I recently hired Lemon Squad to look at a few trucks my company was looking to buy. The reports were very detailed with loads of pictures to look at. When i went to order the second time the service was in a remote area and Lemon Squad worked with me on the price. After one of the inspections i received a call expressing concern about the truck asking if it was in a flood area due to it having rust in odd places. Andy seemed very concerned about the state of the vehicle and cautioned me about buying it. I really appreciate the extra effort on his part looking out for us and calling me himself. I never write bad reviews or reviews in general this being the first but this one is a MUST!!! I purchased a Ferrari, 380k msrp that I had inspected by lemon squad...Inspection came back absolutely flawless not a single imperfection note, so I bought the car. Used best enclosed transporter in business and there driver noted over 6 exterior imperfections before picking it up. The car has a dent in the door, back bumper all nicked and touched up with marker (must have been blind), wheels curbed, chunk of tire missing, ripped back seat, interior buttons missing, ripped carpet mat and more! For all this damage ($$$$), they were nice and refunded me my $200 for their EXPERT EXOTIC INSPECTION. It gets better though, I called beforehand and asked for the best inspector, and after all this they then stood behind their inspector and told me its one of the best they have! I wouldn't let him inspect a car I purchased for a $1,000 yet he and others that must be worse than him still work for this company!!!! DO NOT USE! read more

Do not use this company. They're very unreliable and will keep your money no matter the circumstances. I've worked with vehicle inspectors before and a good company has constant customer contact between the inspector and the customer. Their is none with lemon squad. They canceled my service 2 times and I sat waiting for about a week to get their service. They canceled because the dealership was closed (not true) and the other time because they didn't have time. Wouldn't you know the car sold within that week because lemon squad is not very prompt with giving service. I had to get information about my inspector from the bias source, my sales person, as to where he was, when he'd arrive, etc.! Ridiculous. Use yourmechanic.com if you want a good inspection company. I never received any service or product from this company and with it being so late after they initially told me I'd get service, I now no longer need the service. They still don't want to refund me. If you want your money back, I suggest contacting your bank and disputing the transaction and the business in order to get your money back. Unprofessional and shady company. Stay away! read more

Contracted them to inspect a 2019 Grand Cherokee. They gave me a confirmation with the day of service. That morning they called to say they couldn't make it that day. I told them I absolutely needed the inspection done that day and would have never hired them if they could not honor their confirmations. I told them to cancel and they told me they do t offer refunds. What crap! So I pressured them into getting it done that evening. The inspector was an idiot. Reported all kinds of damage and said the tires needed to be replaced. I ALMOST walked away from the sale! Called the manager of the dealership and he video-walked the truck saying all of that damage was a lie. He guaranteed when I got the truck I would see for myself and offered to take it back if I wasn't happy. Also said the tires still had 70% life left! These idiots don't know what they're doing. this place is a joke and no one should use them. i called to see what was going on with my order to have my license plate brackets put on my new car and i was given the run around. the woman denise i spoke with asked me if i received an email i stated no and then after she explained what the email would have said i stated oh yes i did receive that email that horrible women had the nerve to say to me i thought you said you didnt receive an email. i was now extremely upset and even more frustrated then i started. then i ask to speak to a manger and the woman i was speaking with named denise who was extremely rude and aweful states she is the manager i told her she was being really rude. i asked for the number to coorprate and she states she has the final say so. i asked so you own the company she states no but she was the final stop. i would like to speak to whomever is the owner of this place in maryland because your operational manager needs several lessons on customer service and what is good to say and what is not. this company deserves a zero rating. read more

I have used Lemon Squad 3 times and and have had a great experience each time. Most recently using Lemon Squad helped me uncover an attempted scam. Since they weren't able to inspect the vehicle I was only charged $25 and it potentially saved me $20k. They have also been extremely attentive keeping me updated with scheduling etc. read more

The salvage car that I purchased was in a passenger rear end accident. I gave them that specific information and asked them to specifically look at that area. The report came back a D rating but mainly because of cosmetic problems. Only wanted a car for dependable transportation so this didn't bother me. Had the car shipped to me and within minutes of being under the car I found two problems. The control arm at the rear was right up against the tire, about a quarter inch of clearance. The other side has about a inch and a half of clearance. The exhaust has a large dent in the passenger side as well. These repairs are well into the hundred to repair and were easily seen buy an inexperienced home mechanic. Should have been in the report. Scratches and small dings that were in plain sight were in the report. I guess it was to much for the inspector to look under the car. Call another inspection company or hope that you get a better inspector. read more

I had Lemon Squad do an inspection for me on a car out of state. Based on their inspection I bought the car and had it shipped to me. The report seemed very thorough and detailed. When I got the car I noticed the horn did not work even though the report said it did. Not a big deal it's an old car (1965 GTO) relays can be sticky or wires loose. May have worked for the inspector and now just not working for me. I started sorting out the problem and discover the horn contact button located in the steering column under the steering wheel was missing. Not broken, not out of sorts, missing. There is no way the inspector pressed the horn button and it worked. So now I am wondering what else did he make up or missed. Here is a list. He said no floor mats, yes there are floor mats (how do you miss that). No dash lights, not back up lights, dash gauges do not work, bad sound coming from front of car when driving highway speed (think it might be a wheel bearing), antenna broken, no latch on driver vent window. This is just what I have found so far. I emailed all this to LemonSquad and they refunded my $300, but I did not want a refund I wanted an accurate report. read more

