To preface, this is my first time writing a review, let alone a negative one! After being a patient here for over three years, I'm done. Suburban Dental sells faulty products and is an unaccommodating cash grab. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The office manager will not get on the phone to speak with me, despite making unreasonable financial decisions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Additionally, they provided incorrect information regarding my insurance coverage, argued with me and then dismissed me when I tried to explain that my insurance provided partial coverage--then required that I pay in full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As a sanity check, I called my insurance provider for a second time to confirm coverage, and then called Suburban Dental the following day to explain that I was creating a claim. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The office manager then offered to create a claim for me. Their procedures do not make any sense; why did I have to go through all of this trouble to begin with?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]   To explain why I say 'faulty products': I've purchased three different retainers--not because I just adore retail therapy--but because they kept partially cracking upon removing them. Their retainers are a very delicate, thin piece of plastic that I am very careful with removing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I even asked their hygienists to show me how to properly take them out to prevent breakage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, within approximately 3 years of owning them, the bottom retainer broke after having it for ~1.5 years, and the top retainer broke after ~2.5 years. As a comparison, I had a previous retainer from a different dentist that lasted over 10+ years and never had any issues.   To explain why I say 'cash grab' and 'unaccommodating': The first time my retainer cracked, I was charged full price ($225) and was 'conveniently' informed afterwards that I could have brought in the molds from when they first created them and only been charged a 'discount' of $125. Considering the fact that they created my retainer, had my molds on file and knew I was unaware of this perk, it seems this was a way to take advantage of a patient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Recently, my top retainer broke and I relayed this information to a receptionist who tried to plea my issue to the office manager, who refused to speak with me on the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite initially overcharging me and distributing a faulty product, I was told I'd have to pay another $125 for a top retainer. I feel that because both retainers cracked the same way within such a short period of time from simply removing them, they should've been accommodated for. For the $450 price point (I am now investing $800 into retainers), the quality of the products combined with the lack of professionalism and accountability from this management is unacceptable and arguably exploitative.     This practice clearly refuses to provide ethical, quality care to their patients. I'll be finding a different dentist, and I hope this message prevents others from wasting their time and money! read more

I was fitted with both upper and lower partials. They were about 3 weeks late and the the dentist and staff was absolutely no help in finding or solving the problem.. After having the lower dentures for about a month they still hurt every time I chewed food. After a couple of adjustments which they charged me for, which I didn't feel was right since they didn't fit properly from the beginning. After all, they were the ones who did the impressions. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The last time I was in for a cleaning the dentist was very condescending When I told him my gums were very sore, he said that he didn't see anything without even looking in my mouth[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I tried to show him the problem he said "I don't have time for this today".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They certainly had time to process my payments. Two days later one of the top teeth came out of my top plate and they could not see me for three days. Before the appointment they called me and said Delta Dental longer would cover their practice. My dentist was Dr. Stephen Charnitski. I am a 75 year old veteran and don't deserve this type of disrespectful and aggravating treatment. My dentist fixed my issue and made sound recommendations on a treatment plan. Overall, the experience was so great! read more

We have to make early morning appointments due to work schedules and more often than not, the orthodontist is late. Today she was 30 minutes late and we were rushed out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I feel like it's very disrespectful of everyone's time and would appreciate it if a concerted effort was made to keep appointments on time[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] when patients are expected to do the same. read more

My first visit was very good. The hygienist did a wonderful job of cleaning, which had been substandard at my previous dental provider's office. She recommended areas to watch for heavy plaque and which brush to use on my electric toothbrush. The doctor who did the exam was very professional and very nice. She explained the next visit and then came up with a solution that had been botched by my last dental provider. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The office workers were very helpful and they checked on insurance immediately to see what my copay will be for my next visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]All the staff were very friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I look forward to continuing with this dental provider. read more

