She has terrible headaches…read moreand back/neck pain so I was excited when I saw that the Groupon was listed as a 'neuromuscular' massage as most massage places do a general full body massage with very little focus on a theraputic model. I was confident that Christine would be able to really target her shoulders, neck, and head in a way that was beneficial. When my mother went today, she discussed her pain and requested that significant focus be put on her neck and shoulders. Halfway through the massage, Christine still hadn't even touched her neck and had barely worked on her shoulders. After multiple request by my mother to refocus on those areas rather than her legs/calves that Christine was currently working on, Christine responded with an attitude stating that she doesn't like to be told how to to do her job and 'cant spend a whole hour on a neck'. First of all, my mother was not telling her how to do her job, she was asking her to refocus her therapies on the actual area that was having pain. Second, a massage therapist should have enough techniques to be able to spend significant periods of time working on a neck/shoulders/head/upper back but, regardless, my mother wasn't asking her to spend the whole time there, she was simply asking for the therapist to move on as half of the massage had already focused on areas she did not need or want worked on. Third, I've never had an issue asking a therapist to shift to a different part of the body. When my mother tried to explain that she appreciated the massage and it was going well but she was concerned about time and was also getting very uncomfortable face down and wanted to roll over to allow Christine to work on her from a different angle that was more comfortable, Christine stated that she refused to work on my mother anymore, would refund her, and walked out of the room. Completely bewildered, my mother redressed and tried to speak with her again outside of the massage space but was met with a rude, cold, and dismissive attitude from Christine. My mom called me virtually in tears having never been treated so terribly by a professional, especially after she had been so excited to hopefully work with someone who would maybe help her feel better. I am absolutely horrified and embarrassed that I gifted her this experience. Would never, ever recommend Christine to anyone else.
