And, most of what he did to replace our roof was OK. However, in our experience with him we learned to not trust what he says - he may or may not do it. And, don't expect him to take responsibility for what he does or doesn't do. He said he would seal the corners of our rain gutter - he did. He said, he would touch-up the paint on 10 small spots on our rain gutters. He talked several times about doing it and when - he never did it. This issue was not such a "big deal" by itself, and not in our contract, but it did expose his dishonesty and made us wonder if there were other things he may have also been dishonest about in replacing the roof, having phony reviews, etc. Our contract said he was to replace the drip edge. He did, but also decided, by himself, to change the color - without our approval. Who could ever think that was a good idea? Our past drip edge color matched our fascia, rain gutter, wainscoting and house. We liked it and had never even considered changing it. But he did!!! When new shingles were being put on the house we noticed the drip edge color was off- white, instead of beige, and did not match anything - ours had matched everything. We very much had liked it that way. It now looked like a big mistake. I asked him why he had done this. He said his supplier only had 2 colors of drip edge and he did not have time to call other suppliers to find the matching one. So, he chose what he thought was the best one of the two. He actually did something this consequential that was not in our contract nor had our approval. We then expected any responsible contractor would be willing to help resolve an issue he created - and actually a responsible contractor probably would, but that was not him. Changing the drip edge after the new shingles were partly on did not seem very practical, so I suggested to him what seemed to be a reasonable solution - he could spray paint the new drip edge the same color as the prior one. He refused, and offered no other solution, leaving it for us to resolve. When dealing with a contractor, everyone has heard many times to put everything in writing and don't pay the final settlement until everything is right. My experience with J. Roofing definitely confirms that, and suggests to not only include what is to be done but also add what is not to be done. Or, just go with someone else. NOTE: A few days before submitting this review I sent a draft of it to Jose as a courtesy to him. I also told him to let me know if there was anything still undone that he would like to do before I sent this and, when completed, I would be happy to revise it. I never heard from him.

Working with On Call Roofers was good up until the project needed to be completed. Mike's team…read moresprayed a sealant on my metal roof and failed to tape or tarp our windows/siding/deck/driveway. This was my experience: I asked Mike prior to the job being complete if he'd be cleaning this up. He assured me "they'd do a thorough cleanup". After the job was "done", no clean up happened and the sealant remained. I asked Mike to clean it up. He sent his crew and they only removed the sealant from the windows I specifically called out. He then immediately invoiced me, called me and texted me for final payment. In the email and phone, his wife told me they'd put a lien on my property if I didn't pay. It had been only 4 hrs since receiving the invoice and per our contact I had 30 days to pay plus 45 until they could begin the lien process. I let them know I wouldn't be paying until the job was cleaned up (per the contract). They continued to threaten a lien on my property and that my request was a "punch list" item. I had to give them 3 options: clean it up, I'd hire someone to clean it and take it off the invoice or we'd let a judge decide. They chose option 1 and it's much better but still have sealant everywhere. I added a few photos.

Don't hire this man unless you have a great lawyer. They "fixed" the roof in 2 hours, making $500 an hour. Super crappy job. Painted the roof and the paint already peeling off and not sticking to the surface. Roof is now full of balloons made out of paint. TPO installation was also wild. To save material, no 4 inches overlap between layers, 0 inches. The TPO unglued a month after install. Under the TPO they made some deep burn marks which is how they actually damaged the surface under it and caused the leaking. After the original install they made 4 trips back all of these lasted 10 minutes repairs - completely ineffective. Roof is still leaking. It's hard to believe this is still a business - complete rip off.

I came into this project having been burned by a competitor so I was a bit cynical. This is something I didn't even think to do! Even without the insurance payout, their quote was about half the cost of the other company. Once it came time to do the work, I was in constant communication with the foreman. The guys tore off the old roof in a day and put up the new in a second day. The following morning the dumpster was gone. Again, by starting an insurance claim they put money in my pocket before they even knew if I would be a customer! I'm generally nervous about home renovations because I'm pretty dumb when it comes to this sort of thing. I believe the competitor tried to take advantage of my ignorance. I contacted the insurance company, and I was expecting to have to replace walls and carpet. They put me in touch with Utah Flood Guys, and told me that they would be able to handle the water, and just to let UFG do their thing. They knocked it out of the park!!! They arrived right on time, and were super calm and collected while I was peppering them with a whole bunch of questions and opinions. I was concerned that just a few fans would not do the job, and id be worrying about a musty smell and possibly left over water. They understood my concerns and took the time to explain the process, to put me at ease. Their equipment was quite impressive, and it was very clear early on that these guys weren't just placing fans. They knew exactly what they were doing, and they were coordinated, clean, and quiet. I can't stress enough, the piece of mind I felt while watching them work. It was super reassuring. They saved me thousands of dollars of repairs, and increased insurance claims.
