worst vet experiences ever. my final string for leaving this review is that on Monday I went in for a check up and blood work, and without showing me proof they claim my cat is showing "toxic levels of phenobarbital" (he has a prescription) and tell me I should reduce the dosage, which I expressed concerns about and referenced a previous conversation I had there at the last checkup, saying he still had seizures on this newly suggested dosage, and that this whole time I had him on a slightly higher one, he had no problems. 6 days later he has one of the worst seizures I have ever seen him have. I am extremely upset and dissatisfied with this location and I will NOT be returning here ever again. read more

We moved here from New York State with a dog that had diabetes. Our dog was on insulin and had high blood glucose levels. Two weeks after arriving here, our dog went into ketoacidosis (just two days after a visit with veterinarian at Leland Vet. Hospital.) Our dog had to be rushed to an emergency veterinarian and was euthanized. The Veterinarian at Leland Veterinary Hospital should have recognized the signs of a very sick dog and did not. Please do not bring your animals here! read more

I changed from my former veterinary hospital due to their increased costs and was recommended to Leland Veterinary Hospital by my sister. Since I changed over I have been pleasantly pleased with the service, care, scheduling, customer service and professionalism I have received from the doctors and staff alike. I'm a fairly new customer to Leland Vet. Ellie has been in a few times when our normal vet wouldn't work her in. Leland Vet is always very accommodating, flexible, and willing to help. Their prices are comparable and sometimes a little cheaper than other places in Leland, too! The staff is very helpful and friendly. They give follow up calls to check up on Ellie when she has been sick which I appreciate because I almost always have questions for them. The building is very old and could potentially use some updating, but that just isn't something that is important to me. I just want to know they care for my pup and will take great care of her! I have used this vet for several years and had several positive experiences! However, they do not seem to be as knowledgeable about pet allergies. I took one of my cats there 4 times and spent over $500 for them to tell me they still had no clue what he was allergic to and didn't have anything to help him. I also tried to take my other cat there for an issue with her eye as a walk in. I called several times before making the drive from Wilmington, but received nothing but the busy signal. I arrived around 5:20pm and although the doctor doesn't leave until 5:30pm, I was told they had left early that day. Although I have loved this vet in the past, I will be finding a new one. I cannot trust my pets will receive the best care when the staff and doctors are both unreliable and lacking in communication. read more

I have taken my cats to Leland Vet for at least 15 years, they always take care of me and my cats needs , they have always fairly priced the service I have needed for any of my animals. The staff is always friendly and caring, and they seem to always listen to my concerns when it comes to my animals, they will be my forever vet for any future and my current fur babies without question.!!!!!!! read more

We have been using another local larger,fancier Veterinary Hospital in the area. Our little Chihuahua mix had a return of liver disease. The larger,fancier Vet gave us little hope other than to either put her back on a feeding tube/hospitaliztion (which cost us $8,000.00 previously) or a possible euthanization. We took her to Leland Animal hospital and she was seen by Dr. Brazik who gave us hope that our little girl was not done and advised us on some alternative liver suppliments. We are now switching our pets over to Leland.And they were WAY cheaper. read more

We switched to this vet last year because our other one was too pricey. We've now moved to Wilmington but continue to go to this vet because the staff and doctors are great and the prices are much more reasonable than other vets. And since we live downtown, it's really only a 10 minute drive (unless Leland's traffic decides it's a 45 minute drive). Our dog was also just diagnosed with diabetes and they are so helpful and non-judgy with our "mess ups" while we learn how to keep his blood sugar stabilized. read more

They just greedy, don't care about your pet. They care about money only! Stay away! They mistreated and misdiagnosed my baby. When we went to the second opinion and later to an emergency, it was too late! I am crying my eyes out! There are so many clinics and I went to this one! I regret it so much! Stuff is rude! This vets office is awful! The office is dated and dirty. The staff is ridiculously unfriendly and rude! Especially one of the front desk ladies! The Vet barely looked at my dog when I came in for what I thought was an infection in the tail. They told me he doesn't need antibiotics. Then a few days later it got worse and worse. Went to a different vets office and they told me in fact it was infected. They barely acknowledge you or your pet when you walk in the door. It seems the only thing they care about is getting your money! read more

Horrible!! First off, after you walk in the door there's cats literally everywhere freely roaming! The staff was OK but the vet was horrible. Couldn't answer one question I had for her about my dog. Shocker... i guess all they care about is cats. He was having problems going to the bathroom so I asked if we should switch from Blue Buffalo brand food and she said yes switch to Iams. Seriously!? Then a month later I needed to board my dog and asked them to fax over medical records which im sure has to be a common request and they acted nasty and as if they didn't have time. I switched to Brunswick Forest and is was a night and day difference. Please trust me when I tell you to bring your dog to any place other than here. read more
