I've been coming here for the last seven years, and they've consistently done an excellent job. The shop is cash only, but there are two ATMs nearby if you need cash. Prices are very affordable, with discounts available for military members and seniors. The barbers take their time, averaging about 45 minutes per haircut from start to finish, and it shows. This is our second visit to this barber. Our barber is Yen and she is great! She takes the time to cut hair evenly and still manages to be quick. Cleans up the edges and a hot towel rub too! Been going here when it was known as Ernesto's and Gloria's Barber Shop. So I've been a customer for over 10+ years! My good friend introduced this shop to me because he said they use a straight razor and you get shoulder massages after your cut. Super Cuts didn't do that and I payed more! Haha! So my first and only barber was Lei, who happens to be the current owner. She is a true professional! Always remembers what you want in your cut and she knows everyone's name. She's very polite and very personable. You feel very comfortable with her, sometimes too comfortable because I end up falling asleep! I like the hot towel before she straight razors you, so relaxing! Then vacuums your head so you don't get itchy from the little cut hairs. Then at last, the awesome shoulder and head massage (free)! Listen, this place is not a salon, it's a barber shop just like the signs says. So if you want a real Man's hair cut, at a reasonable price, then this is the place for you. Yes, they use straight razors, (it make your hair cut last longer) but if your sensitive skin can't handle it then just tell them "no skin." The owner Lei cuts my hair to my liking every time. So if you're looking for a Rockabilly pompadour, or surfer boy barely can see past my hair cut, or a Bieber bob then go follow your girl friend next time she goes to Paul Brown. Past couple times I've been here I got someone that speaks no English, and was EXTREMELY inexperienced, the owner had to fix my hair the first time and the second time the lady almost made me bald, I asked for a medium skin fade and she shaves me bald up to the crown of my head. Lei's Barbershop used to be Ernesto and Gloria's Barbershop. I've been coming here for 25 years. Ownership recently changed and Lei now owns the place. The staff is learning how to cut hair and my experience was less than optimal. The barber in the makai corner basically bolo-headed my hair. She seemed more occupied by the leak in the ceiling and the flow of customers than my haircut. At one point, she used a straight razor to clean up my sideburns and I thought I would be walking out of there with a bloody face. I will likely never come back and instead head down to the Pearl City Barbershop on the first level of the waimano shopping plaza. read more
