They have all the essentials to make any Asian dishes plus more. Fresh vegetables, seafood, some meats, cooking utensils, plates, and every can goods you can possibly imagine. A single aisle dedicated to asian snacks and goodies. Wow! this Asian store nearly has it all. The aisles, however, is very narrow and at times challenging to navigate with other shoppers. Like any other Asian establishment, the service is just ok and I think this is sometimes the norm because of the cultural differences. As you work your way in the back, a strong smell of seafood fills the air. This my go-to place to get Asian ingredients whenever I'm in VA beach. It's been over four years since my original review so this update is merited. Since my original review the store has changed ownership but it is still local and family owned and operated. COVID-19 protocols are in place and you can buy multi-packs of face masks here. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The store is pretty small, the aisles are narrow and sometimes crowded with case lots of product on the floor but all in all Four Seasons is a pretty decent Oriental grocery, one of the better ones in this area. The owners are Vietnamese but you will also find a pretty good variety of products from Thailand, China, Korea, Japan, The Philippines and other Asian countries. Most of their inventory is made up of products you will find at other local Asian grocery stores, some are priced higher than other stores, some are priced lower and some are priced the same. They carry some products that we cannot find at other stores (we love those Sriracha Sticks and Durian Creme Biscuits). If you are a regular shopper at several Asian groceries like my wife and I are you get a feel for what products to buy at which store to get the greatest value for your money. They have a big freezer section and carry a nice selection of fresh produce, canned and bottled goods, fresh fish and seafood, dry goods, baked goods, candies, a wide variety of rice (much of it in bulk), small appliances (mostly rice cookers), pots and pans, cooking utensils, dishes, kitchen items, incense, and much more. Browse through the pictures on this site and you can get a good feel for the items they carry. The store can be a little challenging to navigate through if it's crowded but it's clean and organized so it's not too bad. There are sometimes items that aren't clearly marked with a price so you may have to ask staff for the price but they're always able to give you a quick answer. There is plenty of parking in their private lot and access in and out is very easy. My wife and I shop at several area Asian grocery stores and consider Four Seasons one of our favorites due to product consistency, location and the fact that they stock almost everything we regularly seek when we are shopping. read more

Always pleasant and they keep their shelves stocked. They have everything from aromatic herbs like Thai basil to spices like Anise stars. This store can be intimidating so please come prepared with a list. There has been plenty of times where I left with nothing on my list. Smells just like home.... If my home were the 99 Ranch Market in Monterey Park or the Shun Fat Chinese Supermarket next to the Ocean Star. They are located in the same lot that Pho 79 is and is operated by Vietnamese owners. They have all the can foods, bottled ingredients, fresh produce that you would need to cook your asian meal. They have your fish and oyster sauce, all forms of soy sauce, fermented shrimp paste, all your Lee Kum Kee items, packaged curry, sriracha hot sauce, pockey sticks..... and any other stereotyped item you'd find in an asian grocery store. They have a wide fresh selection of vegetables commonly found in asian dishes and also have a fish section (but they aren't alive... but I was assured that they were fresh). They also have all the utensils/ pots and pans/ steamers/ rice cookers that you can imagine. Not to forget woks either. If you're like me from a big city where chinese supermarkets are weekly trips for your families back home, this little store will bring back memories as soon as that smell hits you when you open the front door. Sorry I didn't get the hours just yet, but I remember most of the days it closes at 9pm except Sunday probably. I'll get it next time. read more

Been coming here since I was kid. This was one of the first Oriental stores in the area, along with Fortune. Let me just say, this is the BEST place to get snacks. Snacks I mean, the ready to eat pastries near checkout. I always get Hopia Mungo, moon cake, ube bread. They even have mochi, suman, puto. They even have ready to eat seaweed salad, squid salad, coconut milk desserts in the fridges. They always have a good selection of fun drinks. My favorite is Yogo and soybean milk. My grandpa likes to get Monkey Balm here. Stuff varies depending on the days you go. read more

My favorite oriental asian store, this is my 4th time coming shopping at four season oriental store and I drive far too, and it takes me 45 to 50 minutes to get to four season oriental market, I like it a lot, good store, good and better price all foods, the owner and employee workers very nice peoples. I'm actually a little hesitant to post this review because I consider cultural differences. So...I'll just be as objective as I can. The store is small. I mean small. I walk in no greeting from the men behind the register. Not. One. Word. Okay - no biggie, I actually prefer it that way. The store has a funky smell that I suspect was coming from the fresh seafood in the back of the store. The store is crowded. The shelves are fully stocked from top to bottom AND in true Asian store fashion, there's more stuff stacked at the end of the aisles, some areas have stuff over flowing into the aisles. If you are claustrophobic, consider yourself warned. There's a great selection of Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai & Filipino items (of course there is right? Cause like I said this place is crowded!) They also have a small vegetable and frozen section. I only saw a very limited variety of fruits by the register when I was ready to check out (and they weren't looking very fresh at the time). Overall cleanliness? Hard to tell since I was distracted from being overwhelmed by the amount of stuff that was just everywhere! Anyhow, I found what I was looking for - dried plums and checked out. Still...no word from either of the men behind the register. Oh well...maybe visit as a last resort and you can't find what you're looking for at the other Asian stores around town. read more

