DONT DO IT! Live anywhere else. The Degree is definitely better than The Legacy, but it's honestly not by much. The Legacy is ridiculously unsafe, which is crazy considering it's literally right next to UNLV. The gate is almost always broken, so anyone can come in whenever they want. I got lucky and nothing ever happened to my apartment, but multiple neighbors had their apartments broken into, cars stolen, money and other belongings stolen, and one person was even stalked. You'll constantly see homeless people digging through the dumpsters and smoking in the laundry room, there are roaches, the bathrooms are always breaking and maintenance only throws on a temporary fix instead of actually fixing the problem, and the AC is constantly having issues because the apartments are so old and run down. The leasing office is honestly useless most of the time they never seem to know what's going on, nobody gives the same answer, and they're no help when you actually have a problem. Save yourself the headache and spend the extra couple hundred dollars to live at Echo, The U, or honestly anywhere else. It's 100% worth paying more to avoid dealing with everything that comes with living here. read more

This Legacy leasing apartments is the worst company ever. This place is the worst place to live at and would never have my worst enemy to live in. There were so many issues that weren't resolved and have asked to be solved multiples times but was NEGLECTED. First of the living conditions were horrible, there were bug everywhere, roaches, and BED BUGS, and still didn't have the sense of urgency for it to be resolved not until I had to keep asking over and over again. There isn't a proper secure system for the doors. It's just one lock. They unlawfully towed my car on May 4th, and the leasing managers did not even know about it. It is extremely frustrating that I have to waste my time and money for something that isn't my fault. What was the point of me putting in my car information if it was going to get towed unlawfully. I submitted a work order and got sent an email that it was completed when it was never done it the first place. This place is the WORST. They do NOTHING to help you. If I can give this place ZERO stars I will happily do so. I can not wait till I get out of this place. read more

No, the thermostat never works and there are roaches that you just can't get rid of. There is also a weird smell that lingers. Mold growing in the bathroom and maintenance not doing anything. I never had anyone over in the year I lived here because it was genuinely so embarrassing. Extremely dangerous area. Felt unsafe walking to my car parked outside sometimes. There would be fights in the cul de sac. No type of security what so ever. My apartment got over 100 degrees multiple times. I lived at this property for three years. This review is long but please save yourself the trouble of this place and read till the end. I used to work for the UNLV housing dept, and while it's not perfect, I can't emphasize enough that any caring parent needs to put their kid in a campus dorm over any housing run by UDistrict/Cardinal Management. The change of ownership from Asset Living to Cardinal took a bad complex and made it even worse. The mold, mildew, and roaches are there to stay. They're never going to invest in Legacy because they use profits from it to pay off their Degree complex, which is also poorly maintained. April of my second year there(under Cardinal Mgmt), after filing multiple maintenance requests for a non-working toilet(in a 2bd 1 bath unit) and it being "patched", the main plumbing line collapsed, flooding our unit and the one next to us with raw sewage. The leasing office doesn't open until 10am(PARENTS, the dorms always have an adult staffer AND student staff easily accessible on call, in addition to one live-in res life coordinator in each building), and at 9:45am we knocked on the office door(while our apartment was still actively flooding with sewage) only to have the manager Sonny frustratedly scold us for knocking on the door, not even curious as to why we might need help 15 minutes before they open. When we told him the situation, he asked if we'd completed a work order(if there are human feces leaking into your carpet without signs of stopping, I think we're well past the standard work order...) and kept saying "well what do you want ME to do". He essentially told us that there's nothing he can do and that maintenance would give it a look. Mind you, this isn't a student worker. This is a paid professional that cannot give you concise information or offer a plan of action. After maintenance eventually saw how bad it was(raw sewage had saturated the carpet in the rooms by that point), one of the STUDENT WORKERS(Sonny had stopped speaking with us at this point) was able to find us a vacant unit and transfer our lease there. The unit we were moved to was otherwise just like the first and matched every description already mentioned in other 1 star reviews. Huge roach problem, but they live in the walls so extermination is just a band-aid. AC doesn't work well in heat because the walls are poorly insulated and full of asbestos and they're too cheap to overhaul the buildings. Mold and mildew are all in the bathroom because the tub and toilet are not properly sealed and water leaks beneath the flooring, which is not vinyl plank, but is a sheet of vinyl with a printed wood pattern, because the floor isn't level enough to allow for plank flooring. Constant car break-ins, because they do not make sure their streets are lit. Eventually you get worn down because as a resident if you want change you have to beg the few adults in the office to do their jobs, if they're even there. Get to know your neighbors, because they're the only hope of a safety net you might get here. They upped our rent to where it would be about $1200/mo(2bd 1bth). We signed three years ago at $860/mo, and the buildings have only continued to degrade. There are zero amenities in or out of the unit, and somehow residents are still paying for WASH(company) washer and dryer use, even though UNLV campus housing, who also uses WASH, was able to advocate for residents and make their laundry free to use, without changing companies and has done this since 2017... The location isn't ideal either, as you can hear planes from the nearby airport nearly 24/7. read more