I have been coming here with my family for several years now. But today was the last straw and we will not be coming back here. All future appointments are canceled. I expect to pay what I'm told. If they said they checked the insurance and tell me what is not covered and what I need to pay...why do I always end up having a balance? This place charges ridiculous amounts for what they do. And don't come on here saying it was an estimate because it was not. I made it clear I want to know the exact amounts after insurance. I made it clear I do not want any surprises. Find out what is covered with the insurance before I come back. I was never told it was an estimate. I was told what the true costs was. But yet here I am again and again with a balance. I feel like they have been scamming me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a "I do not care" attitude and take no responsibility.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can mention several other reasons why we will not come back here but this review would be too long. I have been giving them chances because they do a good job cleaning, but it's just not worth it. The location was very convenient but I do not care. Patient care is not near the top of the list for this office. For expressing my desire to not get an xray during my latest checkup; I was supposed to endure a lecture from both the hygienist and the dentist. At my age I believe I know the 'risks' after being told once. It was quite clear the biggest risk was to the income of the office. Even the office staff gave me a hard time after the exam stating things contrary to what the dentist told me. Terrible - lucky they got 1 star. read more

I had my teeth cleaned.The dental hygienist went over my teeth,she was concerned I wasn't flossing hard enough around each teeth and brushing hard enough so that the plaque and smoking doesn't build up on teeth and inner mouth.I'm very glad that she expressed her concerns,now I need to take the advice to still have my own teeth until I'm 100 yes old.The ladies in the office was exceptionally great.I made my next cleaning appt with ease.Thank you Suburban Dentist for having great staff members.I would reccomend Suburban for all your cleaning,surgical needs,implants,ect.your in good hands with Suburban dental. read more

You have to wonder how much they value patient care. The dentist is extremely impersonal and spends little to no time to talk with you to explain producers or care. You have to wonder if they are just trying to make a buck. Would not recommend to anyone read more

An overall weird experience I had here. I went in for a normal cleaning and everything was fine. Six months later I go in for a cleaning and they tell me some of my fillings are "bad". The fillings were only done two years ago and I experienced no discomfort or problems. The explanation was pretty terrible but they are the professionals so I trusted them. I got all of my fillings at the same time at my previous dentist only 2 years before. I couldn't understand how some were bad and others weren't since I got them all at the same time. I'm now 100% sure this was a money grab and a completely unnecessary procedure after speaking with other people who used to use this dentist office. The other fillings are still completely fine from the dentist before. I would definitely recommend not using this office from my overall experience with them. read more

I've been going to this office for the last 13 to 14 years till now. I had a service done on August which I paid out of my pocket. While I was on the chair waiting the dentist assistant offered me a different procedure for which was the one I agreed to pay on the check out for $100.00. When she was done she says to me that the dentist said everything was fine that I was free to go. At this point I got mad because it seemed to me that she never told the dentist what was done to me and I told her that every time she took care of me she always tried to sell me something which is true. At the check out the clerk was charging me for the procedure that I agreed to and the one that was never done so I only paid what I agreed to. They billed my insurance for everything I filed a claim against them and I don't know how they did but the insurance came back on their side I will never go back to this office again. Another story: I have a person very close to me that was the one who recommended them to me. In this case the person went for another procedure that the person paid $1,000.00 the body rejected the procedure and this was over a year ago and they still haven't refunded the money and they don't even call anymore. Another patient that will never go back to this office. It will be nice that the insurances investigate further this office billings. You don't charge patients or the insurance for procedures that were never done. read more

I have left this practice and will never return. DISGRACEFUL. They charged me $50 for missing a few appointments DURING QUARANTINE when I was dealing not only with personal issues which were directly related to the pandemic but also out of fear when cases would spike again. This occurred way before vaccines were even close to being developed and I don't know anyone who would have been comfortable being unmasked in a dentist's chair with their mouth open while particles are flying all around from drills and sprays and suction and evertything else. Absolutely disgraceful. I've known a few other people who have left them for their poor business practices also and now I know why. They also recommend unnecessary procedures just to collect more money. That's all they care about. They recommeneded a crown for a tooth that was completely unecessary which I declined. Surprise, surprise, it's totally fine and was not necessary at all. There are far better options out there. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Enjoy your lousy $50. Good riddance. read more

I was very pleased with the professionalism of the staff. My mother moved here from NJ and was hesitant to switch dentists. Both the hygienist and the dentist provide care above what I expected. My daughter needs to switch dentist and I highly recommended that she switch to Suburban. read more

