We were very disappointed in our experience at Legacy Academy. When looking for a daycare for my son, I toured this school twice and thought I loved everything about it - it was clean and up to date, had a great curriculum, and was midline when it came to price. There was no real question in my mind when we decided to enroll. When we arrived for our first day (which had been "on the books" for a month), they were totally unprepared - there was no bin or drawer set up for him in the classroom, no name on the door or a crib for him, and the teachers seemed frazzled and overwhelmed. That afternoon when I went to pick him up, he was sitting in the middle of the floor by himself, crying. We frequently observed that many of our items - especially clothing - ending up in the wrong bins at least once a week, and even once my husband unwittingly brought home a trashbag containing a "blowout" outfit from another baby - gross! We had labeled the clothes as requested, but that did not seem to help. Even though the school advertises that they are NAEYC-certified, we observed on several occasions that they did not adhere to the 4:1 student-teacher ratio advertised. When my husband brought it up to the staff, he was reminded that "GA law says 6:1." In addition, in the mornings when there was only one instructor in the infant room and too many students, they REGULARLY LEFT THE CLASSROOM DOOR OPEN. Once when we were dropping off, I actually saw the teacher looking around for one of the babies - she thought he had walked out of the room "again"! Also, on our tours, I had asked on two separate occasions if glass bottles were permitted. I was told by the director that they were. In their paperwork, the school specifies plastic - so I asked again and was once more told that glass was okay. One day, a "mass message" was sent out to parents over their app saying "As it says in our handbook, no glass bottles are permitted... Effective immediately, parents who bring in glass bottles will be sent home with them." I understand the rule and the need to enforce it, however - we were the only family with glass bottles. I would have also appreciated a personal conversation and maybe even a "mea culpa" for telling us initially that they were allowed. We had to go out that night and purchase new plastic bottles to use - some notice, maybe a weekend, would have been nice. The final straw, however, came with school pictures. I observed as the director actively engaged with the little girl before my son (from an older class) in an effort to get her to smile. When it came time for our turn, she walked away. Worse than that, when he fell off of a prop they were using, face-forward onto the concrete, scraping up his face, she didn't even come over to see if he was okay!!! (Reminder: my son is an *infant* - so this is a big deal.) She actually didn't even acknowledge that anything had happened at all! It wasn't until the next day, when I went up to the desk and asked if she had seen what happened (through the bidding of one of his teachers, who pointed out to me that this was absolutely something that we should be concerned about), that she acknowledged the incident and said she would speak to the photographer about changing their set up next time. The teachers are not bad, but I believe that they are overwhelmed. And the staff isn't very friendly - any time we walked in, the front desk was either unoccupied or the staff would barely bother to say hello to us (though I will say that this improved a bit in the last month or so that we were there). It's also worth noting that over his time at this school, my son developed an aversion to having his diaper changed - he would scream and thrash around and try to flip over whenever we put him on the changing table. After three weeks away from Legacy, that behavior has completely stopped. After four months at Legacy, I can say I wouldn't recommend this school to any parent who wants their child to be in a calm, nurturing daycare environment. read more

I recommend Legacy Academy because it's a fun and loving place for kids to learn and grow. I was the GA Pre-k teacher last year and I truly enjoyed my time at legacy. The school provides a lot of fun extra curricular activities and family events. The most exciting ones for me are the fall festival, thanksgiving celebration and field day! My son joined the GA Pre-K program this past fall and we absolutely love this school!! The school and the teachers are just amazing!! I was really worried about how my preschooler was going to take to Preschool ( He has never been in a school setting ) and I am so happy we chose " Legacy Academy" ! I'm surprised to see a few unhappy reviews from parents re: Legacy although I suppose that's supposed to be expected for any business. There is always someone that isn't happy for some reason. That said, those reviews seem to be older so I thought I'd share a more current review. Our now five-year old daughter began attending Legacy in the midst of the 2020 pandemic when she was four. This year she is in their Georgia Pre-K program. Prior to attending Legacy she attended other pre-schools including East Cobb Prep and Wood Acres. Our expectations are quite high. Every day without fail when her dad or I pick her up from Legacy and ask her how her day was she responds with an enthusiastic "Great!" or "I love school!". I enjoy hearing the stories she has to share about the lessons she's learning about self-hygiene, the planet, the weather, animals, holidays and rituals, or any number of subjects. She thoroughly enjoys learning and loves her play time with friends. She likes her teachers very much and is happy to return to school each morning. If she's happy and learning, we are happy. Legacy uses the Brightwheel app and shares pictures and messages with parents throughout the week giving us real-time glimpses into what's taking place inside the classroom which is nice. They communicate out a monthly newsletter with messages/reminders, themes for the upcoming weeks, the lunch breakfast/lunch menu for the month, etc. The Director of the center has been easy and nice to work with and has done a really good job of making sure everything is as it should be. They offer great themed camp-like alternatives in the summer weeks if you just need care for a week or two here or there in between vacations and other plans. Legacy is newer, bright, and clean. The outdoor playground and splash pads are one of my daughter's favorite things to look forward to. I recommend taking some of these other reviews with a grain of salt and checking this place out for yourself. Every family has different requirements, expectations, and needs and this place might just fit the bill for what your child/family are looking for. read more