Updating this review because on 07/16/23 the temperature in Las Vegas reached 115. After my air conditioning stopped working and the temperature inside my apartment reached 80 degrees, I had to call maintenance before it got too hot. I have them a call on the emergency maintenance line (which specifically includes non functional air conditioning in 84+ degree weather) only to be told that not only is the air conditioning not capable of cooling the apartment below 79 degrees when it's this hot out, but that if my apartment doesn't cool down in three hours, to give them a call so that they can come in the next morning to repair it. My ac broke almost a week ago and by Nevada state law it should have been fixed within 48 hours so now legally I'm allowed to relocate and withhold my rent. This has been a huge hassle for me. The older property/units (Legacy LV) is open to homeless people and unsafe. As I write this, the nearest laundry room has been taken over by a homeless person who has broken the motion sensor light so as to hide there at night. Last year it was a service closet the other side of my unit (exterior wall) that someone had broken into and was living in. My own car has been vandalized twice, and homeless people go through the bins every night and harass you as soon as it gets dark. The campus police try, but they are always fighting a losing battle because it is at best them chasing the people away who come right back 2 hours later. 0/10 if you have a teenage daughter. I even had a girlfriend who refused to move in with me because she felt it was so unsafe. This honestly reminds me of when I lived in Silverlake/Hollywood area - with bars up to the 2nd floor. Except there are none here. I even had a homeless person walk into my living room when the door was open (on the 2nd floor!) asking if the unit "was for rent". I've seen this sketchy bum for the last year and he's well known to the residents. And, yes, I lock my door - I only had it open because I was moving boxes from my old unit. Door open for FIVE minutes, some bum in my living room... The issue is that they need a gate around the property, or at least to the corner, to make it hard to sneak into the property. As well as at least a few fake cameras. As it is, there is nothing to stop them from entering the property and no sense of security or surveillance at all to make them even pause what they are doing. Security aside, the place is a solid 3-4. But the security issues worry me more than when I lived in Hollywood. read more

An update - did not renew this year. New management, terrible changes. 1 - Rent increased by 30% in one year. "Market rate" adjustments. For students, no less. The first 5 years I was here, rents increased a few dollars a month, per room. There were discounts for current people to re-up their lease. Then new management and 30% increase all at once. Not a single thing done to upgrade the units - just increased rents across the board. 2 - $200 combined application fee. This was not the case in the past and it could be waived for continuing renters. Again, this now applies to every lease you sign, even when you re-sign as a current resident. 3 - Zero input on where and how you are placed, no ability to preview the room. This is not the normal "see a place before you rent it" that is common with all other rentals. Move-in is August 15, move-out is August 1. If you switch apartments for any reason, you need to move out for two weeks before you can move back in. (yes, move twice) They eat those two weeks of rent as well, for "cleaning". It is all but impossible to stay during those 2 weeks unless you plan ahead and re-lease within your first 30 days(!!!). If you miss that brief window, your "spot" has already been assigned to someone else. They will contact you to ask you if you intend to stay, but by that time, you'll be in a new unit - cannot stay where you currently are. This means moving out, getting a storage place, and living for two weeks with friends. Before you move back in in the 110 degree heat. This is again, not your typical rental experience designed to keep tenants long-term. 4 - Piles of hidden fees and everything is now through their payment portal. I have one computer, barely cook, have all of the lights as LEDs, and still utilities doubled in one month after the change. Management changed away from NV Energy and I can no longer get a detailed break-down. We also have to pay charges for almost everything, processing fees, and so on. I have to walk a paper check to the office to avoid this. Absolutely everything they can get away with has a fee or charge to it. Again, this is the new management. 5 - Beware of move-in costs! They require two months rent up-front (future July/August) and a very large rent deposit. $1000 in my case. Move-in costs now are effectively 3 months rent plus application fees. TL;DR: New management has massively inflated rent and new hidden charges are everywhere. No longer a good value for the money. read more

