From the beginning, I was very clear that I was in excellent health and was approaching this proactively ​-- not urgently​ -- and that I still needed essential information before I could finalize anything. Unfortunately, despite this clarity, at exactly the one-year mark from my initial conversation with her, I found myself repeatedly pressured to finalize and sign draft documents that were incomplete and inaccurate. One example: a provision in the will assigned $24,000 each for the care of my two pets ​-- ten times the amount I had instructed. I pointed this out multiple times in writing and even spoke to Jennifer directly by phone, where she assured me she was correcting it "in real time" during the call. Yet the error remained in every subsequent draft. The larger concern, however, was the overall tone and approach that developed. Jennifer and her assistant worked as a tag team, pushing forward with a signing schedule despite my telling them that the documents were incomplete and, in some cases, inaccurate. In one meeting, Jennifer strongly criticized me in front of my financial advisor for "taking too long," even though I had made it clear from the start that my draft was incomplete. To make matters worse, this advisor was new to my team, making the comment especially cringeworthy, inappropriate, and unprofessional in my view. Additionally, Jennifer provided names of Trust Services companies I could consider as executors but repeatedly emphasized their supposed inconsistency and unreliability, noting that she was considering offering trust services through her own firm. When I spoke with the trust company I ultimately chose, they were very interested to learn this. In my view, it is concerning when an attorney plants seeds of doubt about other professionals in the field, especially when positioning themselves as the more reliable alternative. Writing a will is a highly personal, detailed process that requires trust, patience, and care. It is not something to be rushed when a client has been clear they are not ready. Since transitioning to a different estate attorney, I've experienced a much more respectful, patient, and collaborative process. I'm deeply grateful for the difference. If you are a client who wants to move at your own pace, ensure every detail is correct, and be treated as a true partner in the process, I would advise caution when considering Jennifer's services. She may be better suited to clients who are ready to sign within a short timeframe and who prefer a faster-paced, attorney-directed process. I take no pleasure in leaving a one-star review, but I believe it's important to share my experience candidly so others can make an informed decision when selecting an estate attorney.

As individuals with little prior knowledge of estate planning, we were seeking legal counsel that would help us understand what these documents do, why they are important, and how they would apply to our specific circumstances. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of those expectations. Our only direct consultation with Anita lasted approximately 30 minutes. During that meeting, we explained our goals and the recommendation from our financial advisor to create an estate plan. However, we received very little guidance regarding the available options or the implications of different estate planning strategies tailored to us. Much of the discussion relied on legal terminology that was difficult for non-lawyers to understand, and we often felt we were being asked to determine what we needed rather than being guided through the decision-making process. Following that initial meeting, we were unable to have any additional conversations with Anita. All communication occurred through email, which made it difficult to address questions that could have been resolved in a brief phone call. As a result, simple issues often led to lengthy email exchanges and significant delays, most often with other people from her office. The inability to discuss questions directly created frustration and extended the overall timeline unnecessarily. We were also disappointed by the quality control of the documents and overall process. We identified multiple errors that required correction, including misspelled names and incorrect information related to our designated secondary power of attorney. Because of these issues, we felt compelled to carefully review every document line by line to ensure accuracy. Additionally, despite communicating with the office regarding extensions and document timing, we continued to receive automated reminders that did not appear to reflect the status of our matter, creating further confusion. The estate planning documents themselves appeared highly standardized and included provisions that were not clearly relevant to our circumstances. While we understand that many estate planning documents use standard forms and language, we did not feel that the final product reflected a high degree of customization or individualized legal counseling. I want to acknowledge that the staff members we communicated with were generally courteous and responsive. However, the overall experience left us with the impression that matters referred through the ARAG legal plan were being handled as a high-volume process rather than as individualized legal engagements requiring attorney guidance and consultation. Ultimately, while we achieved the goal of completing our estate planning documents, the process was far more difficult and time-consuming than expected. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this attorney to individuals who are seeking substantial guidance, education, and ongoing attorney accessibility throughout the estate planning process.

A few hours later--the documents were ready! He thoroughly reviewed with me how best to use the corporation. He also offered advice on a business idea. I recently attended a real estate workshop that suggested certain language for setting up a corporation to best protect your assets.
