Wow. This place is really cool. After looking at some of the older reviews, I was a little skeptical but decided to try a place. Excellent place to play. For kids 10 and under. My son loves arcade, games, motorcycles, cars, Jurassic Park shooter games all of which are here and All are free with the price of entry. Superb. It's a little old and ratty. But I think it adds to the Charm. The snacks were ridiculous isn't cheap. I felt the need to leave a tip. Definitely recommend coming to this place & spending money. not a place we wanna lose. This place is bombed out gross and sufficiently dangerous. The kids may have some fun but germs are the real winners here. Look, this place is cheap but you might only get half what you pay for. The entire thing is cobbled together with copious amounts of grit, grime and duct tape. There's no apparent supervision. There's no apparent capacity limit (it was outrageously busy) for kids of seemingly all ages blended into a nightmarish cacophony of motion and explosive emotion. There's strangely placed swing sets, there's a random arsenal of nerf weapons, there's plenty of half busted machines, there's barriers and obstructions of all kinds preventing parents from keeping up with the smaller faster kiddos - btw, watch out for the rope swings which are directly in front of the main walk way of the play space - I witnessed a kiddo get bonked out. I was told by another patron that you can host a bday party for free if it's not a private booking. Which would explain the 3 congruent birthday parties going on. It was madness. I'm shaking off the anxiety still and I may have nightmares of my experience. I'm so happy that my 4 year old only sustained one jump kick to the head and not anything more severe. My girls, nieces, and nephews went to play on a rainy day. Ages ranged from 3-12 years of age. Something fun for all. Two levels with smaller age equipment/toys on the second floor. Main floor had computers, arcades, tumbling equipment, and several play sets. The only reason for 3 stars is due to the cleanliness. This place definitely needs some updating and cleaning. read more

Not impressed. The establishment was filthy from the play equipment to the bathrooms. The play areas included caved in couches to sit on and a lots of fabric seating... I don't think this place has been cleaned in ages. The play areas also included matted down and visible dirty old stuffed animals. Many of the climbing structures had layers and layers of glue with duct tape. Will not be going back...fingers crossed my child doesn't get sick from this place. read more

I've been here twice with my toddler. Once during weekday open play & once for her 2 year birthday party (paid for the 2nd floor). We had an enjoyable time during open play on the 2nd floor (basically deserted on a weekday around 2pm. They do have an after school program so it gets a bit busier then). Regarding the birthday party, we would definitely hold more parties here in the future and several of my friends who have kids said they wanted to have their kids' birthdays here as well. Pros Tons of fun stuff for kiddos to do (and even the adults were playing air hockey/skee ball) Mostly clean Great to have a fridge, sink, bathroom, tables & chairs on the 2nd floor Pretty good price for what you get (and you get to bring in your own food/cake) and a 2hr time slot Suggestions for Improvement The bathroom smelled like dirty diapers - they need to empty out the garbage bin more frequently The floor was kind of bulging up and although the owner (I think) was putting down some kind of tacks before our party, there were still a couple of bulging spots The cubbies look really yucky which I get from muddy shoes, etc. Maybe use a magic eraser once a month to really clean them up. Tips There are 30mins to set up your party while the last party is taking theirs down. The party before us had done 0 take down when their time ended (plus lots of kids running around). My mom and I spent 15min with cleaning wipes wiping down as much as we could (because it's winter and I don't want my kiddo and her friends to all get sick and I'm a bit of a germaphobe). By that time, the party before us had cleared out and a staff person had swept/washed the tables so we could decorate. I'd suggest 3 adults with no kids to do set up as we were really rushed with just 2 adults (unless you are ordering in pizzas and have minimal decorations). Book early if you want a specific date/time. We needed to work around nap and even booking 3 months out our preferred date was taken (but Sunday ended up working well). read more

Solid concept, flawed execution. I took my 3.5 and 2 year-old toddlers here recently. The kids seemed to enjoy themselves, but the more time I spent there, the more things I found needed addressing. PROS: * Something for everyone. They have board games, coloring books, various puzzles, play-doh, high chairs etc in the front. The play area has some large playground structures, push cars, climbing rope, and arcade games a la Chuckie Cheese. * At $5/kid it's on the cheaper side of the weekday kid activity options. Grown-ups are free. CONS: * As other have said, the equipment is showing some wear. Stuff looks bought second-hand at best. Everything from cotton-stuffed building blocks to mats on the floor to padding around swings relies on duct tape to maintain useability. * Things have gotten dirty. The floor is comprised of thin gym mats or large interlocking foam floor pieces. Dirt and scuff marks are obvious and everywhere. I was seriously tempted to fill a bucket with soapy bleach water and mop the floors myself. The climbing ropes have acquired dark colored film areas where people have held onto the ropes repeatedly. The room also has very poor ventilation and a gym locker room odor sort of develops when there are a lot of kids and grown-ups at play. * There's too much stuff out. They had push cars and tricycles out, but the only space to use them were the walkways. Goals were set-up for soccer, but the goals had a bunch of large balls in them and no space to play a soccer game. Tables were covered with activity books and board games and arts and crafts, but there wasn't room for putting down food and eating. I agree with Katie R in calling the place "meh." Your kids will likely think the place is pretty cool. You will likely want to bring a change of socks for everyone and keep an eye on whatever piece of equipment your kids are using in case it starts to break while they're on it. read more

