Woodcrest Villa is independent living, the "Mennonite Home" is assisted living and nursing care. Reasonably nice facility with some nice staff. The culture is quintessential Lancaster County Mennonite...cloistered with a limited viewpoint and an ineffective understanding of what it means to run a large facility and provide service. There is historically, and unfortunately, a high turnover of employees in the two facilities (independent living and long term care) on both sides of Harrisburg Pike. This issue predated the CoVid years. My family member once nicknamed them the "Mennonite Mafia" and he nailed it. While they encourage family advocacy, they are not equipped to handle it.... and there is a degree of retribution. There's lots of competition in Lancaster County, so be sure to check all your options for senior life care.

During Covid, the residents were kept isolated with little stimulation, causing even greater mental health and health concerns. Been to the Community bowling alley (free when accompanied by a resident) that has some arcade games (free) and ice cream shop. There are other amenities open to the WV Community that aren't housed in the main building as well.

They do things like changing the meal plan without input from the residents. They are supporting the construction of a very large residential building in downtown Lancaster which is selling slowly and the current residents of WV are concerned that at some point the cost, if not fully sold will have to be picked up by the current WV residents. The administration tries to cover this up. The weekly paper, The Insider, has several errors and should have a proofreader before it is distributed to the residents. What about Chautauqua Hall? It is a wonderful building on our grounds but cannot be used in the winter. not heated or in the summer, no a/c. This would be a better way to spend our money so that the current residents could use it year round.

But when we toured Paramount Senior Living and met with Starla Press, Director of Admissions and Marketing, we were immediately impressed. Starla spent an enormous amount of time patiently answering our questions and asked many, many questions about our sister and her specific needs. Then she went to the hospital the very next day to meet with our sister and talk with her directly. It was so very clear that Starla was interested in making this work for us and our sister - more than any other community that we met with!! So what makes Paramount Assisted Living so special and superior over other similar communities? It's the people. From Starla - to Olivia Perry, LPN, Resident Care Manager - to Shiryl Stanley in accounting... everyone who works there puts the patient and their family first. When I call to ask a question or discuss my sister's care, they go above and beyond to help. They also know who I am and more importantly, who my sister is and how she is doing. This is a beautiful community and my sister raves about the food!!! She looks forward to all of her meals in the dining room and rates then 5-star. My sister went from a picky, non-eater to actually starting to gain a pound! My wife and I moved to Woodcrest Villa one year ago. We have a beautiful two bedroom, 5th floor,…read moreapartment. We love it here, as does our dog Mona. There are plenty of activities, clubs, exercise classes, committee's, and entertainment to keep us busy. There is free transportation to the nearby Park City Mall, super markets, Leisure Lanes Bowling, Walmart, and Central Market to name a few. The food in the Garden Cafe for breakfast & lunch and dinner in either of the formal dining rooms has been excellent !!! The variety and quality of food is second to none. We eagerly await the opening of the new Viva Centre, which will house a new swimming pool, 300 seat theater, exercise area, and more. It will be the center of activity for all of Woodcrest Villa.
