere if you just choose to relax and take in the sights. Kayaking is available. Basketball courts are packed with ballers, young and old from all walks of life. Zumba classes sponsored by the Dodge YMCA is moving to the beat under the hot sun. What is there not to like?

To the right in the back are baby swings, and to the far left is a little grassy area under the trees. There are also two open cement areas in front of the restrooms, down a few steps, where children often play with balls or ride bikes and toys around. This playground has two distinctive features that make it stand out from other playgrounds: 1. The fountains, art sculptures, and mosaics that are the work of Julie Peppito[1]. They can seem whimsical or creepy depending on your artistic inclination: Gigantic fish with pudgy hands as tails and a duck on their head, with a human figure embedded in the duck; house-like metal sculptures with human features; large eye mosaics on the front wall of the bathroom. 2. The abandoned toys. Tons and tons of abandoned toys: Plastic bikes, excavators, toy houses, a spring horse, stuffed animals, cars, a scooter, push carts, etc... Most of these toys are broken, but the kids love them, and thanks to them your kid(s) will never get bored at this playground. This playground is well maintained, restrooms are open during normal hours, and the sprinklers have been on at all times during the summer months. Also, strategically located just a few blocks South is Gold Star Beer Counter[2], which is a great place for all beer lovers; after spending a few hours running after your kid(s) at this playground, you know you deserve a cold one. ------------------- [1] http://juliepeppito.com/new-page [2] http://goldstarbeercounter.com/

Reopening in 2019 after a two-year, $5 million reconstruction that was designed in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance[2], this playground has something for children of all ages: swings, two playground areas catering to little kids and older ones, two sets of sprinklers, four basketball courts, a fenced handball court, a small gym area, an open play area with synthetic turf, and a walking/running track. I like how this playground appeals to very different people: families with young children, kids playing basketball, skaters, fitness and training classes in the open play area[3], kids from local daycare centers, people working out, birthday and block parties, etc.. This playground is generally clean; perhaps cleaner than most playgrounds in Brooklyn I know. I also like how, unlike at other playgrounds in the area[4], the sprinklers at Stroud Playground were open all day every day throughout the summer. --------------------- [1] You can read more about Officer Stroud and the history of this playground here: https://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/stroud-playground/history [2] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cykj164ow_Y [3] Someone put two large truck tires here this past summer. Looked more like a museum or some nice walkway to enjoy sightseeing of the Williamsburg bridge and the lower east side views of Manhattan, which is not that spectacular in my opinion because there are too many government buildings in that section so it's all brown over on the Manhattan side. Oh wells. Other than that, I'm shocked to see nice bathrooms a block away from the park for Domino Park guests! The bathrooms were really nice and modern! Each bathroom had dimmed lighting with a baby diaper changing station. One of the bathrooms was dirty with pee on the floor so I had to go to another one. Did not expect these nice bathrooms to get dirty like that! There were more bathrooms downstairs besides the ones on the first floor. The door to the bathrooms was very nice too! What a great job they did to this park. I cannot believe the Domino sugar factory still exists or is standing because I used to take the train and they be doing construction for many years for I don't know what reason. Looked like they turn downstairs into this nice modern park. So I went to the park to go to a Target pop up and got some nice freebies. There was enough space for pop ups and large crowds. Need to check out the rest of the park next time I'm here. Too bad there is no subway or trains going to this park and you need to resort to buses that take forever to arrive.

Nested between the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Brooklyn Central Library, Mount Prospect Park is…read morethe second highest point in Brooklyn after Battle Hill inside the Green-Wood Cemetery. It fact, "It was used by the Continental Army in 1776 as a lookout point, which at that time offered strategic views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, New York harbor, a portion of New Jersey, Staten Island, and Long Island"[1]. Mount Prospect Park has something to offer for everyone: - If you have a dog, this is a dog-friendly park, with many dogs enjoying the large grassy area at the center. Keep in mind that the area is completely open. There are specific off-leash hours, and I found all dog owners who come to the park to be friendly and respectful. - If you like to run, there is a running route that goes all around the park, mainly shaded by wonderful tree, that covers 0.22 miles/0.36 km[2]. There are also some stairs that lead to the highest point in the park, that are also good for exercising. Another set of (steeper) stairs is near the second access point near the Brooklyn Public Library. - If you have young kids, there is a playground with two jungle gyms separated by a sprinklers area, plus an enclosed area with swings, and six concrete small tables with benches. There are a lot of mosquitoes, particularly tiger mosquitoes i.e. the ones that are active during the day, in the area near the benches around the fence. The main entrance by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden has no stairs, and its gentle incline is perfect if you have a stroller or bike. - If you have older kids, I have seen soccer games and other team sports (baseball, freesbee, etc...) or training sessions take place in the lawn at the center of the park. Keep in mind that the area is not completely covered in grass, and it can get dusty. The park seems to be generally understaffed (hence 4 stars instead of 5). The trash cans are not emptied daily, and the hours at which sprinklers are on during the summer, or when restrooms are open, seem to be totally random. While I find the dog owners and runners very respectful, some of the people who have birthday parties or other celebrations here tend to leave a lot of trash behind. Which is a shame, as this park is generally quiet, much less busy than nearby Prospect Park, and generally a great place to just relax and unwind. ----------------------- [1] https://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/mount-prospect-park/history [2] https://www.plotaroute.com/route/723847