We took my daughter here for the firs time this weekend and I am very happy we did! I have heard conflicting reviews, and I can see why....boy oh boy do they need to shut that place down for a week and clean and repair it. You can tell it's been well used/loved for a while, and yeah - it's dirty. However, I believe a little dirt and grime isn't the worst thing for a kid and our daughter had an absolute blast! For only $6 we were able to sit around and drink coffee, and watch her have the best time...there are not many places in Madison you can do that. We love the children's museum downtown, but it really bothers me that they charge for the adults to literally just supervise their children, it gets really expensive. This is a great inexpensive way for kids to burn off some energy. For $6, your child gets to play for two hours. We took our 16 month old, and she had a blast. The upper level is for young children. They have a slide, swings, carousel, tons of arcade games set to free play, large mats to jump or climb on, lots of toys, etc. The lower level looks like fun for older kids. Kids can climb a big platform and jump down into mats. There are ropes, so kids can swing from one cushy pillar to another. There in a huge rope net, so kids can climb vertically. You have to take your shoes off, and there are cubbies to store your personal belongings. read more

By far, the best place to host a kid's birthday party in the Madison. We've done at least half a dozen parties here as a family. Very nice, helpful and thoughtful staff, the most reasonably priced option in town. And you can bring in whatever you want for food and drink (including beer!) and they don't charge you by the kid for private parties. Our kid got so sick on the day of her party -- we had to cancel. I can't say enough about how understanding and accommodating the ownership was. Pro Tip - Legacy is popular for parties. Reserve WAY in advance in you want a weekend slot. Pros: Very nice place to take kids to run wild and free. Cons: the place can get too wild because there is no type of structure. Parents sit on the sidelines while kids damage things, push each other, and bully ( i had to stop 2 incidents of bullying that i noticed). Took my 8 year-old nephew here this past weekend. He liked it, but I could tell he was disappointed when something was broken or not working properly. This place is kinda in rough shape, with lots of duct tape holding things together. A lot of the machines don't work, and the place is a little dirty. The lone employee at the front desk wasn't terribly friendly and just sat there the entire time. Kids, of course, don't really notice as much as adults do. My nephew had a good time, but a combination of it's poor location and rough shape will prevent me from taking any of my nephews back anytime soon. I'd say this would be a good option for any child age 5-8. The open gym price was only $5, so it's a pretty good value. If you are looking for something new and have a couples hours to kill, it's a decent option. I'd probably rate this place closer to a 2.5. My nephew would probably give it 4 stars. read more

Our first visit here for or son's 11th birthday party and everyone had a blast. There's so much to do for all ages. My son loved the jumping platform, swinging rope, basketball game, etc. The gentleman running the place was very friendly and accommodating. Honestly not sure how this place is open. Went here for a birthday party. The whole place just seems dangerous. Upstairs there is a refrigerator and kitchen area with exposed wiring, tons of "stuff" just ducked taped around and no supervision. I was honestly worried about my son breaking a leg while jumping from 2 high platforms, one upstairs and one down. Still pretty dirty and over not safe looking. Older reviews are spot on about cleanliness, wear of equipment, safety and someone also mentioned inspections, I am also wondering about this because I cannot imagine them passing. Kids absolutely love the place and it definitely wears them out. I'm less than fond of it. It always seems cluttered and dirty and so many things are falling apart. Although my last visit there it seemed slightly improved. They have a nice variety of activities for kids to do. You could definitely spend hours there with the kids and they would be completely occupied. On the weekends it gets really busy and chaotic. Can be a bit dangerous for younger ones. The upstairs is great and is suppose to be for kids 5 and under. It's a wonderful place to escape the chaos and there is a lot to do upstairs as well. This past visit they weren't monitoring it very well and there were a lot of older kids upstairs which made it too difficult for the younger ones to play. read more

The owner is super responsive, which is important. He responds to email inquiries the same day, often within an hour! My son enjoys going there when school is out. With school ending and summer being upon us, I was pretty ecstatic when I heard about Legacy Academy. At just $6 for 2 hours of play, it is a great value. There are tons arcade type games like SkiBall, basketball, etc as well as huge play structures and ropes to swing from. There are two levels, with the upstairs being geared toward younger kids (probably age 5 and under). My daughter happily played for the full two hours, without ever saying she was bored or that she wanted to leave. There were plenty of kids to play with on the day that we went. And even the adults had fun! I could definitely see doing a party here next year for my daughter's 7th birthday. The only downside is that some of the games are run down, or don't work exactly right. There also is no real flow to either level, as it just seems they just randomly placed things here and there until the room was full. But, again, for $6 it's a ton of fun and we have made it a weekly stop for us. read more

