Health care providers are also nearby and food can be prepared in the kitchenette in her apartment. There are movies and games scheduled as well as musicians often in the Common Area. COVID precautons have been excellent and Rich, the general manager, has stayed on top of COVID spreading and adjusted procedures as needed to keep residents and employees safe. He, along with Kim (who plans and organizes the activities), Cheryl (the charming and accomadating Office Manager) and Craig, is the biggest asset in The Manor. Rich and staff make my mother feel like the VIP that she is! The maintainance and dining room/kitchen staff are also on point. We have been, and plan to continue to be, very pleased with the service Rich Dilello and staff have provided!

Clients are assigned to employees based on him liking someone. Very unprofessional and clients are treated with complete disrespect. Caregiver are unreliable and not caring to even call to give us a heads up with coverage problems way before the shift. We had to call them to find out at the eleventh hour they have no coverage. So its up to us to scramble for coverage. With this kind of service I'm surprised they are still in business! I give this company a NEGATIVE 10 rating!

Worked for this place for years and let me say I've been under five-six different directors and the food department is hanging on by threads. Part of management is absolute ridiculous and unfit. They treat their black staff like outsiders and the double standards is through the roof. Management sits in their office texting or on social media rather than making sure their staff is okay. They over work their black staff while their white staff do nothing. They love to plot on black workers that are actually dedicated workers to move them out. The residents are not happy with this place but if you let the President tell it they love it. The president has left the facility in debt with multiple companies and has been for years yet he makes these ridiculous purchases. The kitchen staff have to work with outdated equipment and have to wait months to years just to get things fixed or updated. read more

First of all the staff does the best possible job they can do under very adverse conditions created by the administrator. If you have loved ones in the Middletown nursing home or are planning to put a loved one there, I urge you to reconsider and take your loved ones and RUN as fast as you can to an alternate facility!!!!!!! This administrator is not concerned with your loved ones but rather out for his own agenda. I can only hope that a board member from the Odd Fellows reads this and takes the action required to restore the Odd Fellows Home to the standard which all of us have come to know and trust. This is for the board of directors of the Odd Fellows, please believe me when I tell you that you as board members are only being told what your administrator wants you to know. He is no good for the Odd Fellows!!!!! read more

Maybe you should look into the background of your current administrator. Take it on good information that leaving his position in the nursing home in Emittsburg was NOT of his own accord. HE WAS ASKED TO LEAVE! Maybe a board member should be concerned to WANT to know why. read more

Food varies from inedible to pretty good; watery soup, raw chicken, overcooked vegetables refrigerator-cold hamburger buns, on the negative side. Positives: signature salad, bacon, bisques, baked goods. Roomy with decent decor, TVs often too loud. Rehab staff very good, helpful and encouraging. All staff need to wear name tags with LARGE PRINT NAME AND POSITION, facing out please. Residents are not showered with adequate frequency.

Mine spent time in the personal care unit prior to transitioning to an independent cottage. The director, Dave Manton and his staff made all of the transitions seamless and easy. It is such an emotional process when parents give up their home to move into more long-term retirement care. The help we have received cannot be calculated in mere dollars, as it has been invaluable. We too compared other care facilities and none measured up to CC standards and quality of community. It is truly a gem of a place located in the lovely town of Carlisle, PA.

Thornwald Home

We had a very positive experience with Thornwald Home. My mom was in the hospital for 3 weeks, and…read morewas in need of a skilled nursing facility for 2+ weeks before she could transition home. Our social worker at Thornwald, Kathleen, was very supportive in our onboarding process all the way through to our transition to home health at the end of our stay. The medical staff was phenomenal in their care and ongoing support of my mom's complex needs with her wound care, and the ongoing OT and PT helped her gain the strength, balance and independence to be able to transition home safely. She also thought the food was great, the variety of the menu was wonderful, and the facility was very clean. It's never an easy situation for your loved one to need this level of care, and I have to commend all of the social workers, nursing staff and therapists that manage and triage so many needs at the same time. They truly are a blessing, and I'm so grateful for all of their support during a vulnerable time in my mom's healing process. I can't say enough good things about our experience at Thornwald.

My recommendation is aides become more familiar on how to care for patients after typical surgeries. lounge furnishings look beautiful, but are not conducive for patients after major surgery. Sharing a room after surgery is also difficult. Though my roommate and I never spoke, I constantly felt uncomfortable by either imposing on her, and vice versa. The rooms are small and again furnishings, including beds, are not fit for patients coming from some major surgeries.
