For someone that is pretty young and has severe dental anxiety due to a past traumatic experience,…read moreI had one of the BEST dental experiences ever this past Tuesday! For a little background knowledge, I got the Right side of my wisdom teeth removed at a dental office in Texas and I was supposed to get my left side done along with a crack tooth. However I was in so much pain at this dental office IN TEXAS, I never got my cracked tooth and my left wisdom teeth extracted. A couple weeks back I experienced extreme pain from the cracked tooth, this pain was highly uncomfortable leading me to have an emergency appointment with my actual dental office. They ended up referring me out to a oral surgery office called Bayside however they wouldn't be able to see me until January. I knew my pain was so intense and that if I let the tooth stay in my mouth any longer, I possibly could've died if a infection would've got to my bloodstream. Fortunately, at the emergency appointment, I was told there was no infection or abscess, but the tooth was truly dead, and there was no saving to it due to how deep the crack was. The cracked tooth had been in my mouth for roughly 2 and a half years after my first experience, I was so scared and frightened to go to any doctors office however, upon researching, I found Dr. Flock's office, and I read reviews, and I really took a leap of faith off of the great reviews, and I am here to report back what amazing experience that I had. From the beginning to the end, the two ladies, Mrs. Jennifer and Mrs.Crystal at the front desk are absolute, sweethearts! Those two ladies helped me tremendously, especially me being so young and navigating life in general. This being my first time getting IV sedation and using my husband's insurance as a newly married couple, I was pretty nervous. I would call the office so many times asking for information and how much my insurance would cover to get all the information I wanted in order to be prepared. these two ladies were absolutely respectful and so professional not once did they ever give me an attitude over how many questions I asked how many times I called, these ladies are truly outstanding front desk, receptionist! Due to my severe pain, I opted for the same day consultation and extraction. I got my left wisdom teeth and my cracked tooth removed and I am on day three and I literally feel little to no pain. like AT ALL just swollen. The pain truly is a 1 out of 10. I did get IV sedation, and I was so freaking nervous, the machine that was tracking my heart rate was beeping nonstop, that the nurse said by the time I have the procedure I'm going to be tired from being so nervous lol. Dr. flock and his wonderful dental assistant reassured me and conversed with me to calm my nerves, and it definitely helped. Dr. Flock is VERY professional and communicated to me the whole time he explained how my teeth were perfectly in the great position to get them out and that the procedure wouldn't take long at all. I literally felt like the procedure was 10 minutes and I kept asking after the procedure, "are you sure you got everything" lol because it was that fast to me. I am truly amazed by how professional, Dr. Flock and his staff truly are. I did have to pay a good portion even with my insurance coverage however, that is something I would do over and over again due to how greatly and professionally I was treated! I truly never experienced any dental visit like this, in the beginning I was very nervous, but they talked me through it and he communicated whenever he was getting ready to inject the medication into my IV and next thing I was laying in the dark with a nice blanket in the dark and the light switched on, and I was done lol. thank you Dr. Flock, Mrs. Jennifer, Mrs. Crystal, and the lovely dental assistant that was with Dr. Flock for my procedure! You all are highly professional and skilled individuals, and I would recommend everyone, especially people with severe dental anxiety to be seen by this office. 1000/10!!!!! I felt so welcomed and reassured!!

*surgery day review*…read more To start I want to say that I scrutinize every organization I write about. Please know that my scrutiny is not to be mean but to make sure I'm providing an honest and well written review. This establishment is pretty amazing--that is an understatement actually. We arrived the morning on time for a 9am appointment. My son was brought back promptly and the pre surgery set up began immediately. My son (who was the patient) stated that doctor and the tech were incredibly nice, professional and treated him with patience. While I sat in the lobby the tech Heather came out, said everything is all set and ready to go, then went back to the room. That small peace of mind was reassuring. While waiting the hour it took for the 4 wisdom teeth extraction I drank coffee provided in the lobby Keurig. The only downfall and it is a slight one, is that I carried my coffee trash with me because I could not find a trash can, even a small one. My son asked to keep his teeth and he was able to keep the ones that did not break in the extraction process. When the removal was over I was brought back to the recovery room and Heather did a fantastic job going over the procedures for the next couple days. I won't lie I didn't remember a lot because there was just so many dos, don'ts, make sure you don't forget, sleep this way, don't sleep that way etc. When my son stood up Heather had him grab her arm and she patiently waited for him to get all the way up, had him take a deep breath and then started walking slowly. My son held onto Heathers arm as she held onto the loop of his pants (with his permission of course) and they slooooowly walked to the car. When they got outside Heather asked my son to stand for a moment and take a deep breath in to make sure he was able to acclimate to the outside and still being a little weird from anesthesia. Heather walked him all the way to the car, she is absolutely amazing and I mean that 107%! That evening the office called to check on my son before they closed. The office was closed on Wednesday and when they reopened on Thursday I called with questions. The staff was so sweet answering the pieces of info I forgot from the day of the removal. A couple days go by and I have more questions and a concern on Friday. An appt was made for my son to come and see the doctor for a quick check up, he was reassured that he was healing well and all looked good. One week post surgery, I called with another slight concern, Heather answered and we both laughed because I was calling AGAIN however she was incredibly kind with her answers. I will recommend this oral surgeon and staff again and again and again. Don't take my word for it, get a consult yourself when you are in need.

