Let me begin by saying that I have chosen Legacy Travel before. I had a restful babymoon with my husband years ago when we relaxed in Mexico. So I thought I would call on Legacy again for a special occasion: my [redacted, LOL!] birthday. Iceland was on my bucket list. I dreamed to witness the Northern Lights. Our agent, Audrey, talked with us to get our vibe for the trip and then came up with an itinerary. We were initially so excited to go! But then... I was skeptical about aspects of my trip to Iceland: What would the weather be (would we even make it out of Dallas)?Would I be able to sleep soundly in the middle of Reykjavik? How would I be received as a Black woman?Would I be able to eat without going bankrupt? Would I even see the Northern Lights? I had begun to seriously doubt my commitment to turning [redacted] in the land of fire and ice. When we were able to escape from DFW despite the threat of ice storms and 13-degree weather, I started to join Audrey in her confidence that all would be well. For Black women like me who are concerned with how their Black bodies will be treated in Iceland: I felt safe and even cared for. I think racism is everywhere, but I felt quite a reprieve there, and I was neither gawked at nor shunned. Just engaged with as a fellow human. Since favor ain't fair, the sun followed me the entire time in Iceland and it was far warmer than home. Even when it was cloudy and misty with cold rain, I witnessed the Northern Lights in all their glory. Our spartan yet spotless hotel was nestled in the heart of the very walkable city of Reykjavik, and the included breakfast shielded our wallets from further damage (because food in Iceland IS absolutely expensive--but soooo good. I will dream of the pastries from Sandholt and the homey seafood dishes at Messinn and Mar).Audrey worked with us so that we had times of rest and exploration of the city, and times of excursion. We witnessed the Northern Lights and I cried. It was spectacular. Everything I had hoped for. We went to the Blue Lagoon for my birthday, which was fascinating and relaxing. It was busy, but not overcrowded. As a stretch, I requested we go snowmobiling and visit an ice cave (if I could have a do-over, I would have opted to do this at the Golden Circle, but this was still cool). IT WAS EXHILARATING! What a privilege to zoom through the beautiful desolation of a harsh tundra that, if left to my own devices, would absolutely kill me. It was exciting, humbling, enlivening. My cousin went on the trip with my husband and I because she's my bestie, and we also scheduled time at our sister-hotel's spa (Center Hotel Grandi) for a full body massage, and post snowmobiling, decided to relax at Sky Lagoon for their Ritual, and had the distinct pleasure of soaking in warm waters as the flurries of the evening landed delicately on our lashes. Audrey's work made our trip unforgettable in the best way. I LOVED IT. The term that keeps coming up for me is "blessed." It was a blessed trip. Audrey's work and attention set the environment for a life-giving travel experience. My birthday was so memorable. We are in love with Iceland. read more

