We stopped by Leila's to try some things on the menu. Its a store and restaurant with different Middle eastern foods, breads, drinks, and etc. When we walked in we were greeted and offered menus. We got the chicken gyro, chicken tawook, and beef gyros. I also ordered a side of rice and tatziki with pita chips. The prices are very reasonable.. I went and waited in the car. The food was ready in about 8 minutes and the gentlemen brought it out to my car, which was very nice. I liked the chicken gyro. It was different textures because of the toppings with a good taste and crunch. The chicken tawook was also good. I liked the beef as well, it was tender and the sauce on it was good. The hummas and tzatziki sauce tasted good also. It made the gyros better. I like that the gyros are rolled kinda long and thin so its easy to eat without everything spilling out. You could easily eat it and drive. The rice was cooked just right. It had no flavor at all, but it was somehow still good... I'd return to try other things. If your looking to try some different foods, this is a good place to try... I got some drinks and a few were good, but one was to sweet. Simply amazing!! This was my first time in this lovely ambience, and I elected to go with the falafel sandwich. This sandwich did not disappoint on any spectrum, the flavor, the way the falafel was put together wasn't anything short of a masterpiece. I also went with the gyro platter that I haven't tasted yet, but if it's anything close to the falafel I'm in for a treat. I usually buy some of my groceries from this store and the young cashier is a very cool guy, today I bought some sweets and there was a mosquitos in it so I took the sweet back to store to let them know about it because they still had some in the store and get my refund the owner came without saying anything like sorry or excuse me he said I don't care I just picked up these sweets from another store, I said dude you are selling these so you are responsible then he start yelling like kids. I am finally writing a much-needed updated review; I have been back to Leila's and have since tried their Chicken Tawook platter and Beef Shwarma sandwich. Both dishes were cooked very well and had great flavor and they both come with a choice of little side of hummus or Baba Ghannouj Dip and pita bread and they also tasted great. We LOVE Mediterranean food and have visited many places that serve it. Sadly, our favorite closed down and we had to find another. Leila's is close by, so we gave it a shot. We ordered with delivery. The food came quickly and warm. First let me say the hummus is absolutely terrible. Our fav place was 100x better- as is my own. I'd like to think it was an off day, but I won't take the risk and order it again. It tasted like it had gone bad. Our pita bread for the humus was terrible, too. As soon as it cooled down it was, quite literally, like a cracker. HOWEVER, the beef shawarma (they were out of lamb) was absolutely divine- moist, wonderfully seasoned and generous. The gyro was very good, too, although there were a bit too many white onions. Still, it was quite good and a step up from a lot of places. My husband is a falafel connoisseur. He loved his sandwich. I tried it and thought it was better than at our old favorite place. The sandwiches came in their own individual bags with a side of olives and humus. They were out of lamb dishes and, sadly, the baklava. This is a small place with limited hours, so I got the impression that they make enough for the day and when it's gone, it's gone. Maybe, I'm wrong. I will definitely go again and try more on the menu, but I'll stay clear of the hummus, which is typically one of my favs. :( UPDATE: We have gone back several times. Family run grocery store/take out place tucked away in a strip mall on VB Blvd. if you blink, you will drive past it. If you're looking for middle eastern spices, pita bread or fresh baklava this is the place! If you time your shopping right, get lunch too! There is one table tucked away inside to eat and a few on the sidewalk outside as well. We had a large party and everyone tried something different. Wraps and platters come with side of pita and hummus. Chicken tawook, shawarma and gyro meat was all seasoned perfectly and tender without being overcooked. The hummus was smooth and creamy. Pita bread was tough and not warm. Homemade baklava could have used a little more honey or rosewater, it was a little dried out. They plan to expand next door which will greatly increase seating and allow more people to experience the wonderful tastes from this kitchen! read more