Its hard to figure out where to start with this hell hole. I am from the east coast and didn't know much about the city and didn't have to have luxury living experience while I am here for 2 years. I found this place was a reasonable price and was somewhat associated with the school, so I thought it couldn't be that bad. But wow was I mistaken, first problem would be my roommate, When applying to live here you fill out a survey to what your ideal roommate would be and I didn't have any crazy request. Just to be clean and respectful, lets just say none of that has happened. This also came along with other people living there that was not supposed to be there for multiple weeks (this also includes children). When brought up to management I was told to wait it out and maybe things would get better, if they didn't I was told I could moved to another unit and still have to pay. I no longer could take the crying children all the times and the nasty apartment, I moved and having to living somewhere and stilling having to pay. But lets say you move here and get a better roommate, well you are not out of the woods yet. Upon the first time walking in, the whole apartment smelled like mold and mildew . My bathroom sink was already clogged without me even using it one time. The carpet in the bedroom was NASTY and matted. The floor in the rest of the apartment looked like it has never been cleaned correctly. The walls had holes that were patched horribly and the ceiling was yellow and peeling in places. On to the kitchen, the cabinets felt like they were going to fall off the wall with the doors that would not close or would close corked. The oven would sometimes work and sometimes it wouldn't. The burners on the top is gross and old and 3 out of the 4 was very corked. The fridge looks like it fell off a truck then was put into the apartment (also not a full size). Also to add all the outlets in the apartments was upside down and really lose. Every time I plugged something in it would fall out. Not to mention I was on the bottom floor and it sounded like the people above me was going to fall through the celiling all hours of the night. Lets say you want to wash your clothes, because they do have on site laundry rooms. Well you have to walk around the grounds just to find one that works. After finding one its either filled with other peoples clothes or covered in dog and cat hair and trash and that fills the room. The grounds lives up to the expectations of the apartment with dog poop every where you look. Not to mention the trash that is always flying around and never seems to be picked up. This also comes along with the town of homeless people that is constantly walking around day and night looking in cars and digging through the dumpsters. This is how it all around campus. When the grounds people do decide to spruce things up they start with very loud machines around 7 in the morning and go all day long. As far as management they do not care as long as you are paying on time. They act like you are interrupting them every time I ask a question. (I have only spoken to them 3 times). If I was to redo this whole experience I would spend the extra money to live away from the campus and not waste any more money here. P.S you may be confused by the really good comments and the really bad ones. Listen to the bad, they give away prices and goodies so they can get good reviews. For some low budget type of student housing, I don't think there is any 4 star or 5 star possible anyway. One needs to be realistic and know that Vegas does have a lot of beat up apartments like this. I think 3 stars would have been the maximum possible objective rating this apartment could receive... if the upkeep had been done a bit better. Upon move-in for my kid, saw missing fly screens and a roach. First thing we did upon move-in was fumigating the whole unit with some off-the-shelf RAID. After almost two years, I'm returning to yelp to say this apartment is an absolute S*** hole. I am so glad I am finally moving out. I've been living in this apartment complex for two years and my experience here has been awful. Management is beyond awful. If you have a concern, good luck getting a hold of management! I feel bad for the students in the leasing office. It seems like they're just there as place holders but when you really have some concerns about your unit, it will be nearly impossible to reach out to the property manager. Ever since I've lived here, gate security has always been a concern. I don't understand why I would pay extra money a month for gate security when the gates are hardly ever working! They're constantly wide open for just anyone to come in. I've watched people (I'm presuming homeless) dig through garbage bins outside of our unit. The area isn't the nicest as it's right behind a different apartment community. I've spoken to numerous people that have had break ins due to the lack of gate security. I feel especially bad for the students in the phase 2 apartments with no gates. The only plus side is low rent and convenient parking. The property also has a huge bug problem, especially issues with roaches. Maintenance will take a while to service you as well. If you can afford to, AVOID LEGACY LV AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

