vacasa - Disgusting furniture that smelled of mold

Left a review for a home in Rodanthe, NC and when I checke on it, Vacasa only posted the positive…read morecomments. Seemed very misleading. Rented a beach house right on the ocean, which was great, but there were a lot of issues with the home. The pool was constantly full of sand and it was very dirty when we arrived. The pool serviceman didn't clean it until the next day, so we lost a day using it. Also, the pool serviceman told us he would be back to clean it again midweek, and on Wednesday, he hadn't showed, and we had to call Vacasa for service to clean it and it took until midday Thursday for it to be cleaned again. Big problem of ants in the house. We arrived and found ants on the kitchen counter. Throughout our stay, we repeatedly found ants in the kitchen (including cabinets and the microwave), and in bedrooms and bathrooms, floors, etc. throughout the house. They were everywhere in the house. We had to buy ant spray and additional ant traps in order to keep deal with them. The beach area right behind the house is very small (assume due to erosion), and while we were there, a lot of debris (wood beams, metal wires, concrete blocks) washed up right on the beach in front of the house. The amount of wood and wires laying on the beach made it a safety hazard and practically impossible to use the beach. People from the town came to check it out, bt now one removed it. Additionally, the beach sand was very dirty (black) for some reason. We basically could not use the beach by our house during our stay. Finally, the house was not cleaned well before we arrived. We found dirt/track under furniture. Don't think I will use Vacasa again.

If I could leave no stars, I absolutely would.I would never stay at this place again. My husband has…read morebeen reaching out multiple avenues to try to get someone to assist us with at least a partial refund for this trip. And we've gotten no responses from anyone doing anything with any consequence , so I guess this is our only way to get any help. We stayed from the end of May into the beginning of June for 7 days. All of these 7 days that we were in this room, we had no air conditioning. We notified them the morning after we got there as we got there late at night and noticed it wasn't working and it was very hot in the room. We notified maintenance and spoke to the property manager , he talked down to my husband as if we didn't know how to use central a c unit he then said they would send someone emergency. They never sent anyone and no one ever came the entire trip and then we went to the front office when we checked out and complained about it. And they told us that the property manager wrote something different in his notes and said that he had been by and fixed it, but no one had ever come. My older parents were in the room almost the entire trip. Having to stay out on the balcony in order to be in the area as it was unbearable in the room. It was over 80° for 5 days, straight out of our 7 day trip, we called multiple times and tried to get help multiple times and no one has done anything everyone keeps passing it off on the next website. Or group that needs to handle it, everyone keeps saying that the property manager is the one that needs to determine if they will even look at giving us a partial refund for the trip. We've heard nothing back. I Think that this company needs to be reminded that the law in maryland is that starting June 1st There has to be working AC in rental properties and it cannot go above I believe 79 or 80° in the room. It stayed above 80°, 5 days straight that we were there from June 1st all the way until the fifth, when we left, I even took pictures, and we showed it to them and they still did not listen. The blinds were broken on the balcony. When we got there, the screen for the balcony was also broken. We had to keep the doors shut because they told us not to vent the room and we had small children that we did not want accessing the balcony without permission with the broken screens. My husband and I have been bounced around from person to person trying to figure out who to talk to and everyone keeps putting it off on someone else that they need to handle it and not the person we're talking to, we keep getting dismissed and no one has handled anything we want, at least a partial refund. Because the trip was absolutely unbearable in the actual room. Not to mention that the toilet in the guest bathroom was not even bolted to the floor my elderly father almost fell off the toilet. We also noticed that there were ant traps all over the property. I guess they were trying to keep the ants away. We still did see some, but it also is summertime and most likely and not people were not staying in the property during the fall and winter. That's understandable, however, what isn't understandable, is not having AC working properly and then having a property manager that lies about coming to fix property. As I said before, my elderly parents were there in the property.Almost the entire time and no one came to fix anything. In addition to that, the day before we left, the lights went out in the kitchen and we notified that of that as well when we left. If we could have canceled and just got our money back or found somewhere else to stay, we would have done that. But being as it was through a third party rental property management company, we have just been bounced around with no solutions and no resolution. I would hope that someone would reach out after this, this is ridiculous in our opinion. Do not stay here.

Absolutely terrible experience -- DO NOT rent from Sandcastle Realty…read more After years of wonderful vacations in Bethany Beach, our family's trust in this company has been completely shattered. We've rented from Sandcastle for many years, always taking pride in leaving every home spotless and following every checkout instruction. Yet in recent years, we've faced repeated problems getting our security deposits back -- endless delays, vague accusations, and outright lies about the condition of the properties. This past summer was the final straw. After a storm from Hurricane Erin, we reached out several times to have the pool cleaned. We were ignored for most of the week, leaving the pool filthy and unusable for our kids. Still, we cleaned the house thoroughly before leaving -- wiped surfaces, swept floors, scrubbed bathrooms, and made sure everything was in better shape than when we arrived. We even took photos and video as proof. Months later, we were told we wouldn't be getting our security deposit back because the house was supposedly left a "mess." That claim is completely false -- and honestly insulting. Our family includes members with health conditions that made us extra careful about cleanliness. The whole experience has felt dishonest and exploitative. After decades of happy memories in Bethany Beach, it's heartbreaking that Sandcastle Realty has made it stressful to come here. Based on how they've handled our last few rentals, it feels like the owner, Doug, is running a scam -- taking people's deposits under false pretenses and violating Delaware law. To anyone thinking of renting from this company: beware. The home might look lovely online, but the peace of mind and trust that make a vacation special are long gone. What a sad way to end so many years of family tradition.

Despite taking pride in how we leave the properties in accordance with the check-out instructions and leaving it in immaculate condition we have experienced difficulty getting our security deposit back the last few years. Too many delays and lies on why the security deposit was not refunded has resulted in our conclusion that the owner Doug is running a scam operation taking tenants security deposit based on false allegations and in violation of Delaware law. To those reading this review and considering renting a house from this business ... BEWARE! The security deposit you pay is most likely to become a donation to Doug unless you want to retain an attorney and file suit to get it back.
