The staff was friendly and organized, and getting in and seated was smooth even with a full house. The Center Theatre Group hooked us up with a pair of second row tickets for this play when we were at the LA Times Festival of Books, and we purchased an additional pair for friends to join us for the show. Guac was a hilarious, creative, and heartfelt production. What amazed me was how the star of the show managed to pull off such a spectacular performance as a one-man band. His energy combined with the excellent crowd work on the audience made the whole night feel surreal. Without giving away too much of the plot, I can tell you that this play is very much on the nose for today's social climate and the timing couldn't be more perfect with upcoming elections. You can tell this theatre really supports bold, original productions instead of just playing it safe. Also appreciated how clean and well-maintained the venue was, plus there are plenty of good spots nearby to grab food or drinks before the show, like ramen at Ippudo or Mensho Tokyo. They also validate parking for an additional two hours if you park at City Hall, so I recommend taking advantage of this. The recommended attire is more on the casual side compared to Broadway shows you'd catch at Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, so leave the suits at home and pack a comfy outfit instead. Already looking forward to coming back for another production!

The ticket validation scanner is in the lobby area and staff are there to assist if need be. Came here to see the "Enormous Crocodile" with some other fellow adults. Probably one of the few groups here without children. For some strange reason, after purchasing my tickets, it said to pick them up from the box office, but that was no issue and we were able to get physical tickets ASAP, around 20 minutes before the musical. There's concession where you can get snacks (must finish before entering the theater) or drinks (can bring inside). They had some specials for the season and some specials for the showing, which we got both of. I really liked the non-alcoholic Swamp Water, very refreshing and fruity and the little palm tree umbrella was very cute and on theme. My bro and his friend shared the Croc Cooler, which was made with vodka, blue curacao, orange juice and bitters, and sprite and a stick of cinnamon. Very strong, had to water this down with the Swamp Water, but overall, definitely much more affordable than the spirits at the Ahmanson theater. There's also complimentary water. For the families there, there was a table for coloring and craft making, a wall to share your artwork, a nook of books recommended by the Croc, and a small table selling merchandise. For concession and merch, it was cashless only! It's a smaller theater but it uses the space pretty well, some seats to the side, and some balcony seats too. The stage is at ground level meaning you can walk in from the first row of seats (some parents had to reel in their toddlers from doing this). We were in the 3rd row from the front and the sound was nice and crisp, lighting was great, and it was nice from where we were at to see the details in the set, costume, and puppetry. Overall a fun experience and a good theater.

When first started it was 8 UCLA students. Four decades later, it is 50 committed actors. You simply must go. It is a not for profit and the actors work for nothing. They also do Shakespeare in the Park outside.

I describe it as fucking awesome. But perhaps you're looking for something more specific than that... Lost Moon Radio is set around Jupiter Jack who is a DJ floating in space. There are talk segments, songs, commercials, etc. They are presently on their 7th episode. If you're in the mood for a taste of what they have, you can check out their website. It has been a long time since I have laughed to the point that my face hurts, but these folks managed it. Except that joke about the pandas. I did not care for that. Also, afterwards, there super awesome band hosts live band karaoke. There's a large selection and they take requests for future performances. If you haven't seen them yet, shame on you.

The play was amazing, and I'd highly recommend seeing it if you get the opportunity. Big thanks to Michael K. for alerting us to the show, which we otherwise wouldn't have known about. Parking was easy and cheap, $5 for a matinee show (apparently $8 for evening). We cut it close and arrived just a few minutes before the 2:00 start time, but we were apparently in good company and got to our seats well before curtain. We were stopped just outside the theater by a group of IATSE protestors, who handed out flyers asking patrons to pressure management to give the Wallis crew a fair contract. According to this flyer (and I can't find anything else about this online), the Wallis has been bargaining with the union for six months and pays crew below standard wages for Los Angeles County. If anyone at Wallis is reading this Yelp review, consider it my email in support of the union. You're a theater named for a billionaire heiress. Pay your people. The theater was nice and the production was fantastic. Our seats were in the mezzanine, and we had a great view of the stage. Loved the set design, which involved a single classroom structure on a rotating platform. The performances were amazing, as was everything else that went into the production. I hope the Wallis does right by its crew so they can keep putting on top notch theater. I get their emails now and have not yet unsubscribed, as I'd like to know what other shows they have in the pipeline.

I've never been to this location before I would love to see another show here.

