If I could give this company no stars I would! In July on a Friday we woke up to a hot water heater…read morethat the pilot light would not stay lit. I called McCreary's to see if they could come check it out. When they arrived the worker initially thought it was one issue, but then when that did not work he moved on to the next options. He then thought we had a faulty gas valve and he was able to get our pilot light lit and he said he was going to run to the office and be right back. About an hour later I go into my basement and smell a strong odor of natural gas. The employee caused a gas leak and left and never returned like he said he would. I called the office and they told me "Oh he went on another call and then he was coming back". He came back and said "oh yeah that is gas" and said that he is going to go back to the office yet again to see about getting us a new gas valve. About thirty minutes later he called and said there are no companies around that have that type of gas valve and we need to replace the entire hot water heater. Prior to McCreary's coming to work on our hot water heater our pilot light was able to be lit, but after they were finished working on our hot water heater the pilot would not even light. So, they told me that there is nothing more that they could do for us at this time since it is Friday and we will not have hot water until at least Monday or later. We ended up going with a different company that was able to come in and install a new hot water heater on the same day. A few weeks later we received a bill from McCreary's for the "service" that was "completed". When I called and questioned them about the bill they told us that they came and completed a service so they are expecting payment from us. Even though they did not do anything for us but break our hot water heater and cause a gas leak. So, long story short: they completely broke our hot water heater, created a hazardous natural gas leak and wanted us to go an entire weekend, or even longer without hot water. They for sure have lost a customer!

Awful first (and last) time customer. Had a specific part needing replaced, indicated that when…read moreappt. was made. Tech was 3hrs late from time provided. Showed up without the part, later found a 'used' one in his van. Sat in my driveway for over 40 mins. throughout appt., also said he had to 'go back to the shop' twice, once sitting in driveway for 20 mins., next was leaving for 10 mins., then sat in driveway another 10 mins. Tore apart wall thermostat, which wasn't a problem. Husband came home from work, had tech show him the replacement unit, and husband pointed out it was wired wrong. Tech had wired it wrong! So for the 3hrs he was there, should have been maybe 1hr of work had he known what he was doing. He then re-wired it and it worked....I get billed for 3hrs! THEN woman manager argued with me over the bill when I called to say there's no way I'm paying for their tech's incompetence and I'd agree to pay for 1hr. She was SUPER rude even after I pointed out how rude she was being to me. This was not my fault and the tech coming and going, sitting in my driveway, not bringing a part, then finding it, wiring it wrong, tearing apart my wall unit for no reason...... I'm sorry, I am not paying for 3hrs of him not actually performing the job. Unreal, more upset over the woman manager being so rude and not even wanting to listen. She over-talked me, raised her voice so I couldn't talk, and even snickered when I said I knew the owner and went to school with him and I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate how she treated customers! Never again. I even got charged for a new part when the tech flat-out told me it was used and he found it in his van!

This company promotes itself as an emergency fixer. How can that be when they don't carry parts. So, the service person said the part would be ordered and he left. Big help. Well, its 4 days later and we hear nothing from them. So, I call them to find out what the problem is. They tell me that they sent email to my wife the next day about up front costs that we needed to pay before they ordered the part. The service person didn't mention to us about getting this email. It took 5 days to get our furnace fixed because of this idiot service person. By the way the part was only $110 and we were charged $1500. Avoid this business.
