I made the mistake of being honest with women who makes his appointments and told her i was a very nervous person and i didn't want to have any procedures done in office unless the Dr Garner would ease my concerns and explain the procedure and if they were painful. The woman put me on hold and came back and said that Dr Garner didn't want to waste his valuable time and told me she wouldn't keep the appointment she made for me on 2-11-25. I told her that was unethical and maybe illegal and she put Dr Garner on the line. He reinstated the same comment his time was too valuable and it would be a waste of time. I told him maybe if he would comfort me by explaining what was going to happen then that might calm me down. He insisted that all the procedures were painful and simply refused my need to see a urologist. I even said given the choice to have pain or do nothing at all then i would bite the bullet and go through with the procedure but he said flat out NO! This guy was totally riding on his i am god almighty and dont bother to even begin to ask me any questions in person. Just because hes been doing this for years doesn't make it right. They rarely answer the phone, it's a hassle to get them to send prescriptions to the pharmacy, and they failed to inform me that the provider is no longer in-network with UnitedHealthcare. I genuinely tried to support Black-owned practices, but at this point, it's no longer about that -- it's about professionalism for me now. The provider herself is extremely rude and unprofessional. She seemed to think she could raise her voice at me without expecting a response -- but I have a voice too. I truly don't understand why some healthcare providers carry themselves as if they'll never need help from others. That kind of arrogant, abrasive attitude is both disappointing and unacceptable. Looking back, I should have left when the previous provider, Ritchie, left. She was a class act. Since then, the office has gone downhill. They expected me to make an in-person visit every time I needed an increase in my Zepbound dosage -- even after being told by the provider herself that follow-ups wouldn't be necessary for that. What shocked me most was that the provider physically put her hands on me to force me out of the office. As someone who was raised to respect my elders -- I am Haitian, and we value that deeply -- I found her behavior completely inappropriate and beyond disrespectful. I fretted so much before meeting him given the nature of my issue but he immediately put me at ease and ultimately fixed the problem with minimal "invasion." Had it required more, I'd have been very comfortable after my initial experience. Also, Christina and Jenny in the office seem to share the same friendly approach and have the ability to put you at ease immediately. For me, this type of medical need is just so personal I can't thank all of them enough. Without checking with my insurance, she informed me I needed to pay her 30% of the doctor's fee up front. I did not understand why I had to pay a separate fee for the doctor and not just my regular copay for my insurance. She collected $235.00. As I departed, she informed me that no-one ever asks any questions. While still in the parking lot, I called the insurance company who informed me the only fee I was responsible for is the $100 co-pay to the facility for my procedure. I went back up to the office to speak with Maria and she would not see me. When she came out to call a new patient, I asked her if I could talk to her and she asked me about what. I informed her that I wanted to know more about why she charged me $235.00. She said it was "in case my insurance company did not pay them." What!??! That is not what she told me in her office!! I have never had to pay up front in case my insurance company did not pay. The fact that she lied to me in the first place was suspicious. I asked to cancel my appointment and requested a refund. If you go to see this doctor, make sure you don't pay anything up front and that you check with your insurance company as to how much you are supposed to pay. Do not rely on Maria. I wonder where all that money being collected under the guise of the "doctor's fee" is really going.
