This school is the worst! The fashion teacher at this school has been verbally abusive to many students! she made it so uncomfortable for my child and many others to even come to her class. I cant believe how much she got away with because everyone was to scared to come forward! As for some of the other teachers many will not reply to a single email the entire school year, a few were nice and caring. I get me some food and ask my teacher can I finish it in her class because I didn't have all the time at lunch she's going to accuse me of leaving campus and then say no. Can we please update the school calendar online here. It is from 2022, we are in 2023. Also parents do appreciate how the last dance the prices kept changing everyday for those dance tickets, seems a bit fishy and there seems to be a lot of pocketing money going around in schools and government offices. It is ridiculous that we as parents will get constant calls about surveys but there was barely a mention on the school dance and how the prices changed. Also it is January and my child JUST received their gym clothes even though we had paid months prior, never had to pay for gym clothes at previous schools either which is another concern. If we are paying for some hot would be nice to receive when the kids beed it not half way through the school year. Jmust another great reason to get the heck out of las Vegas. Really disappointing. Do not expect any answers if you go into the office to ask questions no one knows anything, they did not even know how much the school dance tickets were, I mean my god what an embarrassment. I attended Legacy High from 2009-2013. Parents and incoming students alike should be extremely cautious when attending this... "school". Just a few points to consider: (please especially consider the academics/course selection one) 1. MAINTENANCE. Right off the bat the school is beyond ugly itself. Super depressing vibe and feels like you're in a prison. Maintenance was nowhere to be found. Everything always felt dirty and unclean. The mens restrooms always stunk of marijuana and had half-empty beer bottles floating around in the toilets (and to students: nothing wrong with doing weed but please don't take it with you into the restrooms. Just f*cking rude and uncourteous. Do it on your time and at your own place). I don't even want to begin to imagine what the girls' bathroom must have looked like. Not to mention the SAFETY concerns that other reviewers have already commented on. FUN FACT: at least 3 staff have been arrested for sexually-related crimes in the past 5 years and one for kidnapping! YIPPEE! 2. ADMIN. The staff is incompetent and lazy at BEST. The counselors are not only useless but very arrogant and condescending. Just there to make you feel dumb and hopeless. My counselor in particular (won't name names but her initials are VA) was extremely snotty and unhelpful. Also bland and possesses zero personality. When I asked her for college career advice during my senior year she simply told me to "go to their website" and basically figure it out on my own. During my first three years the counselors never reached out to me, except to enroll me in my courses for the following year. I thought the whole point of the counselor was to personally guide and assist you in going from HS to college. Guess she read the wrong job description when applying for the job. The rest of the staff are a mixed bag. Some of the teachers are great (especially the science teachers), others are just plain s*it. If you're a future student, cross your fingers and hope to God you don't get the s*it ones. It'll be a year of hell for sure. The math teachers were ESPECIALLY bad. If you suck at math BE SURE to get a tutor because you will definitely struggle. The people who monitor the halls and "keep things in order" are also super annoying and not to mention pretentious. It's as if they think they're cops or naval officers just because they get to patrol the school for a few hours. What bravery. 3. POLICY. School has some pretty stupid rules (ie the ridiculous tardy policy), but most of them are enforced by CCSD so you can't really fault the school itself. Virtually all schools in the world have stupid rules like these anyway. 4. ACADEMICS AND COURSE SELECTION. Probably the most important thing to consider, of course. The school operates on a block schedule which I personally liked because you have the chance of taking more classes throughout your HS career. However, in terms of course offerings the school is super lackluster. Minimal options for AP/Honors and language classes (ironic for a "Global studies" school). Personally didn't feel any sense of academic enrichment or development during my time here. If you're looking to take higher level courses, this may not be the school for you, unless you're satisfied with their limited options. BEWARE: school is always annoyingly changing its course catalog/offerings every year, so be on the look-out. One year they'll have AP Bio, the next year they WON'T. They're not steady at all. Again: heed my warning. ***** ALL INCOMING FRESHMEN: Take that last point into serious consideration. Trust me, you do NOT want to mess HS up. You WILL regret it if you do, because it'll be much harder for you when you get to college/Uni. Picking the wrong school could cost you heavy in the future. I will say that since my departure from this s*ithole, it HAS expanded its curriculum and seems to have improved its courses (from what I've heard, anyway) but I would still proceed with caution before registering. I only went here because my niece and nephew are going here. Number one reason is because it is literally right next the gated community I live in. If you hop over the fence, you are at school already! The building itself is modern and has that new building smell still lingering. Based on what my niece and nephew tell me, they love going there! This year we had to enroll our sophomore into a new school. We were open to having him attend any school in this town but in the end decided to go with the one we were zoned for as they had classes of interest like guitar and theater. We were hesitant due to reviews we had read elsewhere. At the end of the day we remembered that every person has their own experience and is able to create it for themselves by focusing on the good. We are so glad we chose this school. There are teachers there like Ms. Miner, Mr. Jesperson, Mr. Bisceglia and Mr. Levanger that really engage the kids and care about what sparks that interest and passion in life. My kid didn't want to go to a new school and make all new friends...but we did the best thing before the school year which was sending him to CSL camp (www.lasvegascsl.org) where kids can spend a week making new friends in a spiritually based environment, reminded just how great they are and do things like forgiveness work, showing love and compassion and more....can I say he came home a changed kid, ready to start in a new school, with a new attitude of hope and excitement. It was the best decision we made and he went from a kid that had grades like C's D's & F's to a kid with majority A's and a few B's! On a personal note, our kid is part of the LGBTQ community and thankfully Ms. Burke was the icing on the cake. Her afterschool club is wonderful! my son transferring to this school this week from Centennial High school due to we bought a home in the beautiful gated community next to it. We walked around the school recently to get the fill of the place. Beautiful school. Can't wait to meet the counselors and administration people when we register today. I hope there's no problem with this school regarding gang activities within students like some other schools. At first, the school year was alright, but things took a sudden turn for the worse. Before the end of 2015, I was constantly annoyed by classmates in two of my classes (in which I have the same teacher and room) and my teacher would defend them and punish me without any good reason, which would happen until Summer began. To make matters worse, in February of 2016, I got punched and the assailant and his friends claimed that I tried attacking first and, therefore, got ME suspended. The worst part was that the dean didn't believe me and instead sided with my attackers. Overall, the school is not very good and I feel that it should be shut down for poor service/management and for bullying directed against me by BOTH students AND adults. It is hard to believe that people actually enjoy this school. Also, it was SO BAD that my friend Jon Dixon moved to San Clementi, California, during Spring Break '16 because of how awful and useless this school was. Do not take any children to this school.