This is my go-to Asian grocery, and I shop them all, definitely my favorite. Don't be deceived by its size... for a small shop, they really pack in a lot of products. Aisles are narrow, and stacked high, they really use the space well. They have more variety than larger Asian grocers in the area. Sure, they don't have an extensive produce or meat/fish department, but they make up for it in their dry/canned/packaged/frozen goods. In my opinion, they have the best and widest selection of teas and instant noodles too... so if you like trying new ramen and types of tea, it's worth a visit just for their great selection of these items. Also, and this is silly, and has nothing to do with the store... but the pet shop next-door is really cool if you like birds. Exotic birds everywhere, uncaged, they'll jump right up on you and say hello, just stick your hand out. I always stop here just for the entertainment whenever my pantry is low on Asian staples. It's really a 4.5. Vietnamese-owned but carries a bunch of the Chinese things I'm looking for and more. From my favorite dried salted fish to lap cheong (Chinese sausage) to fresh veggies & herbs. It's probably my favorite Asian market in the area despite having some bigger ones closer in proximity. It is rather small but they cram a heck of a lot of stuff in there. Again, the variety is insane for the small space. You can get Asian utensils & dinnerware, frozen silkworms (yes, I said silkworms), pandan leaves, & Asian baked goods among other things. This is where I first found the beef meatballs that are used in the local pho restaurants (beef tendon meatballs will what you would be looking for if you're curious). I recently found dried ramen noodles that I've been unable to locate in the area large Korean-owned markets. There's also a Vietnamese brand of noodle that my friend recommended when I make my own pho that I can't find anywhere but here. My mom even found some Chinese products she couldn't find back home in DC. I stick to the nearby markets when I'm in a pinch but I make the trek over to Four Seasons when I need the specialty things I can't find them elsewhere. read more

Owned by a local Vietnamese family, Four Seasons is the quintessential Asian grocer. Not to make this another "me, too" post, since I agree with the reviews here already, but I can't help but add another positive review of this wonderfully cramped yet bountiful wonderland. One thing I would like to stress is that although Four Seasons is considered an Asian grocery and carries foods in all ranges of ethnic diets, its stock is largely composed of Vietnamese foods. Not to worry, Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, the Phillipines, and others are also represented. :D For me, the highlight of the store is the fresh produce section. Only one side of a very cramped aisle, the produce section manages to cram almost all conceivably needed vegetables/herbs/roots for Vietnamese and Asian cooking. Loads of loose green leaf herbs and lettuces, vats of julienned carrot and daikon and bamboo shoots, bins of root veggies from ginger to potato, onions, shallots - you have it all in one teeny little aisle. The owners and staff have always been helpful and friendly whenever I can't find that one ingredient for my banh xeo, or which rice is better to make xoi la dua. Or how about going into the stockroom to help me find viet Christmas cards. Yes, this happened to me, as I roamed around cluelessly searching until I give in and ask. On Saturday mornings, Four Seasons usually has ready-to-eat packages of various Vietnamese specialty dishes near the checkout line. These run the range from roasted Peking duck, various Vietnamese cakes and desserts, sticky rice, meat dishes - all freshly made and available until sold out. I try to plan my trips on Saturdays just to purchase the weekly offerings. I've lived in three different cities in Hampton Roads since moving here - but I always come back to Four Seasons for my Asian grocery needs. read more

I don't live in Virginia Beach and don't usually make it out to Town Center before a certain hour, but once in a while, I take a trip over to Four Season. I must admit that I'm in love. I primarily shop at other Asian Supermarkets - ones that are closer to where I live or work. They have no where need the quality that Four Seasons carry. First, the fruit and vegetable are fresh and you can see that immediately. This is not always the case in other stores. Second, they have Asian foods galore - Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Vietnamese, etc. They have everything an Asian cook is looking for. Third, they have baked goodies next to the register to die for. I usually go for the Hopia - White bean pastries by way of the Philippines. There are others that aim to please. I'd suggest to anyone who looking for Asian ingredients to go to Four Season. read more