Everyone was really nice and have no complaints on the people there working. They are on time and polite. I do however do not feel the customer should have to pay an additional 10.00 because of the protective wear their staff has to wear. That is part of being in business. I do understand that COVID came out of know and small businesses are suffering but they did provide the PPP loan and other funding to help you all stay afloat. I just feel that the customers should not have to pay an additional expense when we are already tight as it is. As for keeping the customer feeling safe- I would rate a 10/10 as they have you wash your hands, rise and take your temperature when you arrive. They also ensure you have your mask on while walking through the building. No complaints there as you are following all the required guidelines. Nice work! read more

This place was amazing before changed hands!! Now they do more then normal for regular procedures that aren't necessary and easy insurance money!! I have been a patient for 21 years and now I will be sending new owner letter of thanks but no thanks!! Pushing things that aren't necessary before a teeth cleaning come on!! No wonder health insurance is out of control it's money hungry pigs that abuse people and try to bully them!! I will not tolerate or support a business like this!! When they first took over they had to take blood pressure before teeth cleaning not there problem maybe it's your primary duty!! They have too many toys and want us to pay for them! Awful. All they want is money. Every time I went for a teeth cleaning, both the dentist and hygienist tried to sell me on Invisalign. I had braces as a teenager--two of my teeth have slightly shifted, but otherwise my teeth are straight. I finally told them to write in my chart to NOT ask me about Invisalign again. I also supposedly had a cavity. I decided not to get it filled. When I went back for my annual cleanings, they never mentioned it! At one appointment, they actually referenced that I had a cavity filled a year ago--never happened! Lastly, my son needed a filling. They called me a few weeks prior to his appointment and told me it would cost $28 with our insurance. He got the filling and then I got a bill for $98. I called and asked about it and they told me that they used a white filling instead of silver, so that's why it was more--yet they never mentioned this at the appointment nor on the call. They are the worst and I would never recommend to anyone. And just to show how money hungry they are, they are now charging $20 for PPE. read more

The doctor is good but the staff have poor customer service. There was no warm welcome or introduction. She stated my name told me to wash my hands and rinse my mouth. The hygienist was sloppy with the water and splashed it on my face and neck and didn't clean it off or stop to allow me to do it. She sat with her back towards me while I waited for the doctor. The girl at the checkout was very rude and I couldn't hear her with other conversations in the room and the glass between us. I said "I'm sorry what was that?" This was my first visit. I was amazed I was seen on time. That's a first. One of the reason I don't go to the dentist is because of the long waits. The staff is friendly and efficient. Not really worth the second star, but I threw it in there because I USED to be happy with them. I used to be really happy with this place. I am a fairly new patient and was very impressed with my first visit in 2018. Completely different story for my last visit a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if the experience was a result of the pandemic, but, if this past visit was my first visit, I would never go back. The hygienist must have been new. Not only to the practice, but to the profession. My visit was a complete fail in every way. I seriously think it should not even have been billable to my insurance. This only part of the visit that was norm was polishing of my teeth. Everything they do before that (when they scrape them and it's really uncomfortable, but is totally worth it in the end) yea, that wasn't even done properly. She did a few teeth and stopped. Because she was carving my gums! And to top off the worst dental exam ever, they are charging every patient $10 for the cost of PPE. Seriously. read more

They are not worthy of any stars!!!! Worst place ever!! My husband and I both had root canals done, and we both were in pain. I went back a few weeks later, and was told to see an endodontist. My husband decided to deal with the pain until recently and was told this place is horrible by the endodontist, and even said that he has to fix their work all the time. My husband had to have his tooth pulled. They are only interested in making money and can care less about the patients. The office staff is unfriendly and they have no idea what they are doing!! I had a filling done. It wasn't a great experience. They started by numbing me, which is all good, but I wasn't fully numbed. They started drilling and I indicated that it was quite painful. Instead of numbing the area again, the dentist went to get another, rougher drill to keep scraping the tooth. After that, they were not gentle with the installation of the white filling. Again, I winced and indicated pain, but I just got we are almost done hang in there. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I know that tooth work can be painful but in the past when I had extra pain, they renumbed the area and it was a bit better. Also, while they were waiting for materials to get the filling done, they were talking about cutting back their hours and how they wanted to go home and have their longer days shorter. I get it, that we are all humans and we don't necessary want to work long hours but talking bitterly about having to work late in front of a client not the greatest customer service experience. Lastly, the were discussing other procedures that still need to be done before they left. Again, not the best experience for a patient. read more