Hello, I am very sad to write this update since MONTHS ago Legacy contacted me about my bad review. In order to get me to update my review, they told me they would be returning the money they wrongfully took from me(due to someone else living in my apartment YET they still collected rent from me). Sadly, I have yet to seen the check that was at first, supposed to come in 10-15 business days, now I was told it should come by the 4th (which it has not). I have not heard anything about my check or any type of response to my past two emails about it. As a student, Legacy let me down, which is why Im updating my review so maybe someone will actually listen and try to fix this mess. Legacy LV has some nice perks, but it has some cons to it as well. The pros are the staff is EXTREMELY helpful and eager to help. Its located technically on campus so it makes the walk to class easy. Its also considered extremely inexpensive. The apartment itself is simply okay. It won't knock off your socks, but for the price its acceptable. My room's closet is big enough for all my clothes, so no complaints there. The cons are LAUNDRY. You have to purchase a laundry card and its expensive here, about $2.50 a load. Roaches. Unfortunately, despite them spraying it every week or so, roaches are still a problem during the summer/fall semester. I currently live in a 3x2, and the kitchen is only meant for one person. Any more and its impossible to do anything. The walls are thin and you can hear everything your roommate is listening too. You can also hear cars drive by and people conversing, and that has woken me up sometimes. Mail is a hassle because you have to walk outside of your apartment to get it, and packages are delivered to the office at times and held there for you to go and get. Overall, its not a bad apartment for the price, and its definitely 'good'. My best advice would be to tour the place and get a feel for it yourself. read more

I'm leaving this review again because I believe they deleted my previous one. Legacy LV is a joke. I lived here two years ago, my apartment flooded whenever it rained. My car was broken into multiple times. I had a roommate move out after a bad falling out and I ended up finding out they let her keep the key the whole time. I was a young girl living by myself that is so unsafe and as soon as I found out (once a new roommate was moving in MONTHS later) I freak out (obviously) and they changed the locks. This is not okay and they should have changed the locks as soon as she moved out. I could go on and on about how the staff also tried to rip me off of my security deposit and two months rent, but overall this place is not safe. Do not let your child move here read more