I'm in the process of buying a beautiful used Audi A4 Cabriolet from a dealer in St. Petersburg, FL. I live in Charlotte, NC. The woman helping me, LeeAnn Shattuck, The Car Chick (www.womensautomotivesolutions.com/- she's great, too!) recommended using the Lemon Squad as a means to get an independent opinion, up close and personal, of the car. I went for the more expensive package which allows the guy checking out the car to hook up a computer to speak to the car's onboard system. The report was very useful. It pointed out several items that had previously gone unaccounted for, none of which were deal breakers, but which would have cost me a fair amount to fix. The inspection paid for itself and I am a happier camper. I even asked to speak to the guy who did the inspection - Jon - and he was great, too. The guy who inspected my RV was an idiot. He said it was leaking oil. Nope! He said the propane tank had a leak. The guys who filled it said they would never fill one with a leak. He said the inside lights did not work. They did. He said the tires need to be replaced soon. An experienced repairman just commented on my nice new tires. Jeff at Lemon Squad was very helpful and took the time to go over my concerns about the car and the specific things I wanted checked. The very next day, the dealership called to tell me the car had been sold. I was crushed, but called Lemon Squad back and spoke to Jeff who gave me a hassle-free refund (he offered to put the service on hold with no expiration but my hope is to find a local car.) Stay away. Many other reputable companies out there I have used. Ordered an inspection from Lemon Squad. They scheduled it for the next day. Canceled it a couple hours later (i.e., well before it was scheduled). Company says nothing to me about moving up the inspection so contends I cannot cancel. I complain. I get a very unprofessional message from the company out of Minnesota. Absurdly unprofessional and sarcastic. I saved it, in case anyone wants to hear it. Beware of the unilateral rules Lemon Squad hides in its FAQs. That's how they try to get around ever, ever refunding your money. Bottom line is this: once you pay, NOTHING will entitle you to a refund, according to this fly by night shop. As for the inspection report -- it was horrendous. Had them look at a VW diesel TDI. 85K miles. No timing belt change by the single owner, which is due at 60K. $1100 service. Critical for these cars, if you know the car. Report indicated it was fine. Among other misses. Stay away. Lemon Squad is indeed A LEMON. read more

I used this company in the past and had a good experience as the inspector was very thorough and took a lot of care with the inspection. However, I recently did another inspection and was absolutely disappointed with the level of the inspection that was performed!!! I was told the vehicle's parking brakes worked and there was no leaks and found that the parking brakes did not work and there was leaks on the front part of the engine... after I confronted the company I received a call from the manager/owner and he dared me for questioning them and said all they were trying to do was help and told me to never call them and use their service. Instead of apologizing and giving me a refund I got a tongue lashing from the manager/owner... unbelievable... you're better off flying out and seeing the car in person than use this service as it was a waste of money! read more

I made a Yelp account just to review this company. After trying to go through Carchex, who would not even answer my calls, I found Lemon Squad. What a great experience! I am purchasing a Dodge Charger that is about 3 hours from where I live, so I wanted to have someone look it over before I drove out there. I submitted my order online on Tuesay afternoon. The inspection was completed and I had a report sent to me in LESS THAN 24 HOURS. Their reports are fairly detailed, and included a short write up by the inspector as well as about 20 high definition photos. Not really helpful. Said vehicle had paint chips consistent with age of vehicle. No pics to show close ups of issues a buyer would want to know about ahead of time. There were significant chips in the front bumper that should have had a close up pic. There was a dent in the front passenger pane that was not mentioned at all. The Ford decal on the grille was completely faded. Again should've had a close up pic. Worst of all the report said vehicle runs and drives as should with no issues. Literally within 1 minute of pulling out of the parking lot of the dealership the engine started missing like crazy and the check engine light started flashing. Also the leather seat had a repair patch on it that was not mentioned and no pic. read more

Inspection date was set by Lemonsquad & I told dealer to expect them on that day. Independent dealer shows by appt only. I specifically requested w/my order that lemonsquad make appoint w/dealer in advance. Their website also says they call first before going to dealer. Inspector showed up to dealer location before business hours, called dealer saying he was in the area and expected to do inspection now. Dealer asked to set appt for later that day because he wasn't at location. Inspector said he couldn't come back later that day. Due to weekend & other factors now 4 days later before it can get done. I need a car asap. Called customer service (Denise), what a joke, rude & argumentative, took no responsibility for what her own website says & what inspector did. Told her I'm not doing business w/her company. Called credit card company for chargeback as I didn't get the service that I paid for on the date it was supposed to get done. read more

