A little while later, it fell off, and I had to go to retrieve it. It turned out to be a cheap paper advertisement from this realtor, Kelly Laird Smith. I decided to call her, and explain nicely why she should not be sticking her advertising on people's gates, and how she is breaking the law. I also told her that many realtors in the area mail their brochures, and she is showing her lack of professionalism. Instead of thanking me for my input, and apologizing for putting trash on my property, she said in an indignant tone, "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!" Class is how you act when no one is looking. Realtors are a dime a dozen. Look elsewhere. Update I see a response from this realtor this evening. Ms. Laird Smith is giving false information about our conversation today. She DID NOT ask for my address, she simply got hostile, and stated, "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO." If she had simply apologized, asked for my address, and promised to not stick flyers on our gate in the future, then we would have been satisfied. It is indeed illegal to place flyers on people's private property. We get glossy brochures mailed to us almost every day from other realtors. What do you think about a realtor who sticks a piece of cheap paper on your gate, and then gets nasty when you nicely call them out on it, and then lies on Yelp? It's irrelevant about the family situation of the boy who stuck the paper on our gate. Ms. Laird Smith could have hired him to mow her lawn, or perform other tasks for her.

When the County of Maui did find her listing 2 months ago, she rejected their certified mail demanding her to cancel her listing. The fact that she knowingly rented her home illegally in West Maui where there has been a housing shortage for residents for decades is disgraceful but that she continued to rent it after the Lahaina fires is disgusting. Families continue to be displaced to the mainland & the other side of the island, a 2 hour commute with traffic because there are not enough homes to rent or buy in West Maui. Instead she profited immensley off her illegal rental until just recently when she was forced to take her listing off AirBnb. The community of West Maui is aware of her actions and have requested that she right her wrongs by using her illegal revenue to help the Lahaina community or the neighborhood where her home is located. She has yet to follow through.
