Yes, there are a handful of interactive areas for kids ranging from "shoot the mammoth" to a separate play area in a section that looks as if you'd lived 100 years ago.

One of my favorite things there is the annual Beaux Cadeaux fine craft show during the holiday season. The spacious museum has three exhibiting halls, so it can accommodate three shows at one time and the staff is very friendly and helpful. TAM also has a room for kids to explore and learn (though temporarily closed for Covid) and has periodic family days when families can do hands on art projects.

This particular exhibit, featuring "Contemporary textile artists Lynne Rigby, Rosemary Ravsten and the group Artists with a Common Thread," was very interesting. The artwork is all made from fabric. I especially like Rosemary Ravsten--a pst resident of Idaho Falls who now lives in Seattle. Her piece entitled "Angel," made from frayed silk, was beautiful. The Eagle Rock Art Museum is a nice little building with three large exhibit halls featuring high ceilings and exceptional lighting. It's no MoMA, but it's a great cultural center in Idaho Falls, and if you're a supporter of the arts, it's the perfect place to frequent.

The volunteers who run the museum are friendly, full of information, and very knowledgeable about this museum and the surrounding areas. It features information about local celebrities. Such as Ardis Fisher who wrote "Mountain Man". The book was turned into the movie "Jeremiah Johnson". Fun facts about Jefferson County. The first TV tube, early pre-electric era, and early electric-era items are also on display. Many Indian artifacts which were unearthed during the early years of Rigby are here to be seen. It also tells about several doctors that made home visits back in the day. I remember those days when doctors came to your home. 14,000 square feet. There are pictures of the surrounding areas and who used to own what before it was purchased and subdivided. Lots of local history and information. Needless to say, this museum is not very big but it really is a must-see. Plus it is on the way to Heise Hot Springs or Swimming Pool, Rexburg, Jackson Hole Wy., Yellowstone National Park, or Grand Teton National Park. Allow at least 1=2 hour for viewing. Keep in mind, it is split up into eras and rooms. Cost is $1.00 for children and $2.00 per adult. Please keep in mind this is the History of Rigby and Jefferson County. Being from the local area and a retired homeschooler I highly recommend this historic museum. Small museums like these are often overlooked but contain way more than you expect or realize.

HOWEVER, it is worth the time if you have the slightest interest. This is a small, volunteer run museum, feature local pioneer and celebrity history. THE celebrity is Philo Farnsworth, born in Idaho and inventor of the Television. HE is actually extremely interesting and the docents at the museum are experts on all of his work. He was a self taught physicist and engineer AND he invented HUNDREDS of things before his untimely death in 1972. Perhaps even more important, for yours truly in particular, he invented the incubator - saving the lives of millions of future babies, (me!)

It's much smaller than Kids Town, but for my little two year old that was good thing. I was able to hang out in a corner and was able to keep an eye on her the entire time. The price ($4 per kid, no charge for adults) is much more reasonable than Kids Town as well. My kiddo got bored a bit sooner than she would have at Kids Town, but again, not necessarily a bad thing. We spent about 2hrs there and I was certainly ready to go by the time she was. There are a few improvements I would suggest to make this a slightly better experience: 1) There simply MUST be some kind of change with the flooring transition between the "building" room, which is elevated about 3 inches, and the main floor. The flooring is the same color and it's very hard for little kiddos to recognize the drop off. A simple and effective fix would be to put yellow duct tape along the ledge. 2) it needs more (and more comfortable) grown up seating. A great idea would be to add padded benches so kiddos didn't bump their heads on corners 3) It would be really nice to have some kind of climbing/sliding section. A higher end Step2 or Little Tikes climber/slide would do the trick. Just something to help get the wiggles out. At the end of the day though, it's a great addition to Rexburg and we will definitely be going back soon and often.

My mom was on the side keeping him from tipping because it's also angled slightly when you first start to go up. It would probably have taken only two people if the floor was smooth but it kept getting caught on the "rock like" grooves. If he was by himself, he wouldn't have been able to get through any of it. I think it's a positive thing, that it's so centered on the younger kids! I especially appreciate that it is as quiet as possible--no blaring noise from loudspeakers going on, just the noise of children happily playing. I also appreciate that it's not commercialized with lots of Disney characters or other kids' celebrities. Their castle is whatever the child wants it to be--not just a Disney castle. Overall a great place for little ones when it's too hot, windy or cold to go to a park.