"Work hard, travel harder" I am an avid travel so when my friend said the church group was traveling - I said sign me up!!! From the beginning, things were off. Let me just say from my experiences AND from my expectations, I would have planned a better trip for the money. If I could give this place negative stars - I would give -5. From the receptionist to the agent to the manager - this place is so unprofessional and unresponsive (and I had conversations with all of them). They have your money already, so they do not practice the fundamentals of good customer service. I don't like losing money BUT I almost cancelled in the final hours. The only reason I continued to deal with them is because of my friend. I was her roommate and she would have ate the cost of me not going. As a traveler, I know the things they did NOT provide - starting with customer service, ending with amenities. There is no way I would have paid that kind of money for destination Cancun and not been in the highest rated hotel. My friend and I shared a room to which I paid more than $1,000 for my half - just for a hotel room (well have of a hotel room that was NOT the most exquisite hotel). Now, considering they make a fee off me going, shouldn't at least customer service be excellent?? Things were disorganized, they threatened to charge cards without my permission (mind you I never said keep ANY card on file - I made one-time payments), they reached out to other parties about MY payments - sent receipts to ALL with my financial information. ALL this was done before the payment was considered due. From the beginning we had a final due date, payments to be made at your leisure until the final date. I made one inquiry throughout the entire process about the added insurance at an additional cost that I wanted to opt out of - as their website states. I simply asked about it - as I should be able to do - as this is why there is an agent. The agent called my friend and not me with the answer to my question - to say I put the agent in an uncomfortable position by asking. At this point, I was done!!! BUT, it was the email I received the night before my trip about transportation being a fee to me (when the entire time it said it was included) that ensured I will NEVER use a travel agent to do what I will have to do on my own anyway!!!! Do NOT use this company if you want a stress-free trip. Do NOT use this company if you know how to book your own trips.... I'm a seasoned traveler, and thought I would check out Legacy Travel to plan a cruise in 2027. When I arrived for my appointment time I was the only potential client there, with probably 6 or more agents busy on their computers. Ken greeted me and led me to his desk, which was just inches away from the next agent, so everyone in the place could hear our entire conversation. Without even engaging me or acknowledging my excitement to plan for my 70th birthday, Ken launched into his speech about how they charge $50 to even talk to me. I already knew what ship, dates, etc. And how if I made any changes it would be another $100, and if something something it would be another $100. At this point I shut down and wanted to head for the exit. He said "we're a busy agency" (again, no one was in there) and we don't want to plan and have you not book. Wow! It was super awkward, and I just wanted to get out of there. I've used other agencies that are paid by the cruiselines, and they have never asked me to pay. And he wanted me to pay on the spot: " I can text you the form right now" he kept saying. No thanks. And there was no chemistry there at all. We got really sick in Lima Peru & Terrah changed our flights, arranged transportation and made sure we did not miss much by staying behind one day. I decided to go on a last minute trip for spring break. In one day, Alyssa put together packages for Jamaica, Cancun, and Costa Rica. By the next day, my trip was booked, and 3 days later, I was on a direct flight to Liberia, CR. Recently took a trip with husband to Playa del Carmen, Mexico and Audrey Evans was our travel agent who was absolutely phenomenal. We were horrible at responding but Audrey was always updating us, available, sweet, kind, and even checked up on us while we were arriving to our destination. Stayed at an all inclusive adult only resort and it was amazing. Everything she planned was beyond perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. It was the best vacation we've ever had. We were working to book a trip and were told that time was of the essence. WE had to follow up with the agent and request to see the potential packages to pick from. When we finally got them, we quickly selected one because "time was of the essence" and expected to hear back from our agent to get things quickly paid for and booked. We emailed him Friday. Today is Wednesday. We emailed back and got yet another out of office message. Unreal. They should be at minimum responding to clients when they are "in the tropics" touring destinations. My wife and I have used Legacy Travel to book two trips to Disney World and one to Cabo San Lucas. Our agent is Katie Read. One Disney trip involved our immediate family, which was six adults and three kids and was a cruise as well as time at the parks. Katie did an outstanding job on all three trips. From the flights, to the airport to hotel or ship transportation, to the accommodations, all were excellent and superbly handled. Katie also is an expert on Disney and provided a lot of useful tips. We tried to use Legacy for a trip to Europe. They would always package things together so you could not measure the value. We finally got them to break it apart and found the hotels, in every instance, were 40 to 80% more expensive than we could book online on an "apples to apples" basis. for excursions, it was up to double the price. After many years of travel, and experience with numerous travel agencies, I have never had as bad of an experience as this. Where do I begin to list all the troubles I had, with Katie Reed our agent: Dinner assignment: we requested the late seating on our cruise, and after double checking with Katie multiple times, we discovered on the first day, that she had NOT reserved any set dining time for us. While this is was a minor inconvenience, that was just the first of many things she neglected to do. Transportation: airport to ship/ship to airport: This was yet another neglect, in a string of neglects. We inquired about transportation to/from the airport and ship, only to be told that because we had, "booked our flights too late", that transportation from the airport to the ship, was not an option. Her solution for our "problem", was to arrange an expensive car service. When we declined that option, she basically told us that we were on our own. For the return transportation from the ship to the airport, I discovered upon inquiring with the ship, that Katie had NOT arranged this. In our travel documents, a rerun transportation service was shown, but it did not appear in the ship's system. This caused us to pay a additional $30 out of pocket, that we thought we'd already paid. Every time my friend and I asked Katie for an itemized invoice, she never did it. This should have been a big red flag for me, but I was too trusting. I had never encountered that type of issue before, therefore it never entered into my mind to further question it. All during the planning of this cruise, she was extremely unresponsive and has to be prodded multiple times, to respond to any questions or requests that we had. There were several occasions where she would either take days to respond back to emails, OR even phone calls; often times I had to either send off another email, or phone her again, in order to get a response. She just did not seem to care. Often times, she decided what was best for us, rather than to listen to what we had requested. In other words, she just flatly does NOT listen to what the customer wants. Needless to say, Legacy Travel will NOT ever hang any future business OR recommendations from me. The agency only lists the "positive" reviews on their website - which I understand- however it doesn't paint an accurate picture of how they do business. Bottom line: buyer beware. read more

