Dr. Mendrinos while working on my teeth, with her grinding tool twice injured my lower lip. This happened while she was pulling the hand of her assistant to locate the suction tool in the right place in the mouth. There was no dental hygienist in the office for at least 5 years, therefore, there was no comprehensive examination/cleaning on my teeth. On her guard, I lost 4 of my teeth as a result of not having a Hygienist to perform a comprehensive exam. On every visit, I was never provided with a statement to indicate work performed on my teeth and the charges for the visit.

So my old dentist, Dr. Lee at Dentistry First had closed down and I hadn't seen a dentist since. However before he closed he did tell me I had moderate periodontal disease. His hygienist told me to get braces so that way if I go to get a gum graph my life would be simple. So I listened. I got braces from Savage Visser and Sabol. (recommend them too) So fast forward to today. Of course as Dr. Lee said, moderate periodontal disease. I already knew. My hygienist today was Josh. He was so gentle. I was extremely scared since it had been a couple of years. He took X-rays and the cleaning was super quick. Hurt a bit because I have a sensitivity to cold. Dr. Folck came in to see me, though I have a bit of issues, he was as sweet as can be and he gave me a recommendation to see a periodontal specialist to give me a gum graph. I can't wait for that because after that I know I'll have beautiful bright white teeth! I highly recommend. I drove all the way from the Kempsville area to go here. Worth the gas.

Apparently if you don't…read morerespond via text message by 3pm TWO DAYS before your scheduled appointment, they cancel your appointment. I am very familiar with text/ email reminders, or confirmations of medical appointments, but I have never experienced a policy like this one that literally cancels your appointment two days before. What if people are working or traveling and don't get the message until after 3pm? Also, maybe this was in the fine print, but I was never informed of such a ridiculous policy. I also don't appreciate the limited hours of operation. Maybe it works for a stay at home house wife, but for anyone running a business, or working long hours it's just not convenient, or practical. Another issue is that they require you to pay up front for services, and then you have to wait for your insurance to reimburse you. Another inconvenience. Finally, they have made a lot of investments in new technologies, such as the sonic cleaner and they require/ prefer for you to use the uncomfortable devices, even when you request hand scaling. At my last cleaning I asked the hygienist if she could just do hand scaling because the sonic device is uncomfortable and causes more TMJ pain. Her response was, "why don't we compromise and do half and half." It made me feel pressured to concede, and likely she is being pressured/ encouraged to use this device on patients. I'm sure Coastal Cosmetic Dentistry has plenty of business, and lots of 5 star reviews, but it's hard to imagine that I'm the only patient that's been put out by the items mentioned above. You might want to at least give your patients a heads up that you require a response two days before your scheduled appointment to keep the appointment.

They also have kept money for service they didn't provide which was thousands of dollars, I'll be handling that but to help you out and avoid this nonsense . Dr. Sinclair is unprofessional, and snarky. They will fluff up the initial appointment to make it feel like they care about anything else other than over billing you. Absolutely get other opinions. This last 4 years of going here has been a nightmare . My temporary work was very badly done, the cheap temporary caps were so flimsy, the amount of cracks, and chips on temporary material exposing the real tooth. I've seen this man on several occasions and he never not once tried to fix it . I paid a lot of money for this unprofessional low budget work. I am beyond unsatisfied and disappointed. I hope nobody goes through this.
