Cheryl the manager is amazing at these events! She helped me set up a party for my sorority and was super accommodating, friendly, and reliable. Definitely recommend this business for party planning. The promoter advertises and makes it look very fun. She is extremely unorganized and very unprofessional, she does a great job at promoting the event, the Pasadena location is small, dirty and you do need reservations if you want to sit inside and enjoy the events as seen on social media. I'd like to start off by saying extremely disappointed !!!!!! I purchased three tickets, and I called immediately and talked to someone regarding reservations for a table gave her my name and the names of the guest that would be accompanying me. She sent me a link of expectations for example if I wanted to bring a cake, etc. etc. we got there at 7:15 and of course my name is nowhere on the list. She said I must've talked to the vineyard even though I called the number that's on the website for Mingle and Plei we were seated in the back. And although it was still early and not crowded, we ordered food and The gentleman that were taking our order did not know what he was doing. I asked for an impossible burger because was an option on the menu. They did not have it. I asked for house salad with honey mustard. ..They did not have honey mustard, etc. etc. When it came to the drinks, I ordered the house champagne flat.!! as though they left the bottle open for a few hours my guess that came with me stated that their drinks was not strong and that for $10 the plastic cups were small and not worth it when my food did come out it was not seasoned or cooked very well I can go on and on ...one thing I will say is a music was good however the vibe they seem very click ish as if everyone that goes there are frequently there so if you are a newcomer you get no love!! ‍ I gave two stars and was asked what they could improve on. Well, please cost reference the list. Apparently there's two list for guests to be seated inside. First off I want to say the Vibe and the music was great ! But as far as the service and everything, its an absolute Hell NO. The bartender was rude and had an attitude the whole evening . There was only one bartender for a while( we were upstairs). Then once the other bar tender came, She was making exuses for the male bartenders attitude. Plus she seemed bothered herself and said he doesnt speak or understand English well ( ? ) I witnessed on multiple occasions people having issues with the service and everything i mentioned and more . The drinks are overpriced and a ripoff. They also ad an automatic gratuity to each overpriced drink. Service was super slow it took long to get drinks let alone food. There is a lack of coheisiveness and communication, as we were sent back and forth up and downstairs several times just to place an order, that again took forever. The chicken wings were fire, but they just took a long time to get. The people in the front were very nice as was the manager with the grey hair was very pleasant . But the issued lies in the "people" running it . It seems to be the owners and his minion, they don't care about us.Just our biz. My people , we are the Vibe , we make the club and I suggest we create our own. We need to take our buisness elsewhere this reminded me of a " hurry up and buy" type situation! One small cup beer on tap was $15, a double shot of titos was $37 in a plastic lil jello shot cup. When we asked for limes we were told to go downstairs and get some. Lol. A few weeks ago Plei advertised the next speed dating event for Feb 1, 2013 so I sent an RSVP for myself and 2 friends. After a week I did not hear anything back so due to the advertisement saying there were limited spaces available I sent a follow up email to get confirmation. No response. Finally, 2 days before the event I sent another email to add another friend on the list and asked if the speed dating event was still happening since I did not hear anything back. Finally, after this 3rd email, someone responded with "Confirmed." The advertisement stated check in started at 9:30pm and speed dating would begin promptly at 10pm. My friends and I arrived at 9:45pm to check in and pay and sat down. After chit chatting for a while and getting drinks at the bar, I went to the check in desk around 10:20pm to ask when the event was going to start and I was told they would start in a few min as they were waiting for an area to be cleared out. Fast forward to 11:45pm and speed dating still had not started. My friend went to the front desk to get our money back (which they gave us) and we left. I did not write this review to bash Plei events or the organizers because I have been to their non speed dating events in the past and enjoyed myself, however I am disappointed with the lack of communication. I don't understand why I had to email 3 times in order to get a response back and I also don't understand why my friends and I sat there for 2 hours waiting for speed dating to start and nobody came over to give us an update about the status of the event. Every update we received was after we walked over to the front to find out what was going on. From the information we received it sounded like the delay was beyond the control of the organizers, but regardless if you know you have people waiting for it to start please be considerate of our time and effort by communicating with us what is going on. In addition, my friend was also told by one of the organizers that the guys participating in the speed dating event were "regulars." read more

Always loved the concept of the events. I still havnt actually attended an event yet but have been wanting to for over 5years now!! I believe this year I will stop putting it off and go!! 8/29/2014 So...I joined some girlfriends at Plei for the first time. The concept: a late evening (10pm-2am) for adults to mingle while playing board games, dancing, etc. There was a "drink wine/make art" event at the same time that was packed with women. The Plei event, however, was poorly attended, perhaps because of the holiday weekend(?) It's billed as a male/female mingle event, but it was definitely a melon fest with no sausage in sight. {If you understood that last sentence...naughty you. And ladies, if you are going to expose yourselves to the nth degree, please make sure the merchandise is in good condition.