This place was great at first BUT the interactions with the employees made me change my opinion, they all had nasty attitudes and looked like they hated their jobs. before i interacted with the employees, i actually stated to my friend that i wanted to work here, but none of the workers even smiled once except for a birthday announcements for one of the staff. Came here to play laser tag for a friend's birthday with a group of 14. At first glance, I was underwhelmed by the props that they had as they seemed low-budget. However, I was shocked by how much fun I had here. You get your wristbands at the door which indicates the color of your party. The experience involves 3 rounds of game time and they rotate through the parties, announcing the color when it's your turn. We got really sweaty throughout the games so I'd recommend wearing dri-fit clothing and sneakers that you can run in. Each group gets a sectioned area with a table, seating, and a clothing rack so you can even bring clothing to change into if you don't want to stay in your sweaty clothes. One thing that did negatively impact our experience was the faulty guns. The reload button on some of our guns didn't work properly and required multiple clicks before it reloaded. This wasn't my favorite way to do Lazer tag but maybe I'm tied to my childhood memories of flashing lights, foggy areas, plush wall pillars and a worn out vest. You will get a work out here because you're running on a concrete area that's large enough to host a wedding. There's no fog, and it's not even covered in artificial darkness. It's dimly lit with red lights, a huge scoreboard and you can pretty much see....well...everyone. The guns aren't those plastic scanning looking machines but refurbished paintball guns so they're much heavier and it takes way more precision to hit a target. You have to aim for this black box on the top of your opponents gun and vice versus. You also have to bring your own food and drinks which is nice if you're planning a large gathering or party. I was winded and had to take a break at times.Sometimes the guns didn't work and you have to constantly run back to a safe area/zone to re-up on 'ammunition.' I think I prefer the traditional Lazer tag of the past. The guns are so realistic here. It was kinda odd seeing little children with, what looked pretty much like a machine gun/rifle, considering the times were in with gun violence. But I'm not a Debby downer. I get it! It's all in fun but I probably wouldn't go back. The experience was meh. The parking was hellish in that area. read more

As with so many things in life things we often the remember more fondly things from our youth. It turns out that Laser Tag is one of those things. As a child Laser Tag birthdays were the best thing in the world. As an adult, it seems a large dose of nostalgia and childlike energy helped with the positive memories Area 53 looks like they've inherited an abandoned basement that was unfinished and no one decided to clean up the giant clutter in it. While this is the intended effect for the laser tag game, the clutter and disrepair carries upstairs to the party area - several arcade games (pop a shot, an arcade cabinet, air hockey, foosball) all missing pieces or hastily taped together make the time between games rather dismal When not ruminating in the upstairs area, the actual games of laser tag can be pretty fun. That said, the overall course layout is way too large, especially if you're just a small group of less than 10 people total. Compound that with the entire course being on a concrete floor and you'll be feeling the soreness for days to come, and will be winded during the 15 minute matches. The referee/gamekeeper is pretty laid back when it comes to his job, halfheartedly letting us know when we could go back down to play another game and being more involved in his phone than paying customers. read more

Re rollerskating: This venue is really dangerous for skating. The concrete floor is uneven and the columns and barriers throughout make for unpredictable movements by other skaters. I fell here during a rollerskating night and dislocated and fractured my shoulder. I need surgery and am told I'll be lucky to even regain half my mobility. I've skated in many other places without any issues, but experienced life-changing damage at Area 53. read more

