What a neat place for the kiddos to burn off some energy. Lots of different activities for all age groups, 12 and under I would say.

Arcade area (main level)
Amy V.

My girls, nieces, and nephews went to play on a rainy day. Ages ranged from 3-12 years of age. Something fun for all. Two levels with smaller age equipment/toys on the second floor. Main floor had computers, arcades, tumbling equipment, and several play sets. The only reason for 3 stars is due to the cleanliness. This place definitely needs some updating and cleaning.

Tables during open play

I've been here twice with my toddler. Once during weekday open play & once for her 2 year birthday party (paid for the 2nd floor). We had an enjoyable time during open play on the 2nd floor (basically deserted on a weekday around 2pm. They do have an after school program so it gets a bit busier then). Regarding the birthday party, we would definitely hold more parties here in the future and several of my friends who have kids said they wanted to have their kids' birthdays here as well. Pros Tons of fun stuff for kiddos to do (and even the adults were playing air hockey/skee ball) Mostly clean Great to have a fridge, sink, bathroom, tables & chairs on the 2nd floor Pretty good price for what you get (and you get to bring in your own food/cake) and a 2hr time slot Suggestions for Improvement The bathroom smelled like dirty diapers - they need to empty out the garbage bin more frequently The floor was kind of bulging up and although the owner (I think) was putting down some kind of tacks before our party, there were still a couple of bulging spots The cubbies look really yucky which I get from muddy shoes, etc. Maybe use a magic eraser once a month to really clean them up. Tips There are 30mins to set up your party while the last party is taking theirs down. The party before us had done 0 take down when their time ended (plus lots of kids running around). My mom and I spent 15min with cleaning wipes wiping down as much as we could (because it's winter and I don't want my kiddo and her friends to all get sick and I'm a bit of a germaphobe). By that time, the party before us had cleared out and a staff person had swept/washed the tables so we could decorate. I'd suggest 3 adults with no kids to do set up as we were really rushed with just 2 adults (unless you are ordering in pizzas and have minimal decorations). Book early if you want a specific date/time. We needed to work around nap and even booking 3 months out our preferred date was taken (but Sunday ended up working well).

Ramp at beginning of the Castle. Duct-taped shapes provide nice soft foot holds, but look like they need some TLC

Solid concept, flawed execution. I took my 3.5 and 2 year-old toddlers here recently. The kids seemed to enjoy themselves, but the more time I spent there, the more things I found needed addressing. PROS: * Something for everyone. They have board games, coloring books, various puzzles, play-doh, high chairs etc in the front. The play area has some large playground structures, push cars, climbing rope, and arcade games a la Chuckie Cheese. * At $5/kid it's on the cheaper side of the weekday kid activity options. Grown-ups are free. CONS: * As other have said, the equipment is showing some wear. Stuff looks bought second-hand at best. Everything from cotton-stuffed building blocks to mats on the floor to padding around swings relies on duct tape to maintain useability. * Things have gotten dirty. The floor is comprised of thin gym mats or large interlocking foam floor pieces. Dirt and scuff marks are obvious and everywhere. I was seriously tempted to fill a bucket with soapy bleach water and mop the floors myself. The climbing ropes have acquired dark colored film areas where people have held onto the ropes repeatedly. The room also has very poor ventilation and a gym locker room odor sort of develops when there are a lot of kids and grown-ups at play. * There's too much stuff out. They had push cars and tricycles out, but the only space to use them were the walkways. Goals were set-up for soccer, but the goals had a bunch of large balls in them and no space to play a soccer game. Tables were covered with activity books and board games and arts and crafts, but there wasn't room for putting down food and eating. I agree with Katie R in calling the place "meh." Your kids will likely think the place is pretty cool. You will likely want to bring a change of socks for everyone and keep an eye on whatever piece of equipment your kids are using in case it starts to break while they're on it.

The castle... my daughter's fave!!

We took my daughter here for the firs time this weekend and I am very happy we did! I have heard conflicting reviews, and I can see why....boy oh boy do they need to shut that place down for a week and clean and repair it. You can tell it's been well used/loved for a while, and yeah - it's dirty. However, I believe a little dirt and grime isn't the worst thing for a kid and our daughter had an absolute blast! For only $6 we were able to sit around and drink coffee, and watch her have the best time...there are not many places in Madison you can do that. We love the children's museum downtown, but it really bothers me that they charge for the adults to literally just supervise their children, it gets really expensive. We will definitely be back to check this place out again!

Fun climbing castle!

Wanted to try this place out with my little guy. Walked in no one was wearing masks- including the employee. Won't be going back.

We had a wonderful time renting out the 2nd floor space for my child's birthday. She turned 4. It was the perfect space!!