I had a major emergency procedure done with 4 wisdom teeth to be removed as well as 5 impacted molars and Dr Byrnside and her staff were better than I could've hoped for. I was very nervous going in but the procedure was quick they accommodated scheduling, reassured me throughout the process and even followed up and helped through the recovery process. Assistant Corra and Tracy at the front were both very caring and made the experience much easier and less stressful. 10/10

I'm not much of a reviewer but I thought my experience could help prevent someone from going…read morethrough what I continue to go through years later because of this doctor. In 2016 I had my upper jaw reconstructed/realigned by Dr. Mueller. I thought he was a godsend at the time because he made me love my smile/face. 11 months later, according to him, "my body rejected the bone graft placed." And I quickly went into surgery to fix that under his care. 4 years after initial surgery, I blew my nose and a screw comes out followed by bleeding that wouldn't stop for awhile. I called and I was told "this is normal." 3 years ago as I type this, I had swelling in my face and was living in Nevada at the time so I found a new oral maxillary facial surgeon out there and he had to put me in nearly emergency surgery to remove some hardware that was infected. This new surgeon also stated he never heard of a screw coming out of a nose after a jaw surgery. Sometime between then and now: two root canals because at least two teeth's roots were hit during the 2016 surgery and my teeth were now dying. August 2024: I had a draining fistula in my mouth near my scar tissue from the previous surgeries. I flew from Virginia to Nevada to see the new surgeon because no surgeon in Virginia will take on my case. Again I went into emergency surgery. We quickly found that Dr. Mueller put a screw into my #7 tooth (one that was attempted to save by root canal). My body had been rejecting the tooth so badly that the infection ate so much bone. I now have a huge hole in my mouth from the bone loss. 2 weeks later, I have to go into emergency extraction of that tooth. Last week, we find another infection above tooth #10 from a screw being drilled into it (the other tooth that was attempted to save by root canal). So we are planning on extracting that one in early 2025. Today, I meet with multiple doctors/surgeons nearly weekly and across the country to try to find a plan to help the bone loss and find a permanent option for the missing teeth. Many doctors/surgeons nearly hold my hand as they say "I'm sorry you're going through this and will continue to." I've had surgeons say, "I wish you found us back in 2016." I was never warned I would deal with this almost the rest of my life. I paid Dr. Mueller out of pocket because "insurance says it's cosmetic." I've paid $100's of thousands on my mouth and have probably double that in costs ahead of me because of Dr. Mueller's work. If you've made it this far, get a second opinion away from Dr. Mueller. My surgery by him is my biggest life regret.

I think he really likes what he does and it shows in the detail and care he provided. My first visit there was 2 weeks ago for a broken tooth. I'm 55 years old and it's the first time in my life at a dentist that I didn't feel a thing. Not even the needle for the numbing. I thought he hadn't even done it yet because my eyes were shut and I didn't feel a thing. I have a bad needle phobia and Dr. Joe found out about it and always let me know before a needle is going to come into my field of vision so I can shut my eyes. So I never even saw one the whole time! I was a very happy person. Kelly is his dental assistant and she informed me that she's been doing this for about 25 years. She's knowledgeable, she's kind and gentle, and she's funny! She's the kind of person you just know is great with kids, the elderly, and anyone in between. Most of all she's very talented and good at what she does to assist Dr. Joe - she was reading his mind as he was working on me and it was easy to tell that she knows her job inside and out. Both Kelly and Dr. Joe explained everything clearly they were going to do to repair my broken tooth, root canal, crown, etc. , how long it would take, and everything about it. I didn't feel even the first needle go in to numb me, AND I didn't have even an ounce of pain from the root canal. Nothing. Nada. It was a blessed relief. My kids are grown now but if I had to do it over again I'd definitely have taken them here instead of the very bad experiences we had at other dentists. Because of those previous bad experiences elsewhere, I was afraid to even go to another dentist but when my tooth broke I didn't have a choice. So I chose Konikoff on Lynnhaven Pkwy because it was in my general area where I live. When I went in for the first time two weeks ago, I was very uncomfortable and fearful. I had no idea what to expect, and have the fear of needles on top of it. Dr. Joe and Kelly did everything necessary to help me feel calm and in good hands. And as it turned out, I was in GREAT hands! Thank you Dr. Joe and Kelly and Konikoff Dentistry at Lynnhaven Pkwy! You're my dentist from now on. I have told my grown kids about it too, and will recommend them to anyone who asks if I know a good dentist. I know a great one! FINALLY!

I will be back every 6 months without fail. Thanks for helping me to overcome a fear I have had since childhood.
