I had to come in here for regular visits for years (I definitely remember coming here as far back as middle school) as we corrected a poor bite and crooked teeth in an overcrowded mouth. My poor parents paid more than I want to know to get my pearly whites fixed up. But man, it was worth it. These guys definitely did an amazing job with my teeth! As far back as I can remember the staff here have been awesome, friendly, and worked as quickly as they could to help everyone who's come in for an appointment. And that great staff is super important, because without them getting your teeth poked and prodded and painfully adjusted over time could have been an extremely miserable experience. But as painful as some of my orthodontic memories are, I can definitely say I never dreaded going to an appointment, so seriously, kudos to the staff! Also, kudos to them for dealing with me, because even if I never dreaded an appointment I definitely came in a couple times feeling super cranky because of the pain involved with my treatments. I'm sure little me acted badly at one point or another, but they don't hold it against me. :) They don't slack on maintaining their lobby and building, either. Honestly the place looks as pristine as it did when they moved into their current location. Their office is bright, clean, and filled with a mix of cartoons, art sketches and Pittsburgh photography - it's an eclectic mix but it works. As of late they finally ditched the office arcade game but I guess if everyone has a cell phone now there's not as big a need to provide something for the kids to do while they wait for their appointments. So seriously, if anyone deserves 5 stars, it's this place. They work hard and every fellow patient I've met has great results to show for it. Thanks for the great smile, guys!

I had a severe underbite, extra teeth, snaggle tooth, scurvy...you name it, my mouth had it. (kidding about the scurvy). I was 10 years old when I first saw Dr. Good, and my teeth were CRAZY. Let me also mention that when I was 10 years old I was one pretty difficult kid who refused to listen to anything the orthodontists or my parents had to say, was difficult to treat, fought everything they did literally tooth and nail. Drs. Good are patient, kind, understanding, and because my treatment took a very long time (bc my teeth were JACKED UP), developed a relationship with my family. Really all I have to say is look at my profile picture. That smile? All Drs Good. Seriously. Best orthodontists in town. Great with children! How would I know? Well, I would know. I once kicked at Dr. Good and then attempted to get up and flee the chair. I really did not want my braces adjusted. Then there was the time Dr. Good said, "So you like Jolly Ranchers..." Me: "How do you know?" Dr. Good, pulls the back bracket off my molar, which has a huge chunk of Jolly Rancher stuck to it. They are GREAT with kids. And they do fantastic work. They also mailed her her own paperwork which included a survey of her hobbies and interests, personal info about the orthodontist (wife, kids, etc.), and an explanation of what to expect at her appointment. The night before the appointment, Dr. Mayberry himself called me to discuss any concerns we might have. The office is bright, cheerful, kid-friendly but not over the top. The staff is warm and welcoming. Trudy took us into the exam room and explained everything that we would need to know. Dr. Mayberry came in and completed her exam. He was kind and reassuring. He patiently answered all of my daughter's questions. Then he showed us her x-rays and photos on a large monitor and explained the treatment goals. He showed animated videos of the process so my daughter will know what to expect. I have never been in any medical office where an individual patient seemed like the most important priority of everyone's day. Dr. Mayberry has truly raised the bar.

So, I needed to find my children a new provider. This was (and still is) quite an upheaval. Now for the bigger issue. My husband has had considerable work done at Precision on Perry Hwy. We have incredibly good dental insurance (90%). Between what insurance has paid, and what we have paid out of pocket (thousands at a time), we are up to approx 20k paid to this doctor (my est is actually higher, but let's say 20k for good measure). Hubby has had crowns, implants, etc. He likes Dr. Modic (as do I). My issue is that their "policies and procedures" cross the line from policy to vultures. On my first real work done there, I was given a treatment plan that looked very different from my husband's. His was broken down by the appt and procedure line by line. Mine had a small breakdown in the middle that I failed to understand. I had a temp crown put on, and was told that I had to pay the 10% up front. Huh? No one said this when all the paperwork was signed. No, it was buried in the fine print that all payments are due immediately. Ok, fine. I didn't have my card on me (a new one was literally in the mail due to fraud). Rather than wait for my permanent crown to hit me for the $120 I owed (My payment was 10%. The other 90%, or $1200-ish, was paid by the insurance co), they called my husband at work 5 minutes after I left the office and demanded payment! He was busy and could not help them at the time. So, I went in today (I just got my card) and paid the bill. I expressed my thoughts after I asked her to review my husband's chart to see how much money we have paid this practice in 2 years. I understand the need for payment. I even understand getting it up front for the most part. I understand when I'm told that the payment is covering the cost of the crown to be made. They sound as if the $120 is paying for the crown. Apparently they are forgetting about the other 90% they get when the bill is given to my insurer! However, when you have a family that pays THIS much, you'd think that you'd be treated like more than just a blank check. Nope. Doesn't matter. I now know that people don't matter in this practice.. its money, money, money. Sad, cause Dr. Modic is a likeable fellow, as are his assistants. Oh, and let me add that I have owned my practice in mental health since 2017. I've never called a regular, long term patient (or another family member who joined in my practice) over insignificant amount of money. I get paid from the insurance co, same as the doctor here. If someone needs to ride their copay for a few weeks, then fine.. I know my people and the ones who have been my "bread and butter" are recognized, and additional latitude given because that's just GOOD BUSINESS. I can be treated like a blank check anywhere. At least lie to me and make me feel like you care about more than just your payment!