I initially wrote a review Fall 2011 and it was recently removed because I didn't come back to…read moredirectly update with "my first hand experience." Fair enough and my apologies for overlooking that by including my update in the Fit Fresh review. Hybrid shows real results via several ads that run in the WSJ. I was willing to pay the cost to join for those results in the time frame I had to complete. The bonus: I had a friend complete the program and although he's male (and men lose weight faster) I saw the same results in him and took his feedback to heart. So I was really excited to start the meal plan first and complete my bootcamp contract out then go over to Hybrid. My personal experience: The place appears to be clean and well kept. Hybrid Fitness apparently excutes the BCOR bootcamp committment in this area until someone else is able to handle the downtown/east/suburbian areas. I signed up with Bcor anticipating the start of my experience at the end of July 2012. Because of my previous experience and most recent email contact I decided this may not be smart to attend. I got unnerved after receiving a Yelp email that the Fit Fresh review received a response, but it was removed (no real issue there) + I received a harrasing message referring to my review via my inbox. So combine that inbox message with the removed message - call me smart to be nervous and suscipicous. Now, I'm over my fears of the Yelp stalker or at least the fears don't outweigh my hope in meeting my new deadline before having to report back to the unit. To that end, I'll report back in 90days how the workouts go.

Wife and I were in town for the CrossFit Games in Madison. We wanted a gym that, if we could…read moreactually find it, would be a "hybrid" between CrossFit and a regular gym. Holy crap we found it - literally - with Hybrid Athletic Club! Want to do CrossFit stuff with turf, sleds to push/pull, ropes (both hanging and battle), dead balls, wallballs, a rig, GHDs, rowers, you name it? Got it. Want to do standard bodybuilding with dumbbells, barbells, basic selectorized machines or regular cardio on ellipticals or treadmills or step mills or an air bike or ....? Got it! The two women who own it are super nice and it's obvious they are REALLY trying to do well by their members. In the mind blown category, as if what I already said isn't enough, one of the owners, who is OBVIOUSLY a MUCH better person than me, remembered my name from the previous day. Huh? Yep. She came over to me as I was foam rolling and said "Hi David" - think about that, I'm in town for three days, I'll never have a full on membership there due to where I live, and she remembered my name. Hell, I go to the LA Fitness 3x/week and I can't even get the counter person to say high when they are HOLDING the fob scanner 18 inches away from me! It gets even better. They are a 24/7 facility with fob access. So we got a fob, paid the very reasonable fee for our three days of use and we were all set - we could come and go as we pleased, any day or time we wanted. That's almost weird it's so good - since it wasn't a globo Anytime Fitness and the like. The 2nd day I saw something I've NEVER seen in my 33 years as a gym rat and probably NEVER will again. There was a CrossFit class going on AND there was figure/bodybuilding/physique posing clinic going on in other areas of the gym. Think about THAT - CrossFit and physique co-existing in the same building? Yep - and since I love both it was pretty freakin cool to see. We will definitely be back to this facility when we return next year - this is OUR gym while we're in town now. We just wish there was such a place in Springfield. If I had more than two thumbs I'd give it more than two thumbs up - same goes for the five stars.

If you take strength training seriously, this is the best gym in Madison. They have tons of…read moreequipment. Some of my favorite things they have that you dont see at every gym: weighted sled, bars made specifically for different lifts, micro plates, heavy clamps, the list goes on... Theyre never crowded (at least compared to Gold's Gym in Fitchburg). Ive waited for a bench to open up once and ive shared a deadlift platform a few times but thats it. The atmosphere is great too. They have dank lifting memes all over the place, a life-sized yoda replica, and a john cena cut out. They play loud metal and rap music all day too. The gym is 24 hours. If you come at odd hours, you might get the gym to yourself and have to let yourself in with a key fob. They dont have group fitness or a swimming pool though, so look elsewhere if you need those things. Also, if you get intimated easily by people who are stronger than you, maybe look somewhere else. Despite how strong and experienced most of the clients are, everybody ive met so far has been very friendly and helpful. I find the other lifters to be inspiring instead of intimidating, so i suggest you give Madtown Fitness a try if youre trying to take your strength to the next level.

I don't think I can say enough positive things about this place. I went to their new location on the east side so I am specifically mentioning that gym. Atmosphere- unreal. Perfect warehouse type gym that is extremely motivating for those that take fitness seriously. Staff- Dan, one of the owners, was very helpful and got us set up for the day immediately. He showed us how to use a few of the pieces of equipment as well since there are some machines that I have never seen before. This is a testament to the care that these people take in selecting equipment. Equipment- I have been to dozens of gyms since I travel for work and Madtown had the best selection of strength equipment I have ever seen. If you powerlift, bodybuild, or do any combination of the two this place is perfect. If you want to watch TV and walk on the treadmill, sit in a steam room, or have a pool the this place isn't for you. If I didn't live over an hour away I would have signed a life long contract here. Rates are reasonable and this is the first serious gym I have been to that gives access 24/7 while having 2 locations. Seriously check this place out if you want to make changes to your body.