This was my first and probably last time using a travel agent. Our travel agent was Alyssa, and at first things we going great until the day the final payment was due (Dec.3rd). On the morning of 12/3, I received a text from her advising me my final payment was due, and asking for authorization to charge a card I previously used.I ignored the text simply because that's not a proper way to do business and I was going to make my payment over the phone as the other ones.Well later that evening, I received texts and calls from some individuals from my group.After speaking with them we realized an individual in each room wasn't making payments (remember finals payment due).Had I auth that final payment that morning I would have been in the whole even more because we only received an air credit for a certain amount. After mutually deciding to cancel our trip, because the only way to still go was to cover the cost of the other person.I auth Alyssa to charge my card the cancelation fee which was around $147, and she advised we come pay the cancelation with them at a later date.Well I checked my card and I was always charged an additional $100 cancelation with legacy travel.Never did I auth the payment, and after calling to confirm the payment was a collective amount amongst 3, meaning I only owed $33. However, it took several days for me to receive a refund (she had to pull the call, managers were out the country, and billing manager was gone a few days). Alyssa, also ensured me she would follow up with me the following Monday, but didn't instead I had to call her. She had absolutely no urgency in regards to the matter. Things were poorly communicated and I will never use this company again or refer them to friends and family. read more

Two of my closest girlfriends and myself needed help planning our trip to Europe, so we were referred to Legacy Travel by a friend. We thought Legacy Travel would "be a travel agent" and actually plan our trip. We had problem after problem once the planning was started. Cards charged multiple times without notice. Tours cancelled without notice, but this was only the beginning. Our hotel changed 1 week before leaving without notification. Once we arrived to Paris, there was no one to pick us up at the airport after purchasing a private transfer. Nothing was even scheduled. This was only one transportation example gone bad out of multiple others. We had no transfer when we left Amsterdam to fly home after Kathy the owner said there would be no issues!!! This made us literally RUN through the airport so that we wouldn't miss our flight. Katie our actual agent neglected to inform us of various details regarding Museum Pass pickups, when they could of been shipped to us prior to our trip to save time and money once we arrived. If you are looking for a travel agency that has an attention to detail, this is not the place! Still on our trip, various other problems happened and we called internationally back to Legacy to speak with the owner Kathy, but only to find out that she was emotional-less to our situation while on our "stress free vacation". Lack of communication, lack of attention to detail, and follow through by Legacy travel caused us to lose valuable time during our trip. We also encountered situations that caused undue stress that could have been avoided. You ask how they handled our complaint??? THEY DID NOTHING! Not even with a simple apology. I want to believe that this is only me, that this has happen to. I was planning a family trip to Los Cabos before the Covid-19 shelter in place were put in place on 03/17. Not even minutes later confirming prices. The cost changed for the other passengers going on the trip. I promptly cancelled because the original quote changed by several hundred dollars. No problem right. Wrong! I was assured that my refund would be processed within 21 days. I waited and waited and waited, oh and waited. After several emails back and forth with Terrah (agent of Legacy Travel). I was told by help desk in the email that I was copied on 04/21 that March 12 submissions are processing. They quote on quote stated "4-5 business days until my refund to my cc." Okay, great! Wrong! Here we are 05/30/2020. Still no refund. I asked the agent about the status of my refund once again, because of what was stated. I mean, I was told one thing and nothing follows through. Thank GOD! I am not hurting for this money, especially during these trying times. It's now the principle of what was said to me. I just want my refund that's all, and I hate that I had to do a review to maybe..just maybe get some type of action because emails and no phone calls to me directly are being done. Stay away from this agency if you are planning to book a trip and there is a possibility of you cancelling. I am aware and totally understand that there were massive cancellations after mine. Everyone seems nice in the beginning until they have your money. Three words Rude, Dishonest and a Thief . My travel agent name was Katie who constantly paid herself off my card on file . When I finally notice my credit card statement it was over $400 token and she even put a deposit down for someone else room . After speaking to the manger Kathy she assured me it was going to be taken care of , but it hasn't. I had over 35 guests and had to step in and assist with transportation, speak with resort mangers all because the resort was unable to get in contact with agency as well. One of the greatest attributes of the service the office provided was that anyone could assist when I called or emailed with questions. I would like to say after reaching out to several agencies around the area and getting no answer or replies via email. From the first moment I emailed Legacy travel, Hannah Cote reached out to me to get more information in regards the all inclusive trip I was looking for. I told her exactly what I want it which was as follows, all inclusive, all adults resort and luxurious and that's exactly what i got within the first hour of reaching out to Legacy. Hannah found a resort in Cancun named Secrets the Vine which was beautiful and ocean front which had an amazing view to the ocean! She was very informative and helpful throughout my trip and checked up on us before we left and during our trip to make sure things were running smooth. I was really blown away with the type of service I received from Hannah and legacy travel. My trip was originally set for April of this year but due to COVID-19, Hannah promptly acted quickly on rescheduling my trip for this past August. I will be reaching out to Hannah again to schedule another trip very soon, I strongly recommend legacy travel and ask for Hannah Cote! read more