Our toilet gas also flooded all our floors in the middle of the night repeatedly happens. Maintenance keeps tryna play me and my roommate saying we are just repeatedly flushing toilet paper and he is trying to tell us after its fix to put no more toilet paper in there after? Like then how am I and my roommate supposed to poop then. As well when it floods the neighbors aboves us when the flush there stuff comes right out of our toilet. Also a very bad roach infestation at these apartments. They dont clean it before you move in like they are supposed too. They Have terrible internet provider and it goes out multiple times a day and the gate and clicker most lf the time dont even work. My daughter is about to return her apartment keys after living here for a year. This has been the worst experience for her as well as for us. Poor management, dirty, filthy, infested of roaches, they sent the exterminator 3 times during this year and roaches keep coming back, bad parking area, hight rent, poor laundry facilities, please go somewhere else and don't sign a lease here if you don't want to be miserable for a whole year. I have lived in this apartment complex since January 2018, which has given me enough time to create a thorough review of the living conditions. First of all, if you're used to nice amenities and a cleanly courtyard, then you will not find those luxuries here. My neighbors leave trash in front of their apartment and dry their clothes on the staircase rails. Disgusting! Every morning, beer cans and socks greet me at my front door. Mind you, money was never the issue, I actually believed this housing choice was wise, now I am left disappointed and confused. I made a complaint about a week ago about coming into my apartment and it smelling like cannabis. I do not smoke, I have never smoked, and I despise the smell of marijuana. Nonetheless, I received a letter on my door reminding me of the no tolerance rule for marijuana consumption. Hello!!! I am the person that made the complaint. The walls are so thin and the ventilation is a joke. Overall, the sole purpose of my husband and I moving here was for university, we graduate in Spring 2019. Otherwise, I would've stayed living in Centennial Hills for the rest of my time in Las Vegas. If you're looking for a place to move and you're used to living in a nice apartment that is actually renovated, then this is not the place for you. OH and the only plus about this place is that if you make a service request, they'll address the issue. However, I believe the office communication skills are lacking because I should have never received a letter reminding me of the drug policy. Big cracks everywhere, they have no drainage so it makes your apartment smell, ant and bug infestation, mold in the bathroom, the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors. I wouldn't give them any stars if I could. All of "management" are young college kids who have no idea what they are doing. The kitchen is so damn time too, it's not meant for 2 people at all. I wouldn't even give any stars. The building is extremely old which means u can hear loud squeaks every time the upstairs neighbor moves. I'm not talking about small squeaking noise instead it's like the sharp noise of ur nails against a chalkboard kind of squeak. It's super annoying and there is nothing u can do about it. There r so many roaches no matter how clean u are and the staff is not at all helpful. Worst living experience ever. And the rent is expensive if u consider the condition of the house and the services. With the same price u can literally live anywhere in vegas with a much better environment. Run, people! read more

The previous reviews from others do not reflect my year and a half stay at Legacy LV. As an out of state transfer student, Legacy LV apartments was so convenient and newly renovated. My first year, I stayed in the gated area of the complex and I felt safe. It was also nice to only be surrounded by other UNLV students. The location of the apartment was across from campus and a short ride to shopping plazas, the airport, and the main strip where I worked. My second year, I moved to the non-gated area of the complex and I did not feel any less safe than I did in the gated area from the year before. Campus police are often present in the area which also brings safety to the complex. The management at Legacy LV was exceptional my entire stay as well as maintenance. Anything I needed help with, I can count on the leasing office to answer my questions or provide the help that I needed. Legacy LV requires a 12 month lease contract only. I graduated a semester early, so I went through the process of finding someone to relet my contract. Chad (manager) worked with me every step of the way. He was very understanding and determined to help me as a resident. I am grateful for Chad's help as well as the rest of the staff from every encounter I had while living at Legacy LV. They made my residency comfortable and the best it could be. read more

I am from out of state and living on campus in an apartment has been amazing at Legacy LV. It takes about ten minutes to get to all of my classes which is actually faster than when I was in the dorms and I'm not obligated to have a meal plan. The prices for rent here are great as well. My bedroom and closet space are especially spacious. I have a furniture package and it comes with basically everything I need. The staff are always positive and eager to help me from the moment I moved in. Anyways I plan to live here for the rest of my college time as my experience here has proven to be great already. I have been a resident here since Oct. 2016, and coming from the studio apartments across the street, this place has been a slice of heaven. As a student at UNLV, you cannot beat the location, especially being in the STEM fields, I never have to walk longer than 5 minutes to get to class. The phase 3 section is gated, under UNLV PD jurisdiction, and even has a night time security officer, making me feel a lot safer than I did right across the street. Bugs are bugs, we live in the desert. I would see all types of bugs, multiple times a day, living RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET, yet HERE at Legacy I barely see a roach once or twice a month, and they're already dead because pest control is always on their A game. The appliances were brand spanking new when I moved in, and the renovations of the apartment make the inside of the place feel much more modern than its outside appearance. Legacy LV is a wonderful spot for students to save money during their academic tenure at UNLV. The staff in the leasing office always go the extra mile to make you feel welcomed and special. The maintenance staff is A1, they are very swift with their service and do every job with a smile on their faces. I couldn't be more happier with my stay here at Legacy LV. read more