I hear such great things about Pantages but I just came back from a showing of Beauty and the Beast…read morethat was extremely disappointing. The Broadway cast and crew were amazing, mad props to them, but my grievances lie with the theater staff due to poor handling of an unruly couple (8/26 Row SS, seats 110 and 111) that disrupted my entire show. From the beginning, they were talking loudly and singing along with the musical actors. We kept trying to tell them to stop but they continued. At some point they had their phone flashlight on and was looking for something while the show was still going (the flashlight is especially bright and distracting when everything else is dark and moody). They just repeatedly and blatantly ignored basic theater etiquette. These were not isolated incidents--they were persistent and disruptive enough to significantly interfere with the experience of the people sitting around them (at least 3 rows--their row, the row behind them, and the row in front of them). The entire first half was so miserable. During intermission, I brought the situation to the crew's attention and was told that someone would speak with them. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I also found out during intermission from other people filing complaints with the crew that they were also texting the whole time and were disturbing the people sitting behind them (on top of being loud and obnoxious already). We did have 2 people give relatively weak (not firm at all) reminders of "no phone use, no talking, no singing along during the show" during intermission after the complaints but the couple was not present during those spiels. The couple then returned late from intermission and proceeded to interrupt the beginning of the second half... and then their disruptive behavior continued. During the second half, our area collectively decided to stop being polite about our grievances and started to intervene during the performance--telling them to be quiet, stop singing, and put their phone away while the show was going on. They didn't take the criticism well and started getting defensive. Why should paying guests have to police other audience members and, in doing so, further disrupt their own experience? For me what was particularly frustrating was the apparent lack of response from the theater after the issue had already been reported. It's just such a clear disruption of theater rules and common courtesy. Plus, other people are also complaining about the same two people. There should be a clear process for addressing the behavior, including asking them to leave. I see on the Pantages website that people can be escorted out... and I just can't believe that these people had no consequence whatsoever. 3 rows had a ruined experience because of them. I understand we can't predict who's walking through the door, considerate or rude or educated or not, but there has to be a protocol for the staff for when things like this happen. We the audience don't have power to kick them out (and wish we did) but the theater has, and the theater failed us. I just wish the staff will take complaints seriously and protect the experience of the rest of the audience. Moving forward, maybe have someone with a microphone announce ground rules, once at the beginning and another before intermission ends. In fact, I can't even imagine how much more disappointed I would be if it was any musical other than Beauty and the Beast. This one I know the Disney storyline and most of the songs so even with the 300 distractions I could follow along. The same cannot be said for other Broadway musicals. I would be so lost, so confused, and probably even more frustrated than I am now. I paid to see the performance, and instead I spent a significant portion of it distracted and frustrated. The lackluster response from the theater made an already frustrating situation even worse.

Puppet Up! Uncensored, at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre…read more This was my first time seeing Puppet Up, and I honestly didn't know what to expect beyond "improv" and "adults only, no holding back." What I didn't realize going in is that the puppeteers rotate, so literally no two shows are alike, and they build everything live off audience suggestions. I'm really glad Brian Henson is doing this. He's kind of on the cutting edge with this whole improv concept, who would've thought puppetry and unscripted adult comedy would work together this well. The cast wove in some classic material from the earliest Jim Henson days too, and that brought back so much of the whimsy and wonder the puppets are capable of. It felt thoughtful, like they genuinely wanted to honor where this all started, and they even said they felt honored that we were all enjoying it together. What really got me was realizing how much skill is hidden under the "make it look effortless" of it all. They pulled an audience member up for a crash course in puppeteering, just moving the mouth, basic mechanics, and it was clearly so much harder than it looks. That moment really drove home how much technical control these puppeteers have underneath all that improvised chaos. It's a lively, sixteen-and-over show, and that rating is earned, there's plenty of adult language and suggestive content. But if you go in ready for that, it's a genuinely magical, funny night.

Not necessarily easy to find at first but I'm glad I was aware then there were signs too. The theater is pretty small with three rows in front then sitting on both sides. Perhaps a capacity of 100? Very intimate. Not sure how the view is from the sides however. I loved the play. A series of 6 plays is around $235 which is very reasonable. I'll definitely come back! The restrooms are ancient with doors that are wayyy too small, but I guess it's common for a school? Briefly met the artistic director who is clearly passionate about his job and doing his best to keep this theatre alive. I loved that.

If my SUV could fit more people I would have asked more friends to join us. Parking was so easy, subterranean, safe and you walk right into the building from their underground garage. David the Managing Director was so personable and inviting, he seemed to know a lot of the attendees by name as regulars. They are very loving and welcoming to all people from all backgrounds. I highly recommend coming here just for the Mantras and the singing. It is very relaxing and one can meditate and cleans your mind from your everyday stresses. This rejuvenates your spiritual being even if you're not very religious like me. Besides the vegetarian food served on special days is better than most restaurants in the area just remember to give offerings what you can.