Alyssa was my travel agent. She was nice and gave me options on hotel resort and flight prices for our family's first ski trip. As the trip got closer, Alyssa sent me the ski vouchers for my family. I was informed that the vouchers included everything we would need for skiing, such as the ski equipment, ski lift passes, and ski lessons for 1 day. I noticed my voucher had my named misspelled & the voucher for our 8 year old had a completely different name listed. I emailed Alyssa with the corrections and she apologized, corrected the names, and sent me a revised copy of the ski vouchers with all the names spelled correctly. I trusted the issue had been resolved. I went to the designated ski rental location to redeem our vouchers and to get everyone fitted for our skis. The cashier & manger did not see any valid vouchers in my name. The manager determine that a lady with a similar name spelling as mine was the only name in the system. Coincidentally the lady who had a similar name as mine showed to have 5 ski passes (5 were also in my party). When the manager showed me the ski identification cards for that lady, I noticed the name on one of the passes matched the name on the original voucher that Alyssa sent me which had our 8 year olds name completely wrong. The voucher confusion took approximately 4 hours and I also had to pay $1024 out of pocket so that my family could go skiing! That was money I did not plan on spending. After the trip, I notified Alyssa of the ski package issue and she told me she did not know why the vouchers were invalid and she was under the impression that the packages I pre-paid for included all the ski stuff and that she was going to forward my email to the ski supplier to get answers. She finally got back with me & told me that she misunderstood the ski supplier and did not know the ski lift passes and ski lessons were not included in the package I pre-paid for and that Legacy Travel could only reimburse me for the ski lift passes, as a courtesy, which totaled $210.00. This huge mistake almost ruined the entire ski trip! Again, Alyssa is a nice person, but the travel agency dropped the ball on this one: I did not expect a travel agency that's been around a while to make a mistake like this. read more

Went to Cabo for a wedding. 10 of us. Requested confirmations from Legacy throughout the process. Seemed like everything was set prior to departure but things happen and we had some travel changes which you would think can be handled but we were told it was too late by Legacy Travel. Needless to say upon arrival transportation set up was not correct from the airport to the resort but we figured it out. At resort check in, the hotel could only find 2 of our 3 rooms. They had our names wrong which is clearly a big deal as we were constantly told we need to match our passports. No idea what happened but check in took an hour and the third room ended up not being what we paid for or anywhere near the other two. The resort said it was because of our travel agent and not their fault and proceeded to offer me advice on how to properly book trips in the future. Advice I didn't appreciate. Having a travel agent should eliminate issues and allow you to relax on vacation. Upon departure the transportation set up to the airport only had 3 of the 10 of us listed with accurate information. I spent 30 minutes working through the details with the transportation contact at the resort. At one point he said "I hate weddings and travel agents". Interesting discussion. Now, I don't know who is right or wrong with the many issues we faced as I'm sure Legacy thought they provided the info to the hotel and i will point out the hotel staff service was poor, but the bottom line is there were issues that shouldn't have happened if everything was done correctly. Our friends book an anniversary celebration in Cabo for July/Aug 2021. The invited guests were in the their 60s, 70s and 80s. In part, due to health concerns with Covid 19 the celebration out of the country was canceled. When I requested a refund 14 months before departure, I received a 'tuff luck' email telling me I could use my deposit on another trip. Like I would trust them with more of my money and my travel plans. If I booked the hotel directly I could have canceled up to 48 before. Bottom line don't use Legacy Travel. Book the hotel directly. read more

We've used Legacy to book flights and hotels for 2 trips now (including our honeymoon), and LOVE the customer service. I've worked with 2 different agents and love the prompt quotes, plus you always come home to welcome home card in the mail, followed up by a personal phone call. On our honeymoon, we found out the hotel had booked all of the king bed rooms to a convention and they said they only had a double for us. One call to our travel agent and the hotel had us upgraded in minutes. Can't recommend them highly enough. read more