One of the worse places to do business with, so my boyfriend had been thinking about going with this place for his son's 1st birthday party so he called made a reservation initially but after doing some more searching he decided to just go with another place. So we call them back and let them know we would like to cancel the reservation as well as get our money back because they make you put a deposit down when you make the reservation initially. Well the man on the phone tells us no we can't cancel the reservation nor can we get our money back so from that point onwards I got completely pissed off and went off on him and he ended up saying he would give me my money back but to not do that again like excuse me you don't have to worry about any of that because I won't be doing business with you all. read more

The upper level is for younger kids with swing set, jumping mats, and some unlimited arcade games. I was expecting some "themed" areas but it's more of a fun zone and honestly kids don't care about themed rooms. For six bucks I can take my kid there and he has a blast. I really appreciated how the two co-workers were constantly picking up toys, watching the kids, and switching up the music. I came to legacy today with my 3 and 5 year old kids and we started our visit upstairs. My kids wanted to play downstairs which is all ages but there were so many big kids I was ran into, pushed and had a football thrown at my head. My children were being trampled on as well so I took my kids back upstairs and as I was passing the manager or owner he said, "keep those kids upstairs where they are supposed to be." If the downstairs is all ages, why was this comment made to me or necessary as I was taking my children back upstairs. Why is it acceptable for there to be no supervision of any of the older children and I am told to keep my children someplace. Why am I the one being scolded?? This is my second horrible experience here and I am truly disgusted at the level of rudeness and unprofessionalism from the staff and lack of safety read more

In a word... sketchy. The kids enjoyed it, but largely because they don't care about safety. I'm amazed that there haven't been more problems. The biggest concern was all the climbing equipment that clearly had not been well thought out or carefully assembled. There were chairs up in the climbing platform, perfect to sit on and go tumbling off the platform. I ended up moving one down, thinking a parent had put them up there. Not long after an employee came through and put the chair back up on the platform. We also noticed one of the swing sets had loose hardware, so loose that the entire thing moved around on each back and forth of the swing. On closure inspection I noticed one of the carabiners holding the swing was one of those cheap aluminum keychains printed with "not for climbing". I mentioned it to the owner, who just said "That's what came with the set". Yeah right. Overall this place is a good idea, just not well implemented. Sure the kids enjoy it, but they'd also enjoy getting the keys to my car. read more

Seriously the most fun place to take kids. My girls are 3 and 8 months (free admission!!) They have just about every type of toy you can imagine... rope swings, tree forts, foam gym blocks, video games, bikes and arcade games take up a good part of the space, but there are also board games, play dough, legs, pool tables and on and on and on. We went to the Parents' Night Out on Friday, 6-10 they have a drop off program, the kids can run around like crazy like they always do, play on the equipment and with games and toys, then the ones that want to watch a video vote on which one to watch, and the play a video in the media room. They said they have a large selection of kids movies, my girl couldn't tell me what they played as she was too busy climbing around like crazy. They serve them pizza & soda or juice & some kind of sweet treat, a popsicle or ice cream. I'd be overjoyed if they offered healthier food, we'd probably go every Friday. But even with tasty junk food, as an occasional treat thing it's great! The staff seemed really friendly, my kid said she enjoyed herself and can't wait to go back, well worth the money. read more

This place once again met our expectations! Turnover from the previous party was on time and the cleaning was taken care of. My son enjoyed having his birthday bash here, so did his guests. Kids get to do it whatever they wanted from playing in the pit or video games (free). Our host was very attentive, whenever we needed him he was always there. If there was one bad thing I can say is that you might have some kids ( 1-2) from the party upstairs invading your first floor party, I didn't mind it as long as they didn't disrupt our party ( again it was only two kids). Parking is always available you won't have to go out and search for parking. As for our next party, it'll probably be at legacy academy! Legacy Academy is a fully equipped 6,000 square foot indoor playground and gymnasium for active (and less active) kids who want to run around and go crazy climbing, jumping, running, etc or just chill out and relax. There are two padded activity floors, a Rainbow Castle Playset, a tire swing, a jumping tower & landing pit, three swing sets, climbing ropes, a climbing net & wall, gymnastics tumbling mats, regulation & kiddie basketball hoops, and other play equipment. They also have various table & computer games, two large screen Nintendo Wii consoles, a Lego play table, and old and new videos for less active kids. Children can bring their own lunch and enjoy a popsicle or ice cream. The staff is really outgoing and seem to genuinely enjoy kids. This is a wonderfully affordable option for working parents who can't stay home when their kids' teachers have in-service days. Also great for birthday parties and other special events although snack choices could be healthier. Located in Fitchburg near Market Square theatre. I am super unhappy with this place right now. I literally sent an email yesterday (Sunday 01/02)to let them know I was interested in a spot that I saw was open on the website. I receive an e-mail back today (Monday 01/03) at 10:30am to let me know the spot is open I need to make a down payment of fifty percent to hold it. Okay cool all I have to do is email him my credit card number. I am at work right now and busy. TWO hours later I receive another e-mail to let me know that spot has now been booked to another party. I mean WHAT, I felt like I was in the middle of a transaction and it got pulled away from me.
