She took the time to get us comfortable with our horses, I had Montana and my wife had Sonny, and we fed them treats, she showed us how to saddle them up properly, and patiently explained how to properly ride and handle our beautiful horses. She then led us on their scenic trail through flower-bedded fields, hilly horse paths, and by a scenic lake all while she took hundreds of pictures of us throughout our journey to cherish for years to come. Carrie has a beautiful farm, stable, and even an indoor area for riding lessons and parties. Her horses are all beautiful, well-kept, trained to handle all level of riders, and obviously well-loved and cared for. I highly recommend Misty Hollow for everyone, no matter which experience you choose to partake in (trail riding, lessons, parties, equestrian, etc). I would give this more than 5 stars if I could. When I called the, the owner Ellie answered the phone quickly and enthusiastically, referring me to her instructor Lu Ann. At my first lesson they matched my ability perfectly. Lu Ann was terrific - patient, knowledegable, and encouraging - just the right touch with me. She was great with her more advanced riders as well. At each lesson I was given a different horse and all were responsive and well trained. I was able to get a feel for how different each horse was to be ridden. These patient, safe lesson horses are great for those just starting out or just restarting out like myself, lol. I bought a lesson card and the pricing was fair. In the month of October, they offer a haunted trail of approximately one mile, and a haunted house of approximately one barn. For some reason, they don't sell a combo ticket online and due to limits on how many you can buy in a transaction, may have to buy multiple. The haunted trail beings with being loaded into a cattle shute, where actors will occasionally try to scare those against the rails. The amount of people allowed released to the trail at a time did double as it became clear the line wasn't dying down. The spooky scenes are very well done, and the actors fantastic. They're spooky and committed to their roles. My only criticism is between the scenes it's really dark and hard to see what's on the forest floor below. The path is pretty clear, but one stray rock almost caused me to trip. That's when I decided to ignore the no cell phone request and put the light to the floor below me. (Maybe some discount Halloween lights or glowing pumpkins to light the way?)

This was my very first time riding a horse. The guides are very experienced and truly take great care of the horses. You do need make a reservation and it's about $30.00 for the hour. Our tour started out with just me and my friend and about 10 minutes in we were joined by another family of four. The tours usually stay on the smaller side. It was so peaceful and calming and I truly felt like I had a handle on riding within the first 5 minutes. The horses are very well maintained and cared for and I will definitely be back and even if it's your first time this is the place to go.