} The evening had the feel of either (1) an event that used to be good or (2) a very off night for a usually-good event. I can't call it! You walk in after a friendly greeting and then...nothing. There is a big table of games and lots of empty tables. No one is facilitating the mingling, etc. If you rolled in mob deep, good; if you didn't, time to hand the valet your ticket and hope he hasn't taken your car on a joy ride yet. Around midnight, the music cranked up and there was a game of musical chairs, with women seated and dancing men vying for seats on laps when the music stopped. This was followed by all the women on a tiny dance floor doing 'electric slide' routines. This could have been fun, but again...melon fest. I left around 12:30-ish, feeling that the night had nowhere to go. Maybe it caught on fire the moment I left, but prolly not. I support the Plei concept and the entrepreneurial spirit of the Plei-meisters. I'll try it again and update you down the road. Secret Message to Men: Find your way to Plei. Many moons ago when I was a wee lass a friend of mine invited to to Plei. I strode into the scene and was hooked by the simplicity of playing games, dancing to good music and socializing. I became good friends with several of the people I met there. Many years, a deportation, several babies, weddings, breakups and God knows what else- Plei is going as strong as ever. The venue is subject to change so sign up for the mailing list. Your hostess Cheryl is a great young woman who's stamina and strength defy logic and inspire me to greater things. I've been in Cali for about 5 months now and a friend of mine took me to Plei back in April of 2010. The first night I went, I freaking LOVED it! I love the concept of a relaxed and chill ADULT atmosphere. Everyone is so nice and Cheryl does a great job at making people feel at home. The PLEI regulars are friendly and make you feel welcomed. Where else can you go to enjoy great food, your favorite childhood games and an amazing DJ? And it's all for $10 in LA? He is not really a crowd type of person, but he really liked it. I first started to go off and on when they were located in leimert Park at Lucy Florence. I love the concept. Its always a good time and a great way to meet new people. They've recently moved to new venues, which I believe was a really a good idea. The old venue was pretty crowded. I went to a Plei speed dating event a couple of months ago and it was pretty loud, chaotic and disorganized. However I give the organizers props for the number of people that participated. I have been to Plei a few times and it's always alot of fun. There is always a great energy flowing throughout the place. No bs, no haters, just people enjoying themselves. This is a great alternative to the typical hollywood scene and sometimes you need those time where you can just go out and chill and have fun playing board games while listening to some great music. Great way to go out, mingle and meet some new people on a weekend night without actually going to the club. I have been attending Plei for the last 10 years and it has completely flourished. It started off in Pasadena with a few friends coming together at a restaurant to play games to Loft parties in LA with a live Dj's, an open bar, dancing, a mixed variety of people and a great atmosphere. There's over 100 something games to choose from and it's a nice alternative thing to do with friends instead of going to the movies, dinner or clubbing. I've actually been to Plei several times and as I type this I'm wondering why I hadn't wrote a review sooner... well nevertheless better late than never so here it is. I held my 30th Birthday party at Plei which was located at e3rd Street Steakhouse or something like that. Anyhoo! I arrived early to reserve a space for my party guest, which was a great idea considering the crowd that later came. The atmosphere was definitely kick back, the people where friendly. I had great time with my party guest as played connect four, jenga, and shoots & Ladders, I could tell my guest were pleased by the smiles on their faces which made me feel good that they weren't bored. one of my party guest texted me the next day saying she for got her leather jacket on the chair so I informed her that I would email the owner and see if she picked it up after everyone left. To be honest I thought her jacket would be long gone, but to my surprise the owner Cheryl returned my email and stated that she had the jacket and my guest could come pick it up from the venue. I thought...WOW Amazing!! Most people wouldn't even bother. I will be celebrating my Birthday this weekend at Plei which will be held at Local Sports Bar, you should come:) I will also return with a follow up review on Plei at Locals Sports bar. I was looking for a place to celebrate my 30th birthday. I'm not much of a club-goer and had been obsessing over the idea of having a child-themed-adults-only party, I figured this was the year to do it. After looking at various alternatives, I somehow happened upon Plei's website. I read every possible review I could find and looked at every picture, trying to gauge exactly how much fun people were having. The reviews and pictures don't do the event justice. I contacted Cheryl and she was so patient and informative, I ended up booking my birthday there without ever having attended. It was perfect! Some of the highlights: -The restaurant staff was so gracious and accommodating (even after my party expanded by about 15 people over than expected!) -Awesome game selection. EVERYONE had a great time. I have a pretty eclectic mixture of friends, and they were all entertained. -Great music by the DJ!! -Cheryl, the hostess, was phenomenal. She took pictures of everyone, made sure everyone knew where everything was, and kept checking to make sure everyone was having a good time. Thanks to the organizers of PLEI!!! I am one of the original Plei patrons. I use to show up early and would watch Cheryl of Plei setting up. I figured why not, so I began helping her and next thing you know I was working with Plei, which was very rewarding socially. The people of Plei that came week after week came from all over and were genuine good people with a wide variety of personalities and backgrounds. The Plei concept was at first all about the games, then it grew to music and finally a DJ. Later came dance floor activities, casino games and theme nights. You still see the original crew of patrons week after week, but now you see new people every week, different venues and a lot more games and themes. I no longer work with Plei, but stop in from time to time to enjoy what interested me to begin with and of course catch up to the Plei owners Cheryl and Rob, many of the original friends and meet new friends. Great alternative to the run of the mil nightclub. Drinks are reasonably priced and music was great with the exception of the end. The DJ got lazy towards the end.