I have purchased numerous cars and I have always hired an inspection company. I tried using Lemon Squad and I can tell you they cost me OVER TEN THOUSAND DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE. I specifically asked they check out the transmission as well as potential rust on the car I was considering. They signed off stating the transmission (advertised as a 4 speed top loader) was in fact in good working shape and was as advertised, when I received the car it was abundantly clear that any basic mechanic would know when they drove the car that it was a 3 speed with an overdrive which is a much less desirable transmission. There was rust all over this car and I specifically asked them to have the inspector check for rust as the car was advertised as a complete restoration and it clearly was not as the quarter panels were completely rotted and the body has bubbling all over it. When I tried to talk to the company they could have cared less and told me to call their attorney....NEVER NEVER NEVER USE THIS COMPANY...HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE... INCOMPETENT INSPECTORS....and absolutely no accountability read more

Based on their report I decided not to purchase the car. What I really appreciated was that the company (Andy) called to discuss his concerns and to review the report with me. He was knowledgable and honest and eager to help me find the right car. WIthout hesitation, I would recommend Lemonsquad and I will definately use their service again until I find just the right car. Would not use Lemon Squad - I am very disappointed by the review of a 2009 Audi A8 for the following reasons: 1. The engine operation shows no problem in your report, however the engine clearly runs rough. Within 6-miles, the engine light went on. if the inspector would have payed attention to the car, he would have heard inconsistent running. There is also smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. When attached to the computer, it shows that one of the cylinders is not even working. I am no mechanic and it was obvious; DID NOT EVEN LISTEN 2. The report shows that all four tires are Michelin, when in fact rear passenger is a dunlop, rear driver is a Continental, fronts are different Michelin. This alone would tell me not to buy the car. DID NOT EVEN LOOK 3. When driving the car, there is excessive road noise from the tires and clearly a spot that sounds like a tire is out of round or at least a belt, which brings me to the worst oversight. All wheels are scuffed, with three having deep gouges and the driver front wheel with a large dent in the wheel. I sent photos to Lemon Squad with no reply. DID NOT EVEN LOOK 4. The air suspension system has a significant leak. You can sit in the car and hear it and feel it go up and down about every 30 seconds. After two minutes you can hear the pump trying to keep up. Even the delivery truck driver mentioned that the front right side drops much faster than the left. DID NOT EVEN LOOK 5. The report ends with something like 'very nice car that was well cared for..' 6. I reported the issues to Lemon Squad on 9/23 with photos. No response. Called on 10/25 and got the old 'oh, we did not get the email' so I resent it and he got it in seconds. Hmmm. And of course, the only claimed responsibility is return of inspection money--if it is approved after talking with the inspector. REALLY??? They are going to ask the inspector if the job was done correctly? Seems to be about $8,850.00 short on the repairs I've had to make. read more

I used lemon squad twice. The first time the seller and the inspector both claimed that the other had put off the appointment and it was he said/she said with no way to tell because they were not in touch with me about timing. The seller claimed they cancelled and stood him up and was quite upset..This was a great deal on a nice car which I was never able to have inspected and I gave up and lost a deposit..after three days of trying to schedule. Their claim was that they preferred to give short notice and 'sneak up' on sellers lest they have time to warm up an old car or charge a dead battery..Sheesh! They did another inspection on a different car and the photo from the front had the hood unlactched so you could not tell if the hood fit to the fenders and grill was perfect or misaligned. They also left the lights on and then claimed it had a dead battery..after letting the headlights stay on over an hour..This is a fuel injected car which will not start if voltage is off due to the electronics. There were issues partially pictured but unclear..again I think I shied away from a very good deal on a car due to their practices..critical and fear mongering..but not really informative. My final try with them had a full portfolio of photos and there were NO photos of the drivers and passenger seats. The driver seat shot is the main interior wear indicator in any used car photos, featured in all car ads..And one of the dash looking forward..these photos were all missing, I couldnt tell what some of the comments were because he wrote Vernier instead of veneer..Vernier is a tech term, not a misspelling and I was going ??? Its a service worth about ten bucks and Im guessing thats what they pay inspectors..It will verify that yes a car exists and it runs and is real. And theyre clearly trying to play hero and save people from buying anything but a five star show car..not dealing with the real world where reason and judgement are applied along with literacy and spelling rules! From notifying me they had an appointment and then asking again for the phone number because it was incorrect?? So they basically lied about the appointment time which was a 'projection' and never mutually agreed on..(rereading this I realize its unclear, you see they told me the appointment time with an inspection..Leading me to feel an appointment was made when in fact it was not made. They had the wrong phone number! Then I expected a meeting in error and it was a fiasco. Here they were calling me again to correct the mistaken phone number when they'd already claimed they had an appointment time. Make sense? To me the outfit is self serving and fast and loose with people's trust, not to be trusted. Get a mechanic to do a professional PPI, or a dealership or body shop but not these amateurs with a camera and a report form!) The only person theyre trying to help is themselves. read more