Spent my NYE afternoon here with a group of 8 friends, playing a good ol wholesome game of laser tag. What. a. workout! 2 days later and my legs are still sore from all that running/squatting. Maybe I'm just out of shape, but there was also A LOT of ground to cover between only 8 players. Overall, it was a fun time! Check-in process was seamless -- signed waivers on iPads, got wristbands, paid $37 per person. Inside the huge warehouse, the main upstairs level provides plenty of space to lounge around (sofas and tables), free wifi, bathrooms & water fountains, and offers other fun games like pop a shot, cornhole, Connect 4, etc. It also hangs over the actual laser tag field so you can take a peek at the current game in session when you're not playing. I have to mention that there was great ventilation / air flow - seemed a little chilly at first, but so necessary when everyone's sweating from the game! Lynn was a great host - very enthusiastic, personable and helpful to our group. We played three 15-minute rounds starting at 5pm -- the first 2 were 4 vs. 4, and we swapped bases for each round (the one in the far back is definitely better lol). The last round was the unlimited lives, free-for-all. As for the game itself, I would've liked having body targets instead of solely aiming for everyone else's guns... it was a bit too challenging for a beginner like myself. In addition, one of our players' gun seemed to have not been working (she kept getting killed, but couldn't kill others). We should've restarted the round with a new gun but didn't so our scoreboard was pretty inaccurate. Once again TikTok has convinced me to try something out, so my husband and I came here on my 26th birthday! However, I think we were a bit oversold on the idea of Area 53. To start, when we came inside, we were greeted with unenthusiastic staff members who looked like they would rather do anything else aside from their job. When we came inside, all of the activities looked extremely cramped together and somewhat dirty. Kids were running around everywhere, which is fine and even expected for a Saturday morning, although it looks like Area 53 is catered more towards 10-year-olds rather than adults. There were 2 jousting areas, although you had to be mindful of tons of kids running around everywhere. There were video/arcade games available, but it was disheartening to see you had to pay extra to play those and were not included in the base price. There were only 2 grimey ping pong tables available, so that felt quite limiting as well. On the more positive side, the zipline/ropes course was a hit! It was actually more exhilarating than I thought it would be. Some adults actually had to back out last minute due to their underestimation of fear of heights, so just keep this in mind! The roller skating was also great, although it was quite a small area, so it felt hard to fully enjoy it. Overall, we spent at least $100 just for the base price/base activities. We had fun just because we were with each other, although if you went with someone you're just getting to know, it could be kind of an expensive bust. read more

We loved the concept that in between the 15-minute games, you get a break cause girl, we be running out of breath! I also love the fact you can bring your own food and drinks (bring water!!!). We booked the private time slot and they gave us a lounge area to celebrate. The arena is huge and flat, so no inclines unless you include that little ramp. Lots of places to hide, but not enough for people to camp. It was a perfect sized place! Their equipment was good and very accurate. We played two team games and our last game was a free for all, which I highly suggest people to do. Only thing I should tell you is that the number they list is not reliable and you should just email them instead. They get back to you ASAP and answer all your questions. My husband and I went with our fourteen year old son who we thought would think is so lame going jsut with his parents .i loved the adventure of the ropes course and zipline and rock climbing. My son adored roller skating (and for five bucks a rental it was a steal.) Then we spent a good part of the time in arcades. many games were broken but the staff was AWESOME!! Mark at the harnesses was so sweet and encouraging ! Nia at the zipline was really nice and Chris and Kevin (one had a cool hat and one wore glasses and I'm writing this because one has an initial for his last name and you should know he was the roller skates guy..) helped out tremendously. Huge laser tag arena! Friendly tip, unless you want to engage in HIT training while trying to enjoy an eventful game of laser tag, bring a larger group. Not to say that we don't have any friends, BUT, we came with a party of 8 , and let me tell you, a 4v4 laser tag game in an arena fit for probably 15+ people... not the best idea. However, this was such an amazing place and fun time! You get outfitted with stylish vests and laser tag guns that use to be paintball guns to give you that real heavy weapon feel (but as our lovely instructor had said, resist the temptation to pistol whip someone =D). The field itself is huge with lots of places to hide, run, sprint, and shoot. They play some pretty decent music too as your running around. The games last about 15 mins then you get a quick break. Feel free to go back to the lounge and play some games, then your party is called back into action! I would come back and definitely recommend this to folks of all ages, whether your here for a kid bday party or an office event, Area 53 is the BEST! I came here for a birthday party for 2 hours. We got three sessions of 15 minutes each. The laser tag doesn't have identified weapons for teams, so you're just trying to remember faces of your team mates. The only target is your gun (not a vest) and some players hide the gun. The guns are sometimes faulty, and you lose "health" without getting shot. The staff guy just stared at his phone the whole time, not helpful. Easy to fall on slippery floor and no one to help you get up. Some laser obstacles are deflated and fall easily. The lights are very bright - easy for other team to see you. Finally, your "health" goes down very quickly and you have to go back to base often to get respawned. You spend most of your time at the base just trying to respawn. If I were in the area looking for fun I'd go to Beat the Bomb a block away. read more