Probably the best Asian store I've been in. It looks deceivingly small from the outside but man, this place is pretty big. What puts my rating over the threshold is that they have balut. You're not a real Asian store unless you have balut ya'll (do Asians even say ya'll??). Yes this is the only Asian store I've been to, and I've been to them all, that has balut. Im not sure what has happened to this place, but I don't like it. As usual, I usually only come here to get my beloved coffee candy that no other grocery has, I found that they replaced it with some other brand that is much more expensive but not as good. I didn't want to leave empty handed since I only came here from Chesapeake to get the one item, so I walked around the store a bit. There was a foul very strong fish odor that was not pleasant, I'm not sure how long the fish had been sitting out on the ice but too long as a lot of the ice was melting. I also noticed blue crabs but they were not moving. I am a crab lover and I know that you should never cook/eat a crab once it has died. I left empty handed after that experience. read more

I have been to a handful of Oriental Groceries in the area and I think this particular store is the best. They have a very large food/cooking selection that includes a LOT of different cultures. I am always looking to try different foods from different ethnic areas than mine, and I have found it very easy to shop here. Their produce section is a little small (only 1/2 of one aisle), but all the produce is really fresh & nice looking - no bruises, wilting, softness, etc... Their prices might be a few pennies higher than other like stores, but I think it's worth paying extra for the quality. There is a small frozen fish section which looked delightful. The day I visited, they had a homemade tapioca item at the register (Unfortunately I do not remember the name of it). I was shopping there late in the day, and I assume they had a few different homemade items earlier in the day. I will remember that next time I visit. If you are looking for a specific item, stop here. If you're looking to kill some time, stop here. If you're looking to explore new culinary adventures, stop here. I think they have a wide variety & fresh selection of goods. Make sure to grab a basket when you come in, even if you're just there 'to pick up a couple of things'...... I like coming to this Asian Store more than I do the bigger ones. I usually find what I need here and its pretty inexpensive. They have a variety of fresh veggies, frozen and non frozen seafood, and lots of different canned items. The reason why I like this store so much is because they carry the Asian Beef Jerky that none of the other Asian stores in Virginia beach carry! One of the my top 10 favorite Asian Snacks :) Its a smaller store but they have alot of goodies and the owners are very nice. They take CC with a min purchase of $10. read more

I really like shopping here. All of the international food stores stock different items and this one is one of the most frequent in my circuit. The employees are always friendly and they are good at keeping what I like in stock, including some unique items I have never seen at other stores, for example "Lee Chun Spicy Satay Paste." The canned goods area seems to be a little dusty and on my last visit I found one item that was out of date. That's not so terrible to me as another asian market in the area where I found the dates removed from some items. read more

This location is easy to get to, although the parking lot is small. When I first walked into this store, I was disappointed. It's small, cramped, and seriously lacking in the produce department. As I walked around the store wishing I hadn't wasted the gas to get here, BAM!, another section pops up out of no where. The rest of the store is filled with various dry goods and a frozen section. This isn't the largest store in the area, but I loved the family feel to it. The prices are decent and I did notice some items not available at similar stores. read more

I came here looking for things to make Pho which was awesome. I even found unagi sushi sauce and tapioca pearls. The thing that caught me by surprise as soon as I walked in was the smell. I tried to see past it and continue shopping be use there was so many good things to shop. I got a good amount of goodies including a bag of bamboo shoot strips. I brought everything Home and the smell of the store had permeated all of my groceries especially the plastic packaging of the bamboo shoots. I washed everything with soap but the strong smell of cat litter was so strong that it made me gag. I had to transfer my bamboo shoots to a different ziplock Baggie. I love all the things I purchase but I cannot come back here. read more

I just moved to the area and I'm quite impressed. I wasn't expecting to find such a wide variety of asian groceries. They had your basic selection of ffresh produce but it's good enough for me (gai-lan, bok choi, napa cabbage, tong ho, bitter melon...). They had all the asian snacks, candy, crackers and cookies you would find at an asian market in Cali. They also carried dishes and cookware. Their frozen food section was also quite large. They had quite a variety of rice and noodles, soba, rice noodles....most anything you could need. They also carry tofu. They have bulk tofu in the produce isle with all the shreeded carrots and things like that. They have some seafood, but I didn't really find any meat ( i wasn't really looking for meat though). I come here for the herbs, specifically Vietnamese coriander and Thai basil. I also get all my noodles here as well. They also carry some of the meats used to make Vietnamese sandwiches. I like this place because I can get pretty much every thing I need fairly quickly. This is my favorite Asian mart in the area. read more
