Lied Middle School demonstrated a complete failure of leadership and accountability. I raised serious concerns regarding my child and received no response whatsoever from the principal. Not acknowledgment. Not follow-up. Not even the courtesy of a reply. When school leadership chooses silence over action, it sends a clear message about priorities. Because the principal failed to respond, I was forced to escalate the matter to the superintendent, a step that should never be required for a parent advocating for their child. The lack of communication, urgency, and responsibility shown in this situation reflects a broader problem with administrative leadership. Parents should be deeply concerned about how issues are handled when they arise and whether school leadership is willing to do its job. I was a student there but it was too much for me so i had to leave cause the kids made it to the point where i would go home and have mental issues and it wasn't healthy and the teachers did NOTHING at all. It was hard leaving but it was worth it. The teachers or the students i have NO words at all for... Current student here, the school it self is okay, the administration is not to good, school day is 1 hour longer than a normal CCSD middle school, the lunch is decent it honestly varies on personal preferences, teachers are decent depends on your classes, the school enforces unimportant rules like wearing your ID all day long, staying outside of the cafeteria when not eating, and is just very controlling after some time, principal favorites athlete students over others. Other than those reasons, the school is decent 2/5 would not recommend. read more

I'm an eighth grader here and I am so glad this is my last year, there are only a few of the staff I even like, and I get blamed by other staff for things I never did. Like last year I got called into the office for "skipping school" even though I was there on the day they suspected I did and they wanted to suspend me for a week for something I didn't do, I'm just lucky I wasn't. But the thing is my friends who actually DID skip school and got caught just got let off with a warning, no suspension no consequence. So I almost got suspended and they would've been let off with a warning. This school system is absolutely stupid I would not recommend it. read more

This school seriously worsened my trust in any school. I'm a student of Lied Stem Academy, and some of the teachers and staff they hire is questionable at best. The water pressure in all the water fountains in this school is still insanely low and they have put no effort into fixing it. A lot of the teachers abuse their power by giving many students "refocus forms", and sometimes it's not even fair. They have a "refocus nav time" too, and they'll put anyone they want in there for anything. My friend threw a paper ball like two feet and he was put in there. The principal is a jack ass as well. At the assembly, he said that he decided to take off the 11th of November because we were doing "so well", even though that was a lie and that day had a federal holiday and school had to be off that day, adding on to that, my friend who is an eighth-grader who has their assembly last, when school ended, he said that "the bell doesn't dismiss you, I do" which is stupid, because if the bell doesn't dismiss anyone, then what does it even do, and some students have the bus to catch, so they could've missed the bus. Overall, this school has made some incredibly questionable choices. Whatever you do, don't go here. read more

This school is hell for not only my son but me as well. The staff is friendly to your face but will literally lie about situations that take place with your child and deem them necessary for automatic suspensions instead of working with students who have issues. The teachers had a meeting with me and attempted to ininsinuate my son possibly was not intelligent enough for this school and I laughed and told her to look up all his past map testing scores and she sat there surprised, I said yeah my son is smarter than probably all of us sitting here right now, then she was speechless since he is advanced. I liked this school for 6th grade but this year has been horrible, if you have a child who has adhd and some issues with mentally staying on track I would highly recommend somewhere else, they will act like they are helping you and your child but they will use it against them in the end and make sure they don't return the next year with dishing out multiple rpc's to ensure they have a paper trail which i was told by the principal face to face. The principal is way too strict and comes off like a drill Sargent so I've read and heard about with other students not just mine. This school has become a joke, the kids are all unruly and don't listen to staff, they cuss and do dumb things and when told not to the students ignore the staff, which I was told last year by the counselor. Considering many of the students are this waway now it seems to be a target on my sons back for any little thing he does is an automatic rpc, which I was also told by principal but a staff member today. I would highly recommend another school before you think about this and leave this one as a second choice! read more

We have found Lied to be adequate our 6th grade year. If you have a child who is advanced and excited to be academically challenged after limited opportunities in elementary school (GATE only), please be aware that Lied has all students take advanced classes regardless of their abilities. Advanced for all is advanced for none. The only core class with placement based on ability is Math where a double advanced option is available to students who qualify for it and are interested in the academic challenge. In comparison, our zoned middle school offers many of the same STEM classes as electives or clubs, and in addition to Math placements, also places students in Science and ELA classes at their learning level. If you're applying for Lied in hopes that your advanced student will be around other advanced learners who need to be challenged, just know that they will be placed with all students for ELA and Science. You lose one of the major perks of middle school with Lied's policy. read more

Worst school ever! A year ago my daughter got dress coded. My daughter is short with long arms, i remember it was going to be in the high 90's. Vegas heat is terrible so i got her some appropriate shorts that perfectly covered her. As soon as i dropped her off mrs williams ( a staff there) yelled at her along with another staff. My daughter says girls from dance, cheer, drill team come in with booty short but since mrs williams knows them she says "oh cute shorts girl" when they are tremendously short. My daughters friends went through the same things. This inccident is repeated constantly and the principal doesn't seem to care. Mr thorson is nothing but a grumpy old man. Not at all friendly. When walking past him he will yell about ID's and is always telling people to get to their classes while screaming in their faces. Tardy lockouts are what get me! My son has P.E and they got let out at 9:30. He has to get from the gym all the way across the school in 2 minutes. He doesn't talk much so he speed walks to all his classes. He got caught in a tardy lockout. 2 minutes to get from the gym to the end of the school. Insane!!! Mr thorson yelled in their faces again calling them stupid. When he entered his class his teacher was nothing but a grump again. These staff!!! She doesn't explain what to work on but instead stops talking when she feels like it. She constantly says "oh well im not gonna explain because i know none of you even care" my son cares and still doesn't get taught by this teacher. Her name is mrs stellato. This happened a year ago and im glas my kids are out of this prison of a school. Please do not send your children here. read more

