Brynwood Rentals - The "completed" wall after AC removal

    Brynwood Rentals

What a disappointing conclusion to living in a place that was much more enjoyable when owned by…read moreRemax. When Kevin purchased the apartment complex in which my mom and I were living, one of the first things he did was have the AC unit removed from the wall right before the weather started getting hot (with no touch-up afterward), followed by increasing rent by $270/mo despite no upgrades to our particular apartment. Furthermore, multiple maintenance requests went ignored, including the kitchen sink not draining properly, (we ended up doing our dishes in the bathtub for over a year,) the garbage disposal unit not working, and the dishwasher not working. The washer and dryer were also removed from the basement of our building. In addition, Kevin Gardner himself is an incredibly unpleasant person to interact with and does not care at all about his tenants, only the money they give him for their necessary shelter. My mom once called because a new neighbor was locked out of her apartment (because they gave her the wrong key), and I could hear Kevin belittling my mom over the phone for calling him, and it wasn't even on speaker. Kind of seems like he doesn't like women who stand up for themselves ‍ It has now been two weeks since we moved out, and communication has completely ceased regarding our security deposit, despite trying to call and e-mail. But hey, as long as Kevin has money in his pockets, right? I don't expect to see the security deposit, based on past interactions, but let this serve as a warning for future renters. I've had some bad landlords, but this dude tops the list without contest. Just a fair warning if you're looking for a place to live. Save yourself some heartache and go with a different realtor, because Kevin is 100% about Kevin, not you.

My review concerns Brynwood Rentals generally, which also does business as 535, Inc. The business,…read morehowever, is operated at all levels by Mr. Kevin Gardner. My specific experience is based on my tenancy at 105 S. 17th Street in Lewisburg, PA, from November 2015 through July 2018. I will address specifics later with photos and video. Nevertheless, prospective tenants are welcome to contact me with questions. A few over-arching facts follow: -my February 2015 electric bill was over $500. -mold and insect issues (perpetuated by dampness) render the basement useless for storage. -during my tenancy, Kevin Gardner's employees entered without permission on four occasions in non-emergency situations. Tenant privacy is not valued. -today, June 27, 2018, Kevin Gardner again tried to give me less than 24-hour's notice to show the apartment. He did this before on May 22, 2018. Do not expect to be treated professionally at the end of your lease. Addendum: again on June 28, 2018.

They use only the best products and have a level of integrity that is hard to find anymore. Highly recommend for issues with water, mold, or cracks in your basement or crawlspace.

My house was built in 1950. For 20+ years, whenever it continuously rained hard, or we'd get a…read moretorrential thunderstorm, we knew exactly which areas water would hydrostatically seep in as the water table rose. We would go through dozens of towels and often run 5-gallon shopvacs to try to keep streams of water from flowing across the floor and pooling into the finished part of our basement. Finally, I had enough. I called a few basement repair companies to come in, survey the problem, and give us estimates. The Basement Expert, with their simple approach, no-nonsense guarantee, and not trying to oversell us or suggest unnecessary steps, won the job. I couldn't be happier with their work! The job was done by a group of hardworking but affable guys. During the day, the foreman consulted with us and explained things every step of the way. The owner even showed up to check on the work and ask me how things were going. The job was completed and cleaned up in one day without too much disruption to our household. Since then we've had several storms that would've saturated scores of towels and repeatedly filled up the shopvac, including TS Debbie when it inundated our area with over 6 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. My basement now? Not a drop. It's true that one point early on, I saw a patch wetness in the concrete close to the edge of the new drainage line, but not real concerned about it. However, they had told me, "If you see any water at all, call us." So I did. They came right away and in about 2 hours tied that spot into the line, free of charge. The system has worked flawlessly ever since. Now, thanks to The Basement Expert, I can enjoy watching storms from my porch or living room instead of being confined to the basement and the drudgery of struggling against leaks coming in. I highly recommend these guys. Craig H
