I've known Mike Allbright since he was a teenager, so it only made sense to go to someone who I knew personally! And Tax CleanUp was both easy and a blessing to use! I would recommend them to anyone!

I hired Mike/Tax Cleanup in April 2025 to help me file several years of back taxes and get…read morecompliant as a 1099 worker. I was quoted approximately $4,000 and was told my entire case would be handled. I provided organized records, mileage logs, income documents, and supporting information through the client portal early in the process. After that, communication became extremely difficult. For months, I repeatedly called, texted, and followed up asking for updates. Many calls went unanswered, messages were ignored for long stretches of time, and I was frequently told things like "I'm busy right now" or "I'm out of the office, I'll call you back," only to hear nothing further. When I was finally able to reach him, it was often late in the evening and I was repeatedly asked to resend information that had already been uploaded previously. I have included screenshots showing the pattern of communication and lack of response over time. One major red flag for me was being asked to have my wife sign a power of attorney that was backdated roughly 20 years, despite the fact that she is only 36 years old. By December 2025 -- roughly eight months after I originally hired him -- the returns were finally "ready" to submit. When I asked about payment options with the IRS, I was told I would "have to" pay well over $1,000 per month. When I explained that was not financially realistic for my family, I was essentially told I had no other options. I also asked about representation before the IRS and was told I could either handle the calls myself or pay additional money for him to do it, but that the outcome would supposedly be the same either way. At that point, I lost confidence in the process. I ultimately reviewed and corrected portions of the returns myself and submitted them directly to the IRS by mail. Some returns contained errors that required correction after rejection notices were received. After educating myself on the IRS process and speaking directly with IRS representatives, I learned there were in fact multiple compliance and payment-plan options available depending on financial circumstances. My experience was extremely frustrating, drawn out, expensive, and ultimately left me feeling like I had to finish the process myself after paying thousands of dollars for professional help. Use caution and do your research before hiring this company.

He helped me both with my business taxes and personal taxes, and WOW was I impressed with his knowledge. His expertise was such a relief to be able to lean on this year. Ron also has a unique since of humor, which may not be for everyone, but it made paying taxes oddly relaxing for me (and dare I say, even enjoyable). Would strongly recommend Ron for both business and personal tax needs!

Proceed with Caution: My Experience with Ron Mussett…read more I initially worked with Ron to set up my LLC taxed as an S-corp. He was helpful during the initial process, but unfortunately, the execution was flawed. He made repeated administrative errors, such as filing paperwork incorrectly, missing deadlines, and even misspelling my name and my company's name multiple times. While I initially overlooked these mistakes, things only worsened over time. One of my biggest concerns was Ron's reluctance to answer questions beyond quarterly payroll tax filings. I often felt like an annoyance rather than a valued client. More critically, he failed to inform me that I wasn't making estimated personal income tax payments, which led to a substantial tax bill for 2024--complete with penalties. Based on my experience with him, I expect he would say this wasn't his responsibility, but better communication could have prevented the issue. Additionally, his tax planning knowledge was not the right fit. For instance, he was unfamiliar with Solo 401(k) plans and only recommended SEP IRAs, which didn't align with my financial strategy. He also would push back against strategies like structuring payroll for my spouse, paying her the max required for a 401(k) contribution, and "netting out." Beyond these shortcomings, his overall responsiveness was mediocre to poor--not just during tax season but consistently throughout the year. He was only reachable via email and rarely by phone, making it difficult to get timely responses. To be fair, Ron is very affordable compared to other CPAs. At the time, I was paying a fraction of what I pay now. However, I've come to realize that paying three times as much for my new CPA is well worth it--because at least now, I don't have IRS penalties, unexpected tax bills, or unanswered questions. My new CPA is available via phone and Zoom, open to one-on-one consultations, and takes the time to ensure I understand my tax strategy. If you're looking for a CPA who provides proactive guidance, strategic tax planning, and clear explanations, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Just as we expect doctors to have bedside manner, I believe a CPA should show a level of respect and care for their clients. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I often felt disregarded, and the lack of communication left me with IRS penalty letters, an unexpected tax bill, and a new CPA who is now cleaning up the mess. Ultimately, I take responsibility for not holding Ron accountable sooner. However, if you choose to work with him, be prepared to take a very hands-on approach and ensure you fully understand what he is offering. I've since found a CPA who is a much better fit--someone who takes the time to explain tax-saving strategies, aligns with my long-term financial goals, and ensures I won't be blindsided by another massive tax bill in 2025.

While she was pleasant…read moreat the beginning, her attitude quickly shifted and she became consistently rude and difficult to communicate with. One of the biggest issues was her lack of accountability. There were multiple mistakes made by her team, yet she never took ownership or responsibility for them. Instead of acknowledging the errors or offering any kind of apology, she was dismissive and unhelpful. This left me in a tough position, especially when transitioning to a new accountant who had to spend significant time correcting numerous errors. It's frustrating because I've since seen other reviews describing a similar pattern--friendly at first, then becoming rude and unprofessional--which was exactly my experience as well. I would not recommend her services based on my experiences.