I have twins in 7th grade at Lied. We love this school. The teachers have been communicative and seem invested in kids' growth. Social life has been great for both of my kids. School was way better last year. The new principal this year treats students horribly and is way strict. As a student from lied, I do not recommend this school. Teachers here are mean, and this one male teacher is super creepy, especially to girls in my grade. He bothers nearly any girl in his class and he doesn't find anything wrong with it. If you know who im talking about, he's a 7th grade english teacher. Yes, he's been reported before, but yet the school has done nothing about it. I have never been more disappointed in a school. My son entered middle school this year, and we turned down spots at two other schools to go to Lied. I have never had a school that has been worse with communication. They have been on a lock down, and sent me a message stating my child is not in his last class. No one ever returns a call or an email. In fact, it took 3 times to get ahold of his assigned counselor to discuss issues with lack of communication from the teacher. Then, cherry on the top, today my son informed us when we picked him up that he is not in the Spring Concert for orchestra, but there has been zero communication from his teacher EXCEPT telling us less than a week ago that he needs to be there at 5:15. My son has always been in GATE and his worst grade prior to this school was a B. They say your child can make up any grades, but the teachers do not input grades until right before the cutoff, and put the entire grading period in at one time. I am happy to say, he was offered a spot at another school, and I am JUMPING at it to leave this bad experience. I am quite sad to say that the normal public school that he attended for elementary school far exceed this magnet school in every aspect. read more

This is the worst place you can send your kids bullying isn't taken seriously and the staff are rude and abrasive

Once, another student gave me a concussion at the school by shoving me into a concrete trash can. The school didn't do much about it, and wouldn't even tell me who did it. The new principal also violates building codes by cramming students into the cafeteria which is built for less students than there are at the school, which isn't even necessary because students are usually allowed to eat outside, but the principal will often temporarily BAN eating outside. The reason? The administrators don't properly discipline kids who make large messes outside when eating. The only true good thing about this school are some (not all) of the teachers being very good, and advanced learning programs. read more

Some teachers I have/had are fine. it's the fact that students can be stupid. School shooting threats, fights, all I have came across in 6th grade. Also, Goguardian. It's probably in every school but it sucks that some websites that seem like they have information I need are blocked for some reason. They have blocked genres on YouTube so most of the not educational videos are blocked. That just teaches the students to use their phones more. I saw a bunch of people in my class have their phones on their chromebook to the teacher couldn't see. A certain teacher grade technique was super bad that it made me get straight Cs all the school year and when the end of semester exam came I past with a B. The lied stem academy experience is just below average, and only good teachers and friends carry the school year. read more

I dont recommend this school at all. Administrators are a joke. My son was tripped because a boy shoved him at PE causing him to fall and shatter his watch. I called the school and was told the Assistant Principal would be calling me a week goes by and nothing. I go up to the school And speak with someone and my son told her what happen. and because he used the word tripped after saying the boy shoved him I get a call from a random saying the Assistant Principal talked to him and he said he tripped. complete lie she never even spoke to my son or me about what happen. And the PE teacher didnt even care that my son got shoved and fell on her watch. She just told him to file a report......And they wonder why kids fight in school because Administrators like these dont stand up and protect our children at all just smile in our faces. And now I have to pay $250 to get my sons watch fixed even though it wasnt his fault, but i bet if that was a chromebook that got broken they would be sending home a bill to me and not the other child....smh read more

This school is not that good, parents think it's a good school because it's a STEM school but teachers don't really teach you anything not to mention how the teachers act. If you know a certain 7th grade science teacher she is so rude and is always in a hurry when it comes to assignments. As a student who experienced that class she called me out when I was watching a video we were SUPPOSED TO WATCH, she told me to get moving. And another problem is the students, some of the students are just flat out rude and 4% of the students at this school can do something that is just borderline disrespectful and misbehaving. Now let's take a second to look at just a few positive things about this school, some students and teachers are really kind and helpful and really chill and there is also other teachers who want you to do good in life and succeed. Now back to the bad stuff, let's talk about the subs. The subs at are school tell you what to do but you could go on your phone a they would not care. The bathrooms are just disgusting. People full on just pee and don't flush and write stuff on the walls like a dummy. Then we got the food in class, students always eat in class and leave crumbs everywhere for students to pick up (especially gum). Last year was not any better then this year. There were a group of students starting a riot on Black Lives Matter and they were holding a pride flag. which made no sense. And the students are also so dramatic. Now if your 1 of these students don't take it personal but these people just annoy me. The students that say they wanna kill themselves. Now part of the students that say this kind of stuff maybe have stuff going on in their life but the other part of the students that say this just want attention or something. Then the last thing I wanna mention is the bullying and racism. The students at this school make fun of people for being a certain skin color or a certain race. And then there are others that just use there race to be annoying like some students who just speak Spanish for no reason and think they're funny when it's not funny. Overall this school has its ups and downs but in my opinion I don't recommend this school, if your a parent and you wanna send you child to this school I would read the reviews at this school and rethink your decision. read more
