I began tutoring with Mike from LSAT partners beginning of December of 2022, until June of 2023. In just about 6 months I had a 26-point jump in my score. During my first session with Mike, he got an understanding of where I stood within the score range and put together a study plan specifically made for me. I also explained to him what I thought I had difficulties with within each section. However, he brought to my attention there were other problems I was solving incorrectly which I thought I was doing right from the get-go. This was a major issue I was having prior when I was solely studying with online programs, because there are things a program that's made for everyone (and very generalized) can't provide each individual with the right tools to help them understand certain question types the right way. I tutored with Mike about 2 times a week. He instructed me to attend each session with questions prepared and sent to him before class so we could review together. He went through every single question I had and thoroughly explained all the ins and outs of how to approach each specific question and drilled these question types with me until I got them right. He also taught me how to manage my time wisely, which is crucial during the LSAT. I cannot stress how effective Mike's tutoring methods are and how incredibly thankful I am to have had such an amazing tutor during this journey. His prep course and videos show why the right answers are right and how to know for sure and why the wrong answers are wrong and why for all lsat sections. His course is reasonably priced I chose self study online and it was perfect for me a single full time working mommy of one. It provided me with the flexibility to start and come back on my own schedule. There's videos showing explanations for various questions for all four sections. I brought additional books and materials online from Amazon to focus on my weakest sections logic games and logic reasoning. Nathan is extremely helpful and supportive during my longgggg and challenging journey preparing for the lsat. My previous score went up six points the last time I took it in 2015. This time I expect an even bigger score increase especially where the games and logical reasoning sections are concerned. I started noticing patterns in the way the questions were asked on the lsat and learned how identify how to answer the question by focusing on what the question is asking in the logical reasoning section specifically. He also shows the best way to diagram the rules in the logic games and making inferences. That entails not wasting time diagraming unnecessarily and and certain rules you can hold in your head. That depends on the type of logical game your working on. I am more confident in crushing these sections after reading and practicing using the logical reasoning book and Logical reasoning playbook. I enjoyed the logical game playbook the most (never thought I would say that.) by the time I got to the second time practicing the game after reading the explanation I was crushing the games the second and third time around. It became fun especially when I could look at question after diagraming and doing inferences and knowing without a doubt which answer was right and why the others were wrong. I've been struggling with the logical games for quite some time and I can say I've conquered the fears and the doubts I once had. I'm very proud of myself! Nathan is constantly arguing with the speaker and using profanity (which is hilarious, btw) to keep the class alive. Actually, I think he's just being himself which makes the otherwise dry material very entertaining. Nathan scored a 179 on the LSAT so it seems he can do most of these in his sleep if he wanted to. In addition to covering the LSAT section he does a 30 minute Q&A before every class (530pm-6pm) where you can ask him anything related to law school. He is always honest about the pros and cons of pursuing a legal career which I appreciated. He also did a great job of bringing in guest speakers to answer questions you may have. Nathan is always available to his students. You can always email him and he'll get back to you. If you have a question about applying, want to send him your personal statement or got stuck on a question he's your man. I admire how available he makes himself. You can tell he wants to help people succeed on the LSAT and get into the best possible law school they can. One thing I particularly appreciated is he allowed me to pay on a payment plan. This helped ease some of the financial burden of a $500 a month class. His prices are very reasonable and worth every cent but his flexibility was very much appreciated. Nathan also offered proctored tests on the weekends so you get to mimic test conditions. I found those valuable. Unless you're an outstanding test taker my advice would be to take the class for 1-2 months. At that point you start to see the patterns in some of the logic games and get a feel for how to set them up and you may be able to recognize certain types of questions throughout the test. I researched a couple of places before choosing Nathan's class and preferred to support a local business and I can guarantee Nathan is funnier and more effective than any of the big test prep services out there. I was always amazed at how he would pick apart problems with very little content. the first part of the course covers material; the second part covers practice and strategy. Perfect for me since liked going to lecture and learning directly from them. He doesn't use books so you need to go to class. CARS was one of my favorite parts of the class. He really showed me how to read and break down passages. It really changed the way I looked at the test. In the end I did fine of the MCAT- 516 and I owe a lot of that to Swartwood + hard work!!

For a service that told me pretty much exactly what I thought I would hear (and also a lot of stuff…read morethat I thought was impossible), this was the single best $600 I have ever spent in my life. JORF is a place where HS and college students and even adults come to learn about their innate aptitudes (not interests, but what you are NATURALLY good at, and not good at as it were). I came in hoping for some direction. I had hated my career for 8 years and hoped that JORF would give me some insight into why, so that I could fix what was not working. And boy did they deliver. As it turns out, I am a classic "ideaphoric" which is just a made up word for someone who has to be constantly stimulated and constantly learning, working on a team but accountable to herself (i.e., never micromanaged). It also means that I should be giving the orders, not taking them. I am better served to have ideas and let someone else put those ideas into form. AHA! At all my previous jobs but one (which was my favorite - working in a hospital) I have been micromanaged like hell, not because I needed to be (all my bosses have said how good I am at what I do) but b/c the business I was in (marketing and technology) tended to employ and promote managers who by their very nature cannot delegate, don't know how to do any of the tasks they assign to you themselves and who take credit for others' work. No wonder I was so miserable. I also found out that while I was never good at science in school (a really bitchy teacher told me at 8 years old that I was a "bad science student" and that I was "stupid" compared to my more math-minded classmates... effectively ending my will to try), and I was very creative in school (hence all the marketing jobs)... my aptitudes were the opposite. I am very science minded and while I am creative, it's more of a hobby as it doesn't fulfill any of the other natural abilities I have that would make a job "satisfying" to someone with my aptitudes. So suck it Ms. "X", my 3rd grade science teacher. Glad you got fired from teaching just a few years later. For a scant $600 fee, you get over 7 hours of psychological testing (puzzles mostly, and word association type tasks but these are not an IQ test, they are only measuring what you are naturally good at, so don't try to study for these) AND a consultation explaining your results at length. You get to keep your results and come back with questions at any time during your life, too. I was so affected by my experience there that within 3 weeks of getting my results, and after 8 years of struggling to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, I made a swift decision to go to medical school. Just like that, all the cloudiness and indecision slipped away because this time, I had proof that I had the aptitude for it (in addition to the burning desire) and not just the opinion of some teacher who didn't want to do her job and TEACH me. If you are struggling to figure out a career, a major, want to find out what you're good at, or want to know if the job you've been offered is a good enough fit for you that you'll actually enjoy it... call Johnson O'Connor immediately.