Would not recommend... teachers are over worked and Under appreciated! I worked 50plus hours weeks and was still treated badly. I know I sound like a bitter teacher but that is far from the truth. I wanted to take a moment to make a recommendation for Legacy Academy of Roswell. Our 3.5 year old son was at a different school in the area. The school was very crowded and didn't provide the best atmosphere for a very "energetic" little boy. We met with the administrators at Legacy and absolutely fell in love with the school. The school is still brand new (newly constructed) so the teacher to student ratio is still very low, leading to some great individual time with the kids! The building itself is amazing. When you walk in, there are windows that ring the entire interior of the building so that you get a great sense of space. There is a dedicated cafeteria in the center of the building with a full time chef! Chef Phyllis learns each child individually and their likes and dislikes. The rooms are huge, bright and colorful. The school is ringed by playgrounds geared for different age groups as well as covered play areas for days that are not conducive to outdoor play. There's also a sprinkler park where the kids can play in the water during the hot summer days. Since arriving at this school, our son has excelled in not only social but verbal skills. The teachers and administrators take time with him individually and know how to handle kids who love to explore. We are looking forward to our son's exposure to Spanish, Mandarin and Karate...all included in the cost of tuition. And the tuition is actually LOWER than what we were paying for a school in the same vicinity. I really love this place and the staff is super friendly. I was looking for a afterschool program for my son so that I could return to work after being laid off due to COVID. It was also very difficult to find childcare during these times. I called Legacy Academy and they welcomed my son with open arms. They were my saving grace because if they had not accepted him, I would not have been able to start my new job. I am so thankful and my son Kai loves this place. read more

I also wanted to share a more current review. We have both our 2 year old and now 5 year old at Legacy and they have adjusted really well. Legacy has a smaller feel than some of the big chain daycares. My 5 year old literally wants to go early every day because she is so happy there. They do a lot of science projects and the teacher is just really engaged and fun for them; they have a great bond. I feel like the communication is open and we are listened to. I not only get photos but also videos, which I didn't get at the previous daycare. We are happy here and my 5 year old will be coming back for the after school program! I also love that they let the 2 girls see each other during the day. It may be because it's post Covid but since joining Legacy, they really embrace that they have a sibling there and I love that. It has been 3.5 years and I still regret placing my son at this school. It was a new school in 2016 so the cleanliness and feel of the facility was what I based my decision on. He attended when he was 4 months old beginning February 2016 until around August 2016. We received about 1 photograph a week and no real feedback. After moving him out, I came to realize how much more feedback, daily photographs, interaction, is typically provided from other daycares. I should have reported several incidences, however, I'm not confrontational and I give the benefit of the doubt to most situations. To all the parents out there, especially first time parent(s) like myself, ALWAYS go with your gut instinct. As crazy as it seems, on one occasion, I was picking up my son and when I walked into entrance, I could smell gas in the air and I asked the girl at the front desk is she could too. She decided to go check in the kitchen and confirmed that the stove gas was slightly on....ummmm ok, good thing a flick of a lightswitch didn't cause an explosion. Another incident, the handwritten daily report stated that my son had drank all three bottles of his milk, however, when emptying out his school bag to wash his bottles, there was a full, untouched, bottle of milk. I questioned it the next day and the teacher basically blamed another teacher for not giving it to him....my 6 month old missed a feeding somewhere throughout the day....awesome! And the last straw, they gave my kid, who had an ear infection, a bottle in his crib which is a big no no. I brought this to the owners attention by calling her after I dropped him off and she said, "we don't do that!"....problem is, I caught the teacher red handed the day before and that is why I took this approach. I also stated to the owner that she should check the videos in the classroom, however, I assume are useless and just for show to make the place seem 'advanced'. A great sign to see if a school is good, it to review the baby/kids turnover rate. My son started when there were only 6 kids in the class. Within the 6 months he was there, most of the babies were gone. Keep in mind, most babies/kids are at the same daycare for several years. read more

My daughter attended Legacy for about 3 weeks when she was 5 months old. It was not the right fit for us. While the facility is clean and bright and absolutely beautiful and the director was very sweet, we did not have a positive experience with my daughter's teachers. Overall, we were disappointed in the lack of energy and engagement in the classroom, and the lack of transparency into what they were doing all day. A few examples...I literally did not once ever see a teacher on the floor engaging with a child. I didn't see a child being read to, sung to, played with, at all. We found that no matter what time of day I picked my daughter up, she was consistently in the same bouncy seat, and other kids were in similar equipment or seated in the table. I inquired about tummy time or floor time at all, and was told they couldn't do it bc some kids were learning to walk and they were worried about tripping (no mention of moving those kids up a classroom). When I picked my daughter up and asked how her day was, I never got any details beyond what her diapers had been like. No comments about if she had a happy day, a bad day, how she did with her solids, which toys she played with, anything. We were supposed to receive daily photo updates, and went an entire week with just one photo. I never worried about my daughter's safety but left every day feeling like something was off. Before pulling my daughter, I had a conversation about my concerns with the director. She reassured me that she would talk to her teachers about sending more photos and letting me know how my daughter was doing, but that didn't happen. After another week, we switched to another daycare, and have seen a world of difference. Her teachers are engaged, bright, creative. They spend the entire day on the floor with the kids. She gets in hours of tummy time (no swings or bouncy chairs) despite the fact that there are kids who are starting to walk. She does art projects every day, has music once a week, and we get anywhere from 5-9 photos every day. When I pick her up, the entire staff is brimming with stories about her day. A couple of weeks ago my daughter began attending Legacy Academy, which recently opened in about September 2015. The school has done a fantastic job helping her transition from another local day care/preschool. In fact, with their help we have gotten our daughter off the pacifier, which is a feat in itself! The brand new school is exceptional with many play stations and a central lunch room. They have a certified chef who prepares healthy breakfasts and lunches. I've been very impressed with the class teacher, to whom my daughter quickly became attached, and the rest of the staff, including Director Sam and Assistant Director Dianne.