Checked out this spot on Saturday, wasn't too busy at all. I feel the real gold is regarding all the great products they have in the store for sale. As my friend shopped, I checked out the menu for food...duh! We ordered and looked around, I decided on the Chicken Tawook and the Grape Leaves. My friend took the Lamb Shwarma. When the grape leaves came out, they looked as if they might not have been good, but boy was it a game changer when I demolished two of them within seconds. I didn't care for the yogurt that came with the Grape Leaves, so I asked for a side of tzatzki sauce. The chicken and Lamb out after and boy was it good. You can tell this stuff is authentic and you can't get better than that. For some sweet bites my friend got a "mini" rose, I had to take advantage of my cheat day and eat a pistachio baklava (honestly I had to close my eyes and savor that flavor) and a bird's nest. Holy Amazing grocery batman! I found this place by accident and like a dummy, I didn't know it was here! I've lived in the area for almost 6 years and why am I only just now finding out about it ??? As you walk into the market, there is the the counter in front of you where you can order from their menu. You can eat in or take out. There are a few booths on the opposite side where you can eat. I was given a tip that ordering ahead is the way to go on their busy weekend nights. Fortunately, I was there on an off night and I had the luxury of ordering out and getting the chance to walk around the store. Now let me tell you, I was there for 15 minutes and I swear I picked up every item and brought half of them to the front... I went in for some lamb and walked out with my shawarma AND cornichons, cheese, tea, peppers, pita, more cheese, olives from the olive bar, mixed peppers, and much more... I'm SO sad about my experience! Because of a personal recommendation and the great reviews online - I just tried to order delivery from here. The main thing I wanted to try was the falafel. I ordered the falafel, spinach pie, and 2 wraps.. sadly I got a call about 10 minutes later saying they were out of half my order! I chose to cancel it because I wasn't going to pay that much including delivery and tip for just 2 wraps. Hopefully the opportunity will come for me to attempt to try this place again; but, they just opened an hour ago, so its not like they sold out that quickly - so these items shouldn't even be available to order if they don't have them. I'm actually heading there today and figured I'd go ahead and write about my past experiences at Leila's. I love it. As the name says it's a grocery and deli/kitchen. If you love exotic spices and you can't find them anywhere else, you can probably get it here. They buy in bulk and will pinch some for you if you only need to buy a little bit. I regularly will buy olives from there to snack on; I love Lebanese olives. A good variety of grains, cous cous, and dairy too. The kitchen has a good selection to choose from but the service is very slow. As mentioned somewhere else in the reviews, it's usually just one person in the back cooking and it is all to-order. The shawarma, kefta, baba ganoush, hummus, etc...is all delicious. The pricing is comparable--and actually pretty good for a small shop--to buying lunch or a sub somewhere else. Not sure how I neglected to review this place for so long, but I am correcting that oversight now. Leila's is, in my mind, the perfect place. The taste, presentation and quality of the food is tremendous, the portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. For less than you'd pay for lunch most anywhere else, you can leave here feeling both content/full and healthy. Better yet, you can shop while you wait for your order (spice prices are great), and there are five or six booths to eat at, if you prefer that over take-out. The soups. The two standard soups, chicken and lentil, are each among the very best I have ever eaten (and I have eaten some great soups). The lentil is likely the finest of its kind I have ever tried. Where some lentil soups are watery, theirs is hearty, full of flavor, and with just enough heat to notice. If you are looking for a light lunch, the soup itself would serve nicely. The chicken soup is packed with shredded chicken (a mix, but mostly white meat) and has a satisfying heat level that I didn't notice until half the bowl was gone (read: about 20 seconds, and it's a large bowl). I would happily forgo any other chicken soup for the rest of my life, if I could replace it with this. I wish that I had the recipe for both. And I can't stress enough, I feel healthy after eating them! How often can you say that about something you love, given today's typical food options? The beef shawarma is also a solid bet. It's rolled a bit thin (which I actually don't mind; especially as it comes with soup, bread and hummus and olives, at a great price), but is packed with flavor: the meat is lean, rather than fatty, and the pita around it is very lightly toasted, giving the wrap a satisfying texture. There is a very pleasant nutty background flavor, which I find most tahini fails to achieve. The hummus is, unsurprisingly, some of the best, if not the best, I have ever had. Light, nuanced and with a finishing hint of lemon. I am usually quite full by the time I turn to the hummus and bread, yet it's good enough that I can't help but eat it on the spot. Should you somehow still have room for dessert, there are several house-made options to choose from, and a few with naturally low(er) sugar. If, like me, you are at the point in life where 90% of what you once enjoyed is just too sweet to choke down, then Leila's has you covered. I no longer live near this place, which saddens me, as I seriously doubt I'll ever find a replacement. Such is life. Enjoy it for me! read more
