Summary: I was initially envious how cheaper their prices were compared to NYC stables. At the end of our 2nd time riding/classes, my children and I had to admit NYC is superior in structure, and teaching quality. Prices: We are paying $70 (but $65 due to package,but really $69 bec of cardfee ) per person for a 30min trail + 30min lesson GROUP. That's 1 hour for 3 people. Costs: $70 + 3% card fee + $10 tip = total costs is about $85 NYC is $110 per hour, One to One class, no tip needed. My brother goes to another stables in Randall's and that's $65 for 30 minutes, One to One. Overall, we are going back to NYC for private lessons. Legacy is great for casual trail ride or even basic riding. I'll bring girlfriends here for an activity trail. read more

We've been wanting try horse back riding for a long time and today was the day we finally did. The weather was a bit iffy so I googled a place close to me in Woodbridge. Legacy came up and we decided to give it a try. Located right in Sayreville on Bordentown Ave, a road I have driven a thousand times and never noticed the sign for this place. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the staff. Having never been on a horse before we decided to take the half hour lesson followed by an hour trail ride. The lesson was great. I called last week to book a trail ride and was told that no reservation is required for weekdays. I told that we're driving from NYC, that we're coming on Wednesday and we're worried not to drive for nothing. Was assured that they're open everyday and no need to call. Today was the day, I called again in the morning to be on the safe side while we were driving. Got automatic reply "We're open, no reservation required, bla-bla". So we came, and the stable was CLOSED! We couldn't get anyone on the phone, we couldn't get anyone to come and talk to us, but then we were told at ANOTHER STABLE that today is too hot for horses. This is totally understandable, but IT HAS TO BE COMMUNICATED! We came all the way to discover that we can't ride today! Disappointed. read more

Went there with my husband. Our guide was Amy, she was very friendly and patient. We took the package which is half hour lesson and half hour riding $55/person. Half hour riding itself is $35/person. Waiting area is dusty but it is a farm so it is to be expected. There are goats, rabbits and chicken in the farm as well. read more

Well let me start with AWSOME!!!. The people are great!!!!. So kind and patient. It has been year's since I was on a horse. They where so sweet and caring with me. ( at least that is how I felt). The horse was very patient with me and the people helping me. It's been a long long time since I was on a horse and forgot how high it was. I guess when I was younger it did not bother me. But every one was AWSOME in making me comfortable with getting on and off. It was beautiful!!!!!!. Great experience! Showed up on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation (as recommended by the website). Opted for the 30-minute lesson + 1-hour trail ride package. About a 30-minute wait (told up-front that it could be an hour). The lesson was very helpful, as neither my wife or I had any prior experience. Our guide, Allie, took care to pair my somewhat-nervous wife with the calmest horse. All of the horses seemed to be well-trained and cared for. The horses and the trail were beautiful. However, the ones that take you on the ride are really rude and impatient especially if you are a beginner. Was harassed the entire ride and was called a "punk on a mustang" and was told I should have never even came on the ride because my knee was uncomfortable from the way that I was positioned and could not properly understand how to steer the horse. Sam was extremely rude, impatient and had a disgusting attitude and did not know how to properly and patiently explain how to ride. I filed a complaint and was given a free ride for "next time". Good place to go on a trail ride. The area is a farm. Not the worst farm i have seen but i also know that you can only do so much with the land you are given. I chose this as a date because my girlfriend and i both ride but at different barns. The people working were not rude at all. The waiting area is grass and dirt lot outside of the main paddock. No complaints. There are roosters, ducks, and goats all around. Great opportunity for the kids to see animals. In the main paddock there are about 20 horses saddled up. To the other reviewer who was complaining that they did not allow you to approach the horses, that is a safety issue. Not all the horses are finished training. While we were talking with the instructor she said that there was a three yr mustang to the left of us that was just getting used to having a saddle on him. Approaching him would not be wise. Again. Safety issue. My date and i went out on a private ride (45 pp). I rode Java who was very responsive. I was presently surprised about that. He was slow at the walk but was quicker then my girlfriends horse at the trot and canter. So i would trot every so often to catch up with the group. Again no complaints there. As a group we got to trot and canter around the trails. The trails themselves are sandy for the most part. Some narrow paths and some with uneven footing. Not the worst that i have seen. It did take me some time to get used to giving a longer rein and not posting at the trot (Java did not respond well to either of those things). All in all it was fun and i would go back. If you shoot archery, beside the farm is a course maintained by the United Bowhunters and there is also a dog park. Good place. read more