If I could NOT give it a star I would. Where does one begin when your whole experience with Legacy Travel (accept for Cathi the owner ) was an Awful one. Dealing with Nicki S. Was the worst experience of my life!!! She never answers emails or calls. The other guests got so frustrated that they booked their travel themselves. Others stayed at other resorts because Nicki didn't know how to do her job! She told me pricing in April and then changed it to a large increase because of air fare in October. I did question the pricing in April and she assured me that was the price. In October I explained now I can't afford the trip so I asked for pricing to change days and stay less and she changed it and I loss two days for the price of just removing one day. I called and spoke to only the owner after this confusion and she gave me my two days back and of course with a price but never apologized for Nicki's mistakes. I would NEVER book a travel with this company and if I were you I would run from Nicki at Legacy Travel!! read more

I LOVED Legacy Travel. They made my trip so easy. All I had to do was tell them where I wanted to go and my price points. They took care of my resort, transportation, and air. It was SO easy. They also kept me updated on any changes to my flight months before the trip. They even went as far as making sure I had a middle seat in the middle of the plane because I'm afraid of flying. I will 100% be using them again for my next trip. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to have an amazing trip without the hassle of planning. Also, Aubrey is amazing! A group of friends and I used Legacy Travel (Alyssa as our agent) to book a trip to Portugal. It was our second time using Legacy Travel Agency, but it will be our last. There were several missteps that made the process too stressful to recommend using Alyssa specifically, and the agency in general, again. From trying to run my old credit card (that was used for Hawaii trip in 2015) instead of the card I'd given for this trip, to not processing payments, to not returning calls, to me finally having to work with someone else in the office to make my final (lump sum because nothing has been paid but the deposit) payment. It was a mess! After we returned, we contacted Alyssa about a shipping issue with the hotel - almost a week later, I got a response from her. I'm not sure why I contacted her at all... I couldn't get a response when I was a paying customer, I'm not sure why I thought I'd get one after the trip. Really nice people, but disorganized, inconsistent, and unprofessional. Maybe Alyssa is good for short trips to Cali (but we can book trips like that on our own), but I don't recommend her for a group nor for international travel. read more

Remember how "worldly" your freshman year roommate claimed to be because they had seen every Akira Kurosawa movie ever made and downloaded a bunch of music by The Pogues, yet this was the first time they left Cleveland, Ohio? Thanks to the Internet and social media, anyone and everyone can claim to be an international expert. But the professionals at Legacy Travel are genuinely worldly powerhouses of information, able to literally guide you to your destination and places you never even dreamed existed, all with exceptional service, follow-up conversations and a sense of adventure you would not typically find in most travel agencies. This review is actually the result of two years' enjoyment in booking international trips with Legacy Travel, and is long overdue as this is only the lucky 13th review for this group of dedicated globe-trotters at the time of this writing. Imagine a cliched 80s-era sitcom flashback as we journey back to 2013, when my parents first met, and had the fortuitous luck to work with, Erin. We were looking to do Europe's "big three" of London, Paris and Rome, and Erin had the multi-week excursion mapped out before I could even request time off at the office. Everything, from the hotels to the attractions, the "local secret" businesses to the touristy sights, was itemized and outlined through her rapt attention to detail. Whenever an option came up that may have been a price point we were not willing to pay, she had another two or three available to pick from that she personally recommended. And that, right there, is the vital ingredient that elevates Legacy Travel to serene levels of customer satisfaction and confidence: the staff are able to "talk the talk" because they have already "walk[ed] the walk." Erin has been to places most of us have vaguely heard of in-between naps during high school Geometry, and she has the encyclopedic knowledge to back up her recommendations. It's one thing to read about these far off destinations in the "Travel" section of your local Barnes and Nobles, but it's another thing entirely to be fortunate enough to have someone who has been there, done that and would do it again telling you that The Louvre will impress all your Facebook friends when you check in there (my words, not hers). All Legacy Travel personnel are well-versed in their regions of the world, and the inviting atmosphere of the office ensures that anyone who walks through the door will be greeted and valued almost immediately. The actual operations sit in a storefront back behind the Anamia and Plucker's restaurants almost near the curve in the strip mall, but unlike those two eateries, there is plenty of parking around the office to stop in for advice. Erin did such a great job with our 2013 European rendezvous, and her following-up calls and e-mails were a most appreciated "extra mile" of service. She wanted to make sure we were satisfied so it was a no-brainer to turn to her again in 2014 for advice on Germany and Austria. She helped put that trip together using the same dedication and interest to her craft that she used a year ago. It is now about three weeks since that trip successfully concluded and made me a local celebrity once my coworkers saw my photos. And, because she is an unquestionably deserving 2/2 for her track record of trip advice, we look forward to getting her take on Ireland and Scotland over the next few months.