I am not really sure if i would ever return to this place. The trail was really pretty and fun. The horses are all very pretty and most of the staff is very kind. But there were of a lot of bad things about this place as well. It was very dirty and the waiting area was just gross. Our guide was soooo extremely rude. She yelled at us when we didn't know what to do, yelled at me when the horse messed up the rein, yelled at me when i couldn't fix it fast enough for her. When she told is the rules she had such an attitude. It seemed like she did not want to be there at all. We were treated more like a nuisance rather than a customer. She was just very unpleasant and really ruined the whole experiance for us. Also i was asked if i had ever ridden before when signing waivers, i do have a little experience so i said yes. Because of that i was given a horse that was really hard to control. He didn't like the bugs on his face so every time a bug was close to him he would jerk and jolt his head around. I know he wasn't doing it to hurt me but sometimes it would hurt my arm and it made me very nervous the whole time. I couldn't enjoy myself at all because i was worried about the horse freaking out on me. When we would go down hills and he would freak out a lot and i felt like i would almost fall off. At one point on the ride i was really about to get off the horse because i couldn't take it anymore. I really didn't enjoy myself because i was scared the entire time. I took my kids over the weekend to this stable and when I called to get information about this place, I was informed the ride was 10 minutes long on average. When we got there, we were already lost on where to enter the horse riding farm. Second, we finally found our way but waited more then 25 minutes to be helped. When the kids got on the horses and began the ride, I was behind them taking pictures and letting the kids enjoy themselves. Within 5 minutes, they were back at the beginning of the lap. Today was crazy busy but completely understandable considering the weather being so nice. Anyway! Me and my boyfriend went out riding today with the most sweetest instructor Layla she's very very patient and polite towards any and all customers there (as is the rest of the staff). I must say however it was very welcoming to have someone like her teaching us and being with us on a 90 minute package! Some of the staff at legacy could be a bit nicer however (girl with very blond hair) we over heard one of them yelling instructions to "pony walkers" in a very rude tone.... anyhow the horses there are very well maintained and fed the owner Brittany must defiantly be doing an amazing job! As Layla had mentioned to us in our lesson there is a lot of thinking that goes into the feeding of a horse and it's important to ensure each horse gets the correct intake! I will most defiantly be coming back to legacy and recommend 10/10 to anyone who has never ridden before to go! read more

This used to be a nicer place with the old owners. I went back there this summer and it was.. for lack of a better word ghetto. The place is a mess and dirty.. Not only in the surrounding area where you wait, but the office.. how do they even work in there. It is very hard if not impossible to get a hold of somone on the phone and no one calls you back.. better off just showing up. They have all these other animals which are cute, but they live in filth. The younger horses which don't need much to keep them going look ok, but are not very well trained and the poor older ones seem neglected and emaciated! It is horrifying! I was able to walk my horse over for some water and the water bin was pretty much empty and filthy. Ohh and don't forget it seems like all the guides with the exception of maybe one or two are teenagers. Not very comforting. They might know how to ride, but I doubt they will know what to do in a crisis. Needless to say, I will NEVER be going back there again and lord help those animals and anyone who goes on a trail. Very sad it turned into this.. Hopefully the previous owners have a new stable somewhere else now so I can ride safe and fun. read more

Today I surprised my girlfriend and took her to Legacy Riding Stables. This was our first experience riding and I wanted it to be with experienced riders and guides. It took us a bit to find the place but when we arrived, it was the so worth the it!! Once you walk in past the welcome sign, down the mini trail you will find a beautiful herd of horses and a few ponies. Other animals you will find on property among wild pigs, chickens, rabbits, and a couple dogs and cats. There is no shortage of family on this farm. Anyway, once we reached the animals, we were greeted by the owner and given permit forms to fill out. After we filled out the forms, we were given the choice to have a romantic couples ride through the trail, or we could accompany the group. We picked the couples' trail. We were fitted for our riding helmets and then we met our guide. She was just the best!! After meeting her, we met our horses. Let me tell you, I had the best horse ever. My horse was the most laid back horse I've ever seen. It made for the most relaxing ride. Her horse was a bit more active and wanted to eat, but all-in-all we had the best day we could've possibly had. Our guide was the absolute best!! She was nice, knowledgeable, and an all around great person. I wish there were more like her!! After our ride through the trails, we were guided back to the holding area, where we were greeted by the owner and staff once again. They inquired about our ride, then we went to the office to pay. The only changes I would make or suggestion I have, is getting another office space or adding a designated area for customer check in and check out. It was a bit hard to tell who worked there and who didn't, so I would say have name tags or company shirts. The last suggestion I have, would be to have lockers or cubbies to hold riders belongings while on trails. Other than that, this was just awesome!!
